Over 5,000 Congregations Break Away From United Methodist Church Over Pro-LGBT Stance

Resistance to the LGBT agenda now spans legislatures, schools, and churches across the country and world, bringing division among Catholic and Anglican bishops, and now among Methodist pastors as well.

More than 5,000 congregations have left the United Methodist Church (UMC), the second-largest Protestant denomination in the U.S., over its pro-LGBT stance. The “disaffiliation” movement saw churches leaving in droves over the past several weeks, with UM News, the official news service of the UMC, reporting the disaffiliation of 5,458 churches just this year and 25,500 Methodist churches remaining.

According to reports, the mass exodus of Methodist churches comes after “liberal leaders in the UMC disregarded a 2019 vote upholding the church’s ban on ordaining LGBT clergy and officiating at or hosting same-sex weddings.”

In 2022, Fox News reported that “several conservative members of the Methodist clergy” stated that “far from settling the issue, however, the 2019 vote was disregarded by many liberal leaders within the UMC who decided to remain in the denomination while commissioning openly gay clergy and officiating same-sex weddings anyway.”

In 2019, the Methodist General Conference also “approved a church law allowing UMC churches to leave with their church property if two-thirds of their congregation and regional governor body approved,” paving the way for the current mass exodus over the open acceptance of the LGBT agenda. Christian Mother of 4-Year-Old Forced to Partake in LGBT Ritual Vows to Appeal Judge’s Ruling in Discrimination Suit

A Christian couple took a London school to court after it reportedly coerced their 4-year-old into participating in an LGBT activist parade.

The presiding judge ultimately ruled against Christian parents Izoduwa and Shane Montague, claiming that the activist ritual did not advance “LGBT issues over other lifestyle forms” and was actually aligned with their Christian beliefs. He also underlined the importance of teaching LGBT issues in schools to ensure that “those who adhere to that lifestyle” receive a favorable treatment.

Despite this setback, the parents have not given up. They are going to appeal their case. . .

According to the London-based nonprofit Christian Concern, the Heavers Farm Primary School in Croydon, South London, held a pride celebration in 2018. Parents were notified of the event only a few days in advance with a rainbow-colored invitation to attend.

Ahead of the event, young students were reportedly taught popular “gay anthems,” which they were ultimately tasked with singing while marching around the school. Transgender-Identified Montana Lawmaker Censured for ‘Hate-Filled’ Comments

A Montana Democrat was censured by the state assembly Thursday after hate-filled comments that accused Republicans of having “blood on your hands” over transgender legislation.

Rep. Zooey Zephyr, the state’s first transgender-identified lawmaker in the Montana legislature, mocked Republican prayers in a floor speech this week as the House debated a bill to codify the sex binary of male and female. Senate Bill 99, which ultimately cleared the lower chamber, bans transgender medical interventions for minors with gender dysphoria.

“The only thing I will say is if you vote yes on this bill, and yes on these amendments, I hope the next time there’s an invocation when you bow your heads in prayer, you see the blood on your hands,” Zephyr said.

The Montana House Freedom Caucus responded to the remarks with a demand to censure the Missoula-area representative. Zephyr was banned from engaging in further floor debate on Thursday and is not allowed to speak on bills in the chamber without an apology.

“It is up to me to maintain decorum here on the House floor, to protect the dignity and integrity,” said House Speaker Matt Regier, according to the Associated Press. “Any representative that I don’t feel can do that will not be recognized.” (Read more from “Transgender-Identified Montana Lawmaker Censured for ‘Hate-Filled’ Comments” HERE)

Pro Hockey Player Labeled ‘Homophobic’ as He Faces Backlash for Boycotting Team’s Pride Festivities

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov faced backlash for his decision to boycott the organization’s Pride night to support the LGBTQ+ community.

Provorov didn’t participate in pregame warmups when the team wore Pride-themed jerseys and used sticks wrapped in rainbow Pride tape. He cited his Russian Orthodox religion as the reason why he didn’t participate. He eventually played in the game against the Anaheim Ducks.

“I respect everybody and I respect everybody’s choices,” he told reporters after the game. “My choice is to stay true to myself and my religion. That’s all I’m going to say.”

The Russia native, who is in his seventh season with the Flyers, received backlash on social media for the boycott.

Supreme Court to Hear Case of Web Designer Refusing to Do Gay Wedding Sites

Lorie Smith, 38, of Littleton, Colo., may be the new face of a national debate pitting gay rights against freedom of speech in a case some have called a “free speech blockbuster.”

The Colorado web site designer, who has sued her state for the right to not include gay couples in her wedding design business, will see her case argued before the Supreme Court on Monday. . .

The case is a preemptive move against the Colorado’s public accommodations law, which mandates that businesses cannot refuse to serve people based on race, religion or sexual orientation. Smith, who does not believe in gay marriages because of her religious convictions, says the current law forces her to either design sites for same-sex weddings – if she offers them for opposite-sex couples – or face fines and jail time. Supreme Court Justice Under Fire for Christian Beliefs on LGBT Case

Justice Amy Coney Barrett was urged to recuse herself from an upcoming Supreme Court case on free speech and LGBT issues by former members of a niche Christian group she is affiliated with, arguing the faith organization has discriminatory policies against same-sex marriage.

Former members of the People of Praise organization recently told the Guardian that the justice’s “lifelong and continued” membership in the Christian group means she cannot rule impartially in the case surrounding a Colorado web designer who says her religious beliefs prevent her from creating custom wedding websites that celebrate same-sex marriages. Despite the request from former People of Praise members who call themselves “survivors” of the organization, legal experts say there’s “no basis” for Barrett to recuse herself.

“I think there is not a strong legal argument for her recusal if the basis for the suggestion is the views of the group that they attribute to her,” Jonathan Entin, a constitutional law professor at Case Western University, told the Washington Examiner.

“Supreme Court justices have views and are connected with a lot of organizations, a lot of groups just in general, and that’s not enough,” Entin said, adding it would be “a different situation if that group were a party to the case.” (Read more from “Supreme Court Justice Under Fire for Christian Beliefs on LGBT Case” HERE)

Russia Advances Law Banning LGBT, Pedophilia Propaganda

Lower-level Russian parliamentarians unanimously passed a law Thursday that would ban the distribution of materials promoting homosexuality, pedophilia, and gender reassignment.

More than 300 representatives of the State Duma, including the chairman, authored the new law, which imposes heavy fines of up to 10 million rubles ($165,000) for violating the ban by promoting such propaganda using online channels, media, or in public. Foreign citizens and stateless persons who violate the law would also face expulsion from the Russian Federation.

Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin said the law would help protect the motherland’s traditions and values for her children and the future of Russia from the “darkness spread by the United States and European states.”

Volodin called the U.S. the “center of this sodom in the world” in response to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who had allegedly proposed Russian representatives withdraw the draft law.

“There is no need to impose alien values on us,” Volodin said. “You destroyed yours — we’ll see how it all ends. But it’s definitely sad because this is sodom — there’s no other way to say it.” (Read more from “Russia Advances Law Banning LGBT, Pedophilia Propaganda” HERE)

State to Have Record 10% LGBT Legislature

California’s reputation as a trailblazer is about to add another statistic — a record-breaking number of LGBT members in its state legislature.

Three Democrats who are likely winners of the midterm election will bring the total up to 10% LGBT representation, a first in the nation. Depending on the outcome, this will mean 12 to 14 members, including four to six new ones, Mercury News reported.

The seats are in Los Angeles and its suburbs. The secretary of state has announced that election results will be certified by Dec. 16.

“Representation is power,” said Equality California Executive Director Tony Hoang in a statement. “LGBTQ+ people belong in every room and deserve a seat at every table where decisions impacting our community and our lives are being made. While state legislatures across the country attack our community — and our trans kids and LGBTQ+ students in particular — California will continue to lead the nation’s fight for LGBTQ+ equality and serve as a beacon of hope to LGBTQ+ people everywhere, in no small part because of our historic, proportional representation in Sacramento.” (Read more from “State to Have Record 10% LGBT Legislature” HERE)
