Ancient Treasure Discovered Beneath Pagan Temple

Archaeologists discovered a rare treasure in an ancient Pagan temple outside of Lillehammer, Norway.

A team of archaeologists uncovered at least 35 gold pieces dated back to around 550 A.D. (roughly 1,500 years ago) hidden beneath a Pagan house of worship outside the town of Lillehammer, according to local news outlet Dagsavisen. The small pieces are as thin as aluminum foil and adorned with engravings of men and women wearing fancy outfits.

The pieces are as small as a fingernail and so detailed, it’s hard to imagine how our ancestors managed to make them so tiny. Some of the pieces show couples facing each other, whereas others depict them in some type of embrace, as seen in images shared on Facebook. . .

“Despite the fact that the gold nuggets are so small, the motifs have a striking richness of detail,” University of Oslo archaeologist Nicolai Eckhoff, who was involved in the discovery, wrote on Facebook. (Read more from “Ancient Treasure Discovered Beneath Pagan Temple” HERE)

Twitter Reacts to Man Who Identifies as Disabled Woman, Uses Wheelchair ‘Most of the Time’

A Norwegian man who identifies as a woman has inspired ire on social media for also identifying as disabled and using a wheelchair despite not physically needing one.

“I have struggled with this every day my whole life,” Jørund Viktoria Alme, 53, told the Norwegian outlet Vi earlier this year, according to Reduxx.

“It is a cognitive dissonance: in the same way that I experience being a woman in a man’s body, I experience that I should have been paralyzed from the waist down. This is not a desire to be a burden on society. It is about the wheelchair being an aid for me to function in everyday life, both privately and at work,” Alme continued.

The publication noted that Velme faced backlash following a recent interview with Good Morning Norway (God Morgen Norge, GMN). It became such a big story that Norway’s TV 2 did a follow-up piece including the perspectives of four disabled women.

One of those interview subjects was an 18-year-old woman named Emma Sofie Grimstad who spent two months in a wheelchair after contracting an inflammatory disease.

Are Guns Really the Problem? Man Allegedly Kills Multiple People With Bow and Arrow

A man armed with a bow and arrow allegedly murdered several individuals at a town center in Norway on Wednesday night, according to police, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

The attack occurred in the town of Kongsberg, about 50 miles outside Oslo, Norway, the NYT reported. The suspect was apprehended after allegedly killing five people and wounding others, Police Chief Oyvind Aas told reporters.

“The information we now have, this person carried out these actions alone,” Aas said. The alleged attack started around 6 p.m. when the suspect began making his way through the center of Kongsberg, police said, the NYT reported.

“The police currently have no concrete indications that there is a change in the threat level in the country,” authorities said in a statement, according to a translation by the NYT.

Norwegian police are not typically armed, but were given permission to carry weapons “due to the serious incident in Kongsberg,” the statement said. Norwegians Discover Way to Defeat American Marines Using Bacon and Small Children

Hilarious (and presumably true) tale spotted at Reddit and authored by 1nf1del (caution: strong language):

In the U.S. Marines, doing a mock war in the Norwegian city of Trondheim with the Dutch, Germans and other allies, training in urban combat. My infantry unit was positioned in a large soccer field next to an elementary school. Keep in mind there was no actual combat, even simulated; it was mostly just practicing maneuvers and tactics. But we still looked out of place with weapons and gear, etc. It’s f***ing February. In Norway. Cold as balls. Snow up to our knees. Norway obviously has no snow days, so the kids were all in school.

Anyway, so Norway has this most delicious and amazing delicacy, I have no idea what it’s called, but it’s basically a bacon-wrapped hot dog; we just assumed it was called Candy of the Lord. As Americans we were naturally and instantly addicted. You find them at gas stations, and there just happened to be one on the other side of the school where we were camped. A few of my fellow Marines and I requested permission to go to the gas station and we set out on our way.

We made it to right about where the main entrance of the school was, and the doors opened; school was out. There were only a few kids, probably 6 or 7 years old. Lots of talking and laughing. Gawking at us as we walked by, with our guns and huge ridiculous snow suits. One precocious little bugger made shooting noises at us. We made shooting noises back.

And then someone in my group. I don’t know who. God help me I don’t know who…
Someone threw a snowball and hit a little girl in the leg.

And those little Norwegian children unleashed hell.

There was a shrill cry in unintelligible Norseman and the doors to the school burst open. School children flooded out like a never-ending flood of something that never ends. Screeching, smiling, sprinting – how the f*** were they sprinting?? – little bastards were slinging snowballs faster than the laws of physics should allow. It was like that movie Elf. If you can imagine riding in a fast car in a snowstorm and sticking your head out the window. Now imagine the snowflakes that are hitting your face are the size of snowballs. We couldn’t f***ing see. We couldn’t run. We could barely breathe. Holy f***….

We tried to return fire and threw one, maybe two half-packed, shitty snowballs that fell apart in the air, arms flailing like drunk octopi. I am from Texas. We were a unit stationed in North Carolina. We were so outmatched and out of our element, it only made them laugh harder. We were cutoff from our main forces. We tried to perform a flanking maneuver but f*** me they were fast. I think some of them were throwing rocks!

My comrades. I could see them speed waddling in their huge suits back to camp like a f***ed up pair of white Teletubbies, under withering fire. f*** tactics, f*** me, f*** the Candy of the Lord, this was survival! I was the slow one in the group. My snowboots were too big but they were the smallest size they had at Issue g**dammit!! My Marines left me behind.

I tried pulling my hood over my head and keeping my head down. No longer content to pelt my defenseless body with ballistic snow, the enemy swarmed me and dragged me down, cackling like a pack of hyenas descending on a wildebeest. I tried to sling them off by spinning. I came out of one of my boots and fell. I began to scream and plead for them to stop but they neither understood nor gave a single Nordic f***. They literally pinned me down with about five kids on each limb. It was then that I actually thought – oh shit. I’m really in trouble. My snow-mittens were ripped off and flung into trees. They started shoving snow down my suit. Have you ever had anyone drop an ice cube down your shirt?

Well now imagine someone shoveling handfuls of ice cubes down your shirt. It literally shocked the breath out of my body.

They left me laying like a Family Guy accident victim. Moaning and screaming in the cold. Rifle packed with snow and dirt. Boot buried some-f***ing-where. They ran away laughing, jabbering in their crazy language. I lay there trying to figure out just what in the great American f*** had happened.

TL;DR – Norwegians discover way to defeat American Marines using bacon and small children.

LPT -don’t ever, ever get in a snowball fight with Norwegian school kids.

TIL – there are more names for shoving snow down peoples’ clothes than should be reasonably expected.

EDIT EDIT Candy of the Lord= baconpølse, and yes – it was filled with cheese! Very important detail that I left out. Sorry.

European far right flirts with Norwegian mass murderer Breivik’s ideas

Norwegian mass killer Anders Behring Breivik may have failed to ignite a race war with Muslims, but he succeeded in stoking anxieties about the stability of Europe’s increasingly diverse societies.

Though his talk of an international underground of killers – latter-day Crusaders he called the Knights Templar – seemed to be mere fantasy, and while his methods place him far beyond the pale of mainstream politics, many of his beliefs are to be found within the fold of anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant populists.

“His ideological `manifesto’ is a distilled representation of a cultural crisis that pervades the European continent and finds expression in an increasingly xenophobic populism,” Kirsten Simonsen, a professor at Denmark’s Roskilde University, wrote in “Bloodlands”, a 2012 series of essays about Breivik.

Some notions – that Europe and its indigenous cultures are being weakened by immigration and multiculturalism – have been helping reshape the continent’s right-wing politics for years.

These beliefs occasionally find an echo on the margins of centre-right parties, among politicians seeking support from communities plagued by rising unemployment.

Concealed Carry Would Have Kept Norway Safe

How long would the Norway gunman have lasted in Texas or any state where concealed-carry laws are on the books? I ran a survey while on a cruise: in Texas, 3 minutes; in Montana, 7 to 8 minutes; in Arizona, 2 minutes; and in Nevada, 3 to 5 minutes.

Had Norway not surrendered to the anti-self-defense nuts, and allowed Norwegians to protect themselves by legally carrying guns, the massacre might well have been prevented. There’s a lot of truth in the old adage that if guns are outlawed only outlaws will carry guns.

That was certainly true in Norway where Anders Breivik, a lone gunman, launched his assault on youth campers of Utoya Island. According to press reports he fully expected Norway’s special forces to swoop down and stop him at any minute. It didn’t happen. Faced with unarmed victims he was given plenty of time to kill 68 innocent people who could not defend themselves. Had just one of them been armed, Breivik could have been stopped dead and lives would have been spared.

Moreover, if anyone had paid attention to Breivik’s rants they would not have been surprised when he acted on them, especially since Breivik had preceded his attack by setting off a car bomb in the heart of Oslo.

Tragically, Norway’s anti-gun hysteria resulted in laws restricting gun ownership by law-abiding citizens, leaving them exposed to gun violence at the hands of criminals such as Breivik, who simply ignore anti-gun ownership laws. Despite the Second Amendment, which protects American citizens’ rights to access to guns for self-protection, the Constitutional right of citizens to bear arms is under constant assault.

Terrorist proclaimed himself ‘Darwinian,’ not ‘Christian’

A review of Anders Behring Breivik’s 1,500-page manifesto shows the media’s quick characterization of the Norwegian terrorist as a “Christian” may be as incorrect as it was to call Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh one.

Breivik was arrested over the weekend, charged with a pair of brutal attacks in and near Oslo, Norway, including a bombing in the capital city that killed 7 and a shooting spree at a youth political retreat on the island of Utoya that killed more than 80 victims.

Piecing together Breivik’s various posts on the Internet, many media reports have characterized the terrorist – who says he was upset over the multiculturalist policies stemming from Norway’s Labour Party – as a “right-wing, Christian fundamentalist.”

Yet, while McVeigh rejected God altogether, Breivik writes in his manifesto that he is not religious, has doubts about God’s existence, does not pray, but does assert the primacy of Europe’s “Christian culture” as well as his own pagan Nordic culture.

Breivik instead hails Charles Darwin, whose evolutionary theories stand in contrast to the claims of the Bible, and affirms: “As for the Church and science, it is essential that science takes an undisputed precedence over biblical teachings. Europe has always been the cradle of science, and it must always continue to be that way. Regarding my personal relationship with God, I guess I’m not an excessively religious man. I am first and foremost a man of logic. However, I am a supporter of a monocultural Christian Europe.”
