Bodycam Captures Cop Tasing, Taunting Handcuffed 67-Year-Old Man (VIDEO)

Shocking new bodycam footage captures the moment an irate Louisiana cop repeatedly zaps a 67-year-old man with a Taser, taunting the man by telling him to scream.

“Scream again,” Police Officer Nolan Dehon is heard telling Izell Richardson during the encounter in Port Allen last month. “Go ahead, scream. Scream again.”

When Richardson, who is handcuffed, yells for help from the back of the police cruiser, Dehon zaps him twice, KMOV-TV reported.

The 45-minute video shows Dehon still arguing with Richardson at the stationhouse — even as the elderly victim is being taken to the hospital.

Two Republicans Who Voted for Trump’s Conviction Were Immediately Censured

By Vox. In the hours after Republican Sens. Bill Cassidy (LA) and Richard Burr (NC) joined five other Republican senators in voting to convict former President Donald Trump on an article of impeachment for his role in inciting the January 6 insurrection, the state Republican parties in Louisiana and North Carolina wasted no time laying down a marker that the GOP still belongs to Trump.

The LAGOP and NCGOP each quickly censured Cassidy and Burr for their votes. In a statement posted to Twitter, the LAGOP wrote that it “condemn[s], in the strongest possible terms, the vote today by Sen. Cassidy to convict former President Trump,” while NCGOP Chair Michael Whatley released a statement denouncing Burr’s vote as “shocking and disappointing.” . . .

Burr was also mostly loyal to Trump throughout his term but is more free than some of his Republican colleagues to vote his conscience since he’s already announced he doesn’t plan to run for reelection next year. As Vox’s Li Zhou has reported, a recent Vox/Data for Progress poll found 69 percent of Republicans say they are less likely to support a senator who voted to convict Trump. Notably, one of the Republican running to fill Burr’s seat, former Rep. Mark Walker, was quick to post a tweet condemning the senator’s vote.

John Roberts Screws Protectors of Life Again, Strikes Down Louisiana’s Abortion Law

The Supreme Court on Monday struck down a Louisiana abortion law, handing a win to abortion rights advocates who feared the conservative court would break with past rulings to rein in protections that emerged from the landmark decision in Roe v. Wade.

The justices voted 5-4 to invalidate Louisiana’s admitting-privilege law in the first major abortion ruling of the Trump era, which came after the court struck down a nearly identical Texas restriction four years ago.

The ruling, which underscored the razor-thin voting margin over abortion rights, with Chief Justice John Roberts joining the court’s four liberals, is likely to make future Supreme Court decisions over a woman’s right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy an even more pressing issue in the coming presidential election.

The decision is also the clearest indication yet that the court, which now tilts more conservative with the addition of President Trump’s two nominees, is pursuing a more restrained approach than many abortion rights advocates feared.

In a concurring opinion, Roberts said his vote was guided by deference to prior rulings, particularly the court’s 2016 decision in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, which struck down a nearly identical Texas law. (Read more from “John Roberts Screws Protectors of Life Again, Strikes Down Louisiana’s Abortion Law” HERE)

Man Calls Cops, Says He Was Attacked With Axe — Things Get More Bizarre When Cops Show up at Scene

By The Blaze. Louisiana man Michael Auttonberry called the police Wednesday to report that he’d been attacked with an axe and had been stabbed in the head. . .

When police arrived at Auttonberry’s home, they likely expected to come face-to-face with a grisly scene. Instead, they met an irritated Auttonberry, who had been neither attacked with an axe nor stabbed in the head.

In fact, police couldn’t even find any intruders in the West Monroe man’s home, despite Auttonberry swearing at people who, according to police were “obviously not there.”

They did, however, find a bag of meth on Auttonberry’s nightstand and a gram of meth on Auttonberry’s person. (Read more from “Man Calls Cops, Says He Was Attacked With Axe — Things Get More Bizarre When Cops Show up at Scene” HERE)

OPSO: Man Says Ghost Planted Meth on Him After He Was Attacked With Axe

By KNOE 8. Authorities say they arrested a Ouachita Parish man on drug and false reporting charges after he told them quite a story – possibly involving a ghost.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office says they responded to a home on Lynette Drive in the West Monroe area after getting a call from a man who said he had been attacked with an axe. The man claimed someone “stabbed” him in the head with the bladed weapon.

When deputies arrived, they found the caller, Michael L. Auttenberry, at his front door cursing at people who were “obviously not there”. Deputies say the man was not calm and cursing at them too, so they placed him in handcuffs for their safety. Upon looking Auttenberry over, they say, they found no indication that he had actually been hit in the head with an axe. ‘Go Back to Mexico’ Remark Leads to Hate Crimes Charge

A south Louisiana man has been booked on hate crimes charges after police say he told woman in a store to “go back to Mexico” and then attacked her parents.

Gonzales Police said 60-year-old Robert Ray of Donaldsonville approached the 19-year-old woman and made the comment at a store on Friday.

When her mother, Salome Martinez, told Ray the comment was “not a nice thing to say,” police say, Ray then pushed her to the floor. Police say Ray also hit the woman’s father, Alfredo Buitureira, with his fist and a boot when Buitureira intervened. (Read more from “‘Go Back to Mexico’ Remark Leads to Hate Crimes Charge” HERE)

Democrat Declared Winner in Runoff Election for La. Governor

Democratic state lawmaker John Bel Edwards defeated Republican Sen. David Vitter in Saturday’s runoff election for Louisiana governor.

Edwards will take over the office from former 2016 Republican presidential candidate Gov. Bobby Jindal in January . . .

Vitter entered the race as the early favorite amid a field of lesser known and lesser funded candidates, including state Democratic Rep. Edwards. However, after months of attacks, include those about his 2007 prostitution scandal, Vitter barely defeated his two Republican challengers in last month’s open primary and finished second behind Edwards by roughly 14 percentage points . . .

To be sure, Democrats didn’t expect to win the Louisiana governorship, considering Republicans now control every governorship and state legislature in the Deep South.

And when Vitter entered the race in January 2014 as the frontrunner, he was pulling in tremendous sums of campaign cash and firing up a dominant political machine that he’s used to get himself and his allies regularly elected to Louisiana offices. 2 Louisiana Officers Arrested in 6-Year-Old Boy’s Shooting Death

Louisiana police arrested two officers for their involvement in the shooting death of a 6-year-old autistic boy, the head of the state police announced Friday.

The boy was killed and his father was wounded when marshals opened fire on their vehicle in Marksville Tuesday night. Col. Mike Edmonson gave few details about the shooting at a press conference on Friday, but made his disgust clear . . .

The boy was shot and killed and his father, Chris Few, was wounded when officers opened fire on their vehicle as Few was fleeing . . .

State police have been investigating the Tuesday night shooting that raised questions almost from the start. Edmonson said earlier that no weapon was found in the vehicle.

It’s still unclear what triggered the shooting and what led police to pursue Few. The Avoyelles Parish coroner said earlier this week that officers were serving a warrant on Few when he fled. But Edmondson had no information about a warrant. (Read more from “2 Louisiana Officers Arrested in 6-Year-Old Boy’s Shooting Death” HERE)

DOJ Lawyers Attacking Louisiana Voucher Program Tied to Liberal Causes

Department of Justice attorneys pursuing the case against the Louisiana school choice program have a history of liberal advocacy, a fact that experts say calls into question the DOJ’s contention it is not against school vouchers.

The DOJ said it is not opposed to the voucher program in a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner (R., Ohio), insisting that it is only seeking information to ensure the state is in compliance with desegregation laws.

“We are neither opposing Louisiana’s school voucher program nor seeking to revoke vouchers from students,” the DOJ said. “When properly run, state and local voucher programs need not conflict with legal requirements to desegregate schools.”

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R.) said the move was nothing more than a “P.R. stunt.”

“While attempting to rebrand its legal challenge as merely an attempt to seek information about implementation of the scholarship program, the administration’s real motive still stands—forcing parents to go to federal court to seek approval for where they want to send their children to school,” Jindal said in a statement.

Justice Department Bids to Trap Poor, Black Children in Ineffective Schools

Barack Obama, Arne Duncan, Joe BidenNine OF 10 Louisiana children who receive vouchers to attend private schools are black. All are poor and, if not for the state assistance, would be consigned to low-performing or failing schools with little chance of learning the skills they will need to succeed as adults. So it’s bewildering, if not downright perverse, for the Obama administration to use the banner of civil rights to bring a misguided suit that would block these disadvantaged students from getting the better educational opportunities they are due.

The Justice Department has petitioned a U.S. District Courtto bar Louisiana from awarding vouchers for the 2014-15 school year to students in public school systems that are under federal desegregation orders, unless the vouchers are first approved by a federal judge. The government argues that allowing students to leave their public schools for vouchered private schools threatens to disrupt the desegregation of school systems. A hearing is tentatively set for Sept. 19.

There’s no denying the state’s racist history of school segregation or its ugly efforts in the late 1960s and early 1970s to undermine desegregation orders by helping white children to evade racially integrated schools. These efforts included funneling public money to all-white private schools. But the situation today bears no resemblance to those terrible days. Since most of the students using vouchers are black, it is, as State Education Superintendent John White pointed out to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, “a little ridiculous” to argue that the departure of mostly black students to voucher schools would make their home school systems less white. Every private school participating in the voucher program must comply with the color-blind policies of the federal desegregation court orders.

Black Legislator Switches to GOP, Calls on African-Americans to Abandon Plantation, the Party of “Overseers” (+video)

By Bob Unruh. A state senator from Louisiana who recently announced his departure from the Democratic Party to become a Republican says the party of President Obama is one of “overseers.”

State Sen. Elbert Guillory released a video Sunday explaining his reason for leaving the Democrats, citing their opposition to civil rights, their attitudes toward people and their desire for “control.”

He said the black community, which he invited to join him in the move, should quit exchanging self-reliance for the “allegiance of overseers” through government programs that are intended not to help people, but to control them.

He said in his video message that Democrats push a social justice and welfare aid strategy to manage citizens, not help them from poverty.

“In recent history, the Democratic Party has created the illusion that their agenda and their policies are what’s best for black people. Somehow, it has been forgotten that the Republican Party was founded in 1854 as an abolitionist movement, with one simple creed – that slavery is a violation of the rights of man,” he said. Sen. Guillory went on to say:

“But most importantly, it is the idea that the individual must be free to pursue his or her own happiness, free from Government dependence, and free from Government control. Because to be truly free, is to be reliant on no one, other than the author of our destiny. These are the ideas are at the core of Republican party … My brothers and sisters of the American community, please join me in abandoning the Government plantation and the party of disappointment.”
