WATCH: Black Republican Uses AR-15 to Confront ‘Angry Democrats in Klan Hoods’ in Campaign Ad

A black Republican pastor running for Congress in Arizona dropped an ad Wednesday in which he uses an AR-15 to confront members of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK).

Jerone Davison is running for Arizona’s fourth congressional district. In the ad dropped on Twitter with the caption “Make Rifles Great Again,” Davison says sometimes an AR-15 is needed.

“Democrats like to say that no one needs an AR-15 for self defense. That no one could possibly need all 30 rounds. But when this rifle is the only thing standing between your family and a dozen angry Democrats in Klan hoods, you just might need that semi-automatic. And all 30 rounds.”

Former Pastor Arrested for Attempting to Smuggle Marijuana into US

John Bishop, the former lead pastor of Vancouver’s Living Hope Church, is facing a federal drug charge in U.S. District Court in Southern California for allegedly trying to smuggle more than 280 pounds of marijuana into the country from Mexico.

The 54-year-old was arrested Dec. 11 after he was stopped about 5:25 a.m. by U.S. Customs and Border Protection while re-entering the country through the port of entry at San Ysidro, Calif. Bishop reportedly told border patrol agents he was driving to Chula Vista, Calif., according to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case.

While conducting a routine inspection of Bishop’s gray Volkswagen Jetta, the officer found packages hidden in a wheel well. A narcotics detection dog was summoned and subsequently alerted officers to the undercarriage and trunk of the car, the affidavit states.

The car was taken apart revealing 105 packages weighing 281.88 pounds that field-tested positive for marijuana. Packages were removed from the car’s bumpers, rear seat, dashboard and at least one wheel well, the court document said.

Bishop was taken into custody and charged with unlawful importation of a controlled substance, according to a complaint filed Dec. 12 in U.S. District Court. (Read more from “Former Pastor Arrested for Attempting to Smuggle Marijuana into US” HERE)

Pastor Defends Family, Shoots Burglar in the Head

A local pastor shot a burglar who was trying to break into his home early Thursday, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

It was the dead of night — 2:40 a.m. — when police got a call about a burglary in progress at a home on Sante Fe Trail.

By the time officers arrived, 19-year-old Donavan Simmons was on the ground with a gunshot wound to his head.

According to police, the suspect tried to gain entry into the home through the basement when the homeowner shot in the general direction of the intruder.

Simmons was struck in the head. He was transported to the hospital and underwent surgery. He was listed in stable condition. (Read more from “Pastor Defends Family, Shoots Burglar in the Head” HERE)

Matthew James Phelps, 28, said he woke up and discovered his wife’s blood-saturated body next to him in their North Raleigh home on Sept. 1, the News and Observer reported.

“I think I killed my … there’s blood all over me,” Phelps told a 9-1-1 operator, “and there’s a bloody knife on the bed. I think I did it.”

An autopsy released Tuesday states that his wife, Lauren Hugelmaier Phelps, 29, sustained 44 cuts and stab wounds on her head and neck. Others were found on her body and arms. Some of her wounds were reportedly more than four inches deep. Phelps, who has no previous criminal record, has been charged with first-degree murder. He is being held without bail at the Wake County Jail. (Read more from “Aspiring Pastor Stabs Wife 123 Times, Then Blames…” HERE)

Father of 8 Sentenced to Jail for Distributing Jury Nullification Pamphlets

A former pastor from Michigan discovered the hard way that informing people of their rights under the law as jurors doesn’t sit well with the U.S. government when a judge sentenced him Friday to eight weekends in jail, six months of probation, and fines — all for passing out pamphlets discussing jury nullification.

Keith Wood contends passing out the information is well within his constitutional rights to inform potential and selected jurors that, enshrined in the Bill of Rights lies the potent ability to find a defendant not guilty if the law in question is unjust, flawed, or otherwise untenable — even if the accused indeed technically violated.

Jury nullification thus arguably acts as citizens’ access to checks and balances: When legislators craft worthless, harmful, inequitable, or just plain ‘bad’ laws, jurors can, in essence, refuse to enforce any punitive measures — refusing to find a person guilty of breaking a law that never should have been inked into the books.

This tool shines most prominently when used consistently to thwart oppressive policy. Illustrative of this principle is continued federal prohibition of cannabis and transformed public sentiment, as anti-marijuana propaganda falls apart at its politicized roots for the incarceration nightmare it created — among many others. Jurors faced with a choice in guilt of sending a nonviolent drug offender to prison might instead find the concept of incarcerating this petty ‘criminal’ who had done no harm to another unethical and ill-conceived — and choose instead a finding of not guilty to compensate for the unjust law.

But most judges refuse to or have strict rules against informing jurors about the little-known nullification right; so, Wood’s education activism, handing out pamphlets from the Fully Informed Jury Association (FIJA), entitled “Your Jury Rights: True or False?” in front of the court in Big Rapids, led to a verdict of guilty for attempting to influence a jury in Mecosta County.

Initially, Wood had been charged with a felony — which was dropped last March — for obstructing justice, and a misdemeanor jury tampering, carrying potential sentences of five years and one year, respectively; but prosecutors ultimately sought a sentence of 45 consecutive days with fines.

District Judge Kimberly Booher concurred the father of eight, husband, and sole family breadwinner should serve time, but felt the requested sentence too harsh in light of the circumstances and for his lack of prior offenses, ruling instead he will spend eight consecutive weekends in jail and work 120 hours of community service — suspended — provided he completes six months of probation without issue.

But the judge wasted no time having Wood begin his sentence, stating, after delivering the verdict,

“He’s going straight to jail today.”

According to RT,

Prosecutors argued that Wood was trying to influence potential jurors before they heard a case against Andy Yoder, an Amish man who was accused of draining a wetland that was on his property.

Yoder took a plea deal that day and the case never went to trial. Wood said he did not know Yoder, and he only wanted to inform potential jurors that they had the right to vote their conscience over the law.

In June, a jury found Wood guilty of ‘attempting to influence a jury,’ which Michigan defines as “[willful] attempts to influence the decision of a juror in any case by argument or persuasion, other than as part of the proceedings in open court in the trial of the case” — despite his lack of knowledge or interest in specific cases ongoing at the time, as well as his presence on a public sidewalk abutting the courthouse in question.

“This is not a person who made a one-time mistake, he hasn’t demonstrated that he has kind of shown that he realizes now the significance of what he’s done, in fact the testimony shows the contrary,” prosecuting attorney, Nathan Hull, told WMXI, of Wood’s pamphleting outside the courthouse.

Wood’s attorneys contended the father had not discussed specific cases, and had merely been exercising First Amendment-protected free speech in distributing pamphlets to willing takers in a public area.

That prosecutors, judges, and now, a jury, found the distribution of educational material not only an (albeit murky) violation of the law, but worthy of locking a father of eight in a cage for any amount of time at all, vivifies the sharp shift toward authoritarian thinking over subjective analysis, morality, and ethics — and, perhaps, further emphasizes the reasoning behind Wood’s attempt to educate the public, in the first place.

“He exercised what he believes are his free speech rights, did it out on the sidewalk before this court, and that because of that, that deserves 45 days in jail, let alone one day in jail?” David Kallman, an attorney representing Wood, told a local FOX News affiliate. “I totally disagree with that.”

Indeed, while the rights, freedoms, and their protections traditionally afforded every American seemingly vanish by the hour, this case — a father sentenced to jail for even informing juries they have rights indelibly inked into the Constitution — proves we’re losing the battle with a control-freak State.

If educating our neighbors of their rights thus entails a possible stint in the slammer, it may behoove all of us to hit the books — as what happened to Keith Wood could prognosticate a coming tourniquet on the free flow of information. Pastor Jack Graham Answers the Question: How Do We Face the Growing Darkness?

James and Betty Robison recently sat down with Dr. Jack Graham, pastor of the 40,000+ member Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, TX. They asked him what he says to churchgoers distraught about what is happening in America. The full interview is scheduled for Sept. 6 and 8 on Life Today. Below are some sneak previews.

Facing the Darkness

Can Christians Vote for Those Who “Shed Innocent Blood?”

The Challenge for the Church to Stand Up to Those Who Are “Moving the Mark.”

James Robison emphasized the difference between living in a society affected by evil versus being part of a society “sold out to evil.” He and Graham then discussed those intent on “moving the mark” by working to remove Judeo-Christian norms and punishing those who speak out against their efforts.

“It Has to Start with the Pastors — We are compromised at many levels.”

We Have the Tools to Fix This.

They then discussed the way forward: not dependence on a political solution (though we need to vote). It is much more a rising to the Christian responsibility of speaking truth to power boldly, as Daniel, Joseph and the prophets did. That must be done by all of us, great and small.

Betty Robison, A Mother and Grandmother, Weighs in on the Urgency of the Times.

James asked his wife Betty to discuss her thoughts concerning the times. “We need to be weeping,” she said. “Our hearts need to be crushed.” She added that the church must fall on its face in prayer, then rise up with courage, strength and boldness and “march together.” (For more from the author of “Pastor Jack Graham Answers the Question: How Do We Face the Growing Darkness?” please click HERE)

Ohio Pastor Shot and Killed During Sunday Service

Photo Credit: Dayton Daily News Archive An Ohio pastor with deep roots in the Dayton community was shot and killed at his church, and police have taken his brother into custody for the slaying.

Dayton police say 70-year-old William B. Schooler was shot around 12:30 p.m. Sunday while in his office at St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church.

According to CBS affiliate WHIO, witnesses said the shooting happened at the pulpit while the choir was singing. However, police have reported that Schooler was not in the pulpit when he was attacked.

His brother, 68-year-old Daniel Gregory Schooler, was in Montgomery County jail Sunday. Police Sgt. Richard Blommel says he’ll face a murder charge Monday.

WHIO reports that back in 2001, Daniel was charged with felonious assault with a firearm specification and carrying a concealed weapon, according to Montgomery County Common Pleas court records. (Read more from “Ohio Pastor Shot and Killed During Sunday Service” HERE)

Pastor Protection Act Deserves Support

Identical Pastor Protection Acts introduced this legislative session by Soldotna Sen. Peter Micciche (SB120) and Healy Rep. Dave Talerico (HB236) would do the following three things generally covered by the First Amendment but not spelled out in statute:

Affirm the rights of clergy, rabbis and religious congregations to decline participation in same-sex marriages

Ensure that neither clergy nor religious congregations must provide services or accommodation for same-sex marriages

Protect clergy and religious congregations from any criminal or civil liability for refusing to perform or offer services or accommodations for same-sex marriages

A similar bill was signed into law last June in Texas, has passed the House in Florida and is moving toward Governor desks in Georgia, Tennessee and other states.

Why this bill? It specifies religious freedom rights implied, but not spelled out, in current statute. Today’s legal and cultural environment is absolutely different than in times past. Additional protections are justified and should be welcomed. Even Texas Equality, an LGBT advocacy group, supported the Pastor Protection Act in that state.

Is this bill necessary? Definitely. First Amendment Freedoms are under attack. LGBT advocates have been successful in framing their argument as discrimination. Religious freedom and sexual freedom are pitted against each other on many levels in today’s culture. This law levels the playing field to a certain degree.

Examples abound as to why this bill is justified:

Anchorage Assembly members recently forced a sexual orientation, gender identity, non-discrimination ordinance upon residents that prevents faith-based schools, churches and other religious organizations from making their own hiring decisions.

Officials in Idaho threatened to punish a senior citizen couple – both ordained pastors – if they declined to officiate same-sex ceremonies.

A proposed national Equality Act seeks to “authoritatively set the morals of a community.” This makes the state the arbitrator of morality, not a person’s conscience.

The ACLU recently decided to withdraw its support from religious freedom laws to support ‘same-sex’ marriage.

The Cincinnati City Council recently passed an ordinance banning mental health professionals (including pastors who are licensed) from counseling people experiencing unwanted, same-sex attraction. A pastor reports threats of fines of up to $73,000 per year for using Scripture to counsel youth.

In other countries, LGBT pressures reveal a disturbing erosion of freedom of speech, association, and religion.

A gay couple in the UK sued the Church of England to force the church to perform a same-sex wedding less than two weeks after England passed its gay ‘marriage’ bill.

Canadian Dawn Stefanowicz is one of six adult children of gay parents who filed an amicus brief with US Supreme Court prior to the Obergefell decision. She warns of the sharp decline in freedoms since same-sex marriage was federally mandated in Canada in 2005. Human Rights Commissions and Tribunals can prosecute against discriminatory “hate speech”- written or spoken. The government pays all the plaintiff’s legal fees, but does not reimburse the defendant even if found innocent.

SB120 and HB236 are both sensible measures needed now to keep Alaska pluralistic. Allowing everyone to live their lives consistent with their deeply held convictions is something we should all get behind.

Cult Starved Two Year Old to Death to ‘Rid Him of Demon’

Police say the pastors at a Balch Springs church starved a 2-year-old boy they said was possessed by a demon, and later held a ceremony to resurrect the boy.

Several people told police the boy was given water four to five times a day, but no food for 25 days before he died on March 22. A church member tried to feed the boy, but the pastors scolded her and forbade her from doing so, according to court records.

Aracely Meza, 49, was arrested Monday and charged with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury by omission. Lt. Mark Maret, a spokesman for Balch Springs police, said police expect to make more arrests as the investigation continues.

The church, named Iglesia Internacional Jesus es el Rey, is operated out of a house in the 12300 block of Duke Drive . . .

Court records say Meza, her husband and several others lived in the house. Meza acted as the church’s vice president and claimed to be a prophet who could communicate directly with God, according to court records. (Read more from “Pastors Starved Two Year Old to Death to ‘Rid Him of Demon'” HERE)

Mega Pastor: Ignore the Bible to Stay Relevant (especially 2 Peter 2:1)

By Jennifer Van Laar. During a special Valentine’s Day episode of Super Soul Sunday on OWN, Oprah Winfrey asked her spiritual advisor Rob Bell if he thought churches were close to accepting homosexuality and same-sex marriage.

He answered that “we’re moments away from the church accepting it,” and that Christians needed to stop relying on its holy text as a basis for opposing homosexuality:

“I think culture is already there and the church will continue to be even more irrelevant when it quotes letters from 2,000 years ago as their best defense, when you have in front of you flesh-and-blood people who are your brothers and sisters, and aunts and uncles, and co-workers and neighbors, and they love each other and just want to go through life with someone.”

Bell and his wife, Kristen, were discussing their book on marriage, The Zimzum of Love, with Winfrey when the exchange took place. The book provides “A new way of understanding marriage” which Bell seemed to imply also included gay couples. (Read more about the pastor saying to ignore the Bible HERE)

[Editor’s note: Mr. Bell should probably take a few minutes and reflect upon 2 Peter 2:1]

Rob Bell on Gay Marriage Support: God Pulling Us Ahead to Affirm Gay Brothers, Sisters

By Nicola Menzie. “I believe God [is] pulling us ahead into greater and greater affirmation and acceptance of our gay brothers and sisters and pastors and friends and neighbors and coworkers,” former megachurch pastor and best-selling author Rob Bell explained just days after surprising the evangelical Christian community with his expressed support for same-sex marriage.

The former Mars Hill Bible Church founder and controversial Love Wins author told Odyssey Networks in an interview published Wednesday that many people are “realizing that God makes some of us one way and some of us another, and it can be a beautiful thing.”

The video interview, titled “Why Rob Bell Supports Gay Marriage,” comes just days after the Michigan church founder visited San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral (the Episcopal Cathedral of the Diocese of California) in a promotional book tour to discuss his purpose for writing What We Talk About When We Talk About God, his views on evangelical Christianity and future projects he has lined up.

During that event, Bell was asked about his stance on same-sex marriage and he explained that he was “for marriage.”

“I am for fidelity. I am for love, whether it’s a man and a woman, a woman and a woman, a man and a man. I think the ship has sailed and I think that the church needs to just … this is the world that we are living in and we need to affirm people wherever they are,” he responded.
