Man Nearly Killed by Swarm of Otters in Singapore

. . .A British man in Singapore said he was attacked by a swarm of otters while on a recent morning walk, an incident that left him with approximately 26 bites and puncture wounds.

“I didn’t move quick enough and they just jumped me and they [were] on me and severely bit my ankle, made me buckle, and they jumped on my bottom and pushed me,” said Graham George Spencer, a British resident of Singapore in his 60s.

Spencer was finishing up his daily 6 a.m. walk with his friend when he spotted a group of “brown objects” on the path ahead, he said. The sun had barely risen, and Spencer had forgotten his glasses, making it difficult to discern what they were.

Upon approaching the creatures, Spencer believed it was a family of 20 otters, with pups in tow. At that same time, a runner sped by and startled the otters, after which the animals focused on Spencer and “went crazy,” he said.

The otters reportedly attacked Spencer for about 10 seconds before his friend started hollering and scaring the animals off, allowing Spencer to run away from the scene with otters in tow. They reached a nearby visitor center, where Spencer received medical support, and he was later escorted to the local hospital , where he received treatment. Police Arrest Man at Airport for Buying Boarding Pass Just to Say Bye to His Wife

A man was arrested at Changi Airport in Singapore last week for buying a boarding pass — with no intention to board the plane.

The 27-year-old had purchased a boarding pass just so he could enter the transit area — a “protected place” — to say goodbye to his wife, the Singapore Police Force said. . .

The transit area of the Changi Airport falls under the category of “protected places” — areas where “special measures are needed to control the movement and conduct of persons for public safety and security reasons.”

Those who enter Changi’s transit area “with no intention to proceed to their next destinations” can be prosecuted and fined up to $20,000 and imprisoned for up to two years, officials said.

The Changi Airport is one of the busiest — and most famous — airports in the world with a record 65.6 million passengers in 2018. According to Travel + Leisure, it has a butterfly garden, movie theater, swimming pool and even includes the world’s biggest indoor waterfall. Singapore’s Richest Man Reveals ‘Missing Piece’ of Life: Relationship With Jesus Christ

The wealthiest billionaire in Singapore said he values his relationship with Jesus Christ more than anything else after years of searching.

Philip Ng and his brother, Robert, are worth $12.1 billion for their control of Far East Organization, Singapore’s largest private landlord and property developer, according to Forbes.

I had an intimate conversation with my mentor, Philip Ng, recently, which I feel the need to share with you in such a time as this. – I asked Uncle Philip to share a piece of advice for my friends & followers, something he wished he knew when he was younger. Being the #RichestMan in Singapore and amassing a fortune of more than $12 BILLION USD (topping the @Forbes list for the 9th year in a row), trust me, he has some #clout. – With movies like #CrazyRichAsians glorifying wealth, exuberance & excess and #Hollywood media polluting our minds with B.S, we are all too easily sidetracked and too easily derailed from the #truth and what is important in this life. – But the truth is, we are all BROKEN people and we all have a missing piece in us. We try to fill that missing piece in the pursuit of power, money, popularity, sex, alcohol, drugs, achievement or success, and among other things as well. Uncle Philip, myself, and a lot of great men & women in history (think Lincoln, Washington, Ford, Rockefeller, Carnegie, MLK, Churchill, Helen Keller, Mother Teresa) have come to the same conclusion that THERE IS MORE to this life than just these temporary things, as fleeting as these pleasures may be. That missing piece, my friends, is #JesusChrist. – People ask me how I went from where I was at age 15, getting arrested by police and kicked out of school to where I am today at age 19 – being an up & coming entrepreneur and learning from the world’s greatest #CaptainsOfIndustry. This is how. God can change anyone. He can take you to places you never thought you would go. He can make things possible even when EVERYONE is against you. People talk man, people hate, but it’s all noise. Don’t listen to them. This is my answer to you, my friends. This is the way to lasting fulfilment, peace, love & joy. – REMEMBER: Get rich. Build that company. Become successful. Change the world. But don’t lose your soul in the process. – #forbeslist #billionaire #wealthmatters #mentor #onlylove #billionaireclub #remarkablelife – You know someone who needs to see this. “What I’ve discovered is that all of us are broken,” Ng said in a video posted last year by Matthew Yao on Instagram. “We all have a missing piece, and for me, I discovered that the missing piece was God through Jesus Christ.” . . .

“I was always in search for a better life, a better purpose, a better me, a better everything. I was just looking at all the wrong things, but when I realized there is no better me or better things without Jesus,” Ng said. “Then it all snapped into place. Maybe we have to look deeper. I treasure (my faith) more than anything so I just wish for everyone to have that peace and joy. It sure beats a lot of money and material things that you may have.”

Yao pointed out, in his post on social media, movies like “Crazy Rich Asians,” which largely takes place in Singapore, “glorifying wealth, exuberance, and excess and Hollywood media polluting our minds with B.S., we are too easily sidetracked and too easily derailed from the truth and what is important in this life.” (Read more from “Singapore’s Richest Man Reveals ‘Missing Piece’ in His Life: Relationship With Jesus Christ” HERE)

Photo Credit: Todd BingerShortly after midnight Tuesday, seven people were caught trespassing at the Quabbin Reservoir.

State Police say the five men and two women are from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore, and “cited their education and career interests” for being in the area. The men told police they were chemical engineers and recent college graduates.

The Quabbin, in Belchertown, is one of the country’s largest man-made public water supplies. Boston’s drinking water comes from the Quabbin and the Wachusett Reservoirs.

America’s Economic Freedom Ranking Nosedives to No. 18 in the World Due to Obama’s Policies

Canada has taken its place among the Top 5 countries with the most economic freedom, according to a new Fraser Institute report — now leaps and bounds ahead of the United States thanks to the gradual shrinking of the Canadian government since the mid-1990s as America’s just got bigger.

The annual Economic Freedom of the World report, released Tuesday, has Canada tied in fifth place with Australia — up one spot from last year. Hong Kong remains at the top, Singapore’s next, then New Zealand.

Meanwhile, the United States, once a “standard bearer” of economic liberty among industrial nations, spiralled 10 spots from the 2011 rankings to 18th place — its lowest position ever, and a huge drop from its second place spot in 2000.

And as the size of Canada’s government continues to slightly shrink due to slowed growth in government spending post-recession and America’s continues to expand, this indicator could eventually make us the industrialized world’s new leader on economic freedom, said Fraser Institute president Niels Veldhuis.

“What we have in front of us is a marked opportunity,” he said. “We can significantly exceed the U.S. in economic freedom over the course of, I would say, the next five to 10 years. The question for Canadians is are we going to seize the opportunity or are we going to let the opportunity go by?’’
