After 39 years of service to this country, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno retired on Friday, thanking all military spouses — and especially his wife Linda — for helping to “make us a better Army.”
In addition to praising Linda’s “selfless service,” Odierno noted that she’s attended more than 500 memorial services for fallen soldiers over the years.

The Atlas robot created by Google-owned firm Boston Dynamics is a formidable figure at 6ft 2in tall and weighing in at 330lb . . .
Marc Raibert, the founder of Boston Dynamics, talked about the research and showed footage of the project during a talk on Aug. 3 at the 11th Fab Lab Conference and Symposium in Cambridge, Mass.
Several of the competitors on the DRC contest used the Atlas robot as a base, with teams adding their own software.

By now, most of us have heard about the Center for Medical Progresses’ (“CMP’s”) explosive revelations of the backroom butchery of Planned Parenthood over the last several weeks. These committed pro-life activists made a series of undercover videos of interviews with Planned Parenthood employees and corporate representatives of companies involved in the multi-billion dollar dead baby parts trade, shocking the nation.
Among other things, CMP’s videos show – in gruesome detail – how Planned Parenthood has actively marketed baby parts to corporations like StemExpress who pay top dollar, depending on how complete the aborted body is and the “freshness” of the pre-born infant’s organs. This enormously lucrative market has grown exponentially since 1993 when President Bill Clinton reversed the Reagan ban on the trade of fetal body parts. Its existence brings to mind Thomas Jefferson’s warning: “I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever.”
Over fifty leading American universities are involved in purchasing and studying murdered baby parts. These institutions of supposedly “higher” learning include Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford and others. Some researchers are actually implanting baby’s organs – like livers – into rodents and re-growing them. And our federal government is part of the Frankenstein act, buying tens of millions of dollars of baby parts from abortion mills like Planned Parenthood.
One of CMP’s videos suggests – as have a number of prior activists’ exposés – that some of the body parts that are bought and sold within this multi-billion dollar industry are actually cut from babies that have been born alive in failed abortions, but then murdered.
Until CMP started publishing its explicit videos, most of the nation was ignorant of the horrors perpetrated within its borders by the baby-killing abortion industry. In fact, even though Planned Parenthood aborts over 300,000 babies per year – far more than any other U.S. group – it had a fairly positive reputation among many Americans. But now that the word is out about what Planned Parenthood is doing behind closed doors, attitudes are changing.
I recently interviewed an investigative journalist who suggested that even her radical, pro-abortion feminist friends are mortified by what the CMP videos have revealed. Other leftists have also abandoned their defense of Planned Parenthood’s gruesome and indefensible treatment of the pre-born and their bodies.
America now sits in the unenviable position of not only being fully informed of the slaughter of innocents within its borders – closing in on 60,000,000 dead as I write this article – but also now being fully informed of the grotesque, multi-billion dollar industry that has grown up around the buying and selling of babies’ corpses and body parts.
If you think what Nazi Germany did was horrible, this is every bit as bad, and in some ways worse. Not only does the American genocide exceed the Nazi death camp toll, any American who spends any time reading the news should now be aware of what is going on with the blessing and complicity of the federal government. No one should be ignorant. There are no longer any walls around the American death camps.
By the way, if anyone reading this is thinking that abortion is no big deal, that the fetus being killed is just a blob of flesh, is not conscience, or feels no pain, let me disabuse you of that abortionist lie: unborn babies, particularly in the first several months of life, feel pain more intensely than we do. Why? Because they have not developed pain inhibitors. Listen to the Director for Human Dignity at the Family Research Council explain this horrible reality:
Perhaps the best way to consider what really happens with legal abortion is to think about your arms, legs, and other appendages being ripped off one by one. And then try to conceive of the pain associated with such horror and multiply it. If you could really imagine such terror, you would still only get a fraction of what Planned Parenthood’s babies are subject to.
Abortion and the trade of fetal parts is morally repugnant and must be stopped. And the multi-billion dollar industry that has grown up around it must be exposed and banned.
But how do we do this? Planned Parenthood receives most of its funding from the federal government (over 40%) and corporate sources (over 25%). You would think that given the recent publicity surrounding Planned Parenthood’s body harvesting and its central role in the trade of baby parts that politicians and corporate sponsors would run as fast as they could from this bloody organization. But precisely the opposite has happened.
Republicans-in-name-only, chiefly Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, stopped a Planned Parenthood defunding bill that was attached to must-pass legislation. Later, he allowed a defunding vote when it was a stand-alone bill and had absolutely no chance of surviving a presidential veto. Yet, even with this charade, the U.S. Senate couldn’t muster the votes on cloture to get the measure through to the floor for an up or down vote.
Corporate America has had an even worse reaction. Although three major companies (Ford, Xerox, and Coca Cola) demanded that Planned Parenthood “de-list” them as corporate sponsors (they formerly matched employee donations to Planned Parenthood but apparently no longer do), other corporations doubled down.
According to the magazine Fortune, corporate donations to Planned Parenthood in the wake of the horrific videos have actually increased. Fortune could not identify any corporate donors who had pulled the plug. In fact, a number of corporations publicly endorsed Planned Parenthood despite the exposure of its barbaric practices.
It is imperative that We the People act where we can. An effective start would be to stop – TODAY – purchasing any product, or having any account, with any corporate entity that helps fund Planned Parenthood. Pro-life Alaskans should also write the corporate boards of the donor companies, and the management of their branch offices in Alaska. Finally, we must have a position of NO compromise when it comes to our political candidates and elected leaders. If any politician supports Planned Parenthood and/or abortion, you should NEVER vote for them, no matter their opponent.
It is critical that we act now. The future of our nation, our state, and our children – born and unborn -depend on it.

A former Pentagon official is slamming Obama administration policies on ISIS and Cuba as the terrorists reportedly deploy chemical weapons against Kurdish enemies and the United States re-opens its embassy in Cuba, saying the president and his team are deliberately working against the best interests of the country.
“They’re eager to do this because no one else believes that it is in the United States’ best interest. They want to go against the United States’ best interests,” said Jed Babbin, who served as a deputy undersecretary of defense in the George H.W. Bush administration. He is now an author and columnist.
When pressed to explain that comment, Babbin doubled down.
“I mean what I said. These people, this administration, has a track record of doing a lot of things that are not in the United States’ best interests,” he said, asserting that American policy on ISIS and Cuba are two prime examples.

“Politicians are having fun on our dime while the world is burning.” That’s the hard-hitting message of a new video ad Donald Trump just posted on his Instagram account — a short but incendiary piece that links a golfing Barack Obama and a dancing Hillary Clinton with the brutality of Islamic terrorism in the Middle East.
The 15-second campaign video is accompanied by a 4-word pledge from the Republican presidential contender: “Not under my watch.”
As described in an article in The Daily Mail, the video presents Trump’s contention that “Washington insiders are standing blithely by while ISIS and other forces bent on America’s destruction make global inroads.”

NBC News points out that Trump has been a vocal critic of the Obama administration’s policies toward radical Islam and its threat to the world. Trump has said, “he has a ‘foolproof’ plan to defeat ISIS, but added that he wouldn’t share it because ‘I don’t want the enemy to know what I’m doing.’”
Shown in survey after survey to be leading the Republican field of 17 candidates vying for the party’s 2016 nomination, Trump just scored another polling win in Alabama. “If this was on her server and it got into her smart phone, there’s a big problem there,” Baer said during an appearance on CNN International Saturday, noting that the sensitivity of the information reportedly found on Clinton’s private server was likely more secret than what Edward Snowden pilfered.
“Seriously, if I had sent a document like this over the open Internet I’d get fired the same day, escorted to the door and gone for good — and probably charged with mishandling classified information,” Baer said. Number of Hillary Clinton’s Emails Flagged for Classified Data Has Grown to This Number

While media coverage has focused on a half-dozen of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s personal emails containing sensitive intelligence, the total number of her private emails identified by an ongoing State Department review as having contained classified data has ballooned to 60, officials told The Washington Times.
That figure is current through the end of July and is likely to grow as officials wade through a total of 30,000 work-related emails that passed through her personal email server, officials said. The process is expected to take months.
The 60 emails are among those that have been reviewed and cleared for release under the Freedom of Information Act as part of a open-records lawsuit. Some of the emails have multiple redactions for classified information.
Among the first 60 flagged emails, nearly all contained classified secrets at the lowest level of “confidential” and one contained information at the intermediate level of “secret,” officials told the Times.
Those 60 emails do not include two emails identified in recent days by Intelligence Community Inspector General I. Charles McCullough III as containing “top-secret” information possibly derived from Pentagon satellites, drones or intercepts, which is some of the nation’s most sensitive secrets. A recent Gallup poll shows growing support for polygamy in America. From 2006 to 2015 support for multiple marriage partners has jumped from 6 to 14 percent as more people think we should be able to marry whoever we want and however many we want — it is our right.
In writing his dissent of the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage across America, Chief Justice John Roberts warned that by changing the fundamental definition of marriage, the justices had opened the door to redefining other vital components of matrimony.
“It is striking how much of the majority’s reasoning would apply with equal force to the claim of a fundamental right to plural marriage,” the chief justice said.
In the future, one could imagine that those who oppose polygamy will be labeled bigots and accused of fanning flames of hatred. The dispute, however, isn’t really about bigotry but about the definition of marriage, which has long been understood as a partnership between a man and a woman, requiring sexual exclusivity and oriented to the birthing and rearing of children, even if children do not always result.
Polygamists, though, maintain that it makes no difference how many fathers or mothers comprise a family, so long as children are loved. But children are harmed because they are often set in perennial rivalry with other children and mothers for the affection and attention of the family patriarch. They are deprived of healthy models of authority and liberty, equality and charity, marital love and fidelity, which are essential to their development as future spouses, citizens and community leaders. There is a confusion about who is really caring for them, which mom or which dad. Ultimately if we believe in the definition of family which has one father and one mother then anything that opposes this God-created reality will negatively affect a child’s development.
Some may point out that the number of American polygamists is so small that changing the law won’t impact the wider culture or the vast majority who support traditional marriage.
So what real difference does it make when a society redefines marriage to fit a new cultural norm? Well it certainly impacts what is taught in schools and promoted and enforced by law.
One could imagine the day when vocal opposition to polygamy could result in legal penalties, including fines and even imprisonment just like we are now seeing happening to people whose faith affirms that marriage can only be between one man and one woman. The answer is to continue to affirm traditional beliefs about marriage and promote the conception of marriage that is best for society, children and married couples.
Ultimately marriage is not a private or even religious matter, nor is it a right to be won by the courts. In truth, marriage should be seen in its fundamental definition and purpose — which brings great benefits to society.
In this light it is the duty of the state to protect but not redefine marriage for it is not created by either the church or the state and neither has the right to change it.
Any government wishing to overturn the fundamental institution of marriage as the union of one man and one woman in lifelong unity to protect and promote the nurturing of children should not be surprised if it receives an impassioned response from society. To Zachary Hammond’s supporters, the shooting death of the 19-year-old man was yet another example of questionable police behavior that has shaken communities around the country.
In their view, the police in Seneca, S.C., falsely claimed Mr. Hammond was shot last month as he tried to drive his car over the officer who fired on him, when his wounds show he was actually shot from the side and back.
They also say the deadly confrontation, in which officers approached with their guns drawn and screaming profanities, evolved from an absurd sting effort to trap his date into selling a tiny amount of marijuana, a drug now decriminalized in much of the country.
Yet the case has not received as much attention as the officer-involved shooting deaths of Walter L. Scott in North Charleston, S.C., or Samuel DuBose, a motorist who was killed in Cincinnati. Like both of those men, Mr. Hammond was apparently unarmed.

U.S. Senator Jeff Flake announced his opposition on Saturday to the nuclear deal with Iran despite White House lobbying to try to convince the Arizona Republican to break from others in his party and back the accord when U.S. lawmakers vote on it.
The agreement that Iran reached with the United States and other world powers on July 14 “does contain benefits in terms of limiting Iran’s ability to produce sufficient fissile material for a nuclear weapon for a period of time, particularly at its known nuclear facilities,” Flake said in a statement.
“But these benefits are outweighed by severe limitations the (agreement) places on Congress and future administrations in responding to Iran’s non-nuclear behavior in the region,” Flake added.
The White House had held out some hope that Flake, a Senate Foreign Relations Committee member, would buck his party and possibly bring some other Republicans with him in support of the agreement.
Flake was the only Republican lawmaker who traveled with President Barack Obama to Africa in July. White House officials lobbied him during that trip to support the deal. Flake had backed Obama’s moves on another important foreign policy initiative, establishing warmer relations with Cuba.
