Every State Facing Deceptive, Unlimited Abortion Ballot Measures This November

Democrats and their abortion giant allies want to legalize killing unborn babies throughout all nine months of gestation in every state. A majority of U.S. adults reject that position, but that fact hasn’t stopped the ballot measure battle that plagued Ohio last year from infiltrating several other states, including those controlled by Republicans, during the 2024 election cycle. . .

Florida voters will be asked come November 5 to weigh in on a state constitutional amendment declaring, “No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider.” . . .

Maryland is already one of the most pro-abortion states in the U.S., but a ballot measure up for vote on Election Day 2024 could make the state’s sweeping abortion provisions more permanent and prevent any limits from being enacted in the future. . .

New York, similar to Maryland, already has unlimited abortion as long as a medical professional deems the life or health — physical or mental — of the mother at risk. Abortion activists are asking New Yorkers to further enshrine abortion in the state by ratifying an Equal Rights Amendment that would effectively prevent the government from enacting limits on baby-killing in the future. . .

Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris and outside abortion groups such as ACLU and Planned Parenthood, flocked to the Grand Canyon State this year to promote a measure that, if added to the 2024 ballot and passed, adds a “fundamental right to abortion” to the state constitution. WaPo’s Headline About Pregnancy and COVID Breakthrough Infections Is a Hot Mess

. . .Did you see The Washington Post headline about pregnancy and breakthrough cases? Can you guess which word was erased when discussing pregnancy? Better yet, who can only get pregnant and carry a child in this world? Is it a man? No. It is a woman? Yes, but you’d never know because the liberal paper decided to go with “pregnant people” to adhere to the woke mob’s standards of science fiction and political correctness. What fresh hell is this? This is an article about a scientific study, and The Washington Post uses a fake lefty lexicon that erases biological facts to avoid upsetting people. Remember, words are violence, right? Why is the media mocked and not believed? Well, here’s your purest example; an article about a scientific study that’s written through the lens of science fiction (via WaPo) [emphasis mine:]

Pregnant people who are vaccinated against the coronavirus are nearly twice as likely to get covid-19 as those who are not pregnant, according to a new study that offers the broadest evidence to date of the odds of infections among vaccinated patients with different medical circumstances.

The analysis, based on medical records of nearly 14 million U.S. patients since coronavirus immunization became available, found that pregnant people who are vaccinated have the greatest risk of developing covid among a dozen medical states, including being an organ transplant recipient and having cancer.

The findings come on top of research showing that people who are pregnant or gave birth recently and became infected are especially prone to getting seriously ill from covid-19. And covid has been found to increase the risk of pregnancy complications, such as premature births.

Birth Control Pill May Be Shrinking the Brain

Birth control pills are one of the most popular ways American women prevent pregnancy, but scientists still don’t fully understand the medication’s unintended side effects. Now, a study points to a newly detected side effect of birth control: physical changes to a crucial area of the brain.

Brain scans from 50 women show that oral contraceptive pills may impact brain structure — something that previous studies haven’t really looked into, Michael Lipton, a professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the study’s lead author, tells Inverse.

Lipton and his team determined that oral contraceptive pills, or OCPs, were linked to lower brain volume in the hypothalamus. This is the area of the brain that affects body processes, like body temperature and heart rate, and brain processes, like appetite, mood, and sex drive. The new findings add an extra dimension to these known side effects.

The idea that brain volume changes when a person is on birth control isn’t as far-fetched as it may seem. Scientists already know that sex hormones like estrogen and progesterone can cross the blood-brain barrier, and when hormones fluctuate naturally they do affect the brain, Lipton says.

Meanwhile, hormonal variation during the average menstrual cycle is linked to structural and functional brain changes. Taking an oral pill may also have similar affects on the brain, the study suggests. (Read more from “Birth Control Pill May Be Shrinking the Brain” HERE)

Abstinence Gets a Boost: Trump Announces Huge Change to Obama-Era Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program

By The Daily Wire. The federal Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (TPPP) that was established in 2010 by the Obama Administration is undergoing massive changes toward abstinence education, the Trump Administration announced on Friday. The program doles out funding to schools and individual communities to combat teen pregnancy with “comprehensive sex-education.”

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Obama-era program has been ineffective at best.

The omnibus spending bill funded TPPP with $108 million for fiscal year 2018, but in an effort to effectively reduce teen pregnancy and advance sexual health, such grants will now be attached to abstinence-focused education per the administration . . .

An August press release from the HHS claimed that the Obama-era program negatively affected teen behavior and was a waste of taxpayer dollars. “Overall, of the 37 funded and evaluated projects, 73% either had no impact or had a negative impact on teen behavior, with some teens more likely to begin having sex, to engage in unprotected sex, or to become pregnant. Very few positive results were sustained over time,” said the report. (Read more from “Abstinence Gets a Boost: Trump Announces Huge Change to Obama-Era Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program” HERE)

Trump Admin Announces Abstinence-Focused Overhaul of Teen Pregnancy Program

By The Hill. The Trump administration will shift federal funding aimed at reducing teen pregnancy rates to programs that teach abstinence.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced Friday the availability of grants through the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, (TPPP) a grant program created under former President Obama that funds organizations and programs working to reduce teen pregnancy rates.

Trump’s HHS announced, however, that unlike under the Obama administration, grants will be geared toward organizations that teach abstinence education to teens instead of the comprehensive sex ed approach the previous administration supported.

In a funding announcement released Friday, the administration announced two tiers of funds for the TPP program.

In the first, grantees would have to follow one of two abstinence programs to receive funding. (Read more from “Trump Admin Announces Abstinence-Focused Overhaul of Teen Pregnancy Program” HERE)

Drunken Off-Duty Firefighter Kills Pregnant 18-Year-Old, Unborn Baby in Crash

An 18-year-old pregnant woman was killed early Wednesday in a crash caused by an off-duty firefighter suspected of driving drunk, the Dallas Morning News reported, citing police.

Alyssa Pimentel, who was 8 months pregnant, was driving with her boyfriend, Isaiah Perez, 21, through a suburb of Dallas. As she merged onto traffic, another car rear-ended her, ejecting the two passengers from the vehicle.

Pimentel died at the scene and the baby was reportedly delivered at a hospital. The baby only survived for less than an hour, reports said. Her boyfriend was taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries . . .

Horace Shaw III, 45, a Dallas firefighter who was reportedly driving fast and under the influence of alcohol, police allege, according to the report. Shaw was arrested and faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter. Investigators were told Shaw had been drinking at a bar prior to the crash, police said.

Shaw and his passenger, another male, were hospitalized with injuries not considered life-threatening, the report said. The other passenger has not been identified. (Read more from “Drunken Off-Duty Firefighter Kills Pregnant 18-Year-Old, Unborn Baby in Crash” HERE)

Now It’s ‘Pregnant People,’ Not ‘Pregnant Women’

In a move that has created head-shaking across the United Kingdom, the government has insisted that the United Nations replace the term “pregnant women” in an official document with “pregnant people” to avoid offense.

The dispute arose because the nation’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office wanted to avoid excluding “transgender people who have given birth,” meaning women who “identify” as men.

The U.K. policy office was reviewing the U.N.’s International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which was signed by the U.K. in 1976, some 10 years after it was created.

One line in that document states the death penalty “shall not be carried out on pregnant women.” (Read more from “Now It’s ‘Pregnant People,’ Not ‘Pregnant Women'” HERE)

U.S. Birthrate, Fertility Drops Dramatically, Below Replacement Level

Women in the United States are having fewer babies than ever before — and much later in life, according to data released by National Center for Health Statistics.

Researchers found that the total number of births per 1,000 women between the ages of 15 and 44 dropped from 62.5 per 1,000 in the first quarter of 2016 to 61.5 per 1,000 in the first quatert of 2017.

That drop by one percentage point is too big of a decline to happen by chance, Brady Hamilton, an expert on fertility data, said to CNN.

But while birth rates for teenagers and those under the age of 30 declined to record lows, there was actually an increase in birth rates among women 30 or older . . .

Overall, the decrease in birth rates technically puts the United States population below replacement level, Hamilton said — “but not dramatically so.” (Read more from “U.S. Birthrate, Fertility Drops Dramatically, Below Replacement Level” HERE)

Deployed US Navy Has a Pregnancy Problem, and It’s Getting Worse

A record 16 out of 100 Navy women are reassigned from ships to shore duty due to pregnancy, according to data obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by the Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group.

That number is up 2 percent from 2015, representing hundreds more who have to cut their deployments short, taxing both their unit’s manpower, military budgets and combat readiness. Further, such increases cast a shadow over the lofty gender integration goals set by former President Barack Obama.

Overall, women unexpectedly leave their stations on Navy ships as much as 50 percent more frequently to return to land duty, according to documents obtained from the Navy. The statistics were compiled by the Navy Personnel Command at the request of TheDCNF, covering the period from January 2015 to September 2016.

The evacuation of pregnant women is costly for the Navy. Jude Eden, a nationally known author about women in the military who served in 2004 as a Marine deployed to Iraq, said a single transfer can cost the Navy up to $30,000 for each woman trained for a specific task, then evacuated from an active duty ship and sent to land. That figure translates into $115 million in expenses for 2016 alone . . .

“A pregnancy takes you out of action for about two years. And there’s no replacement,” said Elaine Donnelly, president of the Center for Military Readiness, a nonpartisan public policy organization. “So everybody else has to work all that harder,” adding that on small ships and on submarines, “you really have a potential crew disaster.” (Read more from “Deployed US Navy Has a Pregnancy Problem, and It’s Getting Worse” HERE)

The Miracle of Pregnancy and God’s Redeeming Love

It was not an easy Christmas that year. Several of us had experienced trauma in our families: divorce, estrangement, abandonment. I was grateful to be included in a small circle at my friend’s house for Christmas dinner, knowing it was a safe place to feel that not all was merry and bright.

Yet as we gathered around the table, there was a quiet joy. My friend’s mother prayed to bless the feast, closing with great thanksgiving for the baby growing inside her youngest (and unmarried) daughter, a sign of God’s favor and love for this hurting family.

Praise God for new life, she said.

I have another friend who, in similar circumstances, was told by her mother that her pregnancy itself was a sin. God help us, but there are many in the church who have a problem celebrating children outside of marriage, offering censure and shame instead.

Children are not sin. Every child, regardless of the circumstances of its birth, is a miracle orchestrated by God in His goodness.

When I think of both women in this story who faced unplanned pregnancies, and I see them now with their children, I am in awe of God’s goodness. Both would say that their children are gifts from the Father above, and both are thankful for the way He redeemed their broken hearts through miracles of new life. But it breaks my heart that only one birth was celebrated.

The church, especially, should be a place where unwed mothers are loved and welcome. As Christmas approaches and we remember Mary and Joseph being turned away from place after place, may we pray to welcome the pregnant and stranded in our families, churches and communities.

This is the very work that women like Amy Ford are championing. If you want to learn more, you should listen to this week’s episode of UpNext, where Gabrielle interviews Amy about her work with Embrace Grace, a ministry that helps churches connect with single pregnant women to support and love them. Amy’s mission is to see the church become “the first place a girl runs to with a pro-love movement.”

Amen. Listen below to learn more, and visit embracegrace.com for resources for your church.

Incredible: Mother Gives Birth on Side of the Highway

Photo Credit: AP A pregnant Utah woman driving herself to the hospital gave birth to a healthy, nearly 10-pound baby boy on the side of an interstate highway, police said.

Devi Mariah Ostler’s labor started Saturday before she got in the car, but soon became overwhelming and she called 911, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Jalaine Hawkes said.

On a recording of the call, Ostler is initially calm, telling the dispatcher that she’s on the freeway, but soon interrupts herself to say her water broke.

“I’m trying to get over into the other lane — I need to push!” she said. She told the dispatcher her name and described her car, then said: “The baby is coming!” . . .

Police Chief Jean Loveland from the nearby town of Willard and Utah Highway Patrol trooper Josh Carr sped to the spot. Less than a minute after their arrival, she gave birth to a 9.9-pound baby boy. Cars can be heard speeding by on the recording as the baby is born and wrapped in a sweat shirt. (Read more about the how the mother gives birth on the side of the highway HERE)
