Where’s the Outrage? China ‘Pledges’ to Increase Pollution for Another Decade

Communist China’s contribution to the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland, was an emissions “pledge” that proposed increasing China’s pollution output over the next few years.

Chinese dictator Xi Jinping still claims his country will somehow reverse these trends in a very short period of time and become “carbon neutral” before 2060.

The South China Morning Post (SCMP) on Friday described China’s climate pledge as “modest” and “disappointing” to COP26 climate activists, who are pushing for “net zero” worldwide by 2030.

China, the world’s largest polluter, pumps out more greenhouse gas than all of the other industrialized nations combined. China is currently undergoing a severe energy crisis and last week ordered an “all-out” increase in coal production to fuel its power plants.

The SCMP reported China is trying to placate climate activists by building showpiece wind and solar energy projects – which is nonsensical as anything but theatrics, as solar panels and windmills do not magically absorb the emissions from coal-fired power plants – and stepping up reforestation projects, which do process carbon, but all of the trees in Asia would be very hard-pressed to devour all the gas China will produce as it burns record-breaking volumes of coal. Mass Fish Die-Off Not Caused by Pollution, Experts Say

Thousands of dead fish washed up in the Mystic River in Everett and Somerville this week, blanketing the muddy shorelines and emanating a stench that customers and employees at a nearby Costco store said could be whiffed from the parking lot.

But city and state officials, as well as local environmentalists, said Thursday that while the sight was alarming, the fish had died due to natural causes.

Patrick Herron, executive director of the Mystic River Watershed Association, said the Department of Environmental Protection and state Division of Fisheries and Wildlife were investigating what he called a “die-off” that left tens of thousands of menhaden — or, as they’re more commonly known, “pogies” — in the area. . .

“The die-off started seemingly on Monday, but on Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday, large numbers of the fish were showing up dead,” he said. “It appears they are in the high thousands, if not in the tens of thousands.”

According to the state Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, water samples recently taken by MassDEP investigators did not show any problems with oil or hazardous materials, indicating the fish kill was not pollution-related. The water was around 83 degrees Wednesday, they said. (Read more from “Mass Fish Die-Off Not Caused by Pollution, Experts Say” HERE)

These 7 Short Videos Clear up Myths About Air Pollution

The Texas Public Policy Foundation came out with a series of short videos addressing myths about air pollution and the effects of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Power Plan.

The plan was first proposed by the EPA in 2014 and the final version was unveiled by President Barack Obama in August 2015. In February, the Supreme Court issued a stay on the plan until the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals makes a decision on a 27-state lawsuit.

“Our series of short videos about the EPA’s Clean Power Plan, air pollution, and climate change educate younger Americans about the tremendous progress we’ve made in cleaning our air of toxic emissions while pointing out that carbon dioxide—a gas we all exhale—is non-toxic plant fertilizer,” Chuck DeVore, vice president of national initiatives for the Texas Public Policy Foundation, said.

DeVore said the EPA’s Clean Power Plan would ultimately result in higher electric bills—up to 30 percent higher—while potentially only reducing the planet’s temperature by 0.03 degrees Fahrenheit by 2100.

Here’s a look at the seven videos.

1. The EPA Clean Power Plan is based on alarmist claims but will raise your electric bill by 30 percent.

2. Some politicians and bureaucrats want to raise your bills to make the planet 0.03 degrees Fahrenheit cooler in 80 years.

3. The government’s own data shows the inconvenient truth for climate activists that sulfur dioxide levels have gone down as the air has become increasingly cleaner.

4. Ozone emissions have declined 33 percent since 1980, another sign that air has become cleaner.

5. Nitrogen dioxide levels have declined 57 percent since 1980, meaning American air has actually become cleaner.

6. Lead levels have gone down 98 percent since 1980 as air has become cleaner.

7. Carbon monoxide levels have decreased 85 percent since 1980 as air has become cleaner.

Polluted Nuclear Weapons Site to Become Tourist Destination

The nation’s most polluted nuclear weapons production site is now its newest national park.

Thousands of people are expected next year to tour the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, home of the world’s first full-sized nuclear reactor, near Richland, about 200 miles east of Seattle in south-central Washington.

They won’t be allowed anywhere near the nation’s largest collection of toxic radioactive waste. (Read more from “Polluted Nuclear Weapons Site to Become Tourist Destination” HERE)

Ship Company, Engineer Reach Deal in Alaska Pollution Case

A ship company based in Germany and the chief engineer on one of its vessels have agreed to plead guilty to illegally dumping oily water off Alaska.

Federal prosecutors announced Thursday that AML Ship Management GMBH and Nicolas Sassin, the chief engineer on the AML-operated ship City of Tokyo, agreed to plead guilty to violating federal clean water law by knowingly dumping 4,500 gallons of oily bilge water south of the Aleutian Islands.

The company and Sassin, 45, face a separate charge of presenting false pollution oversight records to the U.S. Coast Guard when the vessel docked in Portland, Oregon, prosecutors said.

As part of the plea deal, AML agreed to pay $800,000 in fines and community service payments.

Prosecutors are recommending a six-month jail sentence for Sassin, to run concurrent with any jail time imposed from a conviction in the Oregon case. (Read more about the Alaska pollution case HERE)

2800 Dead Pigs in China’s Drinking Water – Just the Tip of the Soot Covered Iceberg?

How this horrendous story slipped past China’s ministry of tourism is baffling…Or is this just too horrific to bury? Over the weekend it was announced that Chinese officials were fishing the carcasses of 2,800 dead pigs out of the Huangpu River. This river bisects Shanghai and is a source of drinking water for the city’s 23 million residents.

There was a recent outbreak of swine death in China’s farms due to cramped and unhealthy conditions and tens of thousands of animals died from infectious disease.

Chinese officials had forbidden farmers from selling diseased pig parts and were told to dispose of the carcasses in landfills. Evidently it was easier to dump almost 3,000 of these diseased carcasses into the river.

Of course Chinese officials say there is nothing to worry about, just move along…But China’s citizens give very little credibility to what they are told by their government. There is growing unrest among the population, due to deteriorating air and water pollution.

One resident summed it up with: “Have we been drinking dead-pig-polluted water? We are already panicked by the polluted air, now we have to worry about poisoned water too.”

China’s growing industrialization has been done at the expense of its environment and those chickens are coming home to roost…for China and the rest of the world.

Massive amounts of air pollution fueled by unfiltered or poorly filtered power plants, not only cause some of the worst smog in the world, they also send millions of tons of ash into the atmosphere to settle upon ice sheets which can cause ice melt to glaciers and ice packs. The culprit is soot, not carbon dioxide.

Many 3rd world countries want what the west has: Modern society, refrigeration, air conditioning, electric light, manufacturing, etc., but they can’t afford/won’t pay for the environmental protections the west has developed over the years.

Successful/heralded American companies like Wal-Mart and Apple, import and manufacture goods from these countries escaping our environmental/labor laws.

The problem is though, when Apple employs hundreds of thousands of Chinese workers to manufacture their I Pads and other products, the pollution doesn’t stay in China.

Ironically and dangerously, the very air pollution they help create in China, drifts over the Pacific to create air pollution in California.

The elephant in the California living room, is some of the air pollution environmental zealots are trying to crush with many of the harshest controls in the nation…Aren’t stemming from California, but instead are wafting over the golden state from manufacturing done in China, for California based companies.

How can American companies who manufacture products in the USA compete with companies like Apple and Wal-Mart, who don’t have to respect the environment in the host countries they set up shop in?

Can American companies compete with the almost antebellum labor practices (indentured servitude/slavery) practiced in countries of the 3rdworld, like China? Workers basically live on site in barracks and work long hours with poor pay and they are forced to buy from the company store. See CNN story on Apple/Foxconn

Conditions were so bad in some of the factories making Apple products; workers staged mass suicides by jumping off of buildings, to protest inhumane working conditions. Supervisors solved that problem by installing suicide nets to catch the jumping workers.

Apples manufacturer has also taken other steps to solve labor problem with the introduction of a million robots to do the work that humans once did.

Robots don’t complain, or throw themselves off buildings in protest…Robots also don’t mind if the air or water is polluted….The best of all worlds for corporations that only care for their bottom line.

European Study: Most Biofuels More Environmentally Damaging than Gasoline

The controversial debate over the sustainability of biofuels has been reignited by new research from Swiss-based research institute Empa. While the study maintains that biofuels can be sustainable depending on certain conditions and the technology involved, the findings suggest that only a few are more environmentally friendly than gasoline.

The study entitled Harmonisation and extension of the bioenergy inventories and assessment was carried out by the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) in conjunction with the Institute Agroscope Reckenholz-Tänikon (ART), and the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI). It is an update on a first of its kind report compiled in 2007, made more relevant for the present with new energy plants, manufacturing processes and updated assessment methods. Yet, the researchers arrived at a similar conclusion.

Although biofuels can have a smaller carbon footprint compared with fossil fuels, they produce other types of environmental pollution, including soil acidity and excessive levels of fertilizers finding their way into lakes and rivers.

More alarmingly, biofuels from deforested areas have a bigger greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint than fossil fuels. This is also true of indirect land usage – if existing agricultural land is used for the first time for a biofuel crop, new areas will have to be cleared to make up for displaced food and animal feed crops.

“Most biofuels therefore just deflect the environmental impact: fewer greenhouse gases, thus more growth-related pollution for land used for agriculture,” says Empa researcher Rainer Zah.

Busted! Leaked emails snag NASA’s global warming alarmists

While NASA climate alarmist James Hansen insists record summer heat and drought are caused by man-made global warming, leaked internal emails from just three summers ago reveal that he and his colleagues expressed alarm that the planet was inexplicably … cooling.

Hansen, often called the “godfather of global warming,” announced earlier this month that blistering heat across the United States is so rare that it can’t be anything but the man-made global warming he has been warning about for decades.

“This is not some scientific theory,” he told the Associated Press. “We are now experiencing scientific fact.”

But in 2009, as the thermometer hit record lows in America, he and other climate scientists panicked in a flurry of emails: “Skeptics will be all over us – the world is really cooling, the models are no good.”

They lamented that Mother Nature was not cooperating with their predictions that global temperatures would smash heat records last decade. They blamed their miscalculation on sulfate emission trajectories and revised their forecast to show a cooling trend lasting until 2020.
