Video: Ron Paul Likens Congress to ‘Drug Addicts Who Just Want Another Fix’

Homeschooling Movement May Be the Future of Freedom
/7 Comments/in Featured, Kathleen's Korner /by Dr. Susan BerryAfter 23 years of service in Congress, over a 36-year period, Ron Paul gave his farewell address to Congress. In his address, Paul delivered a sobering message to the nation:
It is self-evident that our freedoms have been severely limited and the apparent prosperity we still have, is nothing more than leftover wealth from a previous time. This fictitious wealth based on debt and benefits from a false trust in our currency and credit, will play havoc with our society when the bills come due. This means that the full consequence of our lost liberties is yet to be felt.
But that illusion is now ending. Reversing a downward spiral depends on accepting a new approach.
But, what could be a “new approach?” After all the post-election despair, do constitutional Americans still have the power and the control to move the country toward freedom? Congressman Paul’s response:
Expect the rapidly expanding homeschooling movement to play a significant role in the revolutionary reforms needed to build a free society with Constitutional protections. We cannot expect a Federal government controlled school system to provide the intellectual ammunition to combat the dangerous growth of government that threatens our liberties.
Since 1999, the number of children who are being homeschooled in the United States has increased by 75%. Though only 4% of all children in the country are educated at home, the number of primary school children whose parents choose homeschooling is growing seven times faster than the number of students enrolling in K-12 every year.

Ron Paul Republicans Win Closely Contested House Races
/0 Comments/in Featured, News /by W. James Antle IIITexas Republican Rep. Ron Paul will retire from Congress next year after serving for 12 terms, but several Republicans influenced by the iconic libertarian-leaning lawmaker will be arriving to take his place.
Thomas Massie won the race to replace retiring Kentucky Republican Rep. Geoff Davis, beating Democrat Bill Adkins by 20 percentage points. Massie, an ally of Paul’s son, Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul, raised nearly 10 times as much money as Adkins, according to the Lexington-Herald Leader.
Michigan Republican Rep. Justin Amash, who was already vying to be the House’s next “Dr. No” in his first term, was re-elected with 58 percent of the vote. Democrat Steve Pestka had hoped to win the votes of independents and moderate Republicans who might regard Amash as too extreme, but failed to gain traction against the 31-year-old congressman.
In a neighboring Michigan district, Ron Paul Republican Kerry Bentivolio was elected to the House seat formerly held by GOP Rep. Thaddeus McCotter. McCotter, who had failed to gather enough valid signatures to appear on the ballot, resigned from the House amid a petition scandal. Bentivolio beat Democrat Syed Taj.
Bentivolio spent four decades in the U.S. Army, but was painted by opponents as an eccentric. He raised reindeer and was an occasional Santa Claus. He was elected to Congress by a 7-point margin.

Chairman-Elect of Alaska Republican Party Launches “Alaska Talks Liberty” Today!
/2 Comments/in Alaska News, Updates /by News EditorRon Paul Refuses to Endorse Romney
/13 Comments/in Featured, News /by Javier DavidTexas Republican congressman Ron Paul pointedly refused to endorse his party’s presidential contender, Mitt Romney, arguing that neither he nor President Barack Obama would make necessary cuts to public spending that would avert a fiscal catastrophe.
“No,” the iconoclastic Libertarian bluntly told CNBC’s “Futures Now,” when asked about whether he was prepared to endorse Romney. He accused both the former Massachusetts governor and the president of being captive to similar interests.
“Both within the establishment where they need the Federal Reserve as lender of last resort to make sure that you take all the risk in the world,” Paul said. He linked the Fed — his favorite foil — and the Washington political establishment together as part of a “one party system” that refuses to make necessary but difficult choices to cut spending. “I’ve been in this business a long time and believe me there is essentially no difference from one administration to another no matter what the platforms,” said Paul, a former hopeful for the GOP nomination. “The foreign policy stays the same, the monetary policy stays the same, there’s no proposal for any real cuts and both parties support it.”

Paul Ryan’s Message to Ron Paul
/4 Comments/in Featured, News /by Jeff Poor
Texas Rep. Ron Paul stopped short of endorsing the Mitt Romney-Paul Ryan presidential ticket during his event on Sunday night, but Ryan has a message for Paul and his libertarian supporters.
In an interview that aired on the Fox News Channel, host Bret Baier asked Ryan to address Paul.
“We see eye to eye on a lot of issues,” Ryan said. “We believe in sound money. We believe in economic freedom. We believe in the founding principles. We believe this is a watersheds moment for America, whether we are going to reclaim the American idea or a cradle-to-grave welfare state which is where I think the president is taking us. So, I think in the final analysis Ron, he and his supporters should be comfortable with us.”
“Ron is a friend of mine,” Ryan added.
“I have known him a long time in Congress.”
