Joe Miller’s Pro-Life Stance Drew Praise At Alaska Family Action Debate

10488118_868500676495145_6308153990558667276_nA debate among Republican U.S. Senate hopefuls in Alaska earlier this week took an in-depth look at the issue of abortion. Tea Party-backed candidate Joe Miller set himself apart from his two primary competitors by asserting that he is firmly pro-life in all circumstances.

CitizenLink President Tom Minnery served as moderator at the Alaska Family Action debate, using the opportunity to delve into the views each candidate holds.

As Miller pointed out, his GOP rivals, Dan Sullivan and Mead Treadwell, supported pro-abortion Republican Lisa Murkowski in the 2010 Senate election. Minnery noted that, along with Democrat Sen. Mark Begich, Murkowski voted for a recent bill that would give American women even more access to the deadly procedure.

As for Miller’s opponents, each acknowledged they embrace exceptions to their purportedly pro-life views. Sullivan said he believes abortion should be available in cases of rape and incest, while Treadwell thinks the mother’s welfare should be a consideration.

Instead of focusing on exceptions, Miller concluded that “we ought to be talking about life” and saving “every life we can.”

Air Force officials announced Aug. 7 that Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, was selected as the preferred alternative to host the first F-35A Lightning II squadrons in the Pacific area of responsibility.

Eielson was selected due to its ability to support the mission, economic factors and environmental considerations.

“Basing the F-35s at Eielson (AFB) will allow the Air Force the capability of using the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex for large force exercises using a multitude of ranges and maneuver areas in Alaska,” said Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James. “This, combined with the largest airspace in the Air Force, ensures realistic combat training for the DOD.”

Proximity to the range complex will enable the Air Force to take advantage of approximately 65,000 square miles of available airspace for realistic, world-class training in the Air Force’s most advanced fifth-generation fighter.

Miller Receives Another Pro-Life Endorsement

Today Joe Miller announced yet another key endorsement. Pro-Life activist Rebecca Kiessling has endorsed Miller’s run for United States Senate, due to his unequivocal advocacy for the natural right to life.

Rebecca was conceived in rape, and her mother wanted to abort her. But because of the State of Michigan’s strong legal protections for children in the womb prior to Roe v. Wade, her mother was unable to follow through. An attorney with a family of her own, Rebecca now travels the country to advocate for those in similar circumstances, arguing powerfully against the injustice of punishing innocent children for the crimes of their fathers.

“Joe Miller is a hero to me, – someone who is willing to defend ‘the least of these’ without discrimination,” said Kiessling. “I proudly endorse Joe!”

Miller is also the only candidate in the race for Alaska’s US Senate seat to be endorsed by Alaska Right to Life, the state’s leading organization dedicated solely to promoting the sanctity of life, and protecting the unborn at every stage of development.

Video surfaced on Thursday showing Michael Mulgrew, president of New York’s United Federation of Teachers, as he unloaded a hateful rant against critics of the Common Core Standards Initiative.

“If someone takes something from me, I’m going to grab it right back out of their cold, twisted, sick hands and say it is mine!” Mulgrew bellowed clownishly. “You do not take what is mine!”

The union boss also challenged opponents of Common Core and union control over education to a fist fight.

“I’m going to punch you in the face and push you in the dirt because this is the teachers’!” Mulgrew threatened.

The teachers union bigwig made the speech at a convention in Los Angeles last month, according to the New York Daily News.

Proposed AP History Curriculum Portrays Colonists as “Bigots”

By Sarah Jean Seman.

David Coleman, current president of the College Board and lead architect of Common Core State Standards, has been accused of “inculcating a negative view of American history” in his proposed advanced placement curriculum. In a letter dated August 4, American Principles in Action and Concerned Women for America, presented an exhaustive list of how American oppressors and exploiters are highlighted while dreamers, innovators and heroes are left out.

The new material portrayed the colonists as bigoted and interpreted America’s attempt to spread democracy as “white racial superiority,” according to the letter…

And the Credit for Defeating Slavery in America Goes to… Criminals!

140808frontimageIf you’re like me, you learned in school that the slaves of the old American South were freed by Abraham Lincoln, or at least by the central government of the United States. I believed that for a long time, and was not only surprised, but troubled, when I learned otherwise.

But as I dug through the facts about slavery in the South, I found the same pattern that I’ve seen over and over when I examined historical turns for the better: that the true benefactors were opposed and punished.

The people who did the actual work to end slavery were regarded as criminals by every level of the United States government, from Congress and the Supreme Court, down to the local sheriff. The laws of the United States enforced slavery, and powerfully so. Anyone who broke those laws was hunted and punished, exactly the same as ordinary criminals are now.

The Criminals, North and South

There is enough information on the criminals of the North to describe them fairly well. There is relatively little information available on the criminals of the South. For example, look at this map of the Underground Railroad, a people-smuggling network:

Russian Bombers Increase Flights Near U.S. Airspace

For the second time since June, Russian nuclear bombers escorted by fighter jets have flown near U.S. and Canadian airspace around Alaska in recent days, prompting precautionary intercepts by American warplanes.

The encounters come amid Russian war games along the border with eastern Ukraine, raising Western concerns that Moscow might invade to support pro-Moscow separatists battling the Kiev government since spring.

A U.S. air command official acknowledged at least 16 Russian forays around Alaska and northern Canada in the past 10 days, describing them as routine training missions. One intercept spotted a Russian spy plane among the Tupolev Tu-95 “Bear” bombers and Tu-142 reconnaissance and anti-submarine aircraft.

“Over the past week, NORAD has visually identified Russian aircraft operating in and around the U.S. air defense identification zones,” Maj. Beth Smith, of the U.S. Northern Command and the North American Aerospace Defense Command, toldThe Washington Free Beacon.

Russian bombers have regularly flown along the sensitive airspace between Russia, Alaska and Arctic Canada, but Smith called the latest missions “a spike in activity.”

The death of James Brady, who served as press secretary for Ronald Reagan and died earlier this week at the age of 73, was ruled a homicide, 33 years after he was wounded during an attempt on Reagan’s life.

The District of Columbia medical examiner issued the ruling Friday, according to NBC Washington.

According to the station, the determination opens up the possibility of murder charges against John Hinckley Jr., the man who shot Brady, Reagan and two others outside of the Washington Hilton Hotel on March 30, 1981.

Brady suffered a gun shot wound to the head and was partially paralyzed. Reagan was wounded by a ricocheted bullet which struck him in the chest.

Hinckley Jr. was found not guilty by reason of insanity for the attempted assassination and is currently in a mental hospital outside of Washington.

Planned Parenthood Won’t Comment on Doing Abortion on Raped 13-Year-Old, Returning Her to Rapist

Planned Parenthood enabled a sexual abuser to prey on a 13-year-old girl over and over. It appears to have broken state law in ignoring the repeated rapes and abuse and, now, it won’t comment on the record.

A Planned Parenthood affiliate in Denver, Colorado is facing a lawsuit after Cary Smith, of Federal Heights, discovered that clinic staff failed to inquire or report about suspected sexual abuse of her thirteen-year-old daughter after giving her an abortion.

As LifeNews reported last month, this case was a mother’s nightmare where a abuser took a teenage girl to a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic for an abortion after repeated sexual assault resulted in a pregnancy. Planned Parenthood had no trouble pocketing a few hundred dollars for an abortion but couldn’t seem to bring itself to do anything about the abuse.

The sexual abuse of this teenage girl continued after Planned Parenthood looked the other way.

Now, National Review has profiled the case. Readers won’t be surprised that NR reports: “Neither Planned Parenthood nor Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains responded to National Review Online’s request for comments on this case.”

Police are looking for a hat-wearing man who has robbed at least eight Long Island banks in the last three months.

The man is wanted in a series of bank robberies that dates back to early May. In each case, he approaches a teller, shows a demand note threatening violence unless he gets money, then flees with the cash.

The man is seen in surveillance video wearing a hat during each of the robberies; one of them has the president’s face on it. Others are wide-brimmed.
