2020 Census Will Include Citizenship Question and One State in Particular Is Freaking Out

By Bizpac Review. The “sanctuary state” of California plans to file a lawsuit to block the Trump administration’s move to include a question about citizenship on the 2020 Census.

“Including a citizenship question on the 2020 census is not just a bad idea — it is illegal,” California attorney general Xavier Becerra claimed on Twitter.

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said the citizenship question is necessary to obtain “complete and accurate data” about voter makeup in the country. He explained in a letter:

“The decennial census is mandated in the Constitution and its data are relied on for a myriad of important government decisions, including apportionment of Congressional seats among states, enforcement of voting rights laws, and allocation of federal funds. These are foundational elements of our democracy, and it is therefore incumbent upon the Department and the Census Bureau to make every effort to provide a complete and accurate decennial census.

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the question should be included in the 2020 Census to stem voter fraud and to better appropriate federal funding to states. (Read more from “2020 Census Will Include Citizenship Question and One State in Particular Is Freaking Out” HERE)

2020 Census Will Ask About Respondents’ Citizenship Status

By NPR. The U.S. Commerce Department announced late Monday that it will restore a question about citizenship to the 2020 census questionnaire.

In an eight-page memo Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross says the Justice Department has requested that the census ask who is a citizen in order to help determine possible violations of the Voting Rights Act, to help enforce that law . . .

The last time a question about citizenship was included in the census questionnaire was 1950. Such a question is posed in the annual American Community Survey which covers about 3.5 million people . . .

And, Democratic Rep. Grace Meng of New York issued a statement: “I am deeply disappointed with Secretary Ross, and I will now look to introduce legislation to stop this question from being included on the census.”

As Hansi reported in January, civil rights groups dispute the Justice Department’s need for the data from a citizenship question to help enforce the Voting Rights Act. (Read more from “2020 Census Will Ask About Respondents’ Citizenship Status” HERE)

Planned Parenthood: ‘We Need a Disney Princess Who’s Had an Abortion’

By Life Site News. A Planned Parenthood affiliate in Pennsylvania called for a Disney princess who not only supports abortion, but who has had one.

“We need a disney princess who’s had an abortion We need a disney princess who’s pro-choice,” read a tweet from Planned Parenthood Keystone’s official Twitter account, published Tuesday morning. It has since been deleted, but a screenshot of the tweet is preserved below.

The message also calls for a transgendered Disney princess, as well as “union worker” and “undocumented immigrant” princesses.

Planned Parenthood Keystone has not referenced the tweet or its deletion on its Twitter account as of the time of this writing, and neither it nor the national organization replied to the Wrap’s request for comment. Planned Parenthood Called for Disney Princess ‘Who’s Had an Abortion’ in Now-Deleted Tweet

By USA Today. A Planned Parenthood branch in Pennsylvania called for the Walt Disney Co. to create an animated princess “who’s had an abortion” in a since-deleted tweet posted Tuesday.

Planned Parenthood Keystone, a branch of the health service provider based in Trexlertown, Pa., tweeted that, “We need a disney princess who’s had an abortion / We need a disney princess who’s pro-choice / We need a disney princess who’s an undocumented immigrant / We need a disney princess who’s actually a union worker / We need a disney princess who’s trans”.

The tweet’s construction riffed on a recently popular Twitter meme that imagines new animated princesses with traits serious and not. The non-profit Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine — which archives snapshots of sites across the web — shows it stored six captures of the tweet on Tuesday. Planned Parenthood’s national office confirmed the tweet and its deletion in an email to USA TODAY.

“Today, we joined an ongoing Twitter conversation about the kinds of princesses people want to see in an attempt to make a point about the importance of telling stories that challenge stigma and championing stories that too often don’t get told,” said Melissa Reed, Planned Parenthood’s president and CEO. “Upon reflection, we decided that the seriousness of the point we were trying to make was not appropriate for the subject matter or context, and we removed the tweet.”

The tweet triggered a slew of feedback online from users replying to a now-vanished post. Some took screenshots of the tweet before its deletion.

This Is Why President Trump Just Booted 60 Russian Diplomats and Spies

The White House announced Monday that 60 Russian diplomats have been ordered to leave the country immediately, showing the consequences for Moscow’s alleged actions in attempting to assassinate a former spy in the United Kingdom.

Earlier this month, Sergei Skripal — a former Russian military officer who became a double agent for British intelligence — and his daughter Yulia were poisoned by an advanced nerve agent. U.K. authorities believe that Skripal was attacked with Novichok, a nerve weapon that was created by Soviet scientists and is believed to be up to eight times more powerful than VX. Russia has denied the allegations, as well as claims that Russia has researched and developed the chemical weapon.

The U.S. move will help to reduce Russia’s spy infrastructure inside our country, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders explained.

At least 12 of the 60 “engaged in espionage activities that are adverse to our national security,” the White House added. A senior official further explained that they “abused their privilege of residence.”

It should come as no surprise that Russia moved spies into the United States under diplomatic cover. In fact, every world power, and almost every country with a sophisticated intelligence apparatus, engages in similar espionage operations.

More than anything, the move should be recognized as an action to show solidarity with our western allies. By engaging in what appears to be an attempted assassination on foreign soil, Russia breached international norms that keep world order in check. The Trump administration, following the U.K.’s lead, is punishing Moscow for its rogue behavior.

The administration has also ordered the closure of the Russian consulate in Seattle “due to its proximity to one of our submarine bases and Boeing.”

The submarine base that the administration is most likely referring to is Naval Base Kitsap, which is the third largest naval base in the country, located close to Seattle. The base is the home port for several nuclear and non-nuclear submarines.

Boeing is the second biggest U.S. defense contractor by revenue. Boeing’s Phantom Works, its most secretive research site, is headquartered in the Washington, D.C., area. However, the company also has an advanced research center in Seattle, along with other facilities helping to advance U.S. national security.

The U.K. has expelled 23 Russian “diplomats,” whom the British accuse of being intelligence agents under diplomatic cover. Many other nations have also chosen to expel Russian officials in solidarity with the U.K.’s response.

Time is not on Putin’s side. Other than stirring up nationalist impulses among its citizens, Russia does itself no favors by continuing to increase its isolation and acting as a rogue state. Moscow is already suffering from an economic crisis and a declining population. The last thing Vladimir Putin’s regime needs is further isolation from potential trading partners.

The Trump administration has made it clear that Moscow will not be allowed to disregard international norms without consequences. This may cause Russia to rethink its strategy of constantly interfering in the internal affairs of sovereign states. For seven and a half of former President Obama’s eight years in office, Russia was appeased regardless of its troubling actions abroad. By making this the decision, the Trump White House continues to show that the era of “leading from behind” is over.

The “Trump-Russia” conspiracy theorists at CNN and elsewhere will now have to scramble for new ideas on how to reconcile this move with their position that the White House is controlled by Moscow. A senior U.S. official emphasized to reporters Monday that the decision was the president’s alone. Chemotherapy-Free ‘Cancer Vaccine’ Moves From Mice to Human Trials

By SF Gate. A recent Stanford cancer study that cured 97 percent of mice from tumors has now moved on to soliciting human volunteers for a new cutting-edge medical trial.

The trial is part of a gathering wave of research into immunotherapy, a type of treatment that fights cancer by using the body’s immune system to attack tumors.

“Getting the immune system to fight cancer is one of the most recent developments in cancer,” Dr. Ronald Levy, a Stanford oncology professor who is leading the study, told SFGATE. “People need to know that this is in its early days and we are still looking for safety and looking to make this as good as it can be.”

The treatment is not a true vaccine that creates lasting immunity, but it does feature a vaccine-like injection carrying two immune stimulators that activate the immune system’s T cells to eliminate tumors throughout the body.

Each test subject receives a low dose of radiation plus two rounds of the injected agents, Levy said. No chemotherapy is involved. (Read more from “Chemotherapy-Free ‘Cancer Vaccine’ Moves From Mice to Human Trials” HERE)

Breast Cancer Patients May Avoid Chemo in Future Thanks to Innovative Study by Royal College of Surgeons

By DublinLive. A study from Ireland’s leading medical college has suggested that future cancer patients could avoid chemotherapy using a mathematical formula.

Researchers at the Royal College Of Surgeons say they have come up with the formula, which could predict how chemo would affect patients with an aggressive form of breast cancer.

The RCSI’s Jochen Prehnd saod: “At the moment the only form of drug treatment available to patients with triple-negative breast cancer is chemotherapy. (Read more from “Breast Cancer Patients May Avoid Chemo in Future Thanks to Innovative Study by Royal College of Surgeons” HERE)

Twice Deported Illegal Alien Accused of Raping Teen Released by Sheriff Without Reporting to ICE

By Bizpac Review. An illegal alien accused of raping a young girl was allowed to walk out of a county jail without notification to immigration authorities.

Anastacio Eugenio Lopez Fabian, 24, faced several charges related to sexual relations with a girl under 14 years old, and was ultimately detained by ICE despite a lack of cooperation from a Washington sheriff’s office, the Daily Astorian reports.

Lopez was charged with two counts of second-degree rape, three counts of third-degree rape, fourth-degree assault, and harassment for alleged relations with a minor beginning in 2016.

Police arrested him in February, but he was released the same day after posting $25,000 bail.

On the day Lopez arrived for a hearing at Clatsop County Circuit Court, ICE was on the scene and detained him, transporting him to Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma. (Read more from “Twice Deported Illegal Alien Accused of Raping Teen Released by Sheriff Without Reporting to ICE” HERE)

Suspect Deported Twice Before Alleged Rape of Underage Seaside Girl

By The Daily Astorian. He has been charged with two counts of second-degree rape, three counts of third-degree rape, fourth-degree assault and harassment. A mandatory minimum sentence of more than six years in prison applies to second-degree rape convictions.

ICE detained him in the courthouse parking lot as he arrived for a hearing. He is in custody at the private Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, Washington, according to the federal agency’s records. Fabian was deported to Guatemala in 2013 and 2014, according to a statement from ICE spokeswoman Carissa Cutrell, who also said the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office did not alert the agency of his most recent arrest . . .

Sheriff Tom Bergin said the timing and coordination of Fabian’s initial arrest and release did not allow for his office to notify the agency.

“He posted bail, so there’s not much we can do unless ICE notifies us, which it didn’t,” Bergin said. “ICE puts out a blanket statement every time they do these things because they want to cover their butts. Believe me, we want to hold these guys.”

The federal agency criticized the county last year for not adhering to its requests to detain undocumented immigrants. Bergin pointed to a U.S. District Court case in Portland in which a judge ruled in favor of a woman detained by ICE at a Clackamas County jail, claiming the Fourth Amendment protected her against unreasonable search and seizure. EPIC FAIL: Parkland Student Makes Most False Statement Ever About Second Amendment

On Tuesday, a student from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School made one of the most factually false statements about the Second Amendment in the history of Twitter, which ignited the social media platform into a firestorm.

In a tweet, far-left activist Cameron Kasky claimed: “The first amendment has restrictions. The second amendment has no restrictions. These weapons are not in the hands of “well-regulated” militias. The changes the people are demanding do not desecrate the second amendment, they just make it a safe addition to our constitution.”

Here are just some of the regulations that limit the scope of the Second Amendment

National Firearms Act (NFA) – “The importation of certain firearms, including but not limited to, machineguns, silencers, certain weapons made from rifles or shotguns, and destructive devices is also restricted under the National Firearms Act (NFA). 26 U.S.C. § 5844.”

Arms Export Control Act of 1976 (AECA) – “The importation of certain defense articles to include certain firearms, firearms parts, ammunition and certain other military equipment is subject to the provisions of the Arms Export Control Act of 1976 (AECA). 22 U.S.C. § 2778.”

NRA Gets Flooded With Donations After Being Attacked

By The Daily Wire. On Tuesday, a new report revealed that donations to the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) political action committee significantly increased in February after they were attacked by the media and far-left activists in the wake of the Parkland shooting.

“The PAC raised a total of $779,063 in February and reported $247,985 in donations in January,” an increase of over 300%, The Washington Free Beacon reported.

The massive surge in donations comes after the gun rights group has been viciously attacked by the media and far-left activists like Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student David Hogg, who has referred to the NRA as “child murderers” on multiple occasions. NRA PAC Donations More Than Tripled in February

By Washington Free Beacon. Donations to the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) political action committee more than tripled in February in comparison to its contributions from January, filings show.

The donations increased as liberal activists, politicians, and celebrities have called for more gun control measures and singled out the NRA and Republican politicians who have received support from the group following the Feb. 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., that left 17 dead.

Speakers at the “March for Our Lives” rally this past Saturday in Washington, D.C., continued the push by calling for an AR-15 ban and restrictions on “high capacity magazines.”

Supporters of the NRA appear to have responded by infusing more money into the organization’s political action committee. The NRA’s Political Victory Fund, the group’s PAC, experienced a nearly five-fold increase in itemized donations immediately following the attack, according to the Center for Responsive Politics . . .

For the two-week period prior to the shooting—from Jan. 31 to Feb. 13—the NRA’s PAC received $27,100 from 51 itemized contributions, or large contributions from individuals in the amount of $200 or more. The names, dates, and amounts of the contributions from donors who give more than $200 are included in filings, allowing for a count of large contributors. China Makes Shocking Announcement About North Korean Denuclearization

By The Daily Wire. On Wednesday, China said that it secured a commitment from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to denuclearize the Korean peninsula during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In return, Xi reportedly pledged to uphold China’s close relationship with North Korea during Kim’s visit to China which lasted from Sunday to Wednesday, Reuters reported.

“It is our consistent stand to be committed to denuclearization on the peninsula, in accordance with the will of late President Kim Il Sung and late General Secretary Kim Jong Il,” Kim said, according to Xinhua . . .

Xi said that the decision was a “strategic choice and the only right choice both sides have made based on history and reality, the international and regional structure and the general situation of China-DPRK ties.” . . .

This latest development comes as President Trump is expected to meet with Kim in the next couple of months to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. (Read more from “China Makes Shocking Announcement About North Korean Denuclearization” HERE)

China Says North Korea Pledges Denuclearization During Friendly Visit

By Reuters. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has pledged to denuclearize and meet U.S. officials, China said on Wednesday after an historic meeting with President Xi Jinping, who promised China would uphold its friendship with its isolated neighbor.

The China visit was Kim’s first known trip outside North Korea since he assumed power in 2011 and is believed by analysts to serve as preparation for upcoming summits with South Korea and the United States.

North Korea’s KCNA news agency made no mention of Kim’s pledge to denuclearize, or his anticipated meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump that is planned for some time in May.

Beijing has traditionally been the closest ally of secretive North Korea, but ties have been frayed by Pyongyang’s pursuit of nuclear weapons and China’s backing of tough U.N. sanctions in response.

China’s Foreign Ministry cited Kim in a lengthy statement as telling Xi that the situation on the Korean peninsula was starting to improve because North Korea had taken the initiative to ease tensions and put forward proposals for peace talks. Why Did It Take Two Weeks to Discover Parkland Students’ Astroturfing?

“Can you believe these kids?” It’s been a recurring theme of the coverage of the Parkland school shooting: the remarkable effectiveness of the high school students who created a gun control organization in the wake of the massacre. In seemingly no time, the magical kids had organized events ranging from a national march to a mass school walkout, and they’d brought in a million dollars in donations from Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney. . .

In other words, the response was professionalized. That’s not surprising, because this is what organization that gets results actually looks like. It’s not a bunch of magical kids in somebody’s living room. Nor is it surprising that the professionalization happened right off the bat. Broward County’s teacher’s union is militant, and Rep. Ted Lieu stated on Twitter that his family knows Parkland student activist David Hogg’s family, so there were plenty of opportunities for grown-ups with resources and skills to connect the kids.

On Twitter, I lost track of the number of bluechecks rhapsodizing over how effective the kids’ organizational instincts were. But organizing isn’t instinctive. It’s skilled work; you have to learn how to do it, and it takes really a lot of people. You don’t just get a few magical kids who’re amazing and naturally good at it.

The real tip-off should have been the $500,000 donations from Winfrey and Clooney. Big celebrities don’t give huge money to strangers on a whim. Somebody who knows Winfrey and Clooney called them and asked. But the press’s response was to be ever more impressed with the kids.

For two weeks, journalists abjectly failed in their jobs, which is to tell the public what’s going on. And any of them who had any familiarity with organizing campaigns absolutely knew. Matt Pearce, of the Los Angeles Times, would have been ideally placed to write an excellent article: not only is he an organizer for the Times’s union, he moderated a panel on leftist activism for the LA Times Book Festival and has the appropriate connections in organizing. Instead, he wrote about a school walkout, not what was behind it. (Read more from “Why Did It Take Two Weeks to Discover Parkland Students’ Astroturfing?” HERE)

FBI Doubling the Number of Agents Dedicated to Supplying Info on Clinton Investigation

By The Blaze. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is stepping up efforts to comply with a subpoena from the House Judiciary Committee by doubling the number of staffers committed to the task.

FBI director Christopher Wray says he’ll cooperate with the request to provide documents showing how his agency investigated Hillary Clinton’s email scandal, but he asked for more time to do so.

A summons was issued last week by Virginia Republican congressman Bob Goodlatte, requesting not only evidence from the Clinton probe, but also documentation relating to the firing of former agency deputy director Andrew McCabe as well as potential FISA abuses.

Wray announced in a statement on Tuesday that “Up until today, we have dedicated 27 FBI staff to review the records. The actual number of documents responsive to this request is likely in the thousands. Regardless, I agree that the current pace of production is too slow.”

So the director said they’ll step up the pace, saying he was “doubling the number of assigned FBI staff, for a total of 54, to cover two shifts per day from 8am to midnight to expedite completion of this project.” (Read more from “FBI Doubling the Number of Agents Dedicated to Supplying Info on Clinton Investigation” HERE)

FBI Director: Bureau Will Cooperate With Subpoena on Clinton Email Probe

By The Washington Times. FBI Director Christopher Wray said the bureau will cooperate with a House Judiciary Committee subpoena for documents on how it handled the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

But Mr. Wray said in a statement issued late Tuesday the bureau will need more time to produce the “thousands” of documents. To speed up the process, Mr. Wray has doubled the number of workers reviewing the records to 54 from 27 and has authorized two shifts per day from 8:00 am to 12:00 am.

“I agree the current pace of production is too slow,” Mr. Wray said.

Rep. Bob Goodlatte, Virginia Republican, issued the summons last week. He, along with Rep Trey Gowdy, House Oversight Committee chairman and South Carolina Republican, are probing whether political bias influenced how the FBI handled the investigation into Mrs. Clinton’s use of a private email server. President Trump and his allies have alleged Obama-era holdovers in the FBI have covered for Mrs. Clinton.
