Killing Of Nigerian Christians Underscores Islam Is Incompatible With Safety And Freedom

We’ve heard endless claims by the propaganda press and campus “protesters” that Islamic terrorists are oppressed, and “white” Christians are the oppressors. For example, recall how New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani famously suggested that the real victims of 9/11 are New York City’s Muslims because his “Auntie” felt like people looked at her funny while she wore her hijab on the train.

Such fig-leafed fables can never cover up the horrific realities on the ground. Islamic jihadists’ intolerance for any coexistence with Christianity and Western values of civil society becomes starker every day. Most recently, we’ve had to grapple with the ISIS-inspired attack on Bondi Beach in Australia and the probable funding of Somali terrorists by unwitting Minnesota taxpayers. Their terrorist attacks are more numerous than ever before.

So, unquestionably, the oppressors are jihadists whose outspoken hate for Jews and Christians too often leads them to kill without mercy. The best evidence of this today is the case of Nigeria. For too long, the corporate press has been silent about — and even denied — the constant slaughter of Christians by Islamic terrorists in Nigeria.

Breaking the Silence

Until recently, you were expected to know nothing about the heinous acts committed daily against Christians worldwide, particularly in Nigeria. We were supposed to stay ignorant about the beheadings of priests in Nigeria, the destruction of 19,000 churches there, the machete hackings and live burnings of Christians there, the killings of about 8,000 Christians so far this year, and some 135,000 since 2009 in Nigeria alone. We were supposed to know zero about the persecution of Christians, even though they are overwhelmingly the most targeted of any religious group in the world by a large and growing margin.

Most of the perpetrators of Christian persecution in the modern world fall under two categories: communist governments such as those in North Korea and China; and Islamic jihadism, such as practiced by Boko Haram or Fulani militants in Nigeria, or the Taliban in Afghanistan, all of whom are intent on coercively imposing sharia law. This state of affairs was the central theme of “Persecuted and Prevailing: Addressing Christian Persecution in the Modern World” a recent livestreamed panel event at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. Islamic Extremists Prepare To Slaughter Hundreds On Christmas, Local Intel Warns

Islamic extremists in Nigeria are reportedly plotting an attack for Christmas — which could result in hundreds of deaths and the displacement of many more if left unchecked, the head of a Nigerian news site told the Daily Caller.

U.S.-based filmmaker, evangelist and founder of Truth Nigeria, Judd Saul, told the Caller that extremists are mobilizing units in preparation for a mass assault on Christian regions of Nigeria.

Fulani militants appear to be rallying forces and supplies to strike Riom, Bokkos and Barkin Lotti of Plateau state, the Agatu region of Benue state and the Kafanchan region of Kaduna state in Nigeria, according to Saul.

Saul warned that if immediate action is not taken by the Nigerian state — and likely with pressure from the U.S. — they may see up to 1,000 people dead and potentially 20,000 to 40,000 more displaced.

At least 3,100 Christians have been killed in Nigeria in 2025, according to Open Doors data. President Donald Trump, his State Department and Republican members of Congress have repeatedly called on the government to protect Christians in the region. Abducted Catholic Schoolchildren In Nigeria Escape Captivity

Fifty schoolchildren abducted from a Catholic school in north-central Nigeria escaped captivity and returned to their families, school authorities announced Sunday.

The students, aged 10 to 18, fled individually between Friday and Saturday after gunmen seized 303 people from St. Mary’s School in Niger state’s remote Papiri community, according to The Associated Press. A total of 253 students and 12 teachers remain in captivity, according to Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Niger state and the school’s proprietor.

“We were able to ascertain this when we decided to contact and visit some parents,” Yohanna said in a statement.

Authorities have not disclosed where the captives are being held or how the 50 children managed to escape. No group has claimed responsibility for the Friday attack.

Pope Leo XIV called for the immediate release of the remaining hostages during a mass in St. Peter’s Square on Sunday. (Read more from “Abducted Catholic Schoolchildren In Nigeria Escape Captivity” HERE)

17 Nigerian Christians Killed in Attacks Hours After Trump Called Out Religious Persecution

At least 17 Christians were killed in Nigeria hours after President Donald Trump designated the nation as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) for ongoing attacks by radical Islamists, with local media reporting “fresh attacks by gunmen across communities in Plateau and Kaduna states.”

A Friday evening attack in Kaduna claimed the lives of seven people and injured one more, with Nigerian outlet Punch reporting that the assailants “invaded” the Damakasuwa community in Chawai Chiefdom around 8:00 pm and began “shooting sporadically and forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes for safety.”

The chief of Chawai, Alhaji Yahaya Muhammad, told the newspaper that five of the fatalities died at the scene while the other two later succumbed to their injuries.

“The incident heightened tension in the area, but normalcy has since been restored due to the presence of military personnel in the community,” the chief said. “We have urged our people to remain calm and allow the security agencies to carry out their duties diligently to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended.”

In Plateau State, 10 more people were reportedly killed in separate attacks on Friday and Saturday, Punch reported. (Read more from “17 Nigerian Christians Killed in Attacks Hours After Trump Called Out Religious Persecution” HERE)

More Than 30 Christians Beheaded, Church Burned Down: Report

More than 30 Christians were beheaded in Mozambique last month, with churches and homes burned down, according to a new report.

The Islamic State Mozambique Province (ISMP), an affiliate of Islamic State, has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks on Christian civilians in the northern part of the African country, often in the Cabo Delgado province, the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) said last Wednesday.

ISMP released photos, seen by MEMRI, showing militants killing people and setting fire to churches and homes across several villages.

Mozambique’s President Daniel Chapo said on Thursday that security in Cabo Delgado had improved thanks to the efforts of the national military, but that terrorism threats remained. (Read more from “More Than 30 Christians Beheaded, Church Burned Down: Report” HERE)

World’s Most Dangerous Place to Be Christian Prepares for Easter

Nigeria’s police chief on Thursday ordered around-the-clock enhanced security at public venues across the country throughout the Easter weekend, fearing religious violence in a country where Christians are under almost constant attack.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun said through a spokesman that extra resources would be devoted to maintaining security at “worship centers, train stations, highways, motor parks, airports, waterways, recreation centers, banks, and other financial institutions, as well as other critical infrastructures and public spaces.”

“The IGP also assures all travelers who will be visiting their hometowns and other places within the country for the festivities of adequate security irrespective of the medium of such travels whether by road, air, waterways, or rail, as deployments have been increased and visibility patrols intensified in all areas including aerial patrol and surveillance,” Egbetokun’s office said.

“As we commemorate the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us come together in unity and vigilance to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for all,” the statement said.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) said on Thursday it would deploy 35,000 personnel to protect both Easter crowds and “critical national assets and infrastructure,” including operatives from its anti-vandalism, special intelligence, special female, and special forces squads. Democrat Representative Opposes Bill Condemning Christian Persecution in Nigeria Because It Doesn’t Include LGBTQ People (VIDEO)

Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., opposed a bill on Tuesday condemning the persecution of Christians in Nigeria because it failed to also include the LGBTQ population.

The House Foreign Affairs Committee on Tuesday performed markups on a bill condemning violations of religious freedoms in Nigeria, including the ongoing persecution and murder of Christians. Connolly, a member of the committee, said he didn’t favor the bill in its current form because it failed to encompass a broader condemnation of all persecution in Nigeria, including against “the gay and lesbian community.”

“Congress can’t simply say, ‘We’re only concerned about Christian persecution.’ We’re concerned about anyone’s human rights being violated,” Connolly said during the committee markup session on Tuesday. “And by the way, that includes the gay and lesbian community, which has suffered in Nigeria, among other African countries, [and] even at the hands of religious leaders, who have called for the death penalty because of somebody’s sexual orientation.”

“If we’re going to express ourselves with respect—as we should—it ought to be a comprehensive statement, not a particular group we single out, and basically say, ‘That’s the one we’re concerned about,’” Connolly said.

Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., later said the bill aims to distinctly condemn the violation of religious freedoms in Nigeria and accused unspecified colleagues of trying to “muddy the water” with irrelevant points. Connolly responded that he considered that a “smear” and explained his personal history with Catholicism. Christians in Nigeria Massacred in Christmas Weekend Terror Attacks

At least 160 Nigerian Christians were murdered and 300 injured in a series of terror attacks over Christmas weekend, according to multiple reports.

The attacks on at least 26 Christian communities made it “one of the most violent [times] in the area’s history,” Maria Lozano, a representative for the group Aid to the Church in Need, told the Catholic News Agency.

President of the Christian Association of Nigeria Archbishop Daniel Okoh condemned the attacks, which some have blamed on the Muslim Fulani militia.

“We condemn these acts of violence in the strongest possible terms. The burning down of houses, and worship centers, and the destruction of properties worth millions of naira is not only a criminal act but also a direct assault on our shared values of peace, unity, and mutual respect,” Okoh said, reports CNA. Journalist Arrested After Reporting on Attacks Against Christians

A Nigerian Christian journalist has been imprisoned following his reporting of attacks on Christians in Nigeria’s Middle Belt and his criticism of the government’s response, the Barnabas Fund reported Monday.

Officials of Kaduna State arrested Epoch Times journalist Luka Binniyat November 4 and charged him with transmitting electronic information known “to be false” under the nation’s Cybercrimes Act.

The charge is a federal offence carrying a penalty of three years in prison and Binniyat has not been offered bail and must be tried in a higher court.

A local source told the Barnabas Fund that Binniyat’s arrest “is aimed at silencing any dissenting voice and intimidating both Luka and the southern Kaduna communities.”

As Breitbart News reported, last July unidentified gunmen kidnapped some 140 Christian students from the Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna State. (Read more from “Journalist Arrested After Reporting on Attacks Against Christians” HERE)

Christian Genocide: Over 1,200 Killed in Nigeria in First Half of 2020

Over 1,200 Christians were slaughtered in Nigeria in the first six months of 2020, according to a human rights group based there.

The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law said the killing of Christians had reached “genocidal” levels, the Nigerian Voice reports.

The perpetrators are Islamist militants and members of the predominantly Muslim Fulani group.

The report attributes 390 of the deaths to radical Islamist groups like Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province, both of which are linked to ISIS.

Some 812 deaths were attributed to Fulani herdsmen who have targeted Christian farming communities. (Read more from “Christian Genocide: Over 1,200 Killed in Nigeria in First Half of 2020” HERE)
