Miley Cyrus’ Reaction to Trump’s Election Was Surprisingly Refreshing

The general reaction of Hollywood liberals following the 2016 presidential election results has been one of anger, sadness, and horror. But Miley Cyrus of all people had a surprisingly gracious response to Donald Trump’s victory.

After Wednesday morning’s announcement, the controversial pop singer tweeted a video to her fans in which she verbally grappled with the implications of a Trump win.

Some may argue that the tears were a little much, but those individuals should recall that many Republicans were just as devastated by the 2012 election results. Given this, Cyrus’ reflection was a refreshing departure from the pointless whining, name-calling, and anti-American rhetoric of her peers.

“…I do want to say that I’ve been very vocal [in] my support for everyone besides Donald Trump,” she admitted. “Heavily supported Bernie, heavily supported Hillary. And I still think that in her lifetime she deserves to be the first female president. And that’s what makes me so sad—is that I just wish she had that opportunity because she’s fought for so long, and because I believe her when she says she loves this country. This is all she’s ever done; she’s given her life to make it better.”

“But like Trump so ironically played after his speech, that said you can’t always get what you want. And happy hippies, we adjust, and we accept everyone, and who they are. And so Donald Trump, I accept you. And, this hurts to say, but I even accept you as the president of the United States. And that’s fine. That’s fine because, I think now, I want to be a hopeful hippie.

But please, please just treat people with love and treat people with compassion and treat people with respect, and I will do the same for you. And … anything you ever want to talk about or understand—maybe people that don’t think the same way that you and some of the people that support you do—please, if you wanna open your mind and you wanna open your heart, I would love to give you a key.”

Cyrus—the same person who vowed to flee the country should Trump win the election—demonstrated the type of humility and genuine care for the American people that is virtually nonexistent among the entertainment industry’s elite. If she can show a change of heart and humanize the man she once labeled her enemy, then liberals and conservatives should be hopeful about the hard conversations and compromises that undoubtedly lie ahead. Bristol Palin Slams Miley Cyrus’ Mockery of Christian Conservatives

Bristol Palin, the daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, has offered up some harsh words for popstar Miley Cyrus after she mocked Christian conservatives for believing in Old Testament “fairy tales” and said those who oppose gay marriage “shouldn’t be allowed to make laws.”

“In her cover story for Paper magazine, Miley Cyrus spoke candidly about her sexuality, her hippie lifestyle, and her politics,” Palin, 24, wrote in a June 11 Patheos blog post titled “Miley Cyrus Claims She’s ‘Least Judgmental Person Ever,’ Calls Christians ‘Insane Motherf–kers.”

She continued, “While her nude photo shoot has attracted the attention of many, it is her hilarious tirade about tolerance that turned my head.”

In the June 9 interview, Cyrus, who was raised in a Christian home and baptized in a Southern Baptist church, referred to her parents as “conservative-ass mother–kers” and railed against those who oppose same-sex marriage, arguing that “those people [shouldn’t] get to make our laws.”

The “Wrecking Ball” singer, who called herself “the least judgemental person ever” in the interview, also slammed Christians who believe Noah’s Ark was a real vessel: “That’s f–king insane,” she told the magazine. “We’ve outgrown that fairy tale, like we’ve outgrown f–king Santa and the tooth fairy.” (Read more from “Bristol Palin Slams Miley Cyrus’ Mockery of Christian Conservatives” HERE)

Miley Cyrus Mocks Christians Who Believe in Old Testament ‘Fairy Tales’, Says Those Who Oppose Homosexuality ‘Shouldn’t Get to Make Laws’

By Leah Marieann Klett. Pop singer Miley Cyrus recently slammed Christian conservatives for believing in “fairy tales” like the story of Noah’s ark and argued that those who hold to a traditional definition of marriage should not be permitted to make laws within the United States.

In a recent interview with Paper magazine, Cyrus, who appears nude within the publication, refers to herself as the “least judgmental person ever.”

However, the magazine notes that while she was raised in a Christian home and was baptized in a Southern Baptist church, the “Wrecking Ball” singer “maintains a particular contempt for fundamentalist lawmakers who rally against this sort of progressive, potentially life-saving changes [for the LGBT] community.”

“Those people [shouldn’t] get to make our laws,” Cyrus said of Christians who hold to a traditional view of marriage. (Read more from this story HERE)

Bill Maher: Ted Cruz Reminds Me of Miley Cyrus

Sen. Ted Cruz’s 21-hour Senate floor speech reminded liberal comic Bill Maher of someone else: Miley Cyrus.

“I was thinking the other night, he reminds me of Miley Cyrus, Ted Cruz. Because he is not afraid to incur the wrath of even some of his fans for the greater good of drawing attention to himself,” Maher said Friday on his HBO program “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

In addition to drawing comparisons between controversial performances, Maher said that the filibuster is “the political version of twerking,” but like Cyrus, the Texas Republican will bounce back.

“I really think that a filibuster is the political version of twerking. And for those people who say, ‘Ted Cruz, he hung himself.’ No. Just like Miley Cyrus, she came out the winner in that. Everybody said, ‘oh, she’s ruined her career.’ She’s on the cover of Rolling Stone, her records are outselling anybody else’s. I think Ted Cruz is going to be the winner too,” Maher said.

Who knew she was political? Miley Cyrus sports new tattoo with Teddy Roosevelt quote

Miley Cyrus debuted a new tattoo yesterday, with eagle-eyed fans spotting that the phrase is a quote from former President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt.

The tattoo, which features on 19-year-old Miley’s left forearm, reads: ‘So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat.’

The quote is taken from Roosevelt’s speech which he made at the the Sorbonne, Paris, on April 23rd 1910.

The full speech reads: ‘It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better.

‘The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without error or shortcoming, but who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself for a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat.’
