The U.S. Embassy in Guatemala has issued a security alert warning Americans to use “increased caution” when in the Central American country.
“The U.S. Embassy has lifted the shelter-in-place order for their staff,” says the alert, which was issued Sunday. “The situation remains tense with coordinated, armed attacks on police in several zones of Guatemala City.”
The Embassy recommends that Americans monitor local media for updates, avoid crowds and demonstrations, and aim to keep a “low profile.”
Travelers are advised to review personal security plans and minimize unnecessary movements.

A dual U.S.-German citizen allegedly intended to bomb the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, and he faces years behind bars and a hefty fine if convicted, authorities said Sunday.
Joseph Neumeyer, born in Colorado, approached the embassy May 19 while carrying a dark-colored backpack and spat at an embassy guard near the employee entrance of the diplomatic building, according to a criminal complaint by the FBI. Neumeyer swore at the guard and managed to escape arrest, but he left behind his backpack. In it, the guard found at least one Molotov cocktail, the complaint alleged.
Law enforcement agents tracked him to a nearby hotel, where they arrested him after he identified himself and allegedly suggested that his backpack contained Molotov cocktail bottles. Hours before the incident, Neumeyer allegedly posted on a Facebook account — that the FBI said was his — messages such as “Join me this afternoon in Tel Aviv- we are burning down the US embassy” and “Join me as I burn down the embassy in Tel Aviv. Death to America, death to Americans, and f— the west,” screenshots in the criminal complaint show.
More than once in March, Neumeyer allegedly posted death threats to the same Facebook account against U.S. President Donald Trump and Department of Government Efficiency leader Elon Musk, more screenshots in the complaint show. Neumeyer departed the U.S. for Canada sometime in February and traveled to Israel on or around May 19, the FBI alleged. The U.S. embassy in Russia is warning dual citizens to leave the country or run the risk of being drafted into the Kremlin’s mobilization effort to wage its invasion of Ukraine.
“On September 21, the Russian government began a mobilization of its citizens to the armed forces in support of its invasion of Ukraine,” the embassy said Tuesday in a security alert. “Russia may refuse to acknowledge dual nationals’ U.S. citizenship, deny their access to U.S. consular assistance, prevent their departure from Russia, and conscript dual nationals for military service.” . . .

A former staff member at the US Embassy in Mexico allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted at least 23 women over the past decade, federal investigators say.
Brian Jeffrey Raymond, 44, is being investigated after photos and video footage of the reported encounters were uncovered from a bedroom in his Mexico City apartment, according to court documents obtained by the Daily Beast.
The pictures and video showed several women who were unconscious and a man waving their limp arms and legs, holding open their eyelids and even putting his fingers in their mouth, in an apparent attempt to demonstrate they are unconscious. A number of them also show a nude Raymond, while others reportedly show him aroused. . .
Raymond has “exerted power and control over unconscious women,” according to a court motion. The United States Embassy enjoyed its annual 4th of July celebration on Thursday, June 4, one month early, in order to respect the upcoming Ramadhan month, which will begin on June 17 and last for one month.
US Ambassador to Indonesia Robert O. Blake and US Ambassador to ASEAN Nina Hachigian presided over the festivities, which involved brass band renditions of the Star-Spangled Banner and the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya.
Blake explained that the theme of the event leaned toward “green” development, which supported the US’ focus on building and promoting a green economy and more environmentally sustainable development.
He also praised Indonesia’s performance as a fully functioning democracy, aiming for further collaboration between the two countries in the years to come.
“The US will continue to support Indonesia in the future through its democratic achievements. Democracy is an American value which we have championed since [the country’s birth in] 1776,” Blake told the crowd during the festivities at his residence near Taman Suropati, Central Jakarta, on Thursday. Move of July 4th Celebration a “Mind Boggling” Gesture of US Submission to Islam

In a mind-boggling gesture of official US Government dhimmitude, the US Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia celebrated our sacred Independence Day holiday on June 4, so as to avoid any conflict with the month-long Ramadan celebration. If you think any Islamic countries – there are 57 of them (not counting ISIS) that count themselves officially Islamic – will move their DC embassy’s celebration of Ramadan to accommodate our Independence holiday, I have some bridges to sell you. . .
Officially, embassies are the national territory* of the country being represented, not of the host country. So there is no need to accommodate local sensibilities in celebrating our most sacred national holiday. . .
It is a bedrock of Islamic scripture that infidels must bow down in submission to Islam and Muslims, being tolerated so long as they endure humiliations and pay a special tax. Muslims have no obligations at all to infidels, which is why you will never see an counterpart to the submission just demonstrated by the US Embassy in Jakarta.

An Islamist-allied militia group in control of Libya’s capital now guards the U.S. Embassy and its residential compound, a commander said Sunday, as onlookers toured the abandoned homes of diplomats who fled the country more than a month ago.
An Associated Press journalist saw holes left by small-arms and rocket fire dotting the residential compound, reminders of weeks of violence between rival militias over control of Tripoli that sparked the evacuation.
The breach of a deserted U.S. diplomatic post – including images of men earlier swimming in the compound’s algae-filled pools – likely will reinvigorate debate in the U.S. over its role in Libya, more than three years after supporting rebels who toppled dictator Moammar Gadhafi. It also comes just before the two-year anniversary of the slaying of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans in Libya.
A commander for the Dawn of Libya group, Moussa Abu-Zaqia, told the AP that his forces had been guarding the residential compound since last week, a day after it seized control of the capital and its international airport after weeks of fighting with a rival militia. Abu-Zaqia said the rival militia from Zintan was in the compound before his troops took it over.

Israel’s Shin Bet internal security agency cracked open an al-Qaeda plot, directed from the Gaza Strip, to carry out mega terror attacks in Israel against both US and Israeli targets, according to information the Shin Bet made available Wednesday.
Israel is holding three suspects in the plot, it added, but the key plotter is still at large. The trio were arrested three weeks ago, shortly before one or more of them were to travel to Syria for final planning of the operations, which were reportedly initiated on the direct orders of al-Qaeda head Ayman al-Zawahiri.
The planned attacks included twin suicide bombings, against the US Embassy in Tel Aviv and the main Israeli convention center in Jerusalem, where President Barack Obama gave the centerpiece speech of his Israel visit last March. Other planned attacks included targeting an Israeli bus and Jewish homes in East Jerusalem.
Iyad Abu-Sara, an Arab resident of East Jerusalem, was to be sent to Syria to gain expertise in the nuts and bolts of terror attacks. He would then facilitate the twin attacks, which were to be carried out by al-Qaeda operatives entering Israel with Russian paperwork, according to the Shin Bet. Abu-Sara is one of the trio now under arrest.

The U.S. Embassy in Kabul was hit by indirect fire before dawn on Christmas Day but no Americans were hurt, as attacks elsewhere in Afghanistan killed at least six people Wednesday, officials said.
Two rounds struck the sprawling embassy compound but it was not immediately clear which part of the complex, and a U.S. Embassy official said the incident was under investigation.
“At approximately 6:40 local time in Kabul, approximately two rounds of indirect fire impacted the U.S. Embassy compound,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations. “All Americans are accounted for and no injuries were sustained.”
Indirect fire can refer to either mortars or rockets.
The Taliban promptly claimed they fired four rockets at the American Embassy on Wednesday and said they inflicted heavy casualties. But the insurgents often exaggerate their claims.

Intelligence regarding al Qaeda plans to attack U.S. embassies, officials, and interests last Sunday was known for months by U.S. intelligence agencies but was used only recently to trigger the closure of embassies and issuance of public warnings of impending attacks.
Al Qaeda “chatter” about coming terrorist operations, mainly against 22 U.S. embassies and consulates, and threats to attack or bomb officials in the Middle East and elsewhere was widely reported in classified intelligence reports over several months. The report said an attack was planned for Sunday, although no attack was carried out.
The intelligence was based on electronic surveillance of al Qaeda communications indicating some type of spectacular bombing or other attacks was being planned and would in fact be carried out very soon.
The timing of the administration’s announced closure of numerous U.S. embassies in the Middle East has raised concerns among some U.S. officials that the Obama administration is politicizing intelligence to distract attention from the Benghazi and other scandals.
“Why is this coming out now?” asked one official with access to terrorist threat data. “Is the administration trying to suck up news coverage with the embassy threats to distract attention from what the CIA was doing in Benghazi?”
Intercepted communication between Al Qaeda leaders prompted terror warning, source says

The terror threat that led to the closure of nearly two-dozen U.S. embassies and consulates resulted from intercepted communications between the head of Al Qaeda and the leader of its Arabian Peninsula affiliate, a U.S. intelligence source tells Fox News.
The confirmation shows just how high the alleged threat goes in the terror network and is the most specific detail to emerge over the nature and origin of the threat. The source said the communications were intercepted between Ayman al-Zawahiri — who is Usama bin Laden’s successor — and Nasir al-Wuhayshi, head of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
Asked about the claim, officials with the CIA and Office of the Director of National Intelligence would not confirm the details of any such intercepted communications.
Earlier in the day, officials with the White House and State Department declined to provide further specifics about the nature of the threat. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney would say only that the threat potentially goes “beyond” the Arabian Peninsula.
Carney reiterated that officials view the threat, which also prompted a worldwide travel alert last week, as “significant.”
