Claim: Turkish Forces Immediately Violated Ceasefire Agreement

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reported on Friday morning that Turkish forces violated the five-day ceasefire agreement announced on Thursday afternoon almost immediately, as Turkish-allied ground forces continued to attack the town of Ras al-Ain with Turkish air and artillery support.

“Despite the agreement to halt the fighting, air and artillery attacks continue to target the positions of fighters, civilian settlements, and the hospital in Serekaniye/Ras al-Ain,” said SDF spokesman Mustafa Bali, using both the Kurdish and Arabic names of the town. . .

The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights counted 7 civilians killed plus at least 21 injured by Turkish airstrikes and warned 38 injured people are trapped in an area under siege by Turkish proxies.

Organizers of a civilian relief convoy attempting to reach Ras al-Ain told Kurdistan24 News the attacking forces have cut off access to the town. They reported 30 injuries in the area from artillery fired by either the Turks or their allies from the Free Syrian Army.

Reuters journalists positioned near the Turkey-Syria border said they could hear machine-gun fire and artillery explosions from the vicinity of Ras al-Ain and saw plumes of smoke near the town, although they added the “sounds of fighting had subsided by mid-morning.” (Read more from “Claim: Turkish Forces Immediately Violated Ceasefire Agreement” HERE)

Why Is Erdogan Allowed to Fund Muslim Brotherhood Mosques in America?

Who would ever have thought we’d see a time when the media, Democrats, and establishment Republicans would suddenly mark Turkish president and de facto Muslim Brotherhood leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan as the most dangerous threat to the world? For once, I actually agree (mostly) with their feigned outrage, except that I’m truly outraged by Erdogan. If Republicans were smart, they’d call the Democrats’ bluff on their new anti-Erdogan crusade and ban his government from spreading poison on our soil.

If Erdogan is now the biggest threat to global security because of his actions in the Syrian civil war, then shouldn’t we be more concerned with his subversion activities in our own country by a factor of a million? Thus, Democrats most certainly would want to prevent Erdogan from radicalizing Muslims living in America and investigate the organizations with ties to his government, right?

On April 2, 2016, Erdogan officiated at the inauguration ceremony of the Diyanet Center of America (DCA), the largest mosque in North America, located in Lanham, Maryland. Some of the top leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood organizations were in attendance and pictured with Erdogan. Where does the name Diyanet come from? The mosque’s website states that it “works in full cooperation with the Religious Affairs Directorate of the Republic of Turkey (Diyanet).” In other words, it is Erdogan’s largest foothold in America, controlled through his religious affairs office. Erdogan spent $100 million on that mosque.

So, let’s get this straight: The Turkish government agency that doesn’t allow Christians and Jews to practice freely in Turkey is allowed to fund religion in America? The media practically wants to go to war with Erdogan, but doesn’t seem to be bothered by this.

Which scenario is more likely to cause the next 9/11 – a change in the Syrian civil war overseas or Erdogan funding radical anti-American sentiment in American mosques? To quote the 9/11 Commission report, “Terrorists cannot plan and carry out attacks in the United States if they are unable to enter the country.” It’s not the terrorist fighters in Syria locked in a multi-pronged civil war that threaten us; it’s those we bring into the country who are radicalized by people like Erdogan and the Muslim Brotherhood organizations he supports.

In 2016, Erdogan said of the DCA mosque complex that it “also has an important task for spreading Islam’s values embracing the whole of humanity, and our Prophet’s message of love and compassion.”

But what sort of Islamic values does Erdogan hold? He supports Hamas to the tune of several hundred million a year and is the global leader of the Muslim Brotherhood. Do you think for a minute that his mosques will be promoting an enlightened view of Islam? Or will they promote the Hamas view? In 2018, during a speech before his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP, Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi), Erdogan grabbed a sobbing six-year-old girl on stage and said, “Look what you see here! Girl, what are you doing here? We have our maroon berets here, but maroon berets never cry.” He then continued, “She has a Turkish flag in her pocket too. … If she’s martyred, they’ll lay a flag on her, God willing. She is ready for everything, isn’t she?”

Look no further than the 1991 Explanatory Memorandum of the Muslim Brotherhood to understand the goals of the reputed leader of that global movement:

The general strategic goal of the Group in America … is the “Enablement of Islam in North America, meaning: establishing an effective and stable Islamic Movement led by the Muslim Brotherhood which adopts Muslims’ causes domestically and globally, and which works to expand the observant Muslim base, aims at unifying and directing Muslims’ efforts, presents Islam as a civilization alternative, and supports the global Islamic State wherever it is.”

It’s no surprise that the Diyanet’s leadership boasted about meeting with Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., at CAIR’s annual community congressional reception this past January. Birds of a feather always flock together. It’s the Ilhan worldview that will be promoted in Erdogan’s mosques in our country.

As David L. Phillips, director of the Program on Peace-building and Rights at Columbia University’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights, warned at the time, “These mosques are not places of worship. They are centers for political mobilization functioning like madrasas, distorting [Islam] and radicalizing youth.”

Americans living here have the right to spend money on mosques just like they can on churches, but foreign governments have no constitutional right to fund religion on our soil, especially one regarded by our government as terror supporting.

Republicans would be smart to ban all Turkish funding of religion in America as well as designate the Muslim Brotherhood a terror group. Then dare the Democrats to oppose the bill. Countries like Russia, Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain have already designated them as terrorists.

How can Democrats feign concern over Erdogan and support groups like CAIR? Nihad Awad, CAIR’s executive director, posted a picture of himself on Twitter three years ago in Turkey promoting Erdogan after his brutal repression of the coup attempt.

Why do groups like CAIR get a pass for their support from Erdogan? Republicans will never find a better time to demand answers to these questions, as Democrats harness anti-Erdogan sentiment for their agenda of “orange man bad.”

It’s time for the Trump administration to leverage the feigned anti-Erdogan fervor into a relentless war against Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood on our own soil, which threatens us exponentially more than what happens in Syria. Pence Announces a Deal with Turkey for Cease-Fire in Syria

Quote source: https://www.c-span.org/video/?465417-1/vice-president-pence-announces-us-turkey-reach-ceasefire-agreement-syria

Vice President Mike Pence announced an agreement for a temporary ceasefire in Syria after meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“Today, I’m proud to report, thanks to the strong leadership of President Donald Trump and the strong relationship between President Erdogan and Turkey and the United States of America, that today the United States and Turkey have agreed to a cease-fire in Syria,” Pence said from the U.S. embassy in Ankara, Turkey.

Last week, the White House announced that the U.S. would pull troops out of an area near the northern Syrian border ahead of an anticipated Turkish offensive into the area. President Trump said it was “time for us to get out of these ridiculous Endless Wars, many of them tribal, and bring our soldiers home.” The move has drawn criticism from both Republicans and Democrats alike, particularly because of Turkey’s attacks on Kurdish forces in the area.

Pence explained Thursday that Turkey’s military would pause its military offensive in northern Syria for 120 hours in order to allow Kurdish militia forces to exit the roughly 20-mile-wide “safe zone” near the border. He also added that Turkey’s operation would be “halted entirely upon completion of the withdrawal.” Pence said that the administration has also begun to facilitate the withdrawal of Syrian forces from the area.

“Also Turkey and the United States agree on the priority of respecting vulnerable human life, human rights, and particularly the protection of religious and ethnic communities in the region,” Pence explained.

The news came just moments after a bipartisan group of U.S. senators in Washington, D.C., led by Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., announced new legislation imposing sanctions on Turkey over its actions in Syria. During his remarks from Ankara, Pence explained that the agreement stipulates that the United States would impose no new sanctions and would lift the sanctions currently imposed on Turkey once a permanent cease-fire takes effect after the “orderly withdrawal” of Kurdish militia forces from the contested area.

Graham told reporters said that while he’s “encouraged” by news of the cease-fire, he still plans to forge ahead on the sanctions legislation for now, in case Turkey doesn’t follow through on its end of the bargain.

President Trump took to Twitter to praise the cease-fire agreement, saying, “This deal could NEVER have been made 3 days ago. There needed to be some ‘tough’ love in order to get it done. Great for everybody. Proud of all!”

“This is a great day for civilization,” Trump added in a subsequent tweet. “I am proud of the United States for sticking by me in following a necessary, but somewhat unconventional, path. People have been trying to make this ‘Deal’ for many years. Millions of lives will be saved.” (For more from the author of “Pence Announces a Deal with Turkey for Cease-Fire in Syria” please click HERE)

Report: U.S. Bombs Own Headquarters in Syria; Senator Defends Trump’s Decision to Pull U.S. Troops (VIDEO)

By Daily Wire. On Wednesday, after Turkish forces moved toward them, the U.S. launched airstrikes to destroy the headquarters in Syria where the American campaign to destroy ISIS was located, according to U.S. officials who spoke to The Wall Street Journal. The base included warehouses where the Kurdish-led fighters fighting Turkey and ISIS were trained and quipped. The airstrike reputedly was launched to prevent Turkish forces from nearing the base.

The Journal noted that despite the assault on Kurdish forces from Turkey, President Trump on Wednesday would only say that the Turkish attack had “nothing to do with us.”

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Vice President Mike Pence flew to Turkey to meet with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and on Wednesday, the House of Representatives passed a bipartisan resolution opposing the withdrawal of U.S troops from Syria and leaving the Kurds open to an assault. . .

Kurdish fighters reportedly sought aid from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, prompting Trump to aver, “Syria is protecting the Kurds, that’s good. Syria may get help from Russia and that’s fine. … There’s a lot of sand to play with … I wish them all a lot of luck.” (Read more from “Report: U.S. Bombs Own Headquarters in Syria” HERE)

Rand Paul: Pulling U.S. Troops from Syria ‘May Be the Best Thing That Ever Happened to the Kurds’

By Daily Caller. Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul argued Wednesday that pulling the remaining U.S. troops from northern Syria “may be the best thing that ever happened to the Kurds.”

Paul’s comments came during a Wednesday interview on CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper” as Vice President Mike Pence travels to Turkey to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss a potential ceasefire to the country’s offensive against U.S.-allied Kurdish fighters.

“This was [President Donald Trump’s] decision. … It was the best thing not only for our troops, but it’s also the best way to adhere to the Constitution,” Paul said. “The Constitution says you don’t declare a war unless Congress votes on it, and who are we going to declare a war against — our ally, Turkey, the Free Syrian Army that used to be our ally, [Syrian President Bashar] Assad?”

Here’s the Letter That Trump Sent to Turkish President Erdogan

Fox Business’ Trish Regan snagged herself an exclusive copy of the letter that President Donald J. Trump sent Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on October 9, asking the NATO ally to not slaughter the Kurds unless he wanted to face dire economic consequences imposed by the Trump administration.

“Dear Mr. President, Let’s work out a deal! You don’t want to to be responsible for slaughtering thousands of people, and I don’t want to be responsible for destroying the Turkish economy — and I will. I’ve already given you a little sample with respect to Pastor Brunson,” the president said. Andrew Brunson was a captured American pastor held by the Turkish government. President Trump used a mixture of diplomacy and economic pressure to get him freed.

“I have worked hard to solve some of your problems. Don’t the world down. You can make a great deal,” the president continued.

“History will look upon you favorably if you get this done the right and humane way,” President Trump stated. It will look upon you forever as the devil if good things don’t happen.”

Turkey Holding 50 U.S. Nuclear Bombs ‘Hostage’

Officials are reviewing plans to evacuate up to 50 U.S. nuclear bombs that have long been stored at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey in the wake of Ankara’s military offensive in northern Syria, according to a report.

The weapons are now essentially “hostage” to Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a senior official told The New York Times on Monday.

The Cold War-era B61 nuclear bombs are said to be 100-250 miles from the Syrian border, according to The Guardian. A former U.S. official told the outlet that Turkish diplomats responded to suggestions about moving the bombs by saying Turkey would start to develop its own.

“The potential problems have been discussed for over a decade,” the former official said. “And now we’ve finally gotten to a point where this is a problem that we can’t ignore anymore.” . . .

Trump said Monday that U.S. troops in northeastern Syria will be withdrawn from the country as planned and redeployed “in the region to monitor the situation and prevent a repeat of 2014,” when the Islamic State terrorist group (ISIS) made major territorial gains.

ABC News Airs U.S. Gun Range Video, Calling It a Syrian War Zone — Twice

ABC News on Monday removed a video which the network presented as Turkish military forces attacking Kurdish fighters in northern Syria — amid reports that the footage may, in fact, be from a U.S. gun demonstration.

The footage, which ABC News purported was of an attack on the border town of Tal Abyad, was aired Sunday on World News Tonight and Good Morning America on Monday morning. However, a comparison by Gizmodo shows the video was captured at Knob Creek Gun Range in West Point, Kentucky back in 2017. . .

On Sunday, ABC News anchor Tom Llamas aired some of the footage, reporting that it showed “the situation rapidly spiraling out of control in northern Syria.”

“One week since President Trump ordered U.S. forces out of that region, effectively abandoning America’s allies in the fight against [ISIS],” Llamas framed the purported scoop.

“This video right here appearing to show Turkey’s military bombing Kurd civilians in a Syrian border town,” he went on. “The Kurds, who fought alongside the U.S. against ISIS. Now, horrific reports of atrocities committed by Turkish-backed fighters on those very allies.” (Read more from “ABC News Airs U.S. Gun Range Video, Calling It a Syrian War Zone — Twice” HERE)

Historian Unearths Evidence That Turkey Directed Armenian Genocide

Between 1914 and 1923, during and after World War I, hundreds of thousands of Armenians living in Turkey were systematically rounded up and murdered. Thousands more were forced to flee their homes. Some estimates put the death toll at more than 1.5 million.

Now, researchers say newly discovered documents suggest the Armenian genocide was both sanctioned and assisted by leaders of the Ottoman Empire in Istanbul. . .

His discovery suggests the genocide was indeed carried out on periphery, not by rogue agents and bandits, but by provincial governors. These governors were in communication with and assisted by leaders in Istanbul. . .

The evidence, a series of telegrams transcribed, decoded and signed by Turkish officials, was discovered among a slate of new documents released into the Ottoman archive, a collection of historical documents in Istanbul, organized by the government and made available to researchers.

The newly discovered letters feature the first unambiguous use of the terms “extermination” and “annihilation” by Ottoman officials, both among the provinces and in Istanbul. Analysis of the signatures confirmed several of the transcribed telegrams were authored by Bahaettin Şakir, head of the para-military Special Organization and one of the architects of the Armenian Genocide. Tensions Rising: Turkish President Accuses U.S. Of Meddling in Elections

On Friday, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the United States and the European Union of “meddling” in his country’s local elections.

Erdogan told reporters, “America and Europe are… meddling in Turkey’s internal affairs,” reported AFP, and that the U.S. and Europe should “know your place.” . . .

On Sunday, Erdogan’s party, the AKP, suffered a defeat in the mayoral race for Istanbul, the city in which Erdogan rose to power in as mayor. The AKP also lost control of Ankara, the capital city which has been held by the party for decades. Since the defeat, the AKP has contested the results in both cities, and a recount is currently taking place in districts of Istanbul, The Washington Post reported.

The results showed the mayoral candidate of the opposition CHP, Ekrem Imamoglu, ahead by about 25,000 votes in Istanbul, a city which has a population of about 15 million. But on Thursday, Ali Ihsan Yavuz, a deputy chairman of the AKP, reportedly said the recount had narrowed Yildrim’s lead to around 19,000. On Thursday, AKP secretary general Farih Sahin said the party would petition to Akara’s provincial election board for a recount in Akara as well.

In a Tuesday briefing, U.S. Department of State spokesman Robert Palladino reportedly commented on the results. “Free and fair elections are essential for any democracy,” Palladino said. “And this means acceptance of legitimate election results are essential.” (Read more from “Tensions Rising: Turkish President Accuses U.S. Of Meddling in Elections” HERE)

Turkey and U.S. Agree to 20-Mile ‘Safe Zone’

The United States and Turkey have reportedly agreed to the creation of a 20-mile-wide “safe zone” in Syria along the Turkish border. . .

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced during a speech to Parliament that his country and the United States had reached an agreement. According to Erdogan, the deal had been struck during a phone call between the two world leaders on Monday.

The full details of how this “safe zone” would work are still unclear. A number of Kurdish settlements, including the cities of Qamishli and Kobani, sit right in its path. Kurdish leaders have not yet said if they would be willing to leave these settlements in return for promises that Turkey would cease its attacks their settlements elsewhere in Syria. . .

Turkey has had trouble with a Kurdish militant group inside its own borders known as the PKK. While the U.S. considers the PKK to be a terrorist group, it differentiates between the PKK and other ethnically Kurdish groups — some of which have proven to be invaluable allies, particularly in the fight against ISIS.

Turkey makes no such distinction. Instead, it has used the instability caused by the now nearly eight-year-long Syrian civil war to launch a series of incursions against Kurdish cities in Syria. (Read more from “Turkey and U.S. Agree to 20-Mile ‘Safe Zone'” HERE)
