Alaska TV Stars Sentenced to Jail Time

Billy Bush, of “Alaskan Bush people,” and one of his sons Joshua “Bam Bam” Brown were both sentenced to 30 days in jail for lying on Permanent Fund dividend applications on Monday, according to the Alaska Dispatch News.

The father son duo pled guilty to one count of second-degree unsworn falsification, which is a misdemeanor. They both star in Discovery’s show “Alaskan Bush People,” however the network told FOX411 the show will not be canceled.

As a part of their plea deal, the two must pay back the dividends they got, give up their rights to ever get a dividend again and complete 40 hours of community service work.

The Brown family called into the hearing on Monday, as Billy Bush said he was in California. Billy Brown’s attorney, James McGowan, argued against jail time for the 61-year-old, referencing his medical conditions, which he said includes seizures and trouble with his kidneys.

“Mr. Brown [is] not the first person to come before the court with significant medical problems,” Juneau Superior Court Judge Philip Pallenberg said, according to the Alaska Dispatch News. (Read more from “Alaska TV Stars Sentenced to Jail Time” HERE)

TV Legend Gives These Strong Opinions About American Life

Legendary TV producer Norman Lear stopped by the Televisison Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills to promote an upcoming PBS documentary covering his career that’s set to debut next year. But what seemed to most impress reporters was the 93-year-old’s opinionated tangents, covering politics, TV, America and mindfullness. Below are six highlights from a press conference with the creator of hits like All in the Family, The Jeffersons and One Day at a Time:

— On politics: “Everybody knows me to be a progressive or a liberal or lefty or whatever. I think of myself as a bleeding-heart conservative. You will not f— with my Bill of Rights, my Constitution, my guarantees of political justice for all. But does my heart bleed for those who need help and aren’t getting the justice that the country promises them and the equal opportunity the country promises? Yes. I’m a bleeding heart, but I think myself to be a total social conservative. The people who are running just don’t seem to have America on their minds, not the America I think about. When I was a kid we were in love with America. As early as I can remember, there was a civics class in my public school. And I was in love with those things that guaranteed freedom before I learned that there were people who hated me because I was Jewish. I had a Bill of Rights and a Constitution, those words out of the Declaration that protected me. And I knew about that because we had civics in class. We don’t have that much in the country anymore. So before World War II or shortly after, we were in love with America because we understood what it was about and that’s what we were in love with. I believe everybody’s patriotic today. Everybody loves America. But I don’t need their flag plans to prove it. I’d like to go back to civics lessons.”

— On waking up: “I want to wake up feeling as I usually do, loving the day. The title of my book is Even This I Get to Experience, and that’s the way I basically look at life moment to moment. And now I’m looking out at you. I was 93 on Monday. So it took me 93 [years] and five days to get here. It took you every split second of each of your lives to get here for me. So I’m way ahead of you. It took all your lives to get here, so this moment is the moment. Even this we get to experience.”

— On the Golden Age of television: “I think this is the Golden Age. I understand what the Golden Age was when I was coming into television, and it was those years of Playhouse 90 and Philco Playhouse. But there’s great drama and some great comedy on television today. I can’t see it all.”

Geraldo Nearly Comes to Blows With Co-Host Over Immigration: ‘I’d Knock You out Right Now!’ [+video]

Fireworks were flying on “The Five” Monday – and things got personal.

A immigration debate among Geraldo Rivera, Jesse Watters and Eric Bolling got so heated that Geraldo at one point seemed to actually threaten physical violence.

“You’re lucky you’re my friend,” he told Bolling. “I’d knock you out right now!”

What set Geraldo off started with Watters, who said the recent rise of GOP contender Donald Trump was due to an untapped anger among Americans over crime by illegal aliens.

When Bolling supported Watters, Geraldo accused them both of blowing things out of proportion. (Read more from “Geraldo Nearly Comes to Blows With Co-Host Over Immigration: ‘I’d Knock You out Right Now!'” HERE)

Has the Twilight Zone Episode “The Obsolete Man” (Almost) Come True?

“Imagine, if you will, a time and place where there is no history because there are no books. There is no religion because there is no Bible. But even before the Bible was eliminated, God was disproven and banned from worship or mention. The only thing that exists is The State, run by a small group of elites who rule and judge according to their own beliefs, or lack thereof…”

Rod Serling wrote about this type of world in a 1961 episode of The Twilight Zone called, “The Obsolete Man“–and the similarities with today’s world are stunning.

The story, similar to Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, takes place in a future totalitarian America. ‘Romney Wordsworth’ (played by Burgess Meredith) is on trial for the crime of being obsolete, unworthy of life. His occupation, a librarian, is considered a crime punishable by death, as is his belief in God. He is being prosecuted by the Chancellor, who deems that Wordsworth is not an asset to the State and thus needs to be eliminated.

The opening, narrated by Rod Serling:

You walk into this room at your own risk, because it leads to the future; not a future that will be, but one that might be. This is not a new world: It is simply an extension of what began in the old one. It has patterned itself after every dictator who has ever planted the ripping imprint of a boot on the pages of history since the beginning of time. It has refinements, technological advancements, and a more sophisticated approach to the destruction of human freedom. But like every one of the super states that preceded it, it has one iron rule: Logic is an enemy, and truth is a menace. (Camera switches to the convicted man) This is Mr. Romney Wordsworth, in his last forty-eight hours on Earth. He’s a citizen of the State, but will soon have to be eliminated, because he’s built out of flesh and because he has a mind. Mr. Romney Wordsworth, who will draw his last breaths in the Twilight Zone.

TV Land Pulls Dukes of Hazzard Episodes Amid Confederate Flag Uproar

TV Land has pulled reruns of Dukes of Hazzard in light of the recent uproar over the Confederate flag, which is emblazoned on the roof of the show’s iconic General Lee 1969 Dodge Charger, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The show has faced criticism over the depiction of the controversial flag in the wake of the June 17 shooting in Charleston, S.C., that left nine dead, and what many viewed as South Carolina’s delayed decision to take the flag down.

Confederate merchandise has since been dropped by Walmart, Target, Amazon and other businesses after the shooting, which took place at a historic black church.

Shortly after the attack, photos surfaced showing alleged shooter Dylann Roof burning one American flag and stepping on another, while waving and posing provocatively with Confederate banners.

In a recent interview with THR, Dukes of Hazzard star John Schneider defended the series’ use of the flag. “Labeling anyone who has the flag a ‘racist’ seems unfair to those who are clearly ‘never meanin’ no harm,'” he said. His co-star Ben Jones has also come out in defense of the flag, saying it represents the “indomitable spirit of independence.” (Read more from “TV Land Pulls Dukes of Hazzard Episodes Amid Confederate Flag Uproar” HERE)

The View Is About to Get Cancelled for the Best Reason Ever

Looks like it’s the beginning of the end for Rosie & Whoopi. ABC is considering abandoning “The View” and extending Good Morning America as the yelling matches have been insufferable to audiences all across the country. Looks like the yelling matches and the blasphemous arguments that mock Jesus & the bible are over!

It’s been reported that ratings have plunged due to Rosie & Whoopi’s back and forth bickering, and not only that, but viewers have been complaining that even when they aren’t bickering to each other, they hi-jack interviewers as well.

The long-running show could end after this season. It appears that not only are Goldberg & Rosie created a bad vibe on set for show, but it has spilled over to the back end of things. Behind the scenes, producers say that it is pulling teeth working around them, and it doesn’t seem to be getting better at all. Another View on Whether “The View” is Really Getting Canceled

By Tierney McAfee. Mornings just wouldn’t be the same without our favorite female co-hosts. So is ABC considering canceling The View?

“Absolutely not an option at this time,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Advertising money and respect for Barbara Walters would not have this happen any time soon. The View is an institution and they will retool it and come back stronger then ever.”

. . .And one other thing is certain, too — co-host Whoopi Goldberg is definitely not losing her spot at the table!

“Whoopi is the anchor of the show and she is going to be around for quite a while,” our source promises. “Whoopi isn’t going anywhere!”

TMZ reported on June 26 that Sherri — and most likely Jenny — were fired from The View. (Read more from this story HERE)

The Important Message Sent by the Depraved Crimes Depicted in Game of Thrones and Outlander

In the last couple of weeks one of cable television’s most popular shows have featured a smorgasbord of shocking violence.

Heiress to Winterfell Lady Sansa Stark is brutally raped on her wedding night.

Preteen Princess Shireen is lashed to a stake and burned alive — by her father, Stannis Baratheon.

Highlander Jamie Fraser is viciously tortured and then raped by Captain “Black” Jack Randall.

The outcry from each fictionalized incident was as predictable as it was pathetic.

Not because the depictions weren’t shocking and cruel: they were.

Where is the anger for the very real, very depraved actions that are occurring not in some mythical setting but on our planet, now?

In today’s Middle East, crimes against humanity are occurring on a daily basis with nary a murmur from Hollywood, the Democrat establishment, the feminists, the progressive movement, or their millions of sycophants.

In the ongoing Muslim civil war, children are crucified on a regular basis.

Girls as young as eight years old are routinely raped and sold as sex slaves in open markets.

Other children are buried alive.

An estimated 30 million human beings around the world are currently living in slavery.

In its ongoing civil war, Syria employs chemical weapons on a routine basis. The death toll from the Syrian conflict alone is approaching a quarter of a million. Another four million Syrians have fled the warzone and are living as refugees.

The left may be capable of marshalling a Twitter campaign in a show of short-lived, faux outrage (remember last year’s #BringBackOurGirls?), but when it comes to real action they are AWOL.

So the faux outrage over Hollywood’s treatment of Sansa Stark and company rings hollow.

Truth is indeed stranger than fiction.

And for the left, fiction is more real than truth. (See “The Important Message Sent by the Depraved Crimes Depicted in Game of Thrones and Outlander”, originally posted HERE)
