As part of an investigation into former President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, the Biden Justice Department is seizing communications between the former mayor and a journalist investigating President Joe Biden’s business dealings with Ukraine.
Agents from the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office and the FBI raided the New York residence of Giuliani early Wednesday morning. The investigation stems from at least a two-year-old probe into potential crimes of federal lobbying laws. Federal investigators seized Giuliani’s electronic devices.
The warrant presented, however, according to Giuliani’s lawyer, Robert Costello, raises questions surrounding the scope and motivation behind the investigation, where prosecutors began issuing subpoenas around the same time of Trump’s first impeachment inquiry launched by Democrats centered on conduct in Ukraine in 2019.
According to the Wall Street Journal, “Costello said the warrant sought communications between Mr. Giuliani and individuals including John Solomon, a columnist who was in communication with Mr. Giuliani about his effort to push for Ukrainian investigations of President Biden before he was elected.” (Read more from “DOJ Targets Journalist Investigating the Biden Family” HERE)

By Washington Examiner. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden insisted during the final presidential debate on Thursday that his handling of Ukraine policy during the Obama administration was above par. He even went so far as to say that everyone who testified against President Trump during the House’s impeachment hearing approved of his work in Ukraine, despite the fact that his son, Hunter Biden, sat on the board of the top Ukrainian oil company at the time.
This is not true. The State Department raised concerns about Joe Biden’s handling of Ukraine policy back in 2015, when Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent said Hunter Biden’s seat on the Burisma board “looks terrible” for the Obama administration. Kent expanded on this during Trump’s impeachment hearing, noting that he warned the White House “that there was the possibility of a perception of a conflict of interest” when he first heard about Hunter Biden’s business dealings. But when he raised these concerns to Joe Biden’s office, he was told the vice president didn’t have the “bandwidth” to deal with Hunter Biden. Trump, Biden Clash Over Hunter Biden Business Questions at Final Presidential Debate
By Fox News. President Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden clashed over alleged foreign financial entanglements in the final presidential debate on Thursday night.
At one point, Trump told Biden, “You owe an explanation to the American people” about son Hunter Biden’s past business dealings as the former vice president emphatically denied anything “unethical” took place.
The two candidates also clashed over a number of issues, from race relations to minimum wage to climate change and the coronavirus pandemic, all while moderator Kristen Welker proceeded over a largely orderly affair between the bitter rivals.
The Hunter Biden debate exchange followed the recent news reports of past communications between Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, and his business partners that have raised questions about what Joe Biden knew about these foreign business dealings. Biden’s campaign has denied involvement or making money off these dealings, but the president pressed his rival over the reports during the debate.
“All of the emails … the horrible emails of the kind of money that you were raking in, you and your family. And Joe, you were vice president when some of this was happening. And it should’ve never happened,” Trump said. “I think you owe an explanation to the American people.” (Read more from “Trump, Biden Clash Over Hunter Biden Business Questions at Final Presidential Debate” HERE)

Facebook’s global policy manager for content regulation, Anna Makanju, advised Joe Biden on Ukraine policy during his time as Vice President. She also defended Biden from charges of wrongdoing with regards to Ukraine in a comment to the Washington Post last year.
Her position as a senior employee at Facebook handling content regulation may have given her an opportunity to influence the social network’s decision to suppress a New York Post story revealing that Joe Biden’s son Hunter, then on a lucrative contract with the Ukrainian energy giant Burisma, introduced the then-Vice President to an executive at the company.
This occurred less than a year before the then-VP pressured the Ukrainian government into firing a prosecutor who was investigating the company.
Makanju is also a fellow at the Atlantic Council, which partnered with Facebook in 2018 to promote “election integrity” around the world. . .
A 2019 article in the Washington Post notes that Makanju — now in an influential position allowing her to steer Facebook’s content moderation — also specifically defended Biden, her former employer, from allegations of wrongdoing with regards to Ukraine. The Biden campaign called yet another press “lid” Wednesday morning following a bombshell report showing that former Vice President Joe Biden may have lied about meeting with an executive from Ukraine energy firm, Burisma Holdings, in 2015. . .
Feeling the heat, Biden campaign spokesman Andrew Bates hit back at the report in a statement, saying, “We have reviewed Joe Biden’s official schedules from the time and no meeting, as alleged by the New York Post, ever took place.”
But a prepared statement from the campaign is not quite the same as a candidate responding to reporter’s questions. Unfortunately, at least for the remainder of the day, press will be unable to get a direct response from Biden himself on the matter.
Daily Mail reporter Nikki Schwab posted part of a press release on Twitter late Wednesday morning, showing that while the Biden campaign had called a lid, the candidate would still be participating in a fundraiser later in the day.
“The Biden campaign has called a lid. Later this afternoon, Biden will participate in a virtual fundraiser. Your pooler will send a report at its conclusion,” the release said. “At 7 p.m., Biden is delivering pre-taped remarks to American Muslims at the Muslims Making Change: National Honors event. Those remarks are open press.”

Burisma Holdings, the eastern European natural gas conglomerate that once had Hunter Biden on its board of directors, is being accused of attempting to bribe Ukrainian officials with more than $5 million in order to end a corruption probe into the company.
Ukrainian law enforcement officials announced on Saturday at a press conference in Kyiv that they had seized more than $5 million in what is alleged to be a bribery scheme perpetrated to benefit Mykola Zlochevsky, Burisma’s founder.
According to Ukrainian officials, three suspects, who all have ties to Zlochvesky, attempted to bribe anti-corruption officials investigating the Burisma and its founder for embezzlement. Burisma, thus far, has denied any part in the scheme.
Nazar Kholodnytsky, the head of Ukraine’s national anti-corruption bureau, claimed the alleged scheme had no connection with either Hunter Biden or his father, the presumptive Democrat nominee. . .
Last month, the Senate Homeland Security Committee voted to subpoena Blue Star Strategies, a Washington, D.C. based public relations firm once employed by Burisma to help fight allegations of public corruption. In May 2019, the New York Times reported that Hunter Biden was linked to Burisma’s hiring the firm. By New York Post. Leaked phone conversations between Joe Biden and then-Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko have been made public by a Ukrainian lawmaker.
Edited recordings of the calls were played at a news conference Tuesday in Kiev by Andriy Derkach, who has claimed he has proof showing that Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian natural gas company that employed Biden’s son Hunter Biden, paid then-Vice President Joe Biden $900,000 in lobbying fees. . .
Derkach said he received the leaked audio from “investigative journalists” — and that the recordings were made by Poroshenko himself. . .
“It’s going to be critical for him to work quickly to repair the damage that Shokin did,” Biden said in the call. “And I’m a man of my word. And now that the new prosecutor general is in place, we’re ready to move forward to signing that new $1 billion loan guarantee.” . . .
Biden’s campaign responded to the release of the recording, claiming it was part of an ongoing effort by the Russians to hurt Biden. (Read more from “Recording of Calls Between Joe Biden, Ex-Ukraine President Leaked” HERE)
Zelensky Seeks Probe Over Leaked Audio of Biden Linking U.S. Aid to Ukraine Prosecutor’s Ouster
By Fox News. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for an investigation Wednesday of leaked recordings purportedly depicting then-Vice President Joe Biden telling Zelensky’s predecessor Petro Poroshenko that his country would receive U.S. aid once top prosecutor Viktor Shokin was replaced.
The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee already has acknowledged such an arrangement publicly. But the leaked audio revived criticism that Biden was engaged in a kind of quid-pro-quo, much like President Trump was accused — during impeachment proceedings — of linking U.S. aid to calls for Zelensky to probe Shokin’s ouster.
The new audio indicates Poroshenko went along with Biden’s plan but did not think Shokin was involved in wrongdoing.
Shokin purportedly has said under oath that he had launched a probe concerning Hunter Biden’s role at Ukrainian energy firm Burisma Holdings when he was ousted. Hunter Biden held a lucrative post there, despite limited expertise, while his father handled Ukrainian policy as vice president. At the least, Ukrainian prosecutors had previously been investigating Burisma’s founder. Biden’s defenders have argued his intervention had nothing to do with Burisma and was focused on corruption concerns.
Zelensky said at a news conference in Ukraine that the contents of the leaked conversations, however, “might be perceived, qualified as high treason,” according to The Washington Post. Ukrainian prosecutors have said they are looking into sweeping “international corruption.” Zelensky has tried to maintain good relations with the Trump administration, even as his 2019 discussions were at the core of the U.S. president’s impeachment. President Trump has fired Michael Atkinson, the inspector general for the U.S. intelligence community who alerted Congress to concerns about a Trump phone call with the president of Ukraine – a matter that led to the president’s impeachment last year.
Trump formally notified the intelligence committees of both the Senate and House in a letter dated Friday. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., posted the letter online.
Trump’s dead of night decision to fire ICIG Michael Atkinson is another blatant attempt to gut the independence of the Intelligence Community and retaliate against those who dare to expose presidential wrongdoing.
“This is to advise that I am exercising my power as President to remove from office the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community, effective 30 days from today,” the president wrote.
“It is extremely important that we promote the economy, efficiency, and the effectiveness of Federal programs and activities. The Inspectors General have a critical role in the achievement of these goals,” the president continued. “As is the case with regard to other positions where I, as President, have the power of appointment, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, it is vital that I have the fullest confidence in the appointees serving as Inspectors General. That is no longer the case with regard to this Inspector General.”
The president added he would nominate a replacement “who has my full confidence and who meets the appropriate qualifications,” at a later time. (Read more from “Trump Fires Intelligence IG Who Told Congress About Ukraine Phone Call” HERE)

Hunter Biden was on the board of a trade coalition that lobbied the Obama administration in 2014 on foreign assistance to Ukraine, and appears to have set up a State Department meeting for the group’s president.
Biden’s links to the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) and its affiliate, the Center for U.S. Global Leadership, have gone largely unreported in the coverage of his various business dealings, which have caused a headache for his father as he runs for president.
The Bidens have been dogged by allegations that the younger Biden profited off of his last name. Similar allegations have followed organizations like Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings, which brought Hunter Biden on as a director in April 2014, despite his having no experience in the energy industry.
USGLC, which lobbies and advocates for increased spending in the State Department’s International Affairs Budget, added a series of Ukraine-related bills to its lobbying portfolio at around the same time, lobbying disclosures show. . .
Other directors have included executives and lobbyists from Caterpillar, Cargill, Walmart, Intel, Chevron, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Think tanks such as the Bipartisan Policy Center and the American Enterprise Institute are represented on the group’s boards, as are officials with well-known NGOs like Save the Children and CARE, the anti-poverty group. House Democrats on Friday released text messages that shed new light on a possible surveillance campaign against Marie Yovanovitch when she served as ambassador to Ukraine.
The documents are screenshots of messages on the encrypted platform WhatsApp exchanged between Robert Hyde, a Republican congressional candidate, and an individual he identified Friday as Anthony de Caluwe.
The messages show that the man Hyde identified as de Caluwe appeared to provide updates in March 2019 on Yovanovitch’s activities in Ukraine.
Hyde emerged Wednesday as the latest player in the Ukraine saga when Democrats released a batch of documents messages supplied by Lev Parnas, a Soviet-born businessman who worked closely with Rudy Giuliani to collecting information about Yovanovitch. . .
According to messages released on Wednesday, Hyde told Parnas in a March 23, 2019 text that “private security” was monitoring Yovanovitch. (Read more from “Texts From a Mysterious Belgian Number Shed Light on Possible Surveillance of Ambassador to Ukraine” HERE)

Joe diGenova told Breitbart News that his wife, Victoria Toensing, and Rudy Giuliani were both blocked from obtaining visas to visit Ukraine due to pressure from the American embassy in Ukraine. He joined Thursday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow.
Marlow asked, “Joe, is it true that you’ve been travelling internationally to kind of investigate some of this stuff and to investigate some of the general corruption that you think is happening?”
DeGenova replied, “My wife, Victoria Toensing, was asked by Rudy Giuliani to represent some Ukrainian public officials and private individuals who had information about attempts to frame Donald Trump and Paul Manafort. Those efforts were underway to go interview those people overseas in Ukraine, but because of the resistance of the American embassy, the American embassy threatened the Ukrainian government not to grant visas to Rudy and my wife Victoria, and of course the trip never happened. There was no trip. There were no interviews conducted over there.”
