Third World America: Phony Statistics

Face it, America is hurtling toward third world status, and the signs are all around us, from the growth of a violent underclass to the rise of an oligarchy to a government that lies without shame and re-doubles on those lies when challenged. One of the other symptoms is the emergence of phony government statistics. John Crudele of the New York Post has broken story after story on fraud in the Census Bureau’s statistics, which are used for many political and economic purposes, affecting the lives of all Americans. Based on sources throughout the Bureau, he is now charging widespread fraud, and some of his sources have agreed to speak with an Inspector General. These whistle blowers need protection against retaliation

I’ve suggested that these two new sources speak with the Commerce Department’s Office of Inspector General and the House Oversight Committee about their allegations. They agreed.

The OIG, Oversight Committee and several others are looking into the operation of Census since I broke the Buckmon story.

If investigators do want to speak with any of the Census sources who have now come forward, I am insisting that the workers be protected under federal whistle-blower laws.

Krauthammer Hails ‘Towering’ Affirmative Action Decision: ‘Exactly the Way You Want To Do It In a Democracy’

Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer praised the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold a Michigan law banning affirmative action in public universities, calling it “exactly the way you want to to do it in a democracy.”

Krauthammer appeared on a Fox News panel along with the Weekly Standard’s Steve Hayes and liberal commentator Juan Williams to discuss the decision.

“The left is trying to institutionalize affirmative action,” Krauthammer asserted, “to make it impossible for any legislature or any referendum ever to abolish it, ever in the history of the country. Essentially to say that it’s an intrinsic part of the Constitution, racial preferences are here forever.”

“An outrageous proposition that was rejected by the court,” he continued. “And it said, ‘We’re not going to rule that it’s intrinsically in the constitution, just as 11 years ago we didn’t want to rule that it’s not allowed.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says “something is going to happen” to get Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy to stop letting his cattle graze on federal land.

“It’s obvious that you can’t just walk away from this. And we can speculate all we want to speculate to what’s going to happen next,” Reid told KSNV-TV. “But I don’t think it’s going to be tomorrow that something is going to happen, but something will happen. We are a nation of laws, not of men and women.”

Reid called militias staying at Bundy’s Bunkerville ranch “domestic violent terrorist-wannabes.”

Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., disagreed with Reid, telling KSNV that these militia members are “patriots” and took issue with how the U.S. Bureau of Land Management handled the situation.

“I take more issues with the BLM coming in with a paramilitary army of individuals with snipers. I’m talking to people and groups that are there at the event. Your own government with sniper lenses on you. It made a lot of people very uncomfortable,” Heller told KSNV.

Two-thirds of military veterans disapprove of President Obama’s leadership of America, according to a new survey by Concerned Veterans for America. That number is notably higher than last month’s 59 percent of Americans who said they were discontent with the Obama administration, in an AP-GfK poll.

Seventy-three percent of veterans agreed with former Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen, that the national debt (now hinged at $17.5 trillion, $7 trillion more than when Obama took office in January 2009) is “the greatest threat to our national security.”

IRS Employees with Tax and Conduct Issues Still Got Awards, Watchdog Report Finds

IRS employees who had been disciplined for tax and conduct issues were nonetheless rewarded with monetary awards or time off, according to a watchdog report released Tuesday.

The report by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration found that while for the most part the reward program for IRS workers complied with federal regulations, employees who had themselves failed to pay their federal taxes and had discipline problems were also rewarded.

“While not prohibited, providing awards to employees who have been disciplined for failing to pay federal taxes appears to create a conflict with the IRS’s charge of ensuring the integrity of the system of tax administration,” Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration J. Russell George said.

George Will: ‘The president says lots of debates are over because he is losing them’

By Jamie Weinstein.

Though President Obama declared last week that the debate on Obamacare is over, legendary conservative commentator George Will says otherwise.

The Daily Caller recently conducted an extensive interview with the Washington Post columnist on politics, culture and his new book, “A Nice Little Place on the North Side: Wrigley Field at One Hundred,” which TheDC will be featuring over the next several weeks.

“Of course [Obamacare] can be repealed,” Will explained in this segment of the interview. “Or it can be repealed piecemeal…

Obamacare’s healthcare.gov flagged in Heartbleed review

By Associated Press.

People who have accounts on the enrollment website for President Obama’s signature health care law are being told to change their passwords following an administration-wide review of the government’s vulnerability to the confounding Heartbleed Internet security flaw.

Senior administration officials said there is no indication that the healthcare.gov site has been compromised and the action is being taken out of an abundance of caution. The government’s Heartbleed review is ongoing, the officials said, and users of other websites may also be told to change their passwords in the coming days, including those with accounts on the popular WhiteHouse.gov petitions page.

The Heartbleed programming flaw has caused major security concerns across the Internet and affected a widely used encryption technology that was designed to protect online accounts. Major Internet services have been working to insulate themselves against the problem and are also recommending that users change their website passwords.

Officials said the administration was prioritizing its analysis of websites with heavy traffic and the most sensitive user information. A message that will be posted on the health care website starting Saturday reads: “While there’s no indication that any personal information has ever been at risk, we have taken steps to address Heartbleed issues and reset consumers’ passwords out of an abundance of caution.”

The health care website became a prime target for critics of the Obamacare law last fall when the opening of the insurance enrollment period revealed widespread flaws in the online system. Critics have also raised concerns about potential security vulnerabilities on a site where users input large amounts of personal data.

At a prominent conference of education innovators, Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who is considering a 2016 presidential run, called for more guest worker programs and a path to amnesty for all of the country’s illegal immigrants.

Speaking at what is known as the “Davos in the Desert” event in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Monday evening, Bush said the United States needed “robust guest worker programs” and an expansion of H1-B visas for the high-tech industry,” even though the notion that there is a shortage of American high-tech workers has been called a myth. He also called for a “tough but fair path to legalized status” for all of the country’s illegal immigrants and an end to immigration quotas for countries.

Mandatory Common Core Tests in New York Just Happen to Be Full of Corporate Brand Names

Across the state of New York, this year’s Common Core English tests have reportedly featured a slew of brand-name products including iPod, Barbie, Mug Root Beer and Life Savers. For Nike, the tests even conveniently included the shoe company’s ubiquitous slogan: “Just Do It.”

The brands – and apparently even some of their familiar trademark symbols – appeared in tests questions for students ranging from third to eighth grades, reports The Post-Standard of Syracuse.

Over one million students were required to take the tests.

Parents, teachers and school administrators have speculated that the kid-friendly brand names are a new form of product placement.

Education materials behemoth Pearson, which has a $32 million five-year contract to develop New York’s Common Core-related tests, has barred teachers and school officials from disclosing the contents of the tests.

U.S. Army paratroopers are arriving in Poland to begin a series of military exercises in four countries across Eastern Europe to bolster allies in the wake of Russia’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula last month.

Pentagon press secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby said Tuesday that the exercises will last about a month, and initially involve about 600 troops.

An Army company of about 150 soldiers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team based in Vicenza, Italy, will start the exercises Wednesday in Poland. Additional Army companies will head to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and are expected to arrive by Monday for similar land-based exercises in those countries.

Under the current plan, U.S. troops would rotate in and out of the four countries for additional exercises on a recurring basis.
