YMCA Scrubs Trans Guidance After Parent Group Uproar

The YMCA removed several webpages outlining policies that allow boys who identify as girls to access female cabins, showers and locker rooms following backlash from a national parent group.

The takedown came days after the American Parents Coalition published a warning to families Wednesday about YMCA summer camps permitting biological males into private spaces designated for girls. The now-removed materials — which were archived — included guidelines encouraging staff to affirm “gender identity” over sex and to withhold such information from parents.

“Parents deserve the truth — especially when it involves the possibility that their children could be put in a situation where they’re expected to share private spaces with members of the opposite sex,” said Alleigh Marré, executive director of the coalition.

Archived versions of the removed pages show the YMCA’s national body had issued guidance dating as far back as 2017 encouraging affiliates to give campers access to facilities based on self-declared gender identity. One page, titled “How to Creat ea Safe Space for LGBTQ+ Campers,” states that camp workers should “ensure all campers have access to the facilities aligned with their gender identity.”

Guidance from Camp Olson, a YMCA facility in Minnesota, advised against notifying families if their child decided to come out as transgender at the camp, stating that “an individual should not be outed without their permission … to other participants, staff, or their own families” — adding that biological sex “should not dictate the use of gendered space.” Other now-removed YMCA webpages included recommendations to feature transgender individuals in promotional material, partner with LGBT advocacy groups and read books like “George” — a novel about a boy who wants to be a girl — to children as young as four. YMCA Camp Added a New “All Gender” Cabin for Campers in Grade 3 and Up, but That’s Not All

. . .Sleep-away camp is diving even deeper into the culture wars this summer, so you better make sure you read all of the fine print before you sign up your children for overnight experiences. Especially at the YMCA.

In fact, YMCA Camp Hazen in Chester, Connecticut, announced that it will be adding an “all gender” cabin in all five of its camp villages this year in order to provide “housing for all” this summer.

The “All-Gender Cabin” serves campers whose identity may or may not fall into the male-female binary, including allies interested in living in an all-gender space and campers who “don’t want to be in a traditional ‘gendered’ cabin for any reason”.

Campers who request a cabin mate of a different gender (e.g., friend, sibling, cousin) or who have not felt safe in a specifically gendered space, or who “want to try something new” are welcome in the All Gender Cabin. . .

The traditional Boys and Girls cabins have been labeled as “Boys+” and “Girls+” cabins to make sure that all campers are included and feel a sense of belonging.

VIDEO: Grown Men Showering With Minor Girls — As Young as 5 Years Old — At California YMCA

A California teen cried as she recalled seeing “a naked man” in her local YMCA, telling the city council in her San Diego suburb she’d been traumatized by the experience with the person she described as a trans woman.

Rebecca Philips, 17, said she was changing after swimming one day last month at the Santee YMCA when she spotted a naked trans woman in the changing rooms.

“As I was showering after my workout I saw a naked male in the women’s locker room,’ she told the Santee City Council. “I immediately went back into the shower, terrified, and hid behind their flimsy excuse for a curtain until he was gone.”

Philips said the policy of allowing trans women in the female locker rooms should be changed — adding she was especially worried her 5-year-old sister could be exposed to naked trans women at the YMCA, the Daily Mail reported. . .

Woman, 80, Banned From City Pool for Refusing to Shower or Change in Front of a Man

She was startled by the voice of a man while she was in the shower.

Rinsing off after her usual laps at the Port Townsend, Washington community pool, Julie Jaman, a pillar of her community and mother of two adult daughters, heard a man talking.

Poking her head out of the plastic sheet between herself and the man, she saw him wearing a women’s swimsuit, supervising little girls as they stripped off their own swimsuits to pee.

“Do you have a penis?” She asked him.

Naive, unassuming, unversed in the new religion of Genderism, unaware that wokeness has quietly abolished all privacy rights for women and girls in Washington, Julie had unwittingly invoked the righteous wrath of a new American priest class. “None of your business,” the man replied. His name, she would later learn, is Clementine.

“You need to leave,” she said, thinking of herself as well as the girls.

Rowen DeLuna, a young female staffer, was nearby. Instead of defusing the situation, however, she immediately escalated it, accusing Julie of disrespecting YMCA values.

Moments later in the lobby, Julie was informed that that police were on the way to arrest her, presumably for proper reeducation in the new politics of “gender identity.”

She left instead, stopping at the town’s tiny police station next door to check in. It was only when she talked to the regional YMCA director on the phone later that day that Julie learned the staff had put words in her mouth: “You are going to use your penis to f**k those little girls.”

“I am an 80 year-old woman and I do not talk like that,” Julie responded. In retrospect, she says “there was something amiss in the integrity of the staff.” No charges have been filed against her.
