Comedian Says He Was Arrested by ‘Armed Police’ over Transgender Critical Tweets

Award-winning Irish comedy writer Graham Linehan said that he was arrested in London over posts on social media criticising transgenderism.

The creator of celebrated comedy programmes, including Father Ted and The IT Crowd, said on Tuesday that upon recently arriving at Heathrow Airport, he was met by five “armed police officers” who he says arrested him over “three tweets”.

“In a country where paedophiles escape sentencing, where knife crime is out of control, where women are assaulted and harassed every time they gather to speak, the state had mobilised five armed officers to arrest a comedy writer for this tweet (and no, I promise you, I am not making this up),” Linehan wrote on his Substack.

According to the Irish writer, the posts for which he was arrested included one in which he argued that biological men who enter female-only spaces are committing a “violent and abusive act”. “Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails, punch him in the balls,” Linehan suggested.

In March 1987, the body of successful private investigator Daniel Morgan was discovered in a London pub car park after an ax had been driven deep into his skull. Despite five police investigations in the 34 years since, no one has ever been brought to justice over the murder—but, on Tuesday, Morgan’s family finally started to get some answers.

A damning report from an independent panel—released Tuesday after eight years of work—has accused London’s Metropolitan Police of “a form of institutional corruption” that saw it trying to “protect itself” by failing to acknowledge its repeated missteps in Britain’s biggest unsolved murder. It also accused one of Rupert Murdoch’s tabloid titles of trying to disrupt the murder investigation by intimidating its lead detective. . .

Fillery later replaced Morgan as [Jonathan] Rees’ [business] partner at Southern Investigations, and the two were known to sell stories to the now-defunct Murdoch-owned tabloid newspaper the News of the World. The panel said it had been investigating “connections between private investigators, police officers, and journalists at the News of the World,” and named one of its reporters, Alex Marunchak, as having a close connection to Southern.

Journalists from the Murdoch paper were caught spying on the case’s lead investigator, Detective Chief Superintendent David Cook, and the panel’s report said that its gathered evidence “suggests very strongly that the intrusive activity suffered by DCS Cook… was arranged by former DS Fillery and Alex Marunchak with a view to discrediting DCS Cook and/or to intimidate him and thus disrupt” his murder investigation. Muslim Goes on Stabbing Spree in London Terror Attack

Law enforcement officials in London shot and killed a man on Sunday who allegedly went on a mass stabbing spree in a “terrorist-related” attack. . .

“As part of a proactive Counter Terrorism operation, armed officers were in immediate attendance and shot a male suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene,” D’Orsi continued. “A device was found strapped to the body of the suspect and specialist officers attended. Cordons were put in place and it was quickly established that this was a hoax device.”

“The situation has been contained and officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command are now leading an investigation into the incident,” D’Orsi added. “The incident was quickly declared as a terrorist incident and we believe it to be Islamist-related.”

British Prime Minister responded to the attack by tweeting, “Thank you to all emergency services responding to the incident in Streatham, which the police have now declared as terrorism-related. My thoughts are with the injured and all those affected.”

Several People Stabbed, Two Dead in London Bridge Terrorist Attack (VIDEO)

By Daily Caller. Several people were stabbed Friday near the London Bridge in England, and the suspect plus two victims died, U.K. officials said.

Police shot the suspect dead, according to Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu. Two people have died as a result of the stabbings, U.K. officials said, according to The Wall Street Journal. Three others are in London hospitals, according to Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick. . .

Authorities are treating the incident as a terrorist attack and the man had a fake suicide vest, Basu said. The suspect was reportedly a convicted terrorist who was released from jail upon agreeing he wear a tracking device, The Times of London reported, citing government sources.

He was allegedly convicted on an “Islamist terrorism-related offense” and was attending a conference on prison rehabilitation Friday.

“As you would expect due to the nature of the incident, we responded as though this was terrorist related. I’m now in a position to confirm that it has been declared a terrorist incident,” Basu said during a press conference, adding that authorities do not know a motive. London Bridge Attacker Named as Usman Khan, 28

By The Guardian. The Met has identified the London Bridge attacker as Usman Khan, a 28-year-old man released from prison on a licence (parole) in December 2018 after spending eight years in jail for terrorism offences.

He pleaded guilty in 2012 to offences including planning and raising funds for terror related activities and planned to establish, and train at, a terrorist military training facility in Kashmir. The judge termed his plans a “serious, long term venture in terrorism” and warned he may pose an ongoing risk to the public.

Forensic Science Has Finally Identified ‘Jack the Ripper’

Jack the Ripper, one of the most legendary serial killers in recorded history, has been identified — 131 years after he stalked the streets of London.

From August until November 1888, a faceless serial killer hunted in the poorest parts of London. “Jack the Ripper,” also known as the “Whitechapel Murderer” and “Leather Apron,” is believed to have slain at least five women: Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes, and Mary Jane Kelly.

Their throats were cut, their abdomens mutilated. Sometimes their organs were removed. Newspapers sensationalized the brutal killings for sales, and the story remained profitable to the tune of dozens of books, movies, and songs. Jack the Ripper became an icon of the deadly and depraved, yet no one was ever charged with his crimes. The mystery remained.

Now, more than a century after his reign of terror, forensic scientists have pinpointed his identity from a list of over 100 hypothetical possibilities. Primary police suspect, a then 23-year-old Polish barber by the name of Aaron Kosminski, is Jack. And while he died in an asylum by 1919, he left behind a vital clue to his bloody past. . .

London Mayor Sadiq Khan Has Solution to Recent Terror Attacks — It Rivals His Knife Ban for Sheer Brilliance

London Mayor Sadiq Khan responded to Wednesday’s reported terror attack by suggesting that vehicles be banned in certain parts of the city, particularly near the government buildings where Parliament meets.

Khan told BBC Radio that the important thing was to ensure that the people continued to have access to their government, but that measures to keep members of Parliament safe would benefit everyone.

“I think there would be lots of challenges if we would do the whole square. It is a thoroughfare for cars, vehicles and commercial deliveries going through London. So it’s possible to have a designed solution … in keeping our buildings and people as safe as we can do. And also not losing what is so wonderful about our city that is a vibrant democracy, people can walk around safely.”

Since July of 2016, when a man in a rented truck drove into a crowd in Nice, France, vehicle-based attacks have been on the rise — particularly in Europe where many cities have stricter regulations on guns and knives.

London’s Mayor Declares Intense New ‘Knife Control’ Policies to Stop Epidemic of Stabbings

By The Daily Wire. An epidemic of stabbings and acid attacks in London has gotten so bad that London mayor Sadiq Khan is announcing broad new “knife control” policies designed to keep these weapons of war out of the hands of Londoners looking to cause others harm.

The “tough, immediate” measures involve an incredible police crackdown, a ban on home deliveries of knives and acid, and expanding law enforcement stop-and-search powers so that police may stop anyone they believe to be a threat, or planning a knife or acid attack.

Khan announced Friday that the city has created a “violent crime taskforce of 120 officers” tasked with rooting out knife-wielding individuals in public spaces, and is pumping nearly $50 million dollars into the Metropolitan Police department, so that they can better arm themselves against knife attacks. He’s also empowering the Met Police to introduce “targeted patrols with extra stop and search powers for areas worst-affected,” according to a statement . . .

London Mayor Sadiq Khan Targets Knives as Murder Rate Spikes: ‘There Is Never a Reason to Carry a Knife’

By Fox News. London Mayor Sadiq Khan announced a tough crackdown on knives Sunday as the city reels from a spike in stabbings that have led its number of homicides to top New York City’s for two straight months . . .

London has seen more than 50 homicides already in 2018.

Most of the city’s murder victims have been stabbed to death, as guns are tightly restricted in Britain and shootings are relatively rare.

If the bloody trend continues, London will far surpass the 130 murders in 2017 and reach a number not seen since the early 2000s.

Gun-Free London’s Murder Rate Surpasses New York’s for the First Time

By CBS News. A surge of stabbings in London was blamed Monday for the city overtaking New York’s monthly murder tally for the first time in modern history. Fifteen people were murdered in London during February, compared to 14 in New York, according to police figures.

The British capital also suffered 22 fatal stabbings and shootings in March, higher than the 21 in New York. There have been 10 fatal stabbings in London in the last 19 days, following on from the 80 fatal stabbings recorded in the city last year.

London’s murder rate has grown by nearly 40 percent in three years, while police figures show that New York’s has fallen by 87 percent since 1990, raising pressure on London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick.

As CBS News partner network BBC News reported, London saw its first homicide of April on Monday night, when a 17-year-old girl was fatally shot near her home in Tottenham, north London, “for no reason at all,” according to a friend who arrived on the seen quickly. The same evening a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in another part of north London, leaving him with life changing injuries, according to the Metropolitan Police.

“There is no single cause, but there has been a big spike in both gun crime and knife crime across London,” Parliamentarian David Lammy, who represents Tottenham, told the BBC. “Certainly my constituency finds itself at the epicenter of that. 15 Year Old Arrested After 6 Injured in Acid Attack

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after six people were injured on Saturday night in what police suspect was a mass acid attack in Stratford, east London.

It came after a “noxious substance” was thrown in several areas – including by the Westfield shopping centre and Olympic Park – during a stand-off between two groups of males, police said.

Witnesses described how innocent victims caught in the crossfire screamed in pain after being hit with fluid, with one shouting: “‘I can’t see, I can’t see.”

Judge Rules Against London Hospital–In Favor of Charlie Gard’s Parents

A judge at London’s High Court ruled against the hospital and in favor of the parents of baby Charlie Gard–who is suffering from a rare genetic disorder–that they may present new scientific evidence concerning their son’s treatment, which will be reviewed this Thursday and could possibly lead to Charlie receiving treatment in the United States. But the outcome is still uncertain and Charlie’s fate is precarious.

Charlie Gard is 10 months old. He lives on life support in the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. His genetic disorder is destructive to muscles and organs, and most people who have the problem die in infancy. The baby’s parents, Chris Gard and Connie Yates, want their son to undergo an experimental treatment, which has been helpful in some cases. An online campaign has raised more than $1.5 million for the baby’s treament.

Under the health care laws in Britain, however, the parents are not allowed to pursue this option. The hospital contends Charlie is brain-damaged and beyond medical hope, and the hospital wants to shut off his life support. This denial of the parent’s desire to seek treatment for their son elsewhere led to several court rulings — in favor of the hospital. On Monday, July 10, the judge who previously ruled against the Gards agreed to review whatever new evience they can present to him for a reevaluation.

“The Great Ormond Street Hospital requested Mr. Justice Francis to reaffirm his prior ruling,” Americans United for Life President Catherine Glenn Foster told CNSNews.com from London. “So they argued for him to say that, indeed, there is no new evidence and that they were free to remove Charlie’s [life] support.” (Read more from “Judge Rules Against London Hospital–In Favor of Charlie Gard’s Parents” HERE)
