What’s Wrong With Sex Ed in America?

By now you’ve heard the news du jour that the heir to the throne of America’s biggest TV family molested his younger sisters and a family friend as a young teenager. The internet is predictably delighted, because nothing is more delicious to progressives than a stumbling, screwed-up Christian. Never mind that it happened over a decade ago and he has reportedly repented and reformed himself; because he and his family live a life of publicly-demonstrative faith, they must be stoned for their crimes.

The real victims in this whole disaster are, of course, his younger sisters and the girl who suffered his unwanted advances and touching, and his own children who are now going to grow up in a world where daddy’s dirty adolescent laundry will be forever enshrined online.

I am in no way excusing Josh Duggar for the abuse he committed against his own sisters. I know plenty of women who were once little girls who suffered molestation by family members, friends, and peers, and the healing can be the work of a lifetime. And sometimes it doesn’t come.

But I am a little confused as to why, in this sexually-permissive freewheeling society of excess we dwell in, it’s being treated as such bombshell.

If every boy I went to middle school with had his behavior from that time period made public, I can guarantee we would have a massive influx of registered sex offenders added to the roster, for one thing. . .

But sin is the damnedest thing, isn’t it? There’s no guarantee that, no matter the efforts you make as a parent, no matter the values you strive to instill in them, your kids aren’t going to turn out to be delinquents or criminals. Or at least screw up royally at some point.

But here’s my question. Why, in a culture pushing sex sex sex at younger and younger ages, passing out condoms and dental dams in 6th grade health class and schooling kindergarteners on proper masturbation techniques, is it shocking or disappointing when a kid goes ahead and acts on the information we’re saturating their developing brains in? Chinese Military Using Jamming Against U.S. Drones Over Artificial Island

China tried to electronically jam U.S. drone flights over the South China Sea in a bid to thwart spying on disputed island military construction, U.S. officials said.

Global Hawk long-range surveillance drones were targeted by the jamming in at least one incident near the disputed Spratly Islands, where China is building military facilities on Fiery Cross Reef.

Disclosure of the jamming came as a U.S. Navy P-8 surveillance flight on Wednesday was challenged eight times by the Chinese military to leave the same area.

“This is the Chinese navy … This is the Chinese navy … Please go away … to avoid misunderstanding,” a radio call in English from an installation on Firey Cross said. The warnings were reported by CNN, which had a reporter on the aircraft.

Later Thursday, the Navy released video revealing that the China’s People’s Liberation Army Navy sent several radio warning messages to the crew of the P-8 ordering the jet to leave the area, and to deviate from its flight path near Fiery Cross Reef. Students Think John Boehner Should Resign Because of ‘Deflategate’ [+video]

Students and visitors at the University of Colorado think John Boehner (R-Ohio) is responsible for Deflategate and should resign “immediately,” according to a series of interviews conducted on the Boulder campus.

The video, which promotes this summer’s Western Conservative Summit, presented students with a non-sequitur asking if they believe John Boehner, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, should be forced to resign over the totally unrelated “Deflategate” incident in which the New England Patriots allegedly underinflated AFC championship game footballs.

“Personally, I don’t think he’s responsible for Tom Brady’s actions, and I don’t know if he was involved. They need to do a little bit more investigation.”

Meth Addict Gouged out Eyes and Ate Them

An ice addict in [an Australian] hospital emergency department gouged out his own eyeballs and ate them, a Federal Liberal MP has revealed.

The horrific story was revealed yesterday at an Ice Summit on the Central Coast organized by the Express Advocate to address the epidemic in the region.

Dobell Federal Liberal MP Karen McNamara relayed the story as she opened the summit before a packed auditorium this morning.

“There is nothing at all recreational about this drug,” Ms McNamara said . . .

A spokeswoman for Ms McNamara later said the incident occurred at John Hunter Hospital at Newcastle [Australia] and that she was in the room when the story was related to Ms McNamara by a frontline emergency services officer who wished to remain anonymous. Court Affidavit: Suspect in DC Quadruple Murder Did Not Act Alone

More than one person likely was involved in the slayings of four people who were held captive inside a Washington, D.C., mansion until $40,000 was delivered last week, authorities revealed Friday.

Daron Dylon Wint, a welder with a criminal record of assaults who once worked for the mansion’s owner, has been charged with murder. But authorities said they believe he did not act alone: A court document made public Friday said they believe the crimes “required the presence and assistance of more than one person.”

Savvas Savopoulos, 46; his wife Amy, 47, and their housekeeper Veralicia Figueroa, 57, died from “blunt force and sharp force trauma.” The couple’s 10-year-old son, Philip, died of “thermal and sharp force injuries.” All four bodies were found by firefighters after a flammable liquid was spread around the home and set ablaze.

“The crimes described in this affidavit required the presence and assistance of more than one person,” said a court document made public Friday.

Josh Duggar on Child Molestation Report: ‘I Acted Inexcusably’; TLC Pulls Show

Reality TV star Josh Duggar issued an apology Thursday after reports surfaced that he allegedly molested girls as a teenager, saying: “I acted inexcusably.”

Duggar, 27, is the oldest of the children who appear on TLC’s hit show “19 Kids and Counting.” The Duggars are known for being devout Christians who don’t believe in practicing birth control and whose children follow strict courtship rules.

TLC pulled all episodes of the show currently set to air, according to Shannon Llanes, a spokeswoman for the network.

The network had already replaced several scheduled repeats of “19 Kids and Counting” with “The Little People.”

11-Year-Old Graduating With 3 Degrees From U.S. College

Photo Credit: Twitter An 11-year-old boy receiving three degrees became the youngest graduate at American River College this year, by far.

Tanishq Abraham graduated from high school at age 10, and now has his sights set on a medical degree. He told KCRA he wasn’t intimidated by taking classes with students twice his age.

“Even on the first time I came to a college class, I wasn’t really nervous, so, this isn’t much of a big thing to me,” Abraham said.

Abraham graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA, which didn’t come as a surprise to his mother.

Woman Found Pushing Dead Son in Swing at Park

Photo Credit: WUSA9 A Maryland mother was found pushing her dead three-year-old child in a swing at a park Friday morning, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers responded to Wills Memorial Park located at 500 St. Mary’s Avenue around 6:55 a.m. for the report of a woman who had been pushing a child in a swing for an unusually long period of time.

The 24-year-old mother and her son may have been at the park since the day before, officials said. When officers got to the park, they found the woman pushing the three-year-old in a swing at the playground. Officers noticed right away that the boy was dead. World’s Oldest Person to Turn 116

The woman declared by gerontology experts to be the oldest person in the world is turning 116 Saturday.

Jeralean Talley was born in Montrose, Ga., on May 23, 1899. She’s been in Michigan since 1935. Relatives say she remains active and aware of what’s going on around her.

Talley was named world’s oldest person in April after the death of Gertrude Weaver,who passed away at the age of 116. Weaver died just five days after 117-year-old Misao Okawa died in Japan . . .

Talley has been consistent in her answer as to what she’s lived so long.

MUST WATCH VIDEO: Ted Cruz Charges Reporters’ Gay Rights Questions Come From MSNBC

Photo Credit: Bill Clark/CQ Roll CallDuring a presidential campaign visit to Beaumont, Texas, on Tuesday, U.S. senator Ted Cruz finally became so exasperated with the constant barrage of reporters’ inquiries about homosexuals’ rights that he suggested Kevin Steele of KMBT-TV refrain from getting his questions “from MSNBC. They have very few viewers, and they are a radical and extreme partisan outlet.”

Cruz also referred to the U.S. Supreme Court’s upcoming decision on the constitutionality of same-sex marriage and said Democrats are “so devoted to mandatory gay marriage that they’ve decided there’s no room for religious liberty.”

Steele also asked the senator: “Do you have a personal animosity against gay Americans?”

The GOP official patiently replied:

. . .I recognize that you’re reading questions from MSNBC, that you’re wincing. You don’t want to talk about foreign policy. I recognize that you want to ask another question about gay rights.
