Border Patrol Arrests MS-13 Member Who Traveled with Caravan

U.S. Border Patrol agents have arrested a member of the infamous Salvadoran MS-13 gang who admitted to authorities that he traveled with a caravan of Central American migrants who were hoping to qualify for asylum in America.

Agents arrested Jose Villalobos-Jobel, 29, shortly after 6 p.m. on Saturday east of the Calexico Port of Entry on the U.S. side of the border, Customs and Border Protection said in a statement Wednesday.

During questioning at the El Centro station, the Honduran citizen confessed that he is an active member of MS-13 and had intended to enter the country illegally after traveling to the U.S. with the caravan of thousands of other migrants. He is in custody pending his deportation back to Honduras. . .

In April, another MS-13 member, Herberth Geovani Argueta-Chavez, 18, was apprehended after illegally entering the U.S. with a group suspected to be part of the caravan that headed for the border last spring. He posed as an unaccompanied minor before police discovered his identity as an adult gang member.

Massive Federal Operation Captures Over 20 Dangerous MS-13 Gang Members

By Conservative Tribune. The role of federal law enforcement has come under great scrutiny lately, but an operation in California just showed how important the Department of Homeland Security can be.

Over 20 gang members that belong to the infamous Mara Salvatrucha group — better known as MS-13 — were just arrested on multiple charges on Friday.

“The charges included assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering and conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances,” reported The Washington Examiner.

It wasn’t that long ago that President Donald Trump came under fire for saying that MS-13 members were “animals,” and alluding to serious crimes like kidnapping and rape from suspects moving across the border. . .

“Additionally, two MS-13 members were also charged with with kidnapping and murder in aid of racketeering, and three others were charged with conspiracy and assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, according to two federal indictments,” continued The Examiner. MS-13 Gang Used California Farm Town as a Base for Crime

By AP. More than two dozen MS-13 gang members and affiliates were arrested and charged following a monthslong murder and drug trafficking investigation centered on a rural California farm city that the gang turned into a base for its operations, U.S. and state prosecutors said Friday.

MS-13 took advantage of limited resources in the city of Mendota and used it and other areas of Fresno County to “conduct their crimes, to hide out from crimes that they committed in other jurisdictions and to prepare to commit crimes in states as far away as New York,” Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp said at a news conference in Fresno with state and federal officials.

Mendota has a population of roughly 11,000 people and lies 35 miles (60 kilometers) west of Fresno in California’s agriculturally rich Central Valley. Nearly the entire population is Hispanic, with many immigrants from El Salvador. (Read more from “MS-13 Gang Used California Farm Town as a Base for Crime” HERE)

To Counter Trump, Vox Defends MS-13 as Nice Kids Who Ride Bikes, Work After-School Jobs

Vox and ProPublica take aim at President Trump’s heightened concern for gangs in the United States in a recently published video, claiming his harsh characterizations of MS-13 are unfair.

The gang, also known as Mara Salvatrucha, numbers in the tens of thousands and is composed primarily of outlaws from El Salvador, Honduras, and other Central American countries. Trump’s hardline stance on crime and border security has made MS-13 a more widely recognized public menace. But instead of acknowledging the rising violent threat that MS-13 poses to the American people, progressive media outlets like Vox and ProPublica are casting the Trump Administration’s actions with regard to illegal immigration and law enforcement as irresponsible, dangerous, and factually unsound.

The video — candidly titled, “Why the street gang MS-13 is an American problem” — opens by framing MS-13 as a uniquely American issue. It’s true the gang was founded in the United States during the early 1980s, but the roots of MS-13 are distinctly un-American.

Let’s review: Beginning in 1979, El Salvador was gripped by a nasty and brutal civil war between the established military junta and a newly-formed coalition of Marxist insurgents. Around a million people were displaced by the 12-year conflict and many sought asylum in the United States. The refugees, mainly anti-government sympathizers who resented American intervention in the war, illegally crossed the border and settled in southern California, mostly in Los Angeles’ Pico-Union neighborhood. Unsurprisingly, the young men from these impoverished alien communities started street gangs for personal and financial security. By 1984, they called themselves “Mara Salvatrucha” as a designation of their ties to the Salvadoran rebels.

This context is wholly absent from Vox’s presentation. The video succinctly describes the origins of MS-13 as “a group of teenagers, hanging out, smoking pot, listening to rock music” who eventually became “juvenile delinquents involved in street crimes who were stuffed into American jails.” (Read more from “To Counter Trump, Vox Defends MS-13 as Nice Kids Who Ride Bikes, Work After-School Jobs” HERE)

MS-13 Brings Its Terror and Recruiting to Middle Schools

The violent gang known as MS-13 has brought its terror and recruiting tactics to a middle school in Maryland, The Washington Post reported.

Members of Mara Salvatrucha, the notorious El Salvadorian street gang also known as MS-13, have infiltrated an overwhelmingly Hispanic school, William Wirt Middle School in Riverdale, Md., to sell drugs, draw pro-MS-13 graffiti, and recruit immigrants from Central America who have fled their respective countries because of the brutal gang. School teachers estimate about a dozen members are there now, The Post reported. . .

“We now have two to three fights per day,” said a school instructor who, like all of the sources The Post cited, requested anonymity for fear of losing their jobs and potential threats against their lives. “At this point, it’s completely out of control.”

School officials deny there is a gang problem in the school. “The principal is aware of concerns about gangs in the community, but has not experienced any problems in school,” school spokesperson John White said. . .

MS-13’s motto is “rape, control, kill” and the group is referred to as “animals” by President Donald Trump. Its recruitment of teenagers in middle school appears to be a part of a larger, more disturbing trend, as The Daily Caller reported in 2015.
