Did Tim Scott Just Destroy His VP Shot With This Latest Double-Down on Mike Pence?

President Trump reportedly has a very short veep list, and at the top is Senator Tim Scott—a politician who has never truly embraced the America First, Make America Great Again movement. He’s tried to ride the fence, offering occasional support here and there—he’s not downright awful, but his support always feels conditional and without any real passion or purpose. So, the question now is, did Tim Scott just disqualify himself as a possible VP with his latest appearance on ABC News? Many say yes and hope this marks the end of the tiresome “Scott hype.”

So, what happened? Well, Tim Scott is doing what he does best—being a wishy-washy establishment shill. Truthfully, being a member of the GOP swamp is all he knows, and no amount of backtracking or sidestepping now will change that. So, when Tim went on ABC News and stood by his statement that traitor and turncoat Mike Pence did the right thing by certifying a stolen 2020 election, nobody should be surprised. This is who Tim Scott is—he’s the black, male version of Nikki Haley. His alliances are with the establishment, and any act suggesting otherwise is as fake as a three-dollar bill.

Again, this shouldn’t shock anyone. Tim Scott has had some bright moments, but overall, he’s been an establishment dud since he first splashed onto the scene. We actually wrote a piece about him last year that rings truer today than ever.

Revolver:

President Trump has delivered his first endorsement since his political reemergence at CPAC, backing Tim Scott’s Senate reelection. Scott’s race is still nearly two years away; he isn’t expected to face a major primary challenge, and the race itself is unlikely to be close unless Republicans are having a seriously bad year.

Ugly: White Democratic Official Uses Racial Slur Against Tim Scott

The effectiveness of Sen. Tim Scott’s GOP response to President Biden’s speech last week has been made clear by the volume of left-wing vitriol it has provoked. As we mentioned in our post last week, a nasty slur trended on Twitter in the hours following Scott’s address, and multiple white celebrities took it upon themselves to lecture Scott for not thinking the way he’s “supposed to” as a Black man. Two of these white celebrities were “The View’s” Joy Behar, and Democratic spokesperson and part-time comedian Jimmy Kimmel:

. . .In addition to the social media venom from a mob of blue checkmarks and random users, a Democratic official in Texas is under fire for deploying a slur against Scott, suggesting that he’s black on the outside but white on the inside – an incredibly racist statement. This bigot is very white:

A Texas Democratic official is facing calls to step down from his role after he called Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., a racial slur. “I had hoped that Scott might show some common sense, but it seems clear he is little more than an oreo with no real principles,” Lamar County Democratic Party chair Gary O’Connor wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post, referring to Scott’s rebuttal to President Biden’s Congressional address on Wednesday…The first-term [GOP] congressman called on O’Connor to “apologize and step down immediately” for his racially charged comments slur and asked the Texas Democratic Party and the NAACP “to condemn these words.” Fallon also said the party “should take swift action to censure him.” The Texas Democratic Party didn’t immediately return Fox News’ request for comment.

Senator Tim Scott Wasn’t Invited to Event Commemorating MLK March on Washington

Tim Scott Senator Tim Scott, R.-S.C., the only African American serving in the United States Senate, wasn’t invited to the event commemorating the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s march on Washington, though a host of Democratic luminaries spoke on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

“Senator Scott was not invited to speak at the event,” Greg Blair, a spokesman for the South Carolina lawmaker, said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. “The senator believes today is a day to remember the extraordinary accomplishments and sacrifices of Dr. King, Congressman John Lewis, and an entire generation of black leaders. Today’s anniversary should simply serve as an opportunity to reflect upon how their actions moved our country forward in a remarkable way.”

Wouldn’t it have made sense to have the first black president joined by the first black senator from South Carolina, which was a Jim Crow state when the original march on Washington took place?

Tim Scott Denounces Harry Reid’s Remarks on Race

Sen. Tim Scott, the U.S. Senate’s only black lawmaker, said Friday he is “disappointed” in Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s “offensive” comments about race made during a call-in radio show in Nevada.

Reid, a Democrat, said Friday he “seriously” hopes that Republicans are not blocking President Obama’s initiatives because he is black.

Reid was was responding to a caller who asked him if he believes Republicans are working to make President Obama a failure, which some Republicans had signaled they would do when he was first elected . . .

Reid paused, then added, “I say this seriously. I hope it’s based on substance, and not the fact that he is African American.”

Gov. Haley Picks Tim Scott to Replace DeMint

Rep. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) will be appointed the first African-American senator from South Carolina next year, Gov. Nikki Haley (R) announced Monday.

Haley’s selection of Scott, a Tea Party favorite, delighted conservative groups that had sought a strong conservative replacement for Sen. Jim DeMint (R), who is resigning in January to lead the Heritage Foundation.

“It is with great pleasure that I am announcing that I am appointing our next U.S. senator-to-be, Congressman Tim Scott,” Haley said at a press conference in Columbia, S.C.

Scott has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the GOP since being elected to the House in 2010, and was DeMint’s preferred choice to fill his seat, according to sources in South Carolina.

“I can walk away from the Senate knowing that someone is in this seat that is better than I am, that will carry that voice-of-opportunity conservatism to the whole country in a way that I couldn’t do,” DeMint said at the press conference.
