Mike Rowe Chimes in on Nike’s Betsy Ross Play. His Take Is Spot On.

Former “Dirty Jobs” host is one of the most insightful conservatives out there. He has a keen understanding of American history, rugged individualism and limited government. He has the ability to call out people’s stupidity in the nicest, most sincere of ways.

Rowe took to Facebook to answer one of his followers’ questions: why on earth would Nike listen to washed up quarterback Colin Kaepernick? . . .

“I think Nike has the right to decorate their shoes with whatever flag they desire. I think Kaepernick has the right to offer marketing advice to any company that’ll take it. And I think you and I have the right to purchase whatever brand of tennis shoes we choose,” Rowe explained in a long Facebook post.

While every individual person and corporation has the right to make decisions, we don’t have to agree with them. And, as a consumer, we can choose to spend our money with businesses that support our conservative principles.

“In other words, I’m tempted on this day to remind you that there’s nothing inherently dangerous about a sneaker company currying favor with a woke athlete, or fellow citizens complaining about displays of patriotism and military might. On the other hand, I think Ronald Reagan was right when he said we’re always one generation away from losing the freedoms we currently enjoy,” Rowe said. “Along with the siren song of socialism, the persistent promise of ‘free’ stuff, and the breathtaking level of censorship on our college campuses, I worry about the growing belief among many that we can somehow improve our present by erasing our past; by toppling statues, outlawing ‘problematic’ symbols, or rewriting specific pieces of our history in ways that leave us feeling less offended.” (Read more from “Mike Rowe Chimes in on Nike’s Betsy Ross Play. Mike Rowe Has a Very Unique Response to Trump’s State of the Union Address – Every American Should Hear This

By The Blaze. Mike Rowe responded to the good economic and employment news from the State of the Union address that President Donald Trump gave on Tuesday, and he had a very unique take.

Rowe was asked if he was shocked by Democrats not standing or applauding for the good announcements from the president during his speech. . .

“What the president just said,” Rowe explained, “I can’t quote him verbatim, but it was really interesting, it was ‘vengeance, this or that, this or that, this or that.’ Now, arguments aside, the fundamental choices are binary in everything, right now, he’s right, it is ‘this or that.'”

“It’s dangerous to frame everything as good or bad, right or wrong, blue collar or white collar, right? That’s where we are as a country,” he said. “As a result we simply don’t know what to stand for, because when we hear something we agree with, if it’s coming out of a source we don’t like, we’re paralyzed.” . . .

“So my thought watching the speech was,” he concluded, “he can’t do or say anything that’s gonna make anybody stand who doesn’t like him, and neither can the other side, so the question is what can we talk about?”

State of the Union 2019: President Donald Trump Calls for Unity, Renews Pledge to Build Wall

By ABC News. President Donald Trump on Tuesday night gave his second State of the Union address, one week after he originally was invited to deliver it but didn’t because of the longest-ever government shutdown.

During the speech, the president stopped short of declaring a national emergency to obtain funds to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border without congressional approval. . .

However, he did not directly threaten another government shutdown, though he called on both Republicans and Democrats to “join forces” and pass a bill in the next 10 days.

It was the first State of the Union address Trump delivered before a divided Congress. Last year, the Senate and House were controlled by the president’s own Republican party. This year, Democrats re-took the House.

Trump also delivered his nearly 90-minute address to a House chamber filled with more women and people of color than ever before. During the speech, there was a brief moment of unity propelled by congresswomen in white and their allies show solidarity with the women’s suffrage movement. Mike Rowe: Nike Can Pick Whomever They Like for Their Ads, but I Would Put This 9/11 Hero on a Billboard

This is a free country. Nike can pick whomever they like for their ads. We may not like it. That’s fine; don’t buy their stuff. One veteran launched his own line of gear called Just Stand, a response to the ongoing controversy of athletes, and now even some public officials, kneeling during the national anthem. It’s disrespectful. Not illegal for sure, but don’t cry and whine when patriotic Americans take you to the woodshed. For many, they see the kneelers as a group of people disrespecting the flag, the anthem, the country, and our veterans—those defending our freedom to enjoy these various sporting events throughout the year. It’s also seen as a sign of disrespect to those who have been killed in defense of this great country. Liberals don’t see it that way. They’re getting frustrated that people don’t see it their way, which shows the minority view point that is American liberalism. Even New England Patriots fans felt kneeling was out of line, one fan actually agreed with Trump: the players kneeling should be fired.

Colin Kaepernick, a former QB for the San Francisco 49ers, is one of the faces of this movement who was recently picked to be the face of Nike’s Just Do It campaign. It focuses on sacrifice—and how much it might cost someone due to his or her beliefs. It’s political. It’s meant to be controversial, and it was a huge middle finger to patriotic Americans. Again, this is America. She’ll give you a helluva fight for what you believe in, but while some are rightfully angry about Kaepernick’s nonsense, there’s Mike Rowe, the television host who’s famous for Dirty Jobs and Somebody’s Gotta Do It on Discovery and CNN respectively. He also narrates the Deadliest Catch series.

Rowe is known for weighing in on the political scene about the importance of work and job creation in America. He recently responded to a fan’s question about this whole Nike controversy with Kaepernick. And while he has no problem with the sports giant picking whomever they like for their ad campaigns, he humbly suggested picking Tom Burnett to be on a billboard. Burnett was one of the many heroes aboard Flight 93 who was killed trying to prevent the plane from carrying out an attack on its intended target: The U.S. Capitol Building. The hijacked plane experienced a revolt by passengers onboard, whose heroics were captured in the intense 2006 film United 93. All were killed when the plane crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Rowe included the transcript of the last calls Burnett made to his wife, Deena, before he and others on United 93 decided to sacrifice themselves to prevent another attack. They died protecting this country. They’re heroes. They sacrificed themselves to defend their fellow citizens. That’s bravery. That’s patriotism. It came in a situation that one never hopes to be in—ever, but on that day, evil reared its head. And these heroic souls challenged it head on. Yes, it’s certainly worth honoring for all coming time. Offended Woman Says Mike Rowe’s ‘Hard Work’ Ethic Belittles Higher Education. Here’s His Biting Response.

TV star Mike Rowe posted an NPR article to Facebook on Thursday that noted the massive number of vacant high-paying trade jobs as high school graduates continue to sign up for four-year-degrees. The post, which included commentary from Rowe, was not well received by everyone, especially one woman who was offended by Rowe’s pro-“hard work” mantra, telling him he’s attacking higher education and shaming those who choose to attend university.

“Yesterday, I posted an article that dared to question the universal wisdom of pushing everyone toward a four-year degree. The article reached 3 million people, and not everyone was pleased,” posted Rowe on Friday.

Here’s what one Dawn Baker wrote to Mr. Rowe: “Is it your intent to make those who choose college to feel ashamed, lazy and brainwashed? Our country’s education system is under attack, and you seem to be supplying more ammunition to those attacking it……There’s a reason many of these jobs pay well – they are truly HARD WORK – physically hard. Dangerous hard. Mentally hard. Feel free to send reps to the local unemployment office and brow beat them to send people to these jobs. Whether you mean to or not – your are sending a very bad message to those who want to destroy our higher education system.”

The former “Dirty Jobs” star agreed with Baker about higher education being under attack — sort of. “You’re right — our countries educational system is indeed under attack. But the attack is from within, and the wounds are self-inflicted,” he explained. . .

“Point is, Dawn, the hypocrisy in our educational system is rank, the bias undeniable, the disrespect for our flag ubiquitous, and the entire ‘safe space’ mentality the exact opposite of what life is like in the real world. Higher education has created its own PR nightmare,” he wrote. “Is it any wonder parents are trying to figure out if their kids should be sent into such a lopsided environment? Is it any wonder reasonable people are beginning to question the value of a four-year degree?” (Read more from “Offended Woman Says Mike Rowe’s ‘Hard Work’ Ethic Belittles Higher Education. Mike Rowe Absolutely Destroys Guy Who Accuses Him of Being a White Nationalist

“Dirty Jobs” host Mike Rowe had some choice words Tuesday night in response to a question he got accusing him of harboring “white nationalist” sympathies.

Rowe posted a question submitted to him on his Facebook page that accused the TV host’s advocacy for the skilled trades of amounting to anti-intellectualism, and therefore racism.

A man named Chuck Adkins asked, “One of the tenants of white nationalism is that college educated people are academic elitests. Comment? No? I’m not surprised. You never take a political stand because you don’t want to alienate anybody. Its bad for business. I get it. But there is a current of anti intellectualism in this country – promoted by Republicans. Those people love you, and they think your initiative is their initiative. Meanwhile, the rest of the world is kickin our ass academically.”

Rowe, a popular jovial TV personality, went off in a long, brutal response.

“Since we’re being candid, allow me to say how much I dislike your post. Everything about it annoys me – your smug and snarky tone, your appalling grammar, your complete lack of evidence to support your claims, and of course, the overarching logical fallacy that informs your entire position,” Rowe wrote. “What really bugs me though, is the fact that you’re not entirely wrong. It’s true; I haven’t shared any political opinions this week, in part anyway, because doing so might very well be ‘bad for business.’”
