Trump and Beto Face off in Texas; Trump TAUNTS Failed Senate Candidate

By NBC News. President Donald Trump and Beto O’Rourke faced off less than half a mile — but worlds apart — from each other on Monday night.

“A young man who’s got very little going for himself except he’s got a great first name, he challenged us,” the president told supporters, dubbing the crowd size at a nearby event headlined by the former El Paso congressman and possible 2020 Democratic presidential candidate “not too good”: “What I would say is, that may be the end of his presidential bid.” . . .

“We probably have some good news,” Trump told the crowd. “But who knows? …Just so you know, we are building the wall anyway.” . . .

He spoke soon after O’Rourke called El Paso “one of the safest cities in the United States of America…safe, not because of walls — but in spite of walls.”

“Walls do not save lives. They end lives,” he said at the “March for Truth: Stop the Wall, Stop the Lies” rally a short drive from Trump’s. (Read more from “Trump and Beto Face off in Texas; Trump TAUNTS Failed Senate Candidate” HERE)

Trump Taunts Beto: My Line Is Bigger Than Your ‘Tiny Little Line’

By Daily Wire. President Donald Trump taunted failed Democratic Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke on Monday evening over the expected crowd turnout that is expected at his rally on the Texas border.

“We have a line that is very long already, I’m mean you see what’s going on,” Trump told reporters before boarding Air Force One and flying to Texas where he will hold a rally in El Paso. “And I understand our competitor’s got a line too, but it’s a tiny little line. Of course (the media) make it sound like they have more people than we do. That’s not going to happen.”

“But we’re going there for a reason,” Trump continued. “We’re going there to keep our country safe. And we don’t want murderers and drug dealers and gang members, MS-13, and some of the worst people in the world coming into our country.”

“Now, Mexico has had the worst year they’ve ever had,” Trump noted. “Almost 40,000 killings in Mexico this year. One of the most unsafe places, unfortunately. We need a wall. And all of the other things are nice to have. But without a wall, it’s not going to work. We can have technology, we can have beautiful drones flying all over the place, but it doesn’t work without the wall.” (Read more from “Trump Taunts Beto: My Line Is Bigger Than Your ‘Tiny Little Line'” HERE)

Texas Court Halts Execution for Man Who Murdered 13 Month-Old in Horrific ‘Exorcism’ Ritual — Here’s Why

A Texas Court of Criminal Appeals halted the execution scheduled Tuesday of a man who was convicted in 2010 of murdering a 13 month-old child in an exorcism ritual.

Blaine Milam was sentenced to death for the gruesome murder of Amora Carson, his girlfriend’s 13 month-old child, in 2008 in East Texas. He later said that he believed the infant was possessed by demons and that he needed to commit an exorcism ritual to save her.

The court issued the stay of execution on the basis that bite-mark evidence had been discredited since the original conviction, and that new laws about the treatment of mentally impaired felons applied in the case. . .

Milam and his girlfriend Jessica Carson contacted the police in December of 2008 and told them that they had come home to find the baby dead. When police arrived to their home, they found the deceased child brutally beaten with a hammer and with numerous bite-mark injuries. . .

When police confronted Carson about discrepancies between her story and Milam’s, she confessed that they had believed the baby was possessed, and that she died while they performed an exorcism. Carson claimed that the baby had hit herself with the hammer while under possession.

New Vaccine Could Cut Number of Alzheimer’s Cases in Half

A new Alzheimer’s vaccine developed by scientists at the University of Texas, Southwestern could conceivably cut the number of dementia cases in half.

Unlike a previous attempt that caused swelling in the brain when DNA was injected into the test mice’s muscles, the new vaccine was administered by injecting it superficially into the skin.

Alzheimer’s, which is expected to strike triple the number of people by 2050, cripples the brain as human beings age, as beta-amyloid proteins in the brain get stuck together and tau proteins start to tangle, both of which inhibit neural connections. The new vaccine, injected into the skin, triggers the skin cells to produce a three-molecule chain of beta-amyloid. The immune system is then catalyzed to produce antibodies to fight beta-amyloid; the antibodies also fight tau proteins.. This means the body anticipates the Alzheimer’s plaques and tangles before happen. . .

Dr. Roger Rosenberg, founding director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Center at University of Texas Southwestern, said the new vaccine “is the culmination of a decade of research that has repeatedly demonstrated that this vaccine can effectively and safely target in animal models what we think may cause Alzheimer’s disease.” He added, “I believe we’re getting close to testing this therapy in people.”

Study senior author Dr Doris Lambracht-Washington said: “If the onset of the disease could be delayed by even five years, that would be enormous for the patients and their families. The number of dementia cases could drop by half.” (Read more from “New Vaccine Could Cut Number of Alzheimer’s Cases in Half” HERE)

Former Navy SEAL Dan Crenshaw Wins Big in Texas

By The Daily Caller. Ret. Lt. Cmdr. and Republican candidate Dan Crenshaw defeated his Democratic challenger Todd Litton on Tuesday to win Texas’s 2nd Congressional District.

Despite consistently polling ahead of Litton by double digits, Democrats were optimistic the area would flip blue due to the rapidly changing demographics of Harris County. Ultimately, Crenshaw beat out Litton.

The district has been represented by Republican Rep. Ted Poe who announced his retirement in November 2017. Poe flipped the seat red when he first took office in 2005 and it has since been a GOP stronghold. Litton, a director of an education non-profit, announced his run for the seat prior to Poe’s retirement. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi showed her support for the Democrat by pledging $7,000 to his campaign.

Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL, served five deployments overseas — while on his third combat tour, he was hit by an IED blast during a mission in Afghanistan that destroyed in right eye and badly injured his left eye. After multiple surgeries, Crenshaw retained sight in his left eye and went on to deploy two more times, first to the Middle East, then to South Korea. Video: Democrat Staffers Appear to Make Plans to Mask Use of Campaign Funds for Honduran Migrants

On Thursday night, Project Veritas Action Fund released a blockbuster video that raises serious questions about the misuse of Beto O’Rourke campaign funds. In the latest installment in the Veritas election 2018 sting series, members of the Texas Democrat’s U.S. Senate campaign appear to be “covering up the true nature of spending of campaign funds and intentionally misreporting them. This violates the FEC’s rules against personal use and misreporting,” according to an attorney for Project Veritas Action Fund who reviewed the undercover footage.

The attorney added that the penalties for this crime include fines of up to $10,000 and up to five years of prison.

Staffers for O’Rourke’s campaign were caught on tape indicating that they used campaign funds to purchase food for migrant asylum seekers and conspired to falsely report those expenses to the Federal Elections Commission (FEC).

The video shows a man identified as O’Rourke campaign field manager Dominic Chacon organizing campaign staff to deliver supplies to members of the Honduran caravan, who he says have already arrived in the United States and claimed asylum.

“There’s, a, you know, that migrant caravan? A few of them got here already, and they’re dropping them off like really close to Missouri,” Chacon says. Prompted by the undercover Project Veritas journalist, Chacon clarifies that he’s speaking about the migrants from Honduras.

“She’s going to text me the address. Um, I’m going to go get some food right now. Like, just some stuff to drop off, ’cause they need food and blankets. … We got permission to give them some of these waters, so we’re going to take some of these waters too.”

“Don’t ever repeat this,” O’Rourke campaign field organizer AnaPaula Themann tells Chacon on tape. She goes on to explain how she could use campaign funds to pay for the supplies.

Themann: “Don’t ever repeat this and stuff, but, like, if we just say we’re buying food for some event, like the Halloween events …”

Chacon: “That’s not a horrible idea, but I didn’t hear anything. Umm, we can wait until tomorrow for that.”

Themann: “Well that’s exactly the food we need. And I will just mark it as … I do have dozens of block walkers.”

Chacon discusses using campaign prepaid credit cards to pay for food for the migrants.

“I think we can use that with those cards to buy some food [inaudible] — all that s**t can be totally masked like, oh, we just wanted a healthy breakfast,” he explains.

Later in the video, Themann raises a concern about campaign staff wearing “Beto stuff” and being identified as members of O’Rourke’s campaign while they distribute the supplies to the migrants. She says, “I don’t want it to make it seem like all of us are from [the O’Rourke campaign] … I just hope nobody that’s the wrong person finds out about this.”

Jody Casey, O’Rourke’s campaign manager, was aware that her campaign’s staff was aiding the migrants, according to Chacon. But she was unaware that they used a “prepaid card” to do so. Chacon describes receiving a text message from Casey explaining that she was “happy that we have a staff that, you know, gets it.” He added that “she doesn’t know we used the prepaid card, but it’s okay … she doesn’t need to know.”

Chacon also considers using campaign vans to pick up more migrants.

“We could probably get away with using the vans. … Nobody needs to know,” he says. “For me, I can ignore the rules and I’ll f**k it. I don’t mind breaking the rules.”

Later in the video, Project Veritas’ undercover journalist raises the issue of using “campaign resources” to help the migrants with Casey. “Don’t worry,” Casey says.

Another campaign field manager, Andrea Reyes, appears to reveal on video that she has text messages approving the use of campaign prepaid cards to buy food for migrants.

“Charity and helping your fellow man are things we applaud at Project Veritas Action,” Project Veritas Action president James O’Keefe says. “The problem is, you can’t break the law when you do it.” (For more from the author of “Video: Democrat Staffers Appear to Make Plans to Mask Use of Campaign Funds for Honduran Migrants” please click HERE)

Texas Dems Ask Noncitizens to Register to Vote, Send Applications With Citizenship Box Pre-Checked

The Texas Democratic Party asked non-citizens to register to vote, sending out applications to immigrants with the box citizenship already checked “Yes,” according to new complaints filed Thursday asking prosecutors to see what laws may have been broken.

The Public Interest Legal Foundation alerted district attorneys and the federal Justice Department to the pre-checked applications, and also included a signed affidavit from a man who said some of his relatives, who aren’t citizens, received the mailing.

“This is how the Texas Democratic Party is inviting foreign influence in an election in a federal election cycle,” said Logan Churchwell, spokesman for the PILF, a group that’s made its mark policing states’ voter registration practices.

The Texas secretary of state’s office said it, too, had gotten complaints both from immigrants and from relatives of dead people who said they got mailings asking them to register. . .

The PILF publicly released complaints it sent to Hidalgo and Starr counties asking for an investigation. The organization also provided copies of pre-marked voter applications and the affidavit from the man who said his non-citizen relatives received the mailing. Blue Wave Receding? TX GOP Wins Special Election in District Held by Democrats for 139 Years

Special elections aren’t the best gauges for predicting the results of an election year, but since the liberal media touted such wins as a harbinger for the GOP apocalypse, let’s pop the champagne for the clutch win in Texas last night. Republican Gov. Greg Abbott has to be happy. This special state Senate election saw a Republican win in a district that’s remained in Democratic hands for 139 years. The GOP wasn’t even supposed to be competitive in this race; they ended up winning it by 6 points. Oh, and Clinton carried this district in 2016 by 12 points. Needless to say, Democrats were a little shell-shocked (via San Antonio Express-News):

A retired game warden, [Pete] Flores defeated former state and U.S. Rep. Pete Gallego for the Senate District 19 seat after receiving backing from some of the state’s most prominent politicians, including Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and U.S. Sens John Cornyn and Ted Cruz.

“We conservatives are conservative in the way we make approaches. The gunfight’s not over until the last shot’s fired,” Flores told the Express-News after Gallego conceded in a phone call just before 9 p.m. “The last shot’s been fired.”

According the Secretary of State’s website, Flores won with 53 percent of the vote to Gallego’s 47 percent with 44,487 ballots cast.

Flores and Gallego competed in Tuesday’s runoff after emerging from an eight-candidate field in first- and second-place, respectively, in July’s special election to replace former Sen. Carlos Uresti. The longtime lawmaker vacated his seat in June after being convicted of 11 felony charges.

Texas Police Search for Mystery Woman Recorded Ringing Doorbell in Only a T-Shirt and What Appears to Be Restraints

A neighborhood in Texas has been consumed with mystery after a security camera recorded a barefoot woman wearing only a T-shirt and what appears to be wrist shackles frantically ringing the doorbell of a home in the early hours of the morning.

The incident, which occurred after 3 a.m. on Friday, was captured by a doorbell cam recently installed at a home in the Sunrise Ranch subdivision, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The unidentified woman, seeming somewhat panicked, appears suddenly out the bushes and rings the bell a few times before the seconds-long clip cuts out.

The home’s resident later reviewed the footage from a private security system and passed it along to authorities, who are now working to find and identify the woman, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Another homeowner in the area, who did not wish to be identified, said her doorbell rang at least 20 times Friday night, prompting her husband to make his way downstairs and to their front door. . .

Since authorities shared the footage — which was also published on the neighborhood’s Facebook page over the weekend — they’ve received numerous tips suggesting the woman could be a missing person in various cases, some of them as far away as Canada, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Lt. Scott Spencer told the Chronicle. (Read more from “Texas Police Search for Mystery Woman Recorded Ringing Doorbell in Only a T-Shirt and What Appears to Be Restraints” HERE)
