Catholic Priests Complain That There Are Too Many Possessed People to Manage

Catholic priests are complaining that there are just too many possessed people in the world.

Exorcists in Italy are overwhelmed, with some saying they are seeing dozens of troubling cases every day.

Speaking to researchers at Regina Apostolorum’s 16th annual exorcism course in Rome, the burnt-out priests said they need help.

The course attracted 120 participants, who have been spurred on by Pope Francis, a keen supporter of the practice in the fight against evil spirits.

Exorcists at the conference, which attempted to offer support, said they were in need of psychologists to help them determine who was actually possessed and who needed clinical support. (Read more from “Catholic Priests Complain That There Are Too Many Possessed People to Manage” HERE)

Pope Francis Passes Over Archbishop Who Barred Pelosi From Communion

Pope Francis on Sunday named as cardinal San Diego Bishop Robert W. McElroy, a Roman Catholic leader who had spoken out against the calls for bishops to exclude pro-choice politicians like President Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from Holy Communion over their stances on abortion.

The move comes in the wake of San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone’s announcement earlier this month that he would bar Pelosi from receiving Holy Communion due to her stance on abortion. In naming McElroy, Francis passed over Cordileone, who holds a higher rank.

McElroy, one of 21 new cardinals Pope Francis announced Sunday, will be installed Aug. 27 at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, the diocese of San Diego announced.

The San Diego bishop warned against the idea of denying Communion to pro-choice politicians in 2021, when U.S. bishops were considering altering their policy on Communion, which Catholics also call the Eucharist.

“The proposal to exclude pro-choice Catholic political leaders from the Eucharist is the wrong step,” McElroy wrote for the Jesuit magazine America. “It will bring tremendously destructive consequences—not because of what it says about abortion, but because of what it says about the Eucharist.” (Read more from “Pope Francis Passes Over Archbishop Who Barred Pelosi From Communion” HERE)

God ‘Does Not Disown’ LGBTQ People, Pope Francis Says

Pope Francis said “God is Father and he does not disown any of his children,” telling an inquiring American Jesuit priest it is the most important thing for LGBTQ people to know about God.

The pope made his statements in what the Rev. James Martin, SJ, called “a mini-interview” that he initiated May 5.

Father Martin, whose ministry to gay Catholics has sparked controversy, had asked Francis whether the pontiff would answer “a few of the most common questions” those Catholics and their families ask him.

In his written response, Francis said “‘the style’ of God is ‘closeness, mercy and tenderness.’”

The pope also said gay Catholics should view rejection from others in the faith “not as ‘the rejection of the church,’ but instead [the rejection] of ‘people in the church.’” (Read more from “God ‘Does Not Disown’ LGBTQ People, Pope Francis Says” HERE)

Pope Francis Says NATO Started War in Ukraine by ‘Barking at Putin’s Door’

Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Pope Francis has floated the idea that he wants to take a trip to Kyiv to try to broker a ceasefire. But now he says he would prefer to go to Moscow to try to talk some sense into Vladimir Putin, who he has not outwardly condemned in the now nearly three-month-old war and only did so lightly in a lengthy interview with an Italian newspaper.

“I feel that before going to Kyiv, I must go to Moscow,” he told Corriere Della Sera in an interview that ran Tuesday. But the meeting would not exactly be to condemn Putin, based on what he told the paper. He said that the real “scandal” of Putin’s war is “NATO barking at Russia’s door,” which he said caused the Kremlin to “react badly and unleash the conflict.” . . .

“I don’t know how to answer—I’m too far away—the question of whether it is right to supply the Ukrainians,” he told the paper. “The clear thing is that weapons are being tested there. The Russians now know that tanks are of little use and are thinking of other things. This is why wars are waged: to test the weapons we have produced. Few people are fighting this trade, but more should be done.” . . .

Francis veered toward conspiracy theory as he blamed the international community for instigating the war. “You cannot think that a free state can make war on another free state,” he said. “In Ukraine, it seems that it was others who created the conflict. I am pessimistic but we must do everything possible to stop the war.” The pope then said that in a state visit to Rome by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, he was told “the Russians have a plan, that everything will end on May 9” without giving any further explanation. May 9 is the day Russia celebrates its liberation and the end of World War II. (Read more from “Pope Francis Says NATO Started War in Ukraine by ‘Barking at Putin’s Door’” HERE)

Woke Pope Good Friday Declaration: ‘We Are Racists!’; Compares Migrants to Jesus

Pope Francis accused the West of racism Friday, insisting migrants are “subdivided” by skin color and country of origin.

“Refugees are subdivided,” the pontiff declared during a lengthy Good Friday interview on Italian television. “There’s first class, second class, skin color, [whether] they come from a developed country [or] one that is not developed.”

“We are racists, we are racists. And this is bad,” the pope stated.

As he has done on other occasions, Francis compared the current problem of migrants and refugees to the flight into Egypt of Joseph, Mary, and Jesus when King Herod was seeking to kill him.

“The problem of the refugees is a problem that Jesus suffered too, because he was a migrant and a refugee in Egypt when he was a child, to escape death,” he said. “How many of them are suffering to escape death!” (Read more from “Woke Pope Good Friday Declaration: ‘We Are Racists!’; Compares Migrants to Jesus” HERE)

Pope Abruptly Removes Popular Conservative Bishop Who Opposed Vax, Protests Erupt

By Life Site News. Pope Francis has removed outspoken conservative Bishop Daniel Fernández Torres of the Diocese of Arecibo in Puerto Rico without formal proceedings, over allegations of disobedience and lack of collegiality with fellow Puerto Rican bishops.

The Holy See announced that Pope Francis “relieved” the Arecibo bishop from pastoral care of his diocese in a March 9 notice.

Bishop Fernández Torres, 57, a staunch defender of life and family and an opponent of COVID vaccine mandates, protested his removal as “totally unjust” in a statement Wednesday.

The bishop, who led the Diocese of Arecibo for nearly 12 years, noted that Pope Francis’ apostolic delegate to Puerto Rico verbally requested that he resign, but said that he refused to do so, as he “did not want to become an accomplice of a totally unjust action.”

“No process has been made against me,” Bishop Fernández Torres wrote, “nor have I been formally accused of anything, and simply one day the apostolic delegate verbally communicated to me that Rome was asking me to resign.” (Read more from “Pope Abruptly Removes Popular Conservative Bishop Who Opposed Vax, Protests Erupt” HERE)

Watch: Catholics, Other Christians Protest Pope’s Removal of Puerto Rican Bishop

By Life Site News. Puerto Rican Catholics and other Christians protested Pope Francis’ removal of a popular, conservative bishop in a demonstration on Sunday.

A large group of people gathered in front of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in San Juan in support of Bishop Daniel Fernández Torres, who was dismissed from the Diocese of Arecibo last week without a canonical process over allegations of disobedience to the pope. The bishop’s ousting was a direct result of his defense of conscience objections to COVID-19 shots, according to news reports.

Catholics from dioceses across the island came to testify to the bishop’s character on Sunday and demand that the pope reinstate him.

“Before becoming a bishop, he was a public defender of the faith, of the family, and a great teacher of principles and values,” organizers said. “A vigilant soldier to safeguard everyone’s freedom of conscience. An example of meekness, firmness and dignity.”

“Let them hear it here, let them hear it in Rome: Monsignor Daniel is innocent,” demonstrators chanted throughout the event. (Read more from “Watch: Catholics, Other Christians Protest Pope’s Removal of Puerto Rican Bishop” HERE)

Pope Francis Praises Nun Who Ran LGBT Ministry

Decades after she was barred from pastoral work by the Vatican, Pope Francis has sent a letter of thanks to an American nun who held services for LGBT people, in which she questioned some teachings of the Church.

Since the late 1970s, Sister Jeannine Gramick ran workshops for LGBT Catholics, in which she taught both the Catholic Church’s position on homosexuality and more liberal Christian doctrines. These workshops caught the attention of the Vatican, and in 1999 the Church’s Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith barred her from ministry, as she was promoting, in their words, “ambiguous positions on homosexuality and explicitly criticised documents of the Church’s Magisterium on this issue.”

The Congregation’s statement was written by then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, and described homosexuality as an “intrinsic evil.”

Gramick ceased her LGBT ministry and joined another religious order. Ratzinger went on to become Pontiff – Pope Benedict XVI – and was regarded as a staunch conservative. His successor, Pope Francis, has a more liberal reputation.

In a letter to Gramick sent last month and published by the Jesuit magazine ‘America’ on Friday, Francis thanked the nun for her “closeness, compassion, and tenderness.” The pontiff acknowledged that Gramick had experienced “suffering” during her 50 years of ministry, but did not elaborate further on the topic. WATCH: Pope Francis Says ‘Sins of the Flesh’ Aren’t That ‘Serious’

Lust is not the worst of the seven deadly sins, according to Pope Francis.

There are worse indiscretions than sex outside of marriage, the leader of the Catholic Church told reporters on the papal plane while en route from Greece to Italy on Monday, Reuters reported.

“Sins of the flesh are not the most serious,” the 84-year-old religious leader said regarding sex outside of marriage. Top transgressions instead include pride and hatred, according to Reuters.

Francis’ rankings of the worst wrongdoings followed the resignation of a Paris archbishop, who quit over a relationship with a woman earlier this month. However, the 70-year-old French cleric, Michel Aupetit, denied being intimate with the anonymous female, behavior that would break his promise of celibacy, according to Reuters.

“It was a failing against the sixth commandment (You shall not commit adultery) but not a total one, one of small caresses, massage given to his secretary — that is what the accusation is,” Francis clarified about Aupetit’s actions. “There is a sin there but not the worst kind.” (Read more from “Pope Francis Says ‘Sins of the Flesh’ Aren’t That ‘Serious'” HERE)

Woke Pope Compares Climate Change to World War II

Pope Francis sent a striking message to the U.N. Climate Conference in Glasgow Tuesday, in which he compared the effects of climate change to those of World War II.

“The wounds inflicted on our human family by the Covid-19 pandemic and the phenomenon of climate change are comparable to those resulting from a global conflict,” the pope said in his message to COP26, read aloud in Glasgow by Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

“Today, as in the aftermath of the Second World War, the international community as a whole needs to set as a priority the implementation of collegial, solidary and farsighted actions,” the pontiff continued.

A little further along, Francis returned to the same analogy, forecasting that “in the near future, environmental migrants will be more numerous than refugees from war and conflicts.”

In his message, the pope urged the world’s leaders to take up “the vital task of demonstrating to the entire international community whether there really exists a political will to devote – with honesty, responsibility and courage – greater human, financial and technological resources to mitigating the negative effects of climate change.” (Read more from “Woke Pope Compares Climate Change to World War II” HERE)

Pope Francis Condemns Abortion as ‘Direct Killing’ of Unborn Children

Pope Francis underscored the inviolable right to life from conception to natural death in an address to the Pontifical Academy for Life Monday.

People have gotten used to abortion, the pope said in his address in the Vatican, because they fail to look at the reality and see “it is really a murder.”

Abortion consists in “the disposal of children that we do not want to accept,” he said, meaning they are “returned to sender by direct killing.”

“It is really a murder and to understand it well perhaps it helps us to ask a double question: is it right to eliminate, to take out a human life to solve a problem?” he asked. “Is it okay to hire a hitman to solve a problem?”

“This is abortion,” he said. (Read more from “Pope Francis Condemns Abortion as ‘Direct Killing’ of Unborn Children” HERE)
