Mamdani’s Response to 7-Month-Old Shot Dead Sparks Firestorm Over What He Blames

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is facing criticism from local politicians and onlookers on social media over comments he made that critics say places blame on guns rather than criminals in an incident involving the shooting death of a 7-month-old child in Brooklyn.

“This is not our first family to know this pain,” Mamdani said in response to a 7-month-old baby girl, Kaori Patterson-Moore, who was killed by a stray bullet on Wednesday afternoon when a gunman on a moped opened fire on a Brooklyn street in a suspected gang-related incident.

“Too many children have never grown up into becoming adults. To parents who’ve had to bury those they love most. We cannot accept it as normal in our city. We cannot grow numb to this pain, and today is a devastating reminder of just how much more work there is to be done… to combat gun violence across the city.”

The clip, along with other comments by Mamdani, have sparked criticism from local politicians, experts and onlookers who say the mayor is blaming guns instead of criminals and implementing policies that embolden those criminals.

“Literally anything but blaming the criminals who our system releases onto our streets repeatedly, over and over again, with no consequences,” NYC Republican Councilwoman Vickie Paladino posted on X. “Absolute disgrace.”

‘Tax the Rich’ Chant Breaks Out as Bernie Sanders Swears In NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani

A raucous chant of “tax the rich” broke out as Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders blasted the wealthy and called out “hatred and divisiveness” before swearing in fellow democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani as New York City mayor.

“At a time in our country’s history when we are seeing too much hatred, too much divisiveness and too much injustice, thank you for electing Zohran Mamdani as your mayor,” Sanders said outside City Hall.

He then argued that Mamdani’s socialist agenda, including free buses and taxing the rich was not “radical,” sparking the chant.

After Sanders administered the ceremonial oath of office to Mamdani, the new mayor addressed the crowd, saying he planned to govern “expansively and audaciously.”

For too long, he argued, New York belonged to the “wealthy and well connected,” but no longer, Mamdani vowed. (Read more from “‘Tax the Rich’ Chant Breaks Out as Bernie Sanders Swears In NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani” HERE)

Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani Sworn In on Quran as NYC’s 112th Mayor

. . .A triumphant Zohran Mamdani took the oath of office to become the Big Apple’s mayor just moments into the New Year — kicking off an uncharted era with a proud socialist at the helm of the nation’s largest city.

The 34-year-old Queens state assemblyman was sworn in on a Quran as the city’s 112th mayor — and its second-youngest — by state Attorney General Letitia James on Thursday morning below City Hall Park in a grand, abandoned old subway stop with his wife, artist Rama Duwaji, by his side.

“This is truly the honor and the privilege of a lifetime,” Mamdani said after swearing to faithfully discharge his duties as mayor and paying the $9 filing fee in cash.

Mamdani also wished New Yorkers “both inside this tunnel and above” a happy New Year.

“I cannot wait to see everyone tomorrow as we begin our term,” he said. (Read more from “Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani Sworn In on Quran as NYC’s 112th Mayor” HERE)

Socialist Mayor-Elect Taps Armed Robbery Felon for Public Safety Role

Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has chosen a formerly incarcerated rapper to serve on his City Hall transition team as he prepares to take office in New York City Jan. 1, according to reports.

The controversial selection comes as Mamdani, who won November’s election on a progressive platform, assembles his transition team.

Mamdani’s appointment of Mysonne Linen, 49, was announced in a Nov. 26 Instagram post from Until Freedom, a New York City–based social-justice organization, where Linen is a leader.

Linen is featured in the social media post alongside Tamika Mallory and Angelo Pinto.

“We are proud that Until Freedom leaders have been chosen to serve on Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani’s transition team on committees for public safety and criminal justice respectively,” the post reads. (Read more from “Socialist Mayor-Elect Taps Armed Robbery Felon for Public Safety Role” HERE)

Zohran Mamdani Wants Social Workers Responding to 911 Calls — But Test Program Is Already Failing

Mayor-elect Zohram Mamdani wants to deploy social workers instead of police officers to respond to 911 calls — but the controversial plan has already been operating in the Big Apple and is failing.

The early results of a program dubbed B-HEARD spells trouble for Mamdani’s proposed $1.1 billion Department of Community Safety (DCS), a signature imitative that his newly announced chief of staff and left-hand woman Elle Bisgaard-Church helped craft.

B-HEARD launched in 2021 as a pilot program and only operates in some city neighborhoods, but a bleak audit conducted in May by the city comptroller found it was limping — with a whopping 60% of calls deemed ineligible while more than 35% of eligible calls from mental health professionals never got a response.

“Calls were considered potentially dangerous, were ineligible because a mental health professional was already at the scene, or were unable to be triaged because FDNY EMS did not take the call or all necessary information could not be collected about the person in distress,” the comptroller’s office wrote in a news release at the time.

Between fiscal years 2022 and 2024, the program received a total of 96,291 calls — 24,071 of those received a response from a “B-HEARD Team” which consists of two FDNY officers and EMTS, and one social worker. Jewish FDNY Commissioner Hands In Resignation Less than 12 Hours After Mamdani Win, Other Top Officials Expected to Follow Suit

FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker handed in his resignation on Wednesday, less than 12 hours after Democrat Socialist Zohran Mamdani was announced the winner of New York City’s mayoral election.

The fire chief tendered his resignation the morning after anti-Israel Zohran Mamdani was declared the mayor-elect of New York City, according to a report by New York Daily News.

On Wednesday morning, Tucker informed New York City Mayor Eric Adams that December 19 will be his last day as FDNY commissioner, according to an email obtained by the newspaper.

“Between now and then, I will continue to lead the greatest fire department in the world and will ensure an orderly transition,” Tucker said in his letter to Adams.

While Tucker’s reasons for resigning were not immediately made clear, an FDNY source told New York Daily News that the fire chief — a Jewish philanthropist and businessman — felt he wouldn’t mesh well with the incoming mayor and his team. Foreign Election Interference? UK Leftists Campaign For Mamdani In NYC Race

A member of the United Kingdom’s parliament announced Sunday that he was campaigning on behalf of socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

Independent Member of Parliament for Islington North Jeremy Corbyn posted on X that he was “hosting a phone bank” with the Democratic Socialists of America “to Get Out The Vote for” Mamdani.

“Let’s get Zohran over the finish line for a New York that’s affordable for all!” Corbyn posted on X.

The Federalist’s CEO and co-founder Sean Davis pointed out that Corbyn was engaging in “literal foreign election interference on behalf of a Ugandan Muslim who wants to ‘globalize the intifada’ in America’s largest city.”

Notably, Corbyn once decried President Donald Trump for allegedly interfering in Britain’s elections. (Read more from “Foreign Election Interference? UK Leftists Campaign For Mamdani In NYC Race” HERE)

JD Vance Slams Zohran Mamdani for Making ‘His Auntie’ the ‘Real Victim of 9/11’

Vice President JD Vance criticized New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani on Saturday, writing on X that according to the Democrat, “the real victim of 9/11” was his aunt.

Vance made the remark as early voting began Saturday in New York City, where Mamdani, the frontrunner in the race, is trying to fend off challengers Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa.

“I want to speak to the memory of my aunt. Who stopped taking the subway after September 11th because she did not feel safe in her hijab,” Mamdani said in a clip of a Friday campaign event that Vance shared.

“According to Zohran, the real victim of 9/11 was his auntie who got some (allegedly) bad looks,” Vance said.

Mamdani also said Friday that, “I want to speak to the Muslim who works for our city, whether they teach in our schools or walk the beat for the NYPD, New Yorkers who all make daily sacrifices for the city they call home, only to see their leaders spit in their face.” (Read more from “JD Vance Slams Zohran Mamdani for Making ‘His Auntie’ the ‘Real Victim of 9/11’” HERE)
