Four Women Accuse Lesbian Running For Congress In Utah Of Unwanted Sexual Advances

Four women have now come forward to allege a Utah Democrat running for Congress made unwanted advances of a sexual nature.

Democrat Eva López Chávez is a Salt Lake city Councilwoman running in her party’s primary to represent the 1st congressional district in Utah. The accusations, including that she “restrained” the women while making unwanted sexual advances, allege the incidents occurred before López Chávez joined the city council in 2023. Three of the women who came forward currently hold elective office, including one who serves on the city council with Chavez, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

“If a man had done that to me, would there be a question if it was assault or not?” Democratic Salt Lake City Councilwoman Victoria Petro said to the Tribune. Petro said that López Chávez, an out lesbian who describes herself as a “queer Latina,” pushed her against a wall during a September 2022 party and told her, “The only reason I still f**k men is because a woman hasn’t shown me what I really want.”

Democratic Utah state Sen. Jen Plumb said she initially dismissed a November 2022 incident when López Chávez pushed her against a wall and asked if she was “sure” she wasn’t attracted to women. . .

Democratic Utah state Rep. Hoang Nguyen, who also runs a medical cannabis company and works in a investment group, recounted a 2022 incident in which she and López Chávez were departing from a campaign event for Plumb. López Chávez asked Nguyen for a ride to her car before asking Nguyen to pull over, the state lawmaker told the Tribune. Brother Of Trans Woman Who Murdered Parents Blames ‘Reckless’ Prescription Of Sex Change Hormones

A Utah woman received two consecutive sentences of 25 years to life in prison Friday after pleading guilty to murdering her parents, as her brother blamed what he called the reckless prescription of sex-change hormones.

Mia Bailey received two consecutive sentences of 25 years to life for the murders of her parents, Joseph Bailey, 70, and Gail Bailey, 69, according to a news release from the Washington County Attorney’s Office. The court added up to five years for aggravated assault stemming from the same attack.

Prosecutors said Bailey broke into her parents’ Washington City home on June 18, 2024, and shot her father twice in the head and her mother four times. After killing her parents, Bailey fired shots through her brother’s bedroom door while he and his wife barricaded themselves inside, according to prior reporting by KUTV.

Police arrested Bailey the following day and charged her with 11 felony counts tied to the double homicide and the attempted killing of her brother. She later pleaded guilty in November, admitting in court documents that she intentionally shot and killed her parents, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

Defense attorney Ryan Stout urged the judge to impose concurrent sentences, arguing Bailey had no criminal record and suffered from severe mental illness that left her functioning at the level of a young child. Court records listed diagnoses that included autism, psychosis, schizophrenia, ADHD and OCD, with possible bipolar disorder, The Salt Lake Tribune stated. Judge To Make Ruling On Alleged Charlie Kirk Shooter Tyler Robinson’s Civilian Clothes Request After Tense Closed-Door Hearing

A Utah judge will decide Monday if accused assassin Tyler Robinson can appear in civilian clothes during future court appearances after a tense legal battle ended in a closed-door hearing Friday afternoon.

Lawyers for the 22-year-old alleged killer and state prosecutors met privately before District Judge Tony Graf after a secret Monday motion sought to block the defense’s bid to let Robinson — charged with gunning down conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk — ditch his shackles and prison duds for a suit in court.

In the classified filing, reportedly co-authored by the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, prosecutors claimed the legal doc contained “secure information that might endanger personal and public safety if disclosed,” the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

On Tuesday, the defense pushed back, urging the judge to strike the state’s response, insisting it should come exclusively from the Utah County Attorney’s Office and not jointly filed with the sheriff’s office.

The state, in another filing Wednesday, argued that law enforcement has the legal right to respond to motions and that joint filings are “both appropriate and efficient,” noting that the sheriff’s office was specially asked to respond because it oversees court security, ABC 4 reported. Captured: Transgender Suspect Who Allegedly Gunned Down Parents in Utah

A transgender suspect who allegedly shot and killed his parents in Washington, Utah, Tuesday was captured Wednesday and has been charged with numerous felonies.

ABC 4 noted that the shooting suspect, originally named Collin Troy Bailey, now goes by Mia Bailey, and is “a transgender male transitioning to female.” . . .

While Bailey was still on the loose, Washington Police Department’s Lt. Kory Klotz warned that Bailey’s looks could change quickly, indicating that “wears wigs and is known to change hairstyles frequently.”

2 KUTV reported that law enforcement documents claimed Bailey told them, “She did not have remorse for her actions and that she would not change what she had done.” (Read more from “Captured: Transgender Suspect Who Allegedly Gunned Down Parents in Utah” HERE)

Airplane Loses Part in Mid-Flight, Makes Emergency U-Turn (VIDEO)

A Netherlands-bound Delta Air Lines airplane returned to Utah after losing an engine pylon panel during takeoff Sunday, according to reports.

The Airbus A330neo carrying 260 passengers and 13 crew members departed Salt Lake City for Amsterdam and had reached the Montana-North Dakota boundary before safely returning to Salt Lake City as one of the engine pylon panels had fallen off on takeoff, the Associated Press (AP) reported. It was not immediately clear how the pilots learned of the missing part, but Delta acknowledged there was “a reported mechanical issue” with the two-aisle Airbus jet, according to the report.

Delta reportedly apologized to the passengers for the delay caused by the incident.

The airplane had gained a cruising altitude of 35,000 ft (10,668 m) and had been in the air for just over an hour when it aborted its flight to Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, according to Simple Flying. The flight crew reportedly did not alert the passengers of the incident as the airplane turned around and made its way back to Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC).

The widebody jet reportedly has not flown since returning to SLC nearly three hours after takeoff. A similar Delta Air Lines Airbus jet replaced the affected jet and completed the flight to Amsterdam, according to Simple Flying. The substitute airplane was also scheduled to fly passengers from Schiphol Airport to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport, again replacing the affected airplane.

Utah No Longer Majority Mormon, New Research Suggests

Utah is no longer majority Mormon, a new paper published this month in the Journal of Religion and Demography estimates.

Since its inception, most of Utah’s residents have been members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Now, less than half (42 percent) identify as members, according to an ABC4 report on the research findings.

“That’s markedly lower than previous media reports citing the church’s numbers, which put the percentage of Mormons in Utah at around 60 percent as recently as 2020,” according to the report.

Lead author on the study and University of Tampa sociology professor Ryan T. Cragun told the outlet researchers were “not trying to say that the LDS church is wrong,” but were rather “using very different approaches to gather this information.”

Researchers surveyed roughly 1,900 Utahns in the summer of 2022 and asked a variety of questions, including about religion. They used a method called “quota sampling,” which means researchers had quotas for different demographics to align with official Utah census data. Biden Says He’s Traveled ‘Tens of Thousands of Miles’ Across War Zones

President Joe Biden claimed Thursday that he traveled “tens of thousands of miles” in war zones while speaking to veterans in Utah.

Biden made the comments during a three-day trip to Arizona, New Mexico and Utah to tout his policy accomplishments, during which he signed an order declaring a national monument around the Grand Canyon Tuesday, barring new uranium mining projects. “There is no difference between having a mental health problem and breaking your arm or your leg,” Biden said.

“No difference. And you should not be worried about, asking for help, any more than you would if you broke your leg. There‘s nothing to be ashamed of in seeking that help,” Biden continued. “Think about this: I don‘t know how many in my tens of thousands of miles that I‘ve traveled through war zones, I don‘t know anybody who would not wonder whether or not what these veterans have seen cause post-traumatic stress — its enormous. It‘s an enormous problem.” (Read more from “Biden Says He’s Traveled ‘Tens of Thousands of Miles’ Across War Zones” HERE)

China Influences Utah Lawmakers by Appealing to Mormonism: Report

A new investigative report published this week from the Associated Press found that China has been able to forge ties in Utah that have led to the communist nation scoring public relations and legislative victories in the state and from its lawmakers.

The report found that the Chinese “appealed” to the lawmaker’s ties to the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to win favor with them that they later used to score wins in a variety of areas, including delaying legislation that took action against Chinese propaganda, canceling resolutions that condemned China, and promoted false positive images of China. The report said the church has “long dreamed of expanding in China.”

“Utah is an important foothold,” said Frank Montoya Jr., a retired FBI counterintelligence agent who lives in the state. “If the Chinese can succeed in Salt Lake City, they can also make it in New York and elsewhere.”

Lawmakers delayed the closing of Chinese-funded Confucius Institutes, which are propaganda entities, at state universities by one year. (Read more from “China Influences Utah Lawmakers by Appealing to Mormonism: Report” HERE)

Man Shot Several Times by Police During Traffic Stop After Officers Allegedly See Gun (VIDEO)

A recent college graduate in Utah was shot several times by police during a traffic stop in early March after officers allegedly saw him reaching for a gun, body camera video shows.

Farmington, Utah, police department officers stopped 25-year-old Chase Allan after seeing an illegitimate license plate on the BMW car he was driving at 3:22 p.m. on March 1. Police Chief Eric Johnsen released body camera video relating to the incident on Wednesday.

When the police officer told Allan that he was being stopped because there was no registration on the car, Allan said, “I don’t need registration and I don’t answer questions.” The officer requested backup, and four other officers arrived at the scene. . .

The officer then asked Allan to step out of the car, and he replied “No, I am not required to.” . . .

One of the officers reached to pull Allan out of the car, and a separate officer yelled “gun, gun, gun!” Multiple officers can be seen in the body camera video then firing multiple shots at Allan. Police say that there was a holster under Allan’s jacket, and said that the “holster has flex movement” just before police began shooting.

Family Of 8 Found Dead In Utah Home In Apparent Murder-Suicide

An entire family in a small Utah town was found dead in their home Wednesday in a horrific apparent murder-suicide.

Officials in the small town of Enoch, Utah, said that the husband shot his wife, mother-in-law, and the couple’s five children, before turning the gun on himself. The family was found late Wednesday afternoon after police went to conduct a welfare check on the wife. According to news reports, the wife had served divorce papers to the husband last week.

According to Dotson, the wife had an appointment, which she missed. The person with whom she had the appointment called police to do a welfare check. “A few hours after that welfare check, a call came in and Tausha (the wife) was not located, a missing persons report was requested and was received by the Cedar City Police Department,” Dotson said. That report was then passed on to police in Enoch, “at which point the welfare check to locate Tausha became an effort to locate the entire family,” Dotson added.

City officials said no one had heard reports of gunshots or suspicious activity, but Enoch Mayor Geoffrey Chesnut, who was neighbors with the family, noted that the homes are on large lots, making it difficult to hear anything. “They’re half-acre lots, big homes on half-acre lots,” he said. “You don’t hear a lot coming from your neighbor’s homes.” (Read more from “Family of 8 Found Dead in Utah Home in Apparent Murder-Suicide” HERE)
