Boy Scouts: over one hundred molesters repeatedly abused boys, moving from troop to troop

Internal documents from the Boy Scouts of America reveal more than 125 cases in which men suspected of molestation allegedly continued to abuse Scouts, despite a blacklist meant to protect boys from sexual predators.

A Los Angeles Times review (https://lat.ms/OT9zx5) of more than 1,200 files from 1970 to 1991 found suspected abusers regularly remained in the organization after officials were first presented with sexual misconduct allegations.

Predators moved from troop to troop because of clerical errors, computer glitches or the Scouts’ failure to check the blacklist, known as the “perversion files,” the newspaper said.

In at least 50 cases, the Scouts expelled suspected abusers, only to discover they had re-entered the organization and were accused of molesting again.

In other cases, officials failed to document reports of abuse in the first place, letting offenders stay in the program until new allegations came to light, the Times reported.

Tea Party Republicans sketch out Internet policy

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), the son of libertarian Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul, visited the conservative Heritage Foundation on Thursday to sketch out his agenda for preserving Internet freedom. In Paul’s view, this means opposing warrantless government snooping of private networks—and also opposing regulations intended to protect privacy and network neutrality.

The event follows last month’s announcement of a new “Internet freedom” initiative by the Campaign for Liberty, an activist group founded by the elder Paul. It appears that father and son see eye to eye on Internet issues, and the younger Paul used the Heritage event as an opportunity to explain his views.

Sen. Paul began by referencing Gordon Crovitz’s recent column in the Wall Street Journal, questioning whether the government launched the Internet. We’ve pointed out that Crovitz’s column was factually challenged; Paul offered a more nuanced version of the argument.

“It may not be completely simple but it’s definitely not as simple as that the government invented it,” he said. “When you say stuff like, ‘Oh, the government invented the Internet,’ it sort of demeans the process of the individuals who were involved.”

For example, “There was Vinton Cerf. There was Tim Berners-Lee. There were individuals. But it wasn’t the faceless government that invented the Internet. It was individuals. Even if some of them did work for government, the mind of the individual is what should be extolled, not some faceless bureaucracy.”

Video: Cash hoarder alert – US companies hold at least $5 trillion in liquidity

Reports that US corporations hold less than $2 trillion in liquid assets are apparently false.  The figure is closer to $5 trillion and, if these corporations ever decide to spend their vast resources, inflation will go through the roof.

The Irony of Celebrating a Pro-Abortion President’s Birthday

On Saturday, the President of the United States, who has spent the past four years dividing Americans rather than uniting, celebrates his 51st birthday. He will be lavished with all kinds of praise by the sycophants known as mainstream media.

Undoubtedly, groups like the NAACP, the ACLU, GLAAD, OWS and the failed Democrat party will laud him with undeserved accolades, but it’s fitting in their surreal universe. Anyone who can be given a Nobel Peace Prize without any record of actually brokering peace can certainly be praised for a myriad of mythological achievements from devoted surrogates.

Happy Birthday, Obama. Now get out:

This weekend in the battleground state of Florida, a completely original and unconventional TV ad, leading people to www.ObamaGetOut.com, will take to the airwaves and ride the digital spectrum to voters’ homes. Thanks to my tea-partying friends at Patriot Super PAC, who understand our Constitutional rights are under relentless assault, this is my birthday wish to the President (created for my SoOutLoud.com)

I am absolutely ashamed of the U.S. media establishment’s willing role as Obama’s personal public relations firm instead of the public watchdog for Americans who deserve journalistic objectivity. Poverty is at its highest level since the mid 1960s.

But it’s not Obama’s fault. Unemployment just inched up to 8.3% for this past month and continues to be much higher now among black Americans than it ever was under George W. Bush. But it’s not Obama’s fault. Remember all of those mortgages that Hope and Change was going to pay? We have a massive epidemic of foreclosures across the nation, but it’s not Obama’s fault. Public schools, like the one he spoke at recently here in Virginia, are failing our children. Green Run High School, according to the VA Department of Education has failed to meet required levels of achievements for the last three years and is labeled as “Not In Improvement”.

Co-founder of Apple warns that storing data, email on the “cloud” could be disastrous

Steve Wozniak, who co-founded Apple with the late Steve Jobs, predicted “horrible problems” in the coming years as cloud-based computing takes hold.

Wozniak, 61, was the star turn at the penultimate performance in Washington of “The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs,” monologist Mike Daisey’s controversial two-hour expose of Apple’s labor conditions in China.

In a post-performance dialogue with Daisey and audience members, Wozniak held forth on topics as varied as public education (he once did a stint as a school teacher) and reality TV (having appeared on “Dancing with the Stars”).

But the engineering wizard behind the progenitor of today’s personal computer, the Apple II, was most outspoken on the shift away from hard disks towards uploading data into remote servers, known as cloud computing.

“I really worry about everything going to the cloud,” he said. “I think it’s going to be horrendous. I think there are going to be a lot of horrible problems in the next five years.”

Homosexual illegal aliens get to stay in US; Obama continues to ignore DOMA

Amid pressure from Democratic lawmakers, Homeland Security officials reiterated Friday that a foreigner’s longstanding same-sex relationship with a U.S. citizen could help stave off the threat of deportation.

Binational gay couples are eligible for consideration under a federal program designed to focus resources away from low-priority deportation cases and let officials spend more time tracking down convicted criminals, said Marsha Catron, a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security.

However, the Obama administration will not automatically shelve deportation cases or process green card applications involving foreign citizens married to same-sex American partners.

Catron said her agency will continue to comply with a 1996 law that prohibits the government from recognizing same-sex relationships, even as Homeland Security takes these relationships into consideration when evaluating possible deportation.

The Obama administration last year said it considers the 1996 law unconstitutional and would no longer defend it in court.

Tens of thousands of fish die in Midwest as drought, heat take their toll

About 40,000 shovelnose sturgeon were killed in Iowa last week as water temperatures reached 97 degrees Fahrenheit (36.1 Celsius). Nebraska fishery officials said they’ve seen thousands of dead sturgeon, catfish, carp, and other species in the Lower Platte River, including the endangered pallid sturgeon. And biologists in Illinois said the hot weather has killed tens of thousands of large- and smallmouth bass and channel catfish and is threatening the population of the greater redhorse fish, a state-endangered species.

So many fish died in one Illinois lake that the carcasses clogged an intake screen near a power plant, lowering water levels to the point that the station had to shut down one of its generators.

“It’s something I’ve never seen in my career, and I’ve been here for more than 17 years,” said Mark Flammang, a fisheries biologist with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. “I think what we’re mainly dealing with here are the extremely low flows and this unparalleled heat.”

The fish are victims of one of the driest and warmest summers in history. The federal U.S. Drought Monitor shows nearly two-thirds of the lower 48 states are experiencing some form of drought, and the Department of Agriculture has declared more than half of the nation’s counties — nearly 1,600 in 32 states — as natural disaster areas. More than 3,000 heat records were broken over the last month.

Iowa DNR officials said the sturgeon found dead in the Des Moines River were worth nearly $10 million, a high value based in part on their highly sought eggs, which are used for caviar. The fish are valued at more than $110 a pound.

Video: Now we’re Al-Qaeda’s allies?! Obama’s foreign policy idiocy continues

This video is worth watching as the local Fox News commentator clearly isn’t spewing the typical “Obama talking points.” Instead, he questions, “Who exactly is the US supporting in Syria?”

Clint Eastwood just made Mitt Romney’s day

The Dirty Harry star and Oscar-winning director of Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby endorsed the Republican presidential candidate Friday night during a Sun Valley, Idaho fundraiser.

‘I think the country needs a boost,’ Eastwood told The Associated Press as he joined other Romney supporters for the private campaign event.

In February, Eastwood told Fox News that he wasn’t supporting any politician at that time.

Some saw the ‘halftime in America’ ad he made for the Super Bowl as a nod toward President Barack Obama. Eastwood responded then by saying he was not ‘politically affiliated’ with the president.

‘Now more than ever do we need Gov. Romney. I’m going to be voting for him,’ Eastwood told Romney supporters Friday night.

Bomb disposal hero stuns 4 year old daughter by surprising her on big screen during show at SeaWorld

A trip to SeaWorld turned into the surprise of a lifetime for a four-year-old girl who was reunited with her soldier father.

Army Specialist Eric Espinosa, who was responsible for finding, defusing or activating improvised explosive devices in Afghanistan, had not seen his daughter Alexis for a year.

But as his daughter watched an underwater show at SeaWorld Orlando’s Shamu Stadium, the army combat engineer turned up in a surprise homecoming.

The show began with a tribute to all retired servicemen and women in the audience, when Alexis saw that she had popped up on the big screen. Suddenly, behind her, appeared a man in military fatigues.

In confusion, the little girl looked around to see if her father was really there and she could not contain her excitement when he tapped her on the shoulder.
