The Latest Russia Collusion ‘Bombshells’ Are Big, Fat Duds

A recent blitz of “bombshell” headlines initially appear to show there might actually have been some collusion between the 2016 Trump presidential campaign and Russia. First, there was The Guardian claiming that Paul “Manaford” (oops, the source meant Manafort) met with Julian Assange of WikiLeaks in spring 2016, with the obvious implication that it was done to plan or coordinate WikiLeak’s Hillary Clinton email dump.

Mollie Hemingway ably pointed out holes in the story by mentioning, among other issues, that Manafort would have entered the Ecuadorian embassy to meet Assange in the heart of London, which is blanketed by the most robust network of video cameras in the world. There would be video and it would have leaked. It hasn’t.

Margot Cleveland followed up with a nice article showing that The Guardian’s anonymous sourcing doesn’t pass muster against on-the-record denials from both Assange and Manafort, especially in light of the pattern of the media’s several false starts with other competing collusion theories.

We can now add NBC News, which just published a very misleading piece that incorrectly appears to be another “smoking gun” gotcha of Russia collusion. The first sentence reads, “Two months before WikiLeaks released emails stolen from the Clinton campaign, right-wing conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi sent an email to former Trump campaign advisor Roger Stone anticipating the document dump.” . . .

On July 21, 2016, Heavy reported that Assange would release the new emails as part of “a series,” which strongly suggests Assange planned to time the releases for maximum effect in the presidential election. On July 27, 2016, The New York Times noted that Assange was timing his email releases for maximum political damage, releasing one batch for the Democratic National Convention. Following the July, 2016 release of documents, Assange publicly announced that his website might have “a lot more material” relevant to the U.S. electoral campaign. Trump Admits Russia Collusion Is Completely Real, but Not in the Way You’d Expect

Almost from the moment he shockingly defeated failed Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, many on the left have insisted — with no substantial evidence — that President Donald Trump “colluded” and conspired with the Russian government to “steal” the election away from its rightful winner, Clinton.

Trump has of course denied such a thing ever occurred and has consistently pushed back on the incessant liberal media narrative of such and the Robert Mueller special counsel probe that is investigating the liberal conspiracy theory, and did so again with a couple of tweets on Monday, according to Newsmax.

The tweets from Trump, which cited quotes from conservative pundit Dan Bongino, acknowledged the existence of actual Russian collusion as being “very real,” but asserted the collusion was “100%” on the part of Clinton and the Democrats, not his own campaign.

Trump tweeted, “’Collusion with Russia was very real. Hillary Clinton and her team 100% colluded with the Russians, and so did Adam Schiff who is on tape trying to collude with what he thought was Russians to obtain compromising material on DJT. We also know that Hillary Clinton paid through….”

Surprising Poll Reveals How Americans Truly Feel About So-Called Russian Collusion

By The Federalist. An overwhelming majority of Americans don’t think the ongoing probe into whether Donald Trump’s campaign colluded with Russian officials to steal the presidency from Hillary Clinton is that important, according to a new Gallup poll.

A record-breaking number of Americans (22 percent) think immigration is the most important problem facing the United States, while 19 percent say dissatisfaction with the U.S. government is the biggest problem and 7 percent think racism is the most important issue.

A combined total of 16 percent of Americans list unifying the country, lack of respect for one another, and the economy in general as the most important issues. The other issues that make it to the top of the list are health care (according to 3 percent of Americans), and ethics and morality (according to another 3 percent of those surveyed).

The ongoing probe to investigate to what extent Russia was involved in Trump’s electoral victory in 2016 was nowhere on the list of the top eight issues most Americans (70 percent) say are the most important ones the United States is facing.

Of the Republican voters surveyed, 35 percent thought immigration was the most important issue. Of Independent voters, immigration topped the charts, but a much smaller plurality (22 percent) said this was the most important issue. Trump-Russia: FBI Believed Carter Page ‘Collaborated and Conspired’ With Moscow

By The Guardian. The Trump administration has released documents related to the surveillance of former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, as part of an investigation into whether he colluded with Russia to undermine the 2016 US presidential election.

A surveillance application filed by the FBI in October 2016, a month before the election, said: “The FBI believes that Page has been collaborating and conspiring with the Russian government.”

Page has consistently denied working as an agent of the Russia and has not been charged with any crime after almost two years of investigation.

In an interview with CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, he reiterated his denials and described the FBI’s application to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance (Fisa) court as “so ridiculous it’s beyond words”. He accused law enforcement of misleading the court.

“I’ve never been an agent of a foreign power by any stretch of the imagination,” he said. (Read more from “Trump-Russia: FBI Believed Carter Page ‘Collaborated and Conspired’ With Moscow” HERE)
