Bernie Addresses Anti-Gun Teenagers… While Surrounded by Armed Guards

On Wednesday, Bernie Sanders, who has captured the imagination of impressionable, gullible teenagers and young adults with his paeans to socialism, decided to seize the moment and join students who left their high schools to demonstrate in favor of gun control.

As would be expected, there were calls to ban guns outright:

Sanders himself has constantly hedged his bets regarding guns; on the one hand, he said in 2016, “Do I think the victims of a crime with a gun should be able to sue the manufacturer? No, I don’t.” (Read more from “Bernie Addresses Anti-Gun Teenagers… While Surrounded by Armed Guards” HERE)

Twitter Suspends Steven Crowder for Undercover LGBTQ Video

Crowder suspended … Last night Steven Crowder uploaded a portion of his CRTV show “Louder with Crowder” to social media, including Twitter. The segment focused on an undercover turn by a show intern, who crashed an LGBTQ meetup at SXSW. Crowder’s tweet text accompanying the video said:

New MEGA-VIDEO up! HIDDEN CAM: Intern Crashes LGBTQ #SxSW Meetup! #LwC #MugClub Watch Now ==>

For that tweet, Crowder got a 12-hour suspension from Twitter. The video was edited to attempt to conform to Twitter’s standards and uploaded again. For that, Crowder’s account has been suspended from Twitter for seven days. LwC team member Courtney Kirchoff has all the details about what has happened. A #FreeCrowder campaign has been started on Twitter to get the suspension overturned.

The Khan effect … Coincidence or not? The undercover video that got Crowder suspended was filmed at the annual SXSW conference in Austin, Texas. Yesterday at that same conference, London Mayor Sadiq Khan gave a speech calling on tech companies to censor what he termed hateful content. Khan read a series of racist tweets aimed at himself. Step back and think about what Khan did. The mayor of the capital of the United Kingdom, the home of Magna Carta and the notion of individual liberty, has used the power of his government office to press for the censoring of speech. That’s obnoxious. Then a few hours later, one of those tech giants banned Steven Crowder for content they don’t approve of.

Choosing sides … This morning, millions of children at thousands of schools took part in a nationwide walkout in support of infringing on the constitutional rights of their fellow citizens. In support of this action, organized by the Women’s March, Viacom decided to have its cable networks suspend programming for 17 minutes. The number 17 was chosen because it is the number of students murdered in Parkland. The following message was broadcast on Comedy Central during the time:

VIACOM STANDS WITH ALL STUDENTS AS THEY PARTICIPATE IN THE NATIONAL SCHOOL WALKOUT AGAINST GUN VIOLENCE.

MTV showed photos of the victims with no sound. Even the country music-focused network CMT went dark. Viacom has every right to support whichever causes it chooses. But the inclusion of a network like CMT that caters to rural America, where gun ownership rates are higher, doesn’t seem like the best business decision.

Truth from Vox … One of the unending refrains of gun control proponents is that “nobody wants to take away all your guns.” That, of course, is a false statement; it is exactly what they want. Today at Vox, Dylan Matthews proves that unequivocally. His thesis is that in order for the U.S. to see gun violence levels like those of Europe, it will require the confiscation of guns.

Mika breaks down … In a segment of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Mika Brzezinski had a little mental breakdown as a panel discussed President Donald Trump’s trip to the border in San Diego to inspect prototype sections of the border wall. According to NewsBusters, Mika stumbled and fumbled her way through commenting on the piece. It really is an amazing clip to watch. She just doesn’t get why Trump’s plainspoken words resonate with vast parts of the country. PA Election Recount Likely — Reports of Bizarre Voting Machine Behavior

The Pennsylvania special election for congressional district 18 may be heading to a recount, with just hundreds of votes separating the Republican and Democrat candidates and irregularities alleged in Democrat heavy Allegheny County.

As of Wednesday, 627 votes (0.2 percent) separate Republican Rick Saccone and Democrat Conor Lamb, the New York Times reported.

With hundreds of absentee ballots and an undetermined number of military and provisional ballots yet to be counted, the race is still too close to call.

Lamb claimed victory early Wednesday morning, while Saccone stated, “We are still fighting the fight. It is not over.”

The Republican state representative noted many of his previous wins were by narrow margins, so he is prepared to go the distance until all the ballots are counted.

Fox News reported that Republican attorneys are planning to go to court on Wednesday to demand an impounding of all the ballots and voting machines used in the race, in preparation for a potential recount.

The lawyers plan to make multiple complaints that could form the basis of their recount.

One involves allegations that touch screen machines used in heavily Democrat Allegheny County, bordering Pittsburgh, were not calibrated correctly, registering votes for Lamb that were meant for Saccone. Lamb carried the county, but not the other three counties found in the district, which trend moderate to conservative.

The GOP also claims that their representatives were blocked from observing the absentee ballot count in Allegheny County.

Pennsylvania law makes provision for a recount, but it requires three voters in each precinct who can attest to error or fraud in the election.

Trump won the congressional district by 20 points in 2016; however, the blue collar coalition that supported the outsider candidate was split by Lamb.

Labor unions, including the United Steelworkers and the United Mine Workers, campaigned heavily for the Democrat and against Saccone who has expressed support for right to work laws, according to CNN.

“The labor unions were very energized and were doing their best to organize the rank and file,” Pennsylvania-based Republican strategist Charlie Gerow told The Western Journal.

He added, “How much of the rank and file fell in behind labor unions remains to be seen, but certainly organized labor played an important role in that special election because they were providing the energy and the organizational base for Conor Lamb.”

Lamb aligned himself with Trump on several issues including the Second Amendment, trade, and opposition to the Washington Democrat establishment.

“If the Conor Lamb lead holds up, it’s proof that all politics is local, because here was a Democratic candidate that tailored himself to that district, making himself sound much more like Donald Trump than Nancy Pelosi,” said Gerow. “And in fact saying, he won’t vote for Nancy Pelosi when he gets to Washington.”

Republican National Committee spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany shares this assessment of Lamb’s candidacy.

“He’s pro-gun. He says he’s personally pro-life. He says he’s pro-coal, he’s pro-tariff. He says he’s anti-Nancy Pelosi,” she told ABC News ahead of the election results Tuesday.

“Imagine that, a Democratic candidate who’s against Nancy Pelosi, the minority leader,” she said. “He has made himself into essentially a Republican. So you have a Republican in name and a Republican in truth running against one another.” (For more from the author of “PA Election Recount Likely — Reports of Bizarre Voting Machine Behavior” please click HERE)

Nanny State Kills Bill to Let Dying Patients Use Non-Gov’t Approved Treatments

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill narrowly defeated a bill that would have allowed terminally ill patients who have exhausted other treatments to access drugs and therapies even without full Food and Drug Administration approval.

According to National Review, the so-called “Right to Try” legislation missed the two-thirds majority vote required for passage. A Senate version of the bill has already been passed.

Under the bill’s provision, qualifying patients would legally have access to pharmaceuticals with at least Phase 1 approval in clinical studies. The legislation would not, however, compel drug companies to make their products available to patients seeking them.

The bill has found support among many conservative groups, including the Goldwater Institute. That organization’s president and CEO said the House vote is a roadblock, not a deterrent, in the ultimate goal of securing the right of Americans to “exercise their freedom to fight to live.”

Victor Riches said the failure of supporters to pass the legislation is the result of “scare tactics, falsehoods, and innuendo” from lobbyists seeking to defeat it.

A letter signed by dozens of organizations and sent to congressmen urged them to vote against the bill, suggesting its passage would “likely do more harm than good.”

For its proponents, however, the idea of providing people hope in an otherwise desperate situation is worth dismissing concerns that “Right to Try” could potentially undermine the FDA’s regulatory power.

GOP Rep. Joe Barton of Texas responded to those who say the bill can give people false hope that a miracle drug might save their lives.

“When you have no hope, perhaps false hope is better than no hope at all,” he said.

According to Barton, he holds that position despite having seen his brother die after entering a trial involving an experimental medication.

“Give hope a chance,” the congressman said, echoing the sentiment of many supporters.

Frank Mongiello, who is living with Lou Gehrig’s disease, emphasized the importance of hope to individuals with terminal illnesses.

“There is no such thing as false hope,” he said. “Because while there is breath, there is hope.”

The concept behind the “Right to Try” bill has been endorsed by numerous GOP leaders, including President Donald Trump, who addressed the issue in his State of the Union speech earlier this year, according to Fox News.

“Patients with terminal conditions, terminal illness, should have access to experimental treatment immediately that could potentially save their lives,” he said.

Vice President Mike Pence has also been clear in expressing his support, including in a tweet he posted in January.

Citing a meeting with Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, Pence offered a firm endorsement of the proposal.

“Let’s get this DONE,” he wrote.

According to an FDA spokesperson, Gottlieb and Pence discussed “how to advance this measure in a way that protects patients and provides them with the potentially lifesaving opportunities they deserve.” (For more from the author of “Nanny State Kills Bill to Let Dying Patients Use Non-Gov’t Approved Treatments” please click HERE)

E-Cigarettes Full of Cancer-Causing Toxins

Smoking e-cigarettes delivers cancer-causing chemicals that get into the body — and popular fruity flavors appear to be the worst, researchers reported Monday.

They said teenagers who try vaping may be poisoning themselves with many of the same chemicals that make traditional cigarettes so deadly.

Tests on teenagers show that those who smoke tobacco-based cigarettes as well have the highest levels of these chemicals in their bodies, but those who vape e-cigarettes also have higher levels of the cancer-causing chemicals than nonsmokers do, the team at the University of California, San Francisco, found.

“The presence of harmful ingredients in e-cigarette vapor has been established‍; we can now say that these chemicals are found in the body of human adolescents who use these products,” they wrote in their report, published in the journal Pediatrics.

E-cigarettes use a device that delivers fluid laced with nicotine and flavors, creating a smoke-like haze. (Read more from “E-Cigarettes Full of Cancer-Causing Toxins” HERE)

Teen Stabs 3 People for Islam – FBI Had Been Warned Prior

A teenage Muslim spending the night with friends stabbed three people, killing one, “because of his Muslim faith,” according to police in Florida.

The suspect read the Quran “to give him courage to carry out his intentions,” according to an affidavit.

Police reports indicate the FBI had the teen under surveillance for a year and was preparing affavadits to bring charges against him for threats and attempts to contact ISIS.

The details of the crime come from Local10.com Managing Editor Peter Burke, who reported 17-year-old Corey Johnson now faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder for the early Monday stabbings at the BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens.

Police said officers arrived at the home after a 911 call and found Elaine Simon and her son, Dane Bancroft, 13, suffering from stab wounds. They were treated for their injuries. (Read more from “Teen Stabs 3 People for Islam – FBI Had Been Warned Prior” HERE)

Navy Moves to Approve Atheist Chaplain Who Attacked Billy Graham After Passing

Within a week of re-assigning (and possibly firing) one chaplain for expressing traditionalist Christian beliefs, the Navy is seriously considering the approval of an avowed “non-theistic humanist” for a spot in its Chaplain Corps.

Conservative U.S. House and Senate members are formally urging the Navy not to approve the atheist for the post, noting the Navy can provide all sorts of other programs for non-believers without altering the mission of the long-established Chaplain Corps.

The secular-humanist applicant is Dr. Jason Heap – described by ConservativeHQ.com as a “militant atheist” – the executive director of the United Coalition of Reason who had sued the Navy in 2014 when it rejected his earlier application to become a Navy chaplain. . .

He and his supporters, including prominent atheist groups, say that non-theistic service members may need the confidentiality in seeking counseling that only a chaplaincy can provide.

And this time, the Navy Chaplain Appointment and Retention Eligibility Advisory group actually has recommended that Heap be approved. (Read more from “Navy Moves to Approve Atheist Chaplain Who Attacked Billy Graham After Passing” HERE)

Science Teacher Feeds Puppy to Turtle in Front of Children

A junior high school teacher is under investigation after what school officials are calling a ‘regrettable’ situation.

Robert Crosland has taught science at Preston Junior High School for years, EastIdahoNews.com reported. In a news release, Preston School District 201 Superintendent Marc Gee says his administration became aware of “a regrettable circumstance involving some of the biological specimens” on March 7.

According to a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation, Crosland fed a puppy to a snapping turtle after class. A school official, who declined to be named, confirmed students witnessed the incident after class, but did not confirm how many.

“The event occurred well after students had been dismissed and was not a part of any school-directed program,” Gee said in a news release. “We emphasize that at no time was the safety of students or staff compromised.”

It’s unclear if the dog was alive or dead when Crosland fed it to the turtle. Administrators began investigating the incident immediately, according to Gee, and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was contacted. Crosland has not been cited or charged and has not been placed on leave, Gee said. (Read more from “Science Teacher Feeds Puppy to Turtle in Front of Children” HERE)

Russia Could Use Chemical Weapons in New York

It could happen in New York City: Russia could use one of the deadliest chemical weapons ever made to murder people in the city streets if Moscow is not punished for its alleged attacks on British soil.

That’s the warning issued Wednesday by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.

“If we don’t take immediate concrete measures to address this now, Salisbury will not be the last place we see chemical weapons used,” Haley told the United Nations Security Council. “They could be used here in New York, or in cities of any country that sits on this Council. This is a defining moment.”

Haley’s comments were made during an emergency council hearing that was requested by British officials who say Russia used a “military-grade nerve agent” when it attempted to murder Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia, on British soil.

The chemical weapon, known as Novichok, is extremely lethal and extraordinarily rare to find outside of Russia. Novichok, or “newcomer” in Russian, is a chemical developed by the Soviet Union in secret during the Cold War. It was created for the purpose of countering U.S. chemical weapons. Student Video Goes Viral for Being Lone Participant in School’s National School Walkout

A video from a North Carolina high school student went viral Wednesday after the 16-year-old filmed himself as the only student from his school participating in National Walkout Day, The Hill reported.

Justin Blackman, 16, was the only one at Wilson Preparatory Academy, which is east of Raleigh, to participate in the nation-wide movement organized in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre in Florida.

“It’s National Walkout Day,” Blackman says in a video he tweeted. “I’m the only one in my school out here. No one here but me. They didn’t really get into it too much. No one really said anything.”

Despite being alone in the protest, Blackman received support on social media from celebrities and gun reform advocates . . .

By Wednesday evening Blackman’s video had been viewed more than 3.87 million times and retweeted 42,000 times and liked more than 212,000 times. (Read more from “Student Video Goes Viral for Being Lone Participant in School’s National School Walkout” HERE)
