12 Year Old Girl, Home Alone, Shoots Burglar Through Closet Door (+video)

By Steven Powell. A man who broke into a home [in southern Oklahoma this week], when he was shot by a 12-year-old girl who was in the home alone.

Debra St. Clair, the girl’s mother, said her daughter called her at work to say an unknown man was ringing the doorbell. When the girl didn’t answer, the man went around to the back and kicked in the back door.

She told her daughter to grab the family gun, barricade herself in the closet and call 911.

“I drove home at a really fast pace to try to get to her, and when I got here the police were already here. And they had the suspect,” she said.

St. Clair’s daughter had hid in the closet with a .40 Glock.

But Undersheriff Ken Golden said the intruder kept making his way through the house.

“And what we understand right now, he was turning the doorknob when she fired through the door,” he said. Read more from this story HERE.

Japanese artist makes models appear to burst at the seams with creepy zips, buttons, power plugs and laces

With zips, power plugs, laces and buttons adorning their bodies, these young models look like something out of a travelling freak show.

But they are in fact the latest walking exhibits of Japanese artist Chooo-San’s incredible illusionary makeup art.

Bored with digitally enhanced pictures, the 19-year-old student decided to see how far she could push her limits without technology – with impressive results.

Using only acrylic paints, these amazingly realistic images are enough to make anyone look twice.

Using no digital-editing, the bizarre body-modifications are painstakingly applied using just paint, and they no doubt give passers-by a fright.

The Price of Peace Remains Eternal Vigilance – Especially if Romney Wins

Conrad Hilton, the founder of the Hilton Hotel Empire, spent money out of his own pocket to run the following prayer in many major American magazines on July 4th, 1952:

Our Father in heaven,

We pray that You save us from ourselves.

The world that You have made for us, to live in peace, we have made into an armed camp. We live in fear of war to come. We are afraid of “the terror that flies by night, and the arrow that flies by day, the pestilences that walks in darkness and the destruction that wastes at noon-day.” (Psalm 91)

We have turned from You to go out selfish way. We have broken Your commandments and denied Your truth. We have left Your altars to serve the false gods of money and pleasure and power.

Forgive us and help us.

Now, darkness gathers around us, and we are confused in all our counsels. Losing faith in You, we lose faith in ourselves.

Inspire us with wisdom, all of us of every color, race and creed, to use our wealth, our strength to help our brother, instead of destroying him. Help us to do Your will as it is done in heaven, and to be worthy of Your promise of peace on earth. Fill us with new faith, new strength and new courage, that we may win the Battle for Peace.

Be swift to save us, dear God, before the darkness falls.

Again, Hilton ran that ad in major American magazines in 1952. For many of us today, that period of time represents an era of nostalgic Americana we are striving to return to. Yet Hilton looked around at what seems to us an idyllic era and saw many of the exact same evils and threats to freedom we are wringing our hands about today.

There’s a lesson here.

American Christians like me are faced with a temptation to think shortsightedly that I don’t believe any other Christians in the history of Christendom ever had to deal with. That’s because as Americans we are blessed with a level of prosperity, freedom, and mainstream acceptance – yes, even under President Obama – that no other era of Christians has ever had. This provides us the luxury of thinking primarily about the next election, the next fiscal quarter, or the next job review.

Before and outside America, Christians worldwide faced a level of persecution, pestilence, and oppression that compelled them to think long-term, because otherwise there was no hope.

I understand Obama represents an unprecedented lack of respect and agreement with the traditions and values that created American Exceptionalism. I also remember when we were told the same things about Bill Clinton and Michael Dukakis, too. The other side of this debate does not agree or understand American Exceptionalism otherwise they would support policies that support it. That will always be the case until we win the day, and that requires a long-term plan.

Part of that long-term plan is realizing the battle isn’t over on Election Day, but is just beginning. The other side has more diligence and perseverance. Whether they win or lose on November 6th, they will be right back in the fight on November 7th.

Will we do the same? Yes Mitt Romney has more respect for American Exceptionalism than Obama, and he clearly has a better idea of how a real economy works, but given Obama’s failures that’s not a tough threshold to clear. Still, as someone that owns his own show and is thus a business owner himself, I could certainly use a better economy for me and my employees as much as the next guy.

I also agree that it’s tough to be free unless you can provide for yourself, and the more the government interferes with that the more freedom is threatened. I do agree that based on his private sector experience and Obama’s public sector record, Romney is the superior choice for freedom in this area.

However, let us not forget that Romney has shown repeatedly that left on his own he cannot be trusted, as have most Republican politicians who talk a good game on the campaign trail. If a politician like Romney in the heat of a campaign is willing to turn on his own base (see Todd Akin and Chick-fil-a) when he thinks most needs us in the heat of a campaign, what will he do in office when he thinks he doesn’t?

We must do a better job of being diligent in holding their feet to the fire while in office, rather than spinning their failures as “not as bad as the other guy.” For once they’re in office there is no “other guy,” for they are the ones taking the oath of office. Thus responsibility for leadership falls on them alone.

The past two election cycles we have thankfully been willing to wield the ultimate weapon against the ruling class—the threat or realization of a primary. We have mounted casualties of spineless and untrustworthy Republicans around the country, and this trend must not only continue but be ratcheted up all the more. Politicians don’t see the light until they feel the heat, and no amount of blogging, broadcasting, or blasting impacts a politician as much as the threat of losing their job.

The price of liberty remains eternal vigilance. We must be willing to pay it otherwise Hilton’s prayer will be as sadly relevant 60 years from now for our children and grandchildren as it was for Hilton 60 years ago.

Must See Video: Romney Roasts Obama, Biden at Al Smith Dinner

Whoever wrote Romney’s speech for the Al Smith Dinner last night deserves a medal. One line after another, it was absolutely hilarious.

Here are just a few:

“Don’t be surprised if the president mentions this evening the monthly jobs report where there was a slight improvement in the numbers. He knows how to seize the moment, this president. And already he has a compelling new campaign slogan, ‘You’re better off now than you were four weeks ago.'”

“Campaigns can be grueling, exhausting. President Obama and are each very lucky to have one person who is always in our corner, someone who we can lean on, and someone who is a comforting presence. Without whom, we wouldn’t be able to go another day. I have my beautiful wife Ann, he has Bill Clinton.”

“I have special admiration for the Apostle St. Peter, to whom it is said, ‘Upon this rock, I will build my church.’ The story is all the more inspiring when you consider that he had so many skeptics and scoffers at the time who were heard to say, ‘If you’ve got a church, you didn’t build that.'”

Here’s a complete video of Romney’s speech:

Failed US State Department Now Defending Dutch Leader Accused of Child Rape

Inexplicably, the US State Department is coming to the defense of a leading Dutch government official who has been accused of horrific sex crimes involving young boys. The foreign official, the Secretary General of the Netherlands Ministry of Justice, Joris Demmink, has repeatedly been accused of child sex crimes in the past. The past investigations into these allegations have ended prematurely under questionable circumstances.

After the State Department’s curious involvement in the case, several US congressmen decided to investigate. One, GOP Representative Christopher Smith (NJ), actually held a hearing on the matter. According to WND, Representative Smith deemed the allegations “credible”:

The allegations are shocking and horrible, Mr. Demmink has a right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and that is a sacred right that I’m sure we all want to protect. At the same time, the allegations, when taken in their full context, are credible, and deserve to be properly investigated so that a prosecutor can make a responsible decision whether to proceed with a case against Mr. Demmink. That investigation has never happened – the investigations that have taken place have been a travesty and have done nothing to clear Mr. Demmink’s name. Rather, they have raised further questions

One of the alleged child sex victim’s attorneys, Adele van der Plas, says there is “overwhelming proof” of the Dutch official’s guilt. According to WND:

She said there are four police reports naming Demmink as a suspect, and six victims who have come forward to identify him. She said a Turkish policeman who was to provide security but instead was asked to kidnap boys from the street for Demmink to rape has come forward.

But van der Plas told WND, “There has never been a credible investigation into his behavior.”

She said the investigations simply are halted.

Ms. van der Plas maintains that the past investigations into the accused molester’s criminal activities have been halted because the allegations would “touch the top power elite.” Similar allegations have been made about child sex investigations impeded in the US.

The following is a documentary that concludes “child traffickers rule” the Netherlands:

Why the US State Department would waste effort and reputation defending a foreign official accused of such horrid crimes is inexplicable.

Romney’s son says he wanted to PUNCH Obama after he called his father a ‘liar’; O’Donnell Says, ‘Let’s Get it On’ (+videos)

By Toby Harnden. Mitt Romney’s eldest son Taggart – known as Tagg – has said he wanted to punch Barack Obama during Tuesday’s fiery debate in Long Island, New York.

His frank admission – delivered with a laugh during a local radio interview – came after it emerged that Michelle Obama broke the debate rules to clap when moderator Candy Crowley took her husband’s side on whether he had described the Bengahzi attack as a terrorist act.

At times in the debate it seemed as though Obama and Romney might have a physical confrontation as they circled each other like gladiators in a ring, wagged their fingers and interrupted each other.

Each accused the other of playing fast and lose with the facts. When Romney said that the president was ‘completely and totally wrong’, Obama shot back: ‘Governor, that’s not true.’

The encounter was perhaps the most rancorous in U.S. presidential debate history. The two men have made little secret of their disdain for each other. Read more from this story HERE.

Video: Liberal Bob Beckel – “It’s Over, it’s Over”; Romney Leads by 7 Points

On Fox News’ “The Five”, former Democratic strategist Bob Beckel sounded defeated when reflecting on today’s Gallup poll showing Mitt Romney taking a 52-46 percent lead over Barack Obama nationally.

“It’s over. If these numbers are true, it’s over,” Beckel said.

That’s consistent with Karl Rove’s opinion, as well. Rove noted that Romney’s support among likely voters has increased significantly in the race and there’s never been a past US election where a candidate for president has lost while at 50% or above among likely voters in mid-October.

Here’s the Fox News interview with Beckel:

Video: Obama Callously States on Comedy Central, “If Four Americans Get Killed, It’s not OPTIMAL”

By Toby Harnden. President Barack Obama, during an interview shown on Comedy Central, has responded to a question about his administration’s confused communication after the Benghazi attack, by saying: ‘If four Americans get killed, it’s not optimal.’

Obama was speaking to Jon Stewart of The Daily Show for a programme that was broadcast last night. Stewart, a liberal whose young audience is full of potential voters prized by the Obama campaign, asked the president about his handling of the aftermath of the Benghazi attack.

But Obama’s response sparked outrage among Republican commentators including the website Breitbart and prompted a vicious backlash from the Twitter community.

Ambassador Chris Stevens, diplomat Sean Smith and security men and former U.S. Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods were killed by terrorists on the 11th anniversary of 9/11 – an attack that the White House initially blamed on a spontaneous protest about an anti-Islam movie made in California.

Stewart asked: ‘Is part of the investigation helping the communication between these divisions? ‘Not just what happened in Benghazi, but what happened within.’ Read more from this story HERE.

Federal Court Strikes Down Defense of Marriage Act, Says Homosexuals are a Protected Class

A federal appeals court on Thursday ruled that gay Americans are a class of people who deserve the same kinds of constitutional protections as many other victims of discrimination.

The 2-to-1 ruling, by the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York, came as the panel struck down the federal law prohibiting federal recognition of same-sex marriage. It is the first time that a federal appeals court has applied this level of constitutional protection — known as heightened scrutiny — to those unions. The case is now considered by some legal scholars to be the leading candidate for a Supreme Court review of the same-sex marriage issue.

Thursday’s decision was the second by a federal appeals court striking down the Defense of Marriage Act. Now the case, Windsor v. United States, could be considered by the Supreme Court, or the court could choose other cases in its pipeline concerning same-sex marriage. Those include an earlier decision on the act by the First Circuit in Boston and one from the Ninth Circuit overturning California’s ban on same-sex marriage. It could also decide to hear all of them.

“It’s an incredible moment in the struggle for gay rights in this country,” said James D. Esseks, director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s project dealing with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues.

The new case was brought on behalf of Edith Windsor of New York City, who married her longtime partner, Thea Clara Spyer, in 2007 in Canada. When Ms. Spyer died in 2009, Ms. Windsor inherited her property. Because the Internal Revenue Service was not allowed, under the Defense of Marriage Act, to consider her a surviving spouse, she faced a tax bill of $363,053 that she would not have had to pay if the marriage had been recognized.

House Investigating Obama’s $8.3 Billion Slush Fund Created to Hide Impacts of Obamacare on Medicare Prior to Election

President Obama had a big political problem: Obamacare destroys the popular Medicare Advantage program, which offers private insurance plans to supplement Medicare. Something like a quarter of Medicare beneficiaries use this program. (It’s funny how free-market competition is both popular and effective when it’s actually tried, isn’t it?)

Obamacare sucks over $200 billion out of Medicare Advantage, something that would have been very noticeable through price increases and benefit reductions during open enrollment… which began in October, right before the election.

If you’re Barack Obama, you solve a problem like that by throwing huge amounts of other peoples’ money at it. So it was that a little “demonstration project” to reward the most effective Medicare Advantage plans was suddenly inflated into a titanic $8.3 billion slush fund – bigger than the 85 previous demonstration projects combined – in order to delay the pain of Medicare Advantage cuts until after the election. The standards for receiving payouts from this “incentive” program were lowered so much that even mediocre plans could receive a “reward.” It wouldn’t do to have seniors opening envelopes that say their premiums have skyrocketed or some of their favorite benefits have been dropped, right before the election!

The House Oversight Committee began investigating this jumbo Slurpee of slush in May, and ran into a Health and Human Services stonewall so obvious that it’s comical. A request for documents on May 23 was ignored by HHS. It was repeated on August 1, and ignored again. House Oversight fired off emails to a couple of HHS staffers, and didn’t get a response for weeks… at which point the HHS Deputy Director for Oversight and Investigation said, “I’m checking on the status and will get back to you,” but never got back to anybody.
