Six United States Senators Are ALL in for Socialized Medicine

Six U.S. Senators are now championing a bill for socialized medicine in the United States of America.

Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D.-N.Y., have declared their intentions to become the latest co-sponsors of a “Medicare for all” bill being introduced into the Senate by former Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. The bill would create a national single-payer health care system in the U.S.

“Health care should be a right for every single American, not a privilege reserved for the healthy and the wealthy,” Merkley said in a statement explaining his support for the legislation. He and Gillibrand join fellow Democrats Cory Booker, D-N.J., Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Kamala Harris, D-Calif., in support of Sanders’ legislation. All three are speculative candidates for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

Senator Sanders thanked Merkley for his support.

It’s not just the Senate. A companion bill in the U.S. House introduced by Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., has attracted 177 Democratic co-sponsors, nearly two-thirds of the caucus.

Why the surge in popularity for socialized medicine among Democrats? Pushing for a single-payer system was once a third rail of American politics. Democratic activists believe the GOP’s failed attempt to repeal Obamacare has strengthened the resolve of the nation’s leftists.

Working Families Party national director Dan Cantor told CNN, “In the end, the biggest impact of the Republicans’ attack on health care may be this: It has strengthened the resolve of many, many Americans to fight for health care for all.”

The Overton window has shifted. The Republicans’ self-inflicted defeat and their unwillingness to keep their Obamacare repeal promises have opened the door for a push for single-payer health care. Conservatives warned that Obamacare was always a stepping stone towards a single-payer system. With our health insurance markets collapsing under Obamacare’s weight, the Democrats are seizing the opportunity, as they always do, to push the country further left.

Is there an opposition party competent enough to stop them? (For more from the author of “Six United States Senators Are ALL in for Socialized Medicine” please click HERE)

Black Lives Matter Targets Jefferson Monument in Charlottesville

The divide over statues and monuments in Charlottesville, Va., appears far from over.

Just one month after a demonstration over plans to remove a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee turned violent, resulting in a woman’s death, a different group of protesters has targeted a statue of U.S. Founding Father Thomas Jefferson.

The Thomas Jefferson Monument, which sits just outside a rotunda at the University of Virginia — which Jefferson also founded — was cloaked in black Tuesday evening, and adorned with signs reading “Black Lives Matter” and “TJ is a racist,” local media reported.

Nearly 100 students came together to deface the statue, chanting, “No Trump, No KKK, no racist U-V-A,” the Washington Times reported. (Read more from “Black Lives Matter Targets Jefferson Monument in Charlottesville” HERE)

SHOCKER: Absurdly Expensive College Faces $5 MILLION Budget Crisis After Radical Loons Run Wild

Yet another American college is suffering an “unexpected” plunge in enrollment and a massive budget deficit after a series of outbursts by radical fringe protesters and professors.

This time, the school is Oberlin College, a private, 2,900-student enclave of progressivism in small-town Ohio where the cost for a single year of tuition, fees and room and board is $69,372.

Oberlin is facing a $5 million budget shortfall for the 2017–2018 academic year due to lower student enrollment and a related drop in revenue, reports The Oberlin Review, the student newspaper.

The chairman of Oberlin’s board of trustees, Chris Canavan, announced the financial woes in an email sent to professors and administrators this summer. The student newspaper obtained and published the full email late last week. (Read more from “SHOCKER: Absurdly Expensive College Faces $5 MILLION Budget Crisis After Radical Loons Run Wild” HERE)

Guess How Much Sanders’ Campaign Is in Debt

Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign currently owes a disputed $450,000 to the various municipalities the Vermont lawmaker visited throughout the race.

Sanders’ campaign has reportedly failed to make good on hundreds of thousands of dollars in event security costs owed to dozens of cities and their police departments.

TSA Agent Touches Passengers Crotch 8 Times

. . .For those curious about what the “enhanced” pat-down involves, I had a first-hand experience (no pun intended) Sunday evening September 10 in the Kansas City airport. (This is going exactly where you think it’s going, so feel free to stop reading right now.)

After going through a metal detector in the TSA-Pre security line, I was randomly selected to see if a machine would detect explosives on my hands. My palms were swabbed and the machine detected explosives, even though I had not recently handled a gun, flammable liquids, or any sort of explosives. Another airline passenger told me the same machine had detected explosives on the hands of another passenger who had gone through the line minutes before I did . . .

For what it’s worth, this isn’t the story of an agent who didn’t know how to do a pat-down. The agent described exactly what he was going to do before he did it and seemed to be simply carrying out the government’s policy. I’m sure he’d like a job that involves less groping.

I’m not a crazy ACLU-type. I’ve had no problem with body-scanners or previous TSA pat-downs. In 2009, a terrorist famously smuggled a bomb in his underwear aboard a U.S. flight. But an agent of the state should probably only touch a citizen’s genitals seven or eight times if the agent has reasonable suspicion, and not because a machine is malfunctioning or calibrated, intentionally or unintentionally, to detect explosives on everyone who is tested. Can Feds Stop Pro-Lifers From Being Forced to Promote Abortion?

The federal government is being asked to rein in state and local demands that pregnancy centers and others promote abortion, even if they have religious objections to the destruction of unborn children.

The dispute popped up in a number of states after pro-abortion state lawmakers and other regulators decided that everyone must promote abortion and set up a requirement that pregnancy care centers do just that.

But that demand, contends the Alliance Defending Freedom, is unconstitutional.

The organization revealed Tuesday it has filed complaints with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services over the cases in Illinois and Hawaii.

The organization confirmed the federal Church and Weldon amendments do not allow states that receive federal funding “to compel medical personal to operate contrary to their conscience or religious beliefs.” (Read more from “Can Feds Stop Pro-Lifers From Being Forced to Promote Abortion?” HERE)

Hurricane Telethon Gets Political

Singer Stevie Wonder kicked off Tuesday’s star studded Hand In Hand telethon to raise money for hurricane recovery by getting political. Wonder started the show by saying, “Anyone who believes that there’s no such thing as global warming must be blind or unintelligent.”

The Hand In Hand telethon was run on every broadcast network to benefit victims of hurricanes Harvey, which devastated the Houston area, and Irma, which slammed Florida over the weekend. The event mirrors past telethons for natural disasters.

The 2005 telethon to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina became known for Kanye West’s infamous anti-President George W. Bush comments. “George Bush doesn’t care about black people,” West said as a stunned Mike Meyers looked on.

In addition to musical performances, celebrities took phone calls during Tuesday’s telethon from people making pledges to help those in need. (Read more from “Hurricane Telethon Gets Political” HERE)

Seattle’s ‘Gay’ Mayor Resigns After 5th Child-Rape Allegation

For five months, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray rejected calls for his resignation amid allegations he sexually abused teens decades before entering politics.

But Murray couldn’t withstand a devastating new allegation from within his own family.

He announced his resignation Tuesday, hours after news emerged that a younger cousin was publicly accusing Murray of molesting him in New York in the 1970s.

Murray, a former Democratic state legislator elected mayor in 2013, didn’t appear in public to make the announcement. Instead, he issued a statement saying his resignation would be effective 5 p.m. Wednesday. (Read more from “Seattle’s ‘Gay’ Mayor Resigns After 5th Child-Rape Allegation” HERE)

Hillary Says Media Coverage Is ‘Biased’ Against Democrats

The former Democratic Party presidential nominee actually believes most media coverage is biased against Democrats . . .

linton made her argument Tuesday during a “Pod Save America” podcast, which is put on by four former aides to President Obama: Jon Favreau, Dan Pfeiffer, Jon Lovette and Tommy Vietor. She claimed Democrats are at a “disadvantage” when it comes to news reporting.

“I think we are facing a couple of very difficult obstacles,” she said. “First, the other side has dedicated propaganda channels. That’s what I call Fox News. It has outlets like Breitbart and crazy Infowars and things like that. In this particular election, it was aided and abetted by the Russians and the role that Facebook and other platforms played. We are late to that. You know, we did not understand how a reality TV campaign would so dominate the media environment. And I confess, I was trying to do everything I could to build on the success of President Obama’s campaign. I had a lot of people you guys know involved in the campaign. We were really proud of it, but boy it was tough to break through.

“So I think the Democrats can do a lot, but they are still going to face a very difficult media environment. And we’ve got to figure out how we’re going to break through. I mean, obviously, more podcasts, more other ways of communicating so voices can be heard and real positions can be understood is part of it. But we’re still at a disadvantage.” (Read more from “Hillary Says Media Coverage Is ‘Biased’ Against Democrats” HERE)

Ted Cruz Blames Staffer ‘Liking’ Porn Tweet

Sen. Ted Cruz said Tuesday that a staff member of his was responsible for “liking” a pornographic Twitter post with the Texas lawmaker’s account, chalking up the social media snafu to a “mistake.”

“There are a number of people on the team who have access on the account. It appears that someone inadvertently hit the like button. When we discovered the post, which was I guess an hour or two later, we pulled it down,” Cruz (R-Texas) said of the incident. “It was a staffing issue. And it was inadvertent, it was a mistake. It was not a deliberate act. We’re dealing with it internally, but it was a mistake. It was not malicious” . . .

Earlier Tuesday, a spokeswoman for Cruz announced via her own Twitter account that the “like” had been undone and that the post had been reported to Twitter.

“The offensive tweet posted on @tedcruz account earlier has been removed by staff and reported to Twitter,” Catherine Frazier, Cruz’s senior communications adviser, wrote on her Twitter account at 2:16 a.m. Tuesday morning. (Read more from “Ted Cruz Blames Staffer ‘Liking’ Porn Tweet” HERE)
