Judge’s Affair With Prosecutor Overturns Murder Conviction

An Oklahoma man had his murder conviction thrown out Monday after it was revealed that the judge who had presided over his jury trial was involved in a sexual relationship with the prosecutor.

In a trial presided by Former Oklahoma County District Judge Tim Henderson, the jury convicted Robert Hashagen III on Feb. 2 for the 2013 killing of 94-year-old Evelyn Goodall, KOKH-TV reported.

Hashagen was then sentenced to life imprisonment by Henderson on March 4, according to The Oklahoman.

Later in March, Henderson resigned after three women stepped forward with sexual misconduct allegations against him, according to The Oklahoman.

One of Henderson’s accusers was a female assistant district attorney from the Hashagen case. That attorney had delivered the state’s closing arguments and had cross examined two of the defense’s witnesses during Hashagen’s trial, KOKH-TV reported. Lawsuit: Inmates Subject to ‘Torture Tactic’ by Hearing ‘Baby Shark’ on Loop

Inmates at a jail in Oklahoma were subjected to cruel and inhumane punishment when they were forced into stress positions while listening to “Baby Shark” on repeat for hours, according to a lawsuit filed this week.

The federal civil rights lawsuit also alleged excessive force, describing the discipline tactics as “torture events.”

It was filed on Tuesday in the Western District of Oklahoma on behalf of Ja’Lee Foreman Jr., Daniel Hedrick, Joseph Mitchell and John Basco, who were pre-trial detainees at the Oklahoma County jail in late 2019. . .

Mitchell, according to the lawsuit, on Nov. 30, 2019, was pulled from his cell by jail officers at about 11:45 p.m. The officers then placed Mitchell into a room where he was forced into a “standing stress position” for three to four hours while handcuffed behind his back.

Dad Brutally Beats Pastor Accused of Inappropriately Touching Son at Bus Stop

A father in Oklahoma City tackled a local pastor who was seen inappropriately touching his son at a bus stop, leaving the suspect with a cracked skull and a bloody mugshot.

“There’s hardly any words that are camera appropriate,” witness Lisa Ward said of the incident. “It’s just sickening.”

Oklahoma City Police arrested the suspect, Michael Coghill, on Wednesday, after he was recorded on camera touching a nine-year-old boy at a bus stop and was confronted by the boy’s father, according to News9. The police department, however, could not confirm to Fox News that the boy’s father was the one to confront the suspect due to the Open Records Act.

Local residents said that Coghill is a local pastor in the area.

The boy told police that Coghill would often jog near the bus stop and had stopped by the area on more than one occasion, according to the police report obtained by Fox News.

The boy said Coghill had visited the bus stop on Monday and touched him in a way that made him uncomfortable. The boy also told his parents about the incident on Monday, and the father accompanied the boy to the bus stop on Wednesday, according to local reports. State Giving Immunity To Drivers Who Accidentally Hit Violent Rioters

The Oklahoma House passed a bill Wednesday that extends punishments for rioters and grants immunity to drivers who injure or kill someone while fleeing a riot, USA Today reported.

House Bill 1674, introduced by Republican state Rep. Kevin West, would allow prosecutors to charge rioters with a misdemeanor for interfering with traffic and endangering drivers. If passed, motor vehicle operators would not face criminal or civil charges for hitting a rioter if they were fleeing for safety or exercised “due care” at the time of the injury or death.

The bill defines a rioter as anyone committing violence or robbery during the protest, according to the Courthouse News Service. Rioters can face a criminal charge and imprisonment.

“If any murder, maiming, robbery, rape or arson was committed in the course of such a riot, such person is punishable in the same manner as a principal in such crime,” the bill text says. “Such person shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment.” . . .

“The driver was severely chastised for trying to hurt the protesters and he even faced the possibility of criminal charges for his actions in attempting to erase the protesters,” West said, according to the Courthouse News Service. “This measure would clarify a motorist’s rights in a similar situation going forward.” (Read more from “State Giving Immunity To Drivers Who Accidentally Hit Violent Rioters” HERE)

State Rep Introduces Bill for an Official Bigfoot Hunting Season

Republican Oklahoma State Rep. Justin Humphrey has a plan to beef up tourism by creating an official Bigfoot hunting season.

“House Bill 1648 would direct the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Division to promulgate rules establishing the annual dates of the season and creating any necessary specific hunting licenses and fees,” according to a press release shared by Humphrey on Facebook. The post was noted by TMZ in a piece published Thursday.

“Tourism is one of the biggest attractions we have in my House district,” Humphrey shared in the release. “Establishing an actual hunting season and issuing licenses for people who want to hunt Bigfoot will just draw more people to our already beautiful part of the state.” . . .

However, there is a slight catch and he said he doesn’t want people to “actually kill” Bigfoot, just trap and capture the illusive creature.

And if by chance someone is able to trap and capture Sasquatch, there could be $25,000 for the first person to do so.

Supreme Court Denies Bid to Stop Trump Rally

The Oklahoma Supreme Court paved the way for President Trump’s Tulsa rally to take place.

The court rejected an appeal from a previous lawsuit on Friday that sought to block the campaign from holding a rally indoors on the basis that it could lead to the spread of the coronavirus. The suit, which was filed on behalf of local residents in the historically black district of Greenwood earlier this week, demanded the arena to enforce social distancing guidelines.

The plaintiffs wanted the court to issue a temporary injunction against ASM Global, the parent company of the organization that manages the BOK Center, “to protect against a substantial, imminent, and deadly risk to the community,” according to the Washington Post.

The court ruled in favor of the campaign, arguing that the state’s June 1 reopening plan allowed business owners to use discretion over social distancing measures and thus were not mandatory. (Read more from “Supreme Court Denies Bid to Stop Trump Rally” HERE)

Atheist Group ‘Bullies’ Public School Into Cutting Live Nativity From Christmas Show

An Oklahoma public elementary school removed its third-grade live Nativity scene from its annual Christmas production after receiving a threatening letter from an atheist group.

Christopher Line, staff attorney at the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), wrote to F. Andrew Fugitt at the Center for Education Law that the school district was committing a “constitutional violation”:

A concerned Edmond Public Schools community member has reported that each year, third grade teachers at Chisholm Elementary have students rehearse a live nativity scene, which students then perform at the school’s holiday concert in December. We understand that Chisholm students who participate in the nativity play various roles, including Mary and Joseph, etc.

…

While a public school can hold holiday concerts, religious performances and instruction that emphasize the religious aspects of a holiday are prohibited … A live nativity performance celebrating the story of Jesus’s birth is precisely the sort of religious endorsement prohibited by the Establishment Clause.

Woman Accidentally Shot by Labrador Puppy

A woman in Enid, Oklahoma was shot in the leg on Thursday when a dog jumped on top of a gun inside the vehicle she was in, causing it to fire.

Tina Springer, 44, was in the passenger seat of 79-year-old Brent Parks’ pickup truck as they were stopped at a railroad crossing on North 10th when the incident occurred.

Reports said Parks’ yellow Labrador retriever puppy was frightened by the train and jumped from the back seat of the vehicle onto the folding center console that had a .22 caliber handgun underneath it, according to Enid News & Eagle.

Police said the gun discharged and a bullet hit Springer in her left thigh. When he realized what had happened, Parks placed his belt around Springer’s leg to stanch the flow of blood, then called 911.

“The dog shot her?” the 911 operator is heard asking Parks in the audio recording. “Yeah,” Parks replied, adding that “he stepped on it and it went off.” (Read more from “Woman Accidentally Shot by Labrador Puppy” HERE)

Jihadist Beheader in Oklahoma Cleared for Execution

This fall, the U.S. Supreme Court essentially cemented the execution of America’s least known Islamic terrorist. Jihadist convert Alton Nolen is now set to be put to death in Oklahoma, likely by nitrogen gas inhalation.

The Supreme Court’s October 1, 2018 rejection of Nolen’s final death penalty appeal went unremarked upon by news media so, partly as a result, I missed it. But the Nolen case is very much worth remembering, along with all terror attacks that occur on U.S. soil, if not just for the victims and their survivors but for lessons that can and must be learned.

The September 24, 2014 attack in Oklahoma is somewhat notable in the annals of many officially uncalled terrorist strikes in that Nolen emulated a favorite ISIS death tactic no doubt learned online: he fully beheaded a co-worker—the beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Colleen Hufford—inside the Moore, Oklahoma food processing plant where they both worked. Shouting “Alluah Akbar” throughout the attack, Nolen used the same oversized butcher knife on the neck of a second co-worker, Tracy Johnson, when the company’s chief operations officer, a reserve law enforcement officer named Mark Vaughn, burst in with an AR-15 rifle. He shot and wounded Nolen as Nolen disengaged from his second victim and charged at him with the bloody knife.

Such an attack must generate a particular horror in its witnesses and, when Nolen is finally put to death, one should keep in mind what Hufford must have experienced in her last moments. . .

Rather than to call this an Islamic terror attack and charge it federally as such, President Obama’s U.S. Department of Justice let the local district attorney charge Nolen under state murder statues (and as an assault and battery against survivor Traci Johnson). The whole disgusting affair was quickly forgotten by the rest of the nation, government, and all but those involved and some locals. Armed Citizen Kills Mass Shooter at Restaurant

By The Daily Wire. An armed citizen shot and killed a mass shooter at a restaurant in Oklahoma on Thursday after the gunman walked in and opened fire, hitting several people.

“A man walked into the Louie’s restaurant and opened fire with a gun. Two people were shot,” police said, CNN reported. “A bystander with a pistol confronted the shooter outside the restaurant and fatally shot him.”

Oklahoma City Police tweeted: “ALERT: The only confirmed fatality is the suspect. He was apparently shot-to-death by an armed citizen. Three citizens were injured, two of whom were shot. 2 Shot at Louie’s on Lake Hefner; Suspect Killed by Armed Citizen

By News 9. A mother and daughter were shot Thursday night at a popular restaurant on Lake Hefner in northwest Oklahoma City, police said.

The shooting occurred at Louie’s Grill & Bar at 9401 Lake Hefner Parkway around 6:30 p.m.

According to Captain Bo Mathews with the Oklahoma City Police Department, the suspect described as an 18 to 20-year-old white male entered the restaurant and opened fire.
