‘They’ve Come for Me, They Can Come for You’: Peter Navarro Blasts Biden’s DOJ for ‘Chilling Effect’ on Americans

Holding a press conference in Miami before reporting to prison, former Trump advisor Peter Navarro said the justice system in the US will “have done a crippling blow to the constitutional separation of powers and executive privilege.”

Navarro also criticized the “emergence of lawfare and the partisan weaponization of our justice system, which we have seen done to this country with a vengeance since the coming of Donald John Trump as president.”

“I am the first senior White House advisor in the history of our republic that has ever been charged with this alleged crime,” Navarro said. Navarro was sentenced to four months in prison for contempt of Congress for not complying with the subpoena due to executive privilege.

“When I received that congressional subpoena…I had an honest belief that the privilege had been invoked,” he told US District Judge Amit Mehta in the January sentencing hearing.

“I say alleged because for hundreds of years this has not been a crime. And for 50 years, the Department of Justice has maintained the principle of absolute testimony immunity, and it was only with my case that somehow that has changed.”

Peter Navarro: ‘Everything’ Mitch McConnell ‘Did Was Designed to Screw Donald Trump’

Peter Navarro, former White House director of trade and manufacturing policy and author of Taking Back Trump’s America: Why We Lost the White House and How We’ll Win It Back, told Breitbart News on Tuesday that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) subverted former President Donald Trump’s “drain the swamp” pursuit by delaying appointments for top officials at federal government agencies and departments.

“The only thing I’ll give to his credit is he helped President Trump get a lot of conservative judges appointed — okay, good for him — but everything else he did was designed to screw Donald Trump,” Navarro said on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow.

He continued, “The worst thing he did, in my judgment, was to slow-walk all of the Trump appointees to the major departments and agencies, so if you don’t have those folks in the top of those agencies, you cannot drain the swamp — and then fast-forward — McConnell made one the stupidest gambles in conjunction with Fox’s Karl Rove in Georgia, and they screwed up those Senate races.”

Navarro said McConnell expected Democrats to win a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives and the presidency in 2020 while retaining his majority leader status in the U.S. Senate. (Read more from “Peter Navarro: ‘Everything’ Mitch McConnell ‘Did Was Designed to Screw Donald Trump’” HERE)

Feds Want Gag Order on Peter Navarro in Contempt Case for Defying House Jan. 6 Committee

Federal prosecutors have requested a gag order against Peter Navarro, as the former Trump White House adviser faces criminal contempt of Congress charges for refusing a subpoena from the House Jan. 6 committee.

The prosecutors say they want to ensure Mr. Navarro does not share discovery evidence with the public as he prepares his defense. They said it could create a “carnival atmosphere.”

“The defendant’s extrajudicial statements … demonstrate a substantial risk that, without a protective order, the defendant will use non-public discovery for improper purposes instead of to prepare the defense he plans to present before this court,” the prosecutors wrote.

Mr. Navarro, who was indicted by a grand jury last week, has objected to the FBI’s handling of his arrest which was carried out at Reagan National Airport in Washington. He said the public arrest was a punitive measure.

On Wednesday, Mr. Navarro also said he is at a disadvantage because does not have the means to retain a lawyer. (Read more from “Feds Want Gag Order on Peter Navarro in Contempt Case for Defying House Jan. 6 Committee” HERE)

Jan. 6 Committee Subpoenas Peter Navarro

The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill subpoenaed former White House trade adviser Peter Navarro.

The Jan. 6 committee made the announcement on Wednesday, saying investigators are interested in records and information Navarro has about efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and his work with Steve Bannon and others to delay Congress’s certification of the 2020 election.

“Mr. Navarro appears to have information directly relevant to the select committee’s investigation into the causes of the January 6th attack on the Capitol,” Rep. Bennie Thompson, chairman of the Jan. 6 committee, said in a statement. “He hasn’t been shy about his role in efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election and has even discussed the former President’s support for those plans. More than 500 witnesses have provided information in our investigation, and we expect Mr. Navarro to do so as well.”

In a statement to the Washington Examiner, Navarro blasted the inquiry as a “partisan witch hunt” and appeared to suggest he would not cooperate with the Jan. 6 committee. He claimed that news of the subpoena had been leaked to key members of the press before he received it. Navarro also questioned why House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the Capitol Police, and the Pentagon left the “perimeter unguarded” at the Capitol.
