Several huge explosions were heard today at a US army base in Japan.
At least 10 fire engines rushed to the scene in Sagamihara city, south of Tokyo, amid reports of a blast sparked by an unknown cause.
Footage shows several small bangs and one huge explosion, which witnesses described on social media as like “a fireworks display.”
Pentagon spokesman US Navy Commander Bill Urban confirmed there are no injuries.
The site is part of a US army complex next to the capital where three deliberate explosions were reported in April, in what police suspect was an act of left-wing Japanese extremists. The people of Ferguson, Missouri are sitting on a powder keg.
As the nation waits to learn whether or not a grand jury will indict Officer Darren Wilson for the death of Michael Brown, we also are holding our collective breath to see what the effect of the decision, regardless of what it is, will have on that community. If history is any indication, the city is likely to again explode in a hailstorm of hatred, violence and vengeance.
We can do better.
To be sure, the problem extends far beyond the boundaries of Ferguson. All of America has become a vengeful society in many respects. Politicians attack each other mercilessly, not just during bitterly-fought campaigns, but in the very halls of Congress. The corporate world, religious institutions, communities, personal relationships – all have become examples of our growing culture of vengeance.
The specter of vengeance in our cultural relationships is particularly disturbing because it is a part of our history and our national fabric that we should have gotten past by now, and yet the deep wounds of yesteryear – slavery, civil rights, inequality – remain unhealed and vivid in our minds.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the tragic situation that has evolved from the death of Michael Brown. My heart hurts when I think of the life that was snuffed out before it really began, and I also hurt for Officer Wilson, whose life has been forever changed regardless of the eventual legal outcome.
And of course I think of Michael’s parents, whose wounds are still fresh. Like any parents who have lost a child, they are desperate to ease the pain they feel, and I’m sure they have friends and family members who want that for them as well.
The people of Ferguson also have wounds, but I’m gravely concerned that the way many are choosing to address them is not only counterproductive, but actively feeding into our growing culture of vengeance. Each night, the evening news shows footage of agitated citizens who are preparing to take to the streets the moment the grand jury’s decision is revealed, no matter what that decision is. We also see law enforcement officers who are strapping on riot gear in order to respond.
Further riots and disturbances will do nothing to ease the pain of the Brown family, the city of Ferguson and the nation. The only thing that has any hope of doing that is forgiveness.
The people of Ferguson have a tremendous opportunity to follow the wisdom of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who many in that community claim to hold in the highest esteem and yet they refuse to follow either his teachings or his example. He wrote these words while imprisoned for committing civil disobedience during the Montgomery bus boycott and delivered them at a 1957 Christmas service at Montgomery’s Dexter Avenue Baptist Church:
“First, we must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. It is impossible even to begin the act of loving one’s enemies without the prior acceptance of the necessity, over and over again, of forgiving those who inflict evil and injury upon us. It is also necessary to realize that the forgiving act must always be initiated by the person who has been wronged, the victim of some great hurt, the recipient of some tortuous injustice, and the absorber of some terrible act of oppression.”
As always, Dr. King took his inspiration from the Word of God. No matter how many times he was jailed or beaten or had his family’s safety threatened, he refused to seek vengeance but instead forgave.
Ferguson can forgive too.
It seems clear that some so-called “advisors” have attached themselves to the Brown family and are attempting to exert influence over them. That alone is concerning, but it is especially distressing to see that some of those who are pushing the family toward vengeance and away from forgiveness are church leaders. It saddens me to see that at a time when our religious institutions are critically needed, many of our nation’s pulpits have become affected by this trend.
Dr. King used his pulpit not to advocate a culture of vengeance and hatred, but rather one of forgiveness and reconciliation. Let us join him in his jail cell and peek over his shoulder as he writes these words:
“The words ‘I will forgive you, but I’ll never forget what you’ve done’ never explain the real nature of forgiveness. Certainly one can never forget, if that means erasing it totally from his mind. But when we forgive, we forget in the sense that the evil deed is no longer a mental block impeding a new relationship. Likewise, we can never say, ‘I will forgive you, but I won’t have anything further to do with you.’ Forgiveness means reconciliation, a coming together again.”
The people of Ferguson have an opportunity to make history. They can break the cycle of vengeance in America and become a beacon of light, beginning a new demonstration of God’s love through acts of forgiveness. After all, our lives are not measured in the number of years we live; they are measured by the amount of grace and love that we give.
Forgiveness must extend to everyone, even those whose acts we find completely reprehensible. It must extend even to groups like ISIS, whose cruelty is beyond comprehension. Witnessing the evil they commit gives those of us within the Christian community an opportunity to demonstrate the real God by allowing their deeds to provoke not vengeance, but forgiveness.
As Christians, we are compelled to go beyond merely giving lip service to the concept of forgiveness and take bold action according to God’s narrative. That’s why I have committed to a bike trek of more than 2,600 miles – from Jacksonville Beach, Florida to San Diego, California – beginning on December 17. During my 90-day Race to Reconcile journey, I will visit churches, orphanages, veterans’ homes, schools – any place where I can share the message that our only true salvation will come through the essential acts of forgiveness and reconciliation. At various stops during the journey, beginning with the launch in Jacksonville, we will organize day-long Celebration of Forgiveness events, including a free breakfast, panel discussions, luncheons for supporters, and evening programs featuring music and other performances, testimonials, guest speakers and more.
As we wait for the grand jury’s decision, I see the anguish in the faces of Michael Brown’s parents and in the streets of Ferguson, and it is not the result of what transpired on August 9 or the manner in which the police responded to it. It is the result of our country’s culture of vengeance and our seeming incapacity to forgive. This is true among both blacks and whites, and it extends far beyond the boundaries of Ferguson, Missouri into every community in this nation.
That’s why I implore the people of Ferguson to lead the charge away from vengeance and toward forgiveness and reconciliation. I urge the Brown family to imagine what Dr, King would advise if he was in their living room; to stop listening to those who are using them to further their own agendas and instead allow their son’s tragic death to usher in a new wave of forgiveness, love and grace.
Jesus Christ said it on the cross: “Forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
We have a “moral imperative” to burn carbon dioxide-emitting fossil fuels because the energy they provide is a “liberator” of humanity, says Dr. John Christy, a climatologist and director of the Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama, Huntsville.
“We are not morally bad people for taking carbon and turning it into the energy that offers life to humanity in a world that would otherwise be brutal,” Christy wrote in a recent oped. “On the contrary, we are good people for doing so.”
He also challenged what he says are contradictions in Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si, in which the pontiff called climate change “one of the principal challenges facing humanity in our day.”
The pope’s encyclical “displays a lack of understanding of how the real world works,” Christy told CNSNews.com. According to microwave data from satellites going back to 1978, which are precise to within .08 of a degree, “very little warming is taking place,” he pointed out.
In his encyclical, Pope Francis also wrote that “a very solid scientific consensus indicates that we are presently witnessing a disturbing warming of the climatic system…. The problem is aggravated by a model of development based on the intensive use of fossil fuels, which is at the heart of the worldwide energy system….There is an urgent need to develop policies so that, in the next few years, the emission of carbon dioxide and other highly polluting gases can be drastically reduced.” (Read more from “Climatologist: We Have a ‘Moral Imperative’ to Burn Fossil Fuels” HERE)

Satan worshipers launched a counter-protest against pro-lifers outside the Detroit and Ferndale, Michigan Planned Parenthood locations Saturday.
Clad in black robes, members of the Satanic Temple of Detriot drenched bound women with milk, simulating water-boarding to “illustrate the theocratic agenda imposed upon female bodies.” The milk symbolized breast milk, one of the protest organizers explained on Facebook.
The group attached a symbol of their temple to the American flag and held up a sign that read, “America is not a theocracy. End forced motherhood.”
At one point during the protest, a man claiming to be a sheriff unsuccessfully attempted to move the Satan worshippers along.
Members of the Satanic Temple drew inspiration for their “political theatre” from the nationwide anti-Planned Parenthood protests Saturday. Tens of thousands showed up to protest Planned Parenthood at over 300 locations across the country after a series of undercover videos revealed the abortion giant was harvesting and selling fetal organs and tissue. Days after Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump offered an immigration plan that would power down a visa program heavily used by America’s technology superstar companies, a pro-immigration reform group founded by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has replied by claiming Trump’s plan would cause vast economic devastation.
“What’s absurd is not just these ‘plans,’ but that those who would seek to represent Americans as president are falling all over themselves to support backward policies that would rip apart American families and collapse our economy,” said a statement posted by FWD.us. President Todd Schulte.
Zuckerberg’s support for more immigration led Trump to criticize him by name when Trump released his immigration plan on Sunday.
The FWD.us statement said that Trump’s plan would cause the mass deportation of an estimated 11.5 million undocumented immigrants, costing the economy $1.7 trillion, citing a 2013 study by a Harvard economist. It said it would devastate the construction, agricultural and hospitality industries.
Trump’s immigration plan would reduce the attractiveness of H-1B visas, through which top technology companies import high-skill workers from abroad. Trump wants to increase the minimum wage paid to H-1B workers to force U.S. companies to hire domestically.
“In the year 2015, with 92 million Americans outside the workforce and incomes collapsing, we need to companies to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed. Petitions for workers should be mailed to the unemployment office, not U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS),” Trump’s plan proclaims. By Adam Kredo. Obama administration officials only began notifying local law enforcement officials of the release of violent criminal illegal immigrants within the last two weeks, according to Arizona law enforcement officials, who say they have for years been kept in the dark about the release of illegal immigrants back into local towns.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had been keeping secret its release of illegal immigrants with violent criminal records from local law enforcement for at least two years, denying for a time that this was taking place, law enforcement officials disclosed to the Washington Free Beacon.
The public disclosure of this practice, in which Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) frees criminal illegal immigrants back into U.S. communities, came to light earlier this week, when Arizona law enforcement was made aware that three illegal aliens with violent criminal records had been released back onto the streets . . .
At least three illegal aliens released by DHS in recent weeks have been charged with serious crimes, including the beating of a 7-week-old baby and immolation of a person, according to local law enforcement officials and Rep Matt Salmon (R., Ariz.).
Other Arizona law enforcement officials in the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office further disclosed to the Free Beacon that they still are being kept in the dark about such releases and questioned whether DHS has implemented a standard nationwide practice to alert local officials. Immigration Is the Public’s Biggest Concern, Poll Says
By David Barrett. Immigration is the biggest worry among British voters, overtaking the NHS and the economy as their main concern, according to a new poll.
Fifty per cent of the public said immigration was among the most important issues facing the country, the highest level ever recorded by the monthly Economist Ipsos Mori poll.
Since the Calais crisis erupted, immigration has overtaken the NHS as the most commonly mentioned concern, with the health service now mentioned by 37 per cent of those polled.
Bobby Duffy, the managing director of the Ipsos Mori Social Research Institute, said: “We have never seen concern about immigration this high, and when one single issue reaches 50 per cent it tends to signify that the public perceive it is something which needs to be addressed urgently. Off-duty members of the U.S. military subdued a gunman “known to intelligence services” after he opened fire, injuring three aboard on a high-speed train en route to Paris from Amsterdam Friday.
Three U.S. servicemen were on board the train and overpowered the man when the train stopped in the northern French city of Arras, 115 miles north of Paris, French media reported. Some reports said the men were U.S. Marines but that could not be confirmed.
Passengers on the train subdued the gunman and prevented further carnage, said Christophe Piednoel, spokesman for national railway operator SNCF. The train was then diverted to Arras, where police arrested the suspect, Piednoel said on French television i-Tele.
The suspect was arrested after the train stopped in Arras, 115 miles north of Paris, Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henri Brandet said on French television BFM. Passengers were evacuated and police have secured the area . . .
The victims were identified as an American, a Briton and a Frenchman. Earlier reports said two American service members were among the injured. Two of the victims were in critical condition, according to a statement from the office of President Francois Hollande. By Jonathan Allen. For months, the U.S. State Department has stood behind its former boss Hillary Clinton as she has repeatedly said she did not send or receive classified information on her unsecured, private email account, a practice the government forbids.
While the department is now stamping a few dozen of the publicly released emails as “Classified,” it stresses this is not evidence of rule-breaking. Those stamps are new, it says, and do not mean the information was classified when Clinton, the Democratic frontrunner in the 2016 presidential election, first sent or received it.
But the details included in those “Classified” stamps — which include a string of dates, letters and numbers describing the nature of the classification — appear to undermine this account, a Reuters examination of the emails and the relevant regulations has found.
The new stamps indicate that some of Clinton’s emails from her time as the nation’s most senior diplomat are filled with a type of information the U.S. government and the department’s own regulations automatically deems classified from the get-go — regardless of whether it is already marked that way or not.
In the small fraction of emails made public so far, Reuters has found at least 30 email threads from 2009, representing scores of individual emails, that include what the State Department’s own “Classified” stamps now identify as so-called ‘foreign government information.’ The U.S. government defines this as any information, written or spoken, provided in confidence to U.S. officials by their foreign counterparts. Clinton Campaign on Alert for Undercover Conservative Sting
By Zeke J. Miller. Hillary Clinton’s campaign offices around the country have been put on alert after at least two women approached Iowa staff under the guise of being supporters in an apparent effort to catch the campaign engaging in improper or illegal activity, a Clinton campaign official said.
The motivations of the women is not known, but their alleged techniques match those of Project Veritas, the conservative group run by James O’Keefe, which specializes in undercover stings meant to embarrass liberal groups and politicians. The group declined to comment on the Clinton campaign’s allegations. “Project Veritas does not comment on investigations, real or imagined,” said Daniel Pollack, the director of communications for the group.
A Clinton campaign official alleges that the women engaged in several efforts to entrap supporters. In one scheme, described by Clinton staff, a woman attempted to pass a cash donation to Clinton volunteers and interns. In another, a woman approached the campaign on Aug. 19 and said both her parents had donated to Clinton the legal maximum of $2700 each and wanted to funnel an additional donation through their daughter, a violation of federal law. On Aug. 13, a woman claiming to be Canadian approached another Clinton fellow to ask how to falsify an address for a campaign donation.
In another instance, a woman volunteering with the Clinton campaign on voter registration efforts in Iowa City returned to the campaign’s office in Des Moines and asked whether it was okay that she refuse to register people who don’t support Clinton, the campaign official said. The Clinton campaign maintains that its policy is to register all voters, regardless of their preference in candidates. (Read more from this story HERE)

On Aug. 22, pro-lifers in Alaska will join thousands around the nation in praying and fasting to end abortion and shut down Planned Parenthood.
The gathering is part of a nation-wide effort, Aug. 22-29, to pray and protest outside Planned Parenthood clinics following the release of undercover videos showing the abortion giant harvesting body parts of aborted babies and then haggling over the value of each part with prospective buyers.
In Anchorage pro-life advocates will gather outside the Planned Parenthood clinic at 4001 East Lake Otis Parkway from 9-11 a.m.
In an email to pro-life advocates local organizer Jane McCoy urged Alaskans to turn out on Saturday.
“Planned Parenthood has been the largest abortion provider in our country for decades, but the extent of their perverse inhumanity toward these tiniest of humans was not fully understood until the recent release of videos exposing their exploitation of these innocents through the dissection and harvesting of their precious organs for profit,” she said. “Please be a part of this nation-wide on Saturday, if you are able.”
Prayers for the interdenominational effort can be found at PrayerCampaign.org. (Re-posted with permission, “Nationwide Campaign to Shutdown Planned Parenthood Launches Today” originally appeared HERE)
It’s not surprising for anyone that possesses even half a brain that allowing illegal immigration to run wild in this country has had a severely detrimental effect on the safety and sovereignty of the United States. What is surprising, though, is that there are parts of the country that the United States does not have operational control over.
“Nobody does,” Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu told Breitbart News when asked who has operational control of this region of the United States of America.
Babeu was on a helicopter tour of Mexican drug cartel scout locations in caves in the side of mountains throughout the desert about 70 miles inside the U.S. border. Essentially, that means U.S. sovereignty is gone for hundreds, perhaps thousands, of square miles throughout the American southwest . . .
“If they can operate up to this degree, 70 miles north of the border, in law enforcement we call that a clue,” Babeu said in a brief exclusive interview outside the helicopter after landing back at the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. The lack of United States sovereignty this deep into the country is highly concerning to Carson, who told Breitbart News that this shouldn’t be happening.
There is no reason that cartels should be allowed to basically take over. And as long as the Obama administration continues to look the other way, American citizens will be at risk. (Read more from “Shocking: Our Government No Longer Has Operational Control Over Parts of This State” HERE)
