Judge Rules Muslim, Christian Parents Can’t Opt Out of Lessons on Gender Identity, Sexuality (VIDEO)

A Maryland district court ruled Thursday that Christian and Muslim parents cannot opt their children out of lessons on gender identity and sexual orientation.

A coalition of religious parents sued the Montgomery County Public School Board in March after being notified that students could no longer opt out of lessons discussing gender identity and sexual orientation, arguing that such instruction violates their religious rights. Judge Deborah Boardman denied a preliminary injunction that would have reinstated an opt-out policy ahead of the 2023-2024 school year that begins on Monday.

“The Court concludes the plaintiffs’ asserted due process right to direct their children’s upbringing by opting out of a public-school curriculum that conflicts with their religious views is not a fundamental right. Rational basis review is the appropriate level of scrutiny,” Boardman wrote in her opinion.

Montgomery County Public Schools released a list of LGBTQ-inclusive books in November 2022 that would be implemented in elementary school lessons throughout the year, according to a school presentation. In pre-kindergarten, students will be read “Pride Puppy,” a story of a family celebrating Pride Day that discusses the words “intersex” and “drag queen,” and in fifth-grade students will read “Born Ready,” a book that promotes the idea that “a child-knows-best” when discussing “gender transitioning.”

“Montgomery County Public Schools remains committed to cultivating an inclusive and welcoming learning environment and creating opportunities where all students see themselves and their families in curriculum materials,” the district said in a press release following the decision. “We also will continue to adhere to our responsibility to include instructional materials that reflect the diversity of the local and global community by exploring the aspirations, issues, and achievements of women and men, people with disabilities, people from diverse racial, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds, as well as those of diverse gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation.”

‘White as Snow’ Activist Who Allegedly Faked Racial Identity Resigns After Own Mom Outs Her

A Muslim progressive activist who has allegedly been lying for years about her ethnic identify, claiming to be a woman of color, has resigned from her position as senior inclusion officer of a Philadelphia-based social justice group.

“Raquel Saraswati, who is facing public allegations that she misrepresented her background and past associations, has informed us of her intention to separate from the organization,” American Friends Service Committee rep Layne Mullett told USA Today.

Saraswati, 39, who was born Rachel Elizabeth Seidel, was the chief equity, inclusion and culture officer of the Philadelphia-based, progressive Quaker group that fights “violence, inequality and oppression.”

She was recently outed by the Intercept for pretending to be of Latin, South Asian and Arab descent — and her mother, Carol Perone, told the outlet that the woman is actually of British, German and Italian lineage.

Possible Serial Killer Targeting Muslims on the Lam

Authorities are investigating the possibility that a serial killer has been hunting Muslim people in Albuquerque, New Mexico after four men of the faith were murdered there in the past year.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said Saturday that she deployed additional state police to help with the probe into the “targeted killings.”

“The targeted killings of Muslim residents of Albuquerque is deeply angering and wholly intolerable,” she wrote on Twitter.

“We will not stop in our pursuit of justice for the victims and their families and are bringing every resource to bear to apprehend the killer or killers — and we WILL find them,” the Democrat said in a statement.

Top Muslim Leaders Arrested at Speaker Ryan’s Office

Declaring their solidarity with the children of illegal immigrants, a prominent Muslim activist and several leaders of a U.S. front-organization for the Muslim Brotherhood were among the people arrested Monday in a protest outside the office of House Speaker Paul Ryan in which they demanded a meeting to express their concerns.

Capitol Police led away in handcuffs Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, and two CAIR chapter leaders along with Linda Sarsour, the former executive director of the Arab American Association of New York, who drew national attention last year as co-chairman of the Women’s March . . .

The other protesters arrested Monday were Dawud Walid, executive director of CAIR Michigan; Zahra Billoo, civil-rights attorney and the executive director of CAIR’s San Francisco Bay Area chapter; Omar Suleiman, president of the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research; Mujahid Fletcher, CEO of the advertising agency FocusPoint Studios; and Talib Shareef, president and imam of the Nation’s Mosque, Masjid Muhammad, in Washington, D.C.

Suleiman said Trump administration immigration policies are “creating real fear,” explaining he and his colleagues are fighting white supremacy because “Islamophobia,” racism and hostility against immigrants all stem from the same roots, reported Al Jazeera.

The White House and Republican and Democratic congressional leaders are engaged in negotiations over the status of nearly 700,000 children in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program, established through a constitutionally questionable executive order by President Obama. Trump announced last year a plan to phase out the program and set a deadline of March 5 for Congress to decide the fate of the illegal immigrants. However, a lower court ordered the administration to continue to accept renewal applications indefinitely, and the U.S. Supreme Court declined last month to take up the administration’s appeal. ‘Muslim Land’: Woman Sets Catholic University Ablaze in Series of Revenge Attacks

A 19-year-old former student is being accused of lighting eight fires around a Catholic university’s campus in Minnesota.

Prosecutors say Tnuza J. Hassan, of Minneapolis, set the fires on the campus of St. Catherine’s University in retaliation against U.S. actions in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Star Tribune reported.

Hassan, who used to attend the school, has been charged with one count of felony first-degree arson. She allegedly told police “she wanted the school to burn to the ground and that her intent was to hurt people,” according to a complaint filed in Ramsey County District Court.

Hassan reportedly claimed that similar incidents happened on “Muslim land,” but in those cases, no one cared if any Muslims were hurt.

“You guys are lucky that I don’t know how to build a bomb because I would have done that,” she told police and fire investigators.

An earlier report from the Tribune indicated that no one was injured during the incidents, which started late Wednesday morning.

Objects such as books, toilet paper and sanitary napkins were among the items to be set on fire across St. Catherine’s campus.

Trash cans were used to start all but one of the eight fires, officials said.

The fires didn’t cause any major damage, with a chair being the largest item that was burned.

A sprinkler system in the residence hall was responsible for putting out that blaze.

Meanwhile, firefighters put out other fires by either stomping on them or using fire extinguishers.

“All of the fires were quite small and contained quite easily,” said university spokeswoman Sara Berhow.

Hassan was caught after authorities found surveillance footage of her going into a building before one of the fires broke out. She was later arrested at a residence hall.

Moreover, she reportedly told police she had written a letter to her roommate that included “radical ideas about supporting Muslims and bringing back the caliphate,” according to the complaint. Her roommates were scared by the letter, and gave it to campus security.

Hassan appeared in court on Friday. She had to surrender her passport, and bond was set at $100,000.

The former student arrived dressed in an orange jumpsuit, and what the Tribune described as a “makeshift hijab,” as she used some sort of black face covering and a white sheet wrapped around her head, leaving only her eyes exposed.

Patrick Nwaneri, an attorney representing Hassan, asked for $5,000 bail. His request was rejected by Ramsey County District Judge Sophia Vuelo, who said the accused was a threat to public safety.

Gun Range Owner Who Banned Muslims From Training Now Running for Governor

Citizen activist Jan Morgan has officially announced her candidacy for the position of governor of Arkansas.

Morgan will reportedly be running as a Republican against incumbent Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson. The current governer has held the position since his election in 2014, according to The Kansas City Star.

The gun rights activist and owner of Gun Cave Indoor Firing Range in Hot Springs, Arkansas, reportedly made headlines back in 2014 for declaring that her range would be a “Muslim Free Zone,” according to The Daily Wire.

“I refuse to train the next Islamic terrorist,” she wrote on social media.

As reported by The Daily Wire, Morgan’s campaign announcement for the gubernatorial position came shortly before the new year with the launch of a campaign video.

In the video, Morgan denounces other Republicans elected to the state legislature who she says have “legislated like Democrats.”

Morgan asserts that critics have said Arkansans are uninformed about the issues affecting their state. However, she expressed optimism and insisted that the people of Arkansas are “smarter than they think.”

“I am excited about the future potential of our beautiful state, and her people,” Morgan said.

She continued: “I am excited because I have discovered the skeptics were wrong when they said, the people of Arkansas are not educated on the issues in their state, and believe the lies of professional politicians who are taxing them into poverty, regulating them out of business and enslaving them with government entitlements.”

“I know the skeptics are wrong about our people. Our folks are smarter than they think.”

Morgan went on to declare the Arkansas state government needed transparency, and insisted that legislators should not be able to “hide behind group votes.”

“We must demand roll call votes on all issues in the Senate and House judiciary,” she added. “Legislators should not be allowed to hide behind group voice votes, where there is no record of how they voted when representing their constituency.”

Also on Morgan’s agenda is cutting government waste, citing slashing spending and reducing the size of government as a way to revive The Natural State.

“We must cut waste in state spending. But this doesn’t mean sacrificing essential services to the poor, the elderly, the sick, and the disabled,” she said. “Nor does it mean cutting badly needed funds that our counties depend on.”

She added that “there is plenty of waste to cut.”

Morgan also noted Arkansas relatively high tax rates for income, state and property taxes and claimed that nearby states like Texas (which has no state income tax) were drawing business from the state.

Unsurprisingly, gun rights are another hot-button issue for Morgan. Furthering Second Amendment rights, including open carry laws are also on the candidate’s radar, according to The Daily Wire.

Morgan’s declaration of a “Muslim free zone” has attracted scrutiny before.

Civil liberties advocates have accused Morgan of violating the Civil Rights Act, according to The Guardian.

Nikki Haley Sets the Record Straight After Senior Muslim Diplomat Called US a ‘Blatant Bully’

The United States remains defiant this week in the face of mounting criticism from the United Nations regarding President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

As The Western Journal previously reported, the U.S. vetoed a measure that would have reversed Trump’s pronouncement. U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley went on to criticize the member states who support that security council resolution and a similarly worded non-binding measure that was approved Thursday by the General Assembly.

One Reuters reporter tweeted Wednesday that a “senior diplomat from a Muslim country” shot back at Haley after reading a letter she reportedly sent explaining that Trump intended to keep a close eye on which nations voted against his Jerusalem decision.

“States resort to such blatant bullying only when they know they do not have a moral or legal argument to convince others,” the unnamed official told Michelle Nichols.

Haley once again defended the position by claiming American sovereignty on the issue.

She tweeted that such action actually comes “when a country is tired of being taken for granted.”

The former South Carolina governor used similar language when she defended the prior veto, which marked the first such security council vote by the U.S. in six years.

Haley claimed the action was “in defense of American sovereignty and in defense of America’s role in the Middle East peace process.”

She went on to warn nations supporting the resolution against the U.S. that they could face similar retaliation in the future.

“The United States has a sovereign right to determine where and whether we establish an embassy,” she said. “I suspect very few member states would welcome security council pronouncements about their sovereign decisions.”

Ahead of the general assembly vote on the matter, both Haley and Trump have made it clear the U.S. plans to hold nations individually accountable.

In a letter sent to most of the 193 member states participating in the vote, Haley wrote that the administration will be keeping track of the nations voting in favor of the measure condemning the U.S.

She also tweeted that the U.S. would be “taking names.”

Trump later made the same case more emphatically.

“Let them vote against us,” he said. “We’ll save a lot. We don’t care. But this isn’t like it used to be where they could vote against you and then you pay them hundreds of millions of dollars. Death Threat Allows Muslim Woman to Evade Deportation

A Jordanian woman living in Michigan is seeking court protection from being deported back to her homeland out of fear that she will be killed as soon as she returns in accordance with Islamic Shariah law . . .

The woman, who came to the United States on a student visa but has overstayed, got pregnant out of wedlock. Her cousin has vowed to kill her to preserve the family’s honor.

The Associated Press reported the story Friday without mentioning Islam or Shariah law, attributing the threatened honor killing to “an ancient practice across the globe that calls for defending a family’s reputation by slaying female relatives who violate traditional taboos.”

Three 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals judges in Cincinnati voted this month to block the deportation of Jordanian native Olga Jad Kamar.

Muslim Doctor Accused of Mutilating ‘Countless’ Little Girls Freed

After five months in jail, Dr. Jumana Nagarwala, the Detroit-area Muslim doctor accused of mutilating the genitalia of “countless” young girls, was released on a $4.5 million unsecured property bond Tuesday.

“I was there in the courtroom. I saw it all,” said Elizabeth Yore, an international child-welfare advocate and leader of the #EndFGMToday initiative.

Yore said Dr. Nagarwala, 44, appeared Tuesday before Judge Bernard Friedman in an orange jumpsuit, her head covered by a hijab or Muslim headscarf. She remained silent during the entire pretrial detention hearing.

By the end, the doctor flashed a brief smile when she was told by the judge she would be released from jail pending her trial, which will likely occur in 2018. She then wept, which her attorney called “tears of joy.”

Ex-Muslim: Welfare Contributes to Islamism

A former Muslim who is warning America that Islamists are establishing “no-go zones,” neighborhoods run by Islamic Shariah law, says social-welfare programs contribute to the problem.

Such “help” facilitates a “huge swathe of people not doing anything,” he explained in an interview with Greg Corombos of Radio America.

“All day every day [there are] men hanging on street corners, in the cafes, outside smoking, drinking tea, chatting, going back and forth between the mosque and the café,” said author Raheem Kassam, who has just released “No Go Zones: How Sharia Law Is Coming to a Neighborhood Near You.”

He explains such no-go zones already are a problem across Europe, and he sees the beginnings of the same troubles in America.
