Miller Campaign Highlights Murkowski’s Outside Influence

Anchorage, Alaska. August 20, 2010 — The Murkowski campaign says, “Joe Miller and his outside groups criticize Lisa when she votes for Alaska….” According to Influence Explorer, 88% of Senator Murkowski’s funds are from out of state: 58% of her total contributions come from PAC money, with 42% from individuals for the years 2009-10. Only 12% of her money is from inside Alaska. Murkowski’s most recent FEC filing showed $1.9 million in PAC contributions.

Conversely, ninety-seven percent (97%) of the money contributed to Miller’s campaign came from individuals and only 3% from PACs contributions (SarahPAC). Eighty percent (80%) of individual contributions were $100 or less. The majority of the Miller campaign funds have come from Alaskans.

Miller campaign spokesman Randy DeSoto said, “Murkowski criticizes Joe for somehow not trying to prevent groups who are concerned about the path our nation is on from seeking to inform voters how their Senator has been voting in Washington. Then she turns around and takes millions in special interest PAC dollars, the vast majority of it from Outside. Alaskans should know Joe will be beholden to no one when he goes to Washington. His sole guiding light will be seeking to restore limited government and personal freedom.”
