Massive Federal Operation Captures Over 20 Dangerous MS-13 Gang Members

By Conservative Tribune. The role of federal law enforcement has come under great scrutiny lately, but an operation in California just showed how important the Department of Homeland Security can be.

Over 20 gang members that belong to the infamous Mara Salvatrucha group — better known as MS-13 — were just arrested on multiple charges on Friday.

“The charges included assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering and conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances,” reported The Washington Examiner.

It wasn’t that long ago that President Donald Trump came under fire for saying that MS-13 members were “animals,” and alluding to serious crimes like kidnapping and rape from suspects moving across the border. . .

“Additionally, two MS-13 members were also charged with with kidnapping and murder in aid of racketeering, and three others were charged with conspiracy and assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, according to two federal indictments,” continued The Examiner. MS-13 Gang Used California Farm Town as a Base for Crime

By AP. More than two dozen MS-13 gang members and affiliates were arrested and charged following a monthslong murder and drug trafficking investigation centered on a rural California farm city that the gang turned into a base for its operations, U.S. and state prosecutors said Friday.

MS-13 took advantage of limited resources in the city of Mendota and used it and other areas of Fresno County to “conduct their crimes, to hide out from crimes that they committed in other jurisdictions and to prepare to commit crimes in states as far away as New York,” Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp said at a news conference in Fresno with state and federal officials.

Mendota has a population of roughly 11,000 people and lies 35 miles (60 kilometers) west of Fresno in California’s agriculturally rich Central Valley. Nearly the entire population is Hispanic, with many immigrants from El Salvador. (Read more from “MS-13 Gang Used California Farm Town as a Base for Crime” HERE)

WATCH: Kanye West Explains Why Trump Is Good for the Black Community

During a radio interview Wednesday, Kanye West said that President Donald Trump cares “about the way black people feel about him” because he wants to be the greatest president ever and he knows that can’t happen without the “acceptance of the black community.”

“I feel that he cares about the way black people feel about him, and he would like for black people to like him,” West said. “And he will do the things that are necessary to make that happen because he’s got an ego, like all the rest of us, and he wants to be the greatest president, and he knows that he can’t be the greatest president without the acceptance of the black community. So it’s something he’s gonna work towards, but we’re gonna have to speak to him.”

Filling in for Glenn Beck on Thursday’s episode of “The Glenn Beck Radio Program,” Pat Gray, Stu Burguiere, and Jeffy Fisher were impressed with West’s anayisis.

“That was actually a decent case that he lays out,” Pat said. “We all know that President Trump likes to be liked, wants to be liked, and so will try to please people … that’s what he’s playing into there.” (Read more from “Watch: Kanye West Explains Why Trump Is Good for the Black Community” HERE)

The DOJ Goes After Harvard for Discriminating Against Asian Applicants

Imagine if a private college – even one that took no federal funds – openly skewed its admission standards in a way that would ensure qualified blacks would be rejected in favor of less qualified whites. Every tool of state and federal government, the media, the virtue-signaling industry, and of course the courts would force it to change course. Yet this is what Harvard has been doing openly for 45 years to Americans of Asian heritage, even though, as part of its agreement to take federal grants, the school commits to not discriminating based on race. Now, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is calling Harvard out on it.

Liberal elites, such as those who run the Harvard faculty, believe in equal outcomes for their specific protected classes, not equal opportunity and equal application of civil rights laws for everyone. Thus, through affirmative action, they will stop at nothing to distort reality and not only violate the principles of meritocracy but downright make up facts in order to discriminate against classes that are out of favor with them.

In the case of Harvard’s admission standards, the school has openly bragged for years about using race as a factor in admission in order to achieve its convoluted goals of diversity rather than treat all applicants as individuals. The fact that many Americans of Asian heritage tend to score very high academically created an inconvenient reality undermining the desire for an arbitrary racial balance. Thus, the administrators ditched the merit-based academic scores for racial targets that ensured a number of better-qualified Asian-Americans were displaced by less qualified individuals simply because of a target racial balance.

What scheme did they use? The DOJ charges that Harvard used a personal rating in addition to academic scores that included “subjective” factors, such as a “positive personality,” “likability,” and being a “good person” with “human qualities.” DOJ asserts that this progressive elite institution “admits that, on average, it scores Asian-American applicants lower on this ‘personal rating’ than applicants of other races.” The DOJ’s finding is really nothing new, because Harvard’s own internal investigative division found the same thing in a 2013 report. It found that racial balancing resulted in a 140 percent increase in the Hispanic proportion of the class and a 400 percent increase in the African-American proportion of the class. Also, merely being black was the second-strongest factor in admissions, just behind the factor of “strong personal rating,” which in itself was, on average, arbitrarily padded for black students and downgraded for Asians.

Harvard is essentially repeating the overt discrimination in admissions that it employed 100 years ago when administrators grew concerned that too many Jews were being admitted.

Plaintiffs in a recent lawsuit assert that Harvard uses ethnic balancing tools to achieve almost the exact same ethnic makeup every year, creating a floor for African-Americans and a ceiling for Asian-Americans. Every academic year, the racial breakdown is as follows: White – 50-53 percent, Asian-American – 18-20 percent, African-American – 10-12 percent, Hispanic – 10-12 percent, and Native American – 2 percent. According to research provided to the federal court in Massachusetts by plaintiffs, the racial balancing is so skewed that is serves as the dominant factor. “An Asian-American applicant with a 25% chance of admission, for example, would have a 35% chance if he were white, a 75% chance if he were Hispanic, and a 95% chance if he were African American,” wrote lawyers for the students in a June memorandum seeking summary judgement.

Talk about monkeying up the admission standards! This is hard-core racism. To ignore the reality of individuals’ higher scores and to arbitrarily concoct a system whereby they erroneously label Asians as less likable and personable in order to demonstrate they are less qualified is disgraceful. According to the DOJ, given that Harvard accepts millions in federal grant money, this practice violates Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.

On Thursday, Attorney General Sessions announced that because Harvard accepts federal grants, the DOJ filed a statement of interest in the pending lawsuit of a group of Asian-Americans, Students for Fair Admissions, against the school. They assert that the school has shown no need for such racial balancing, has failed to divulge how administrators weigh the racial factors, has failed to explore any racially neutral criteria, has used race as the overarching factor instead of a contributing factor, and has not limited its manipulation to a specific time period, all criteria required by the Supreme Court in Grutter v. Bollinger (2003).

This is yet another welcoming sea change at the DOJ from Sessions. In the past, the department has been used as a tool to actually promote discrimination under the guise of fighting it, by mandating that government or private institutions purposely factor in race over meritocracy. Sessions is doing the opposite in order to follow the true intent of civil rights laws.

Harvard’s egregious slight of Asian-Americans is likely the tip of the iceberg of discriminatory affirmative action throughout higher education institutions. It is quite evident that Sessions desires to systemically reorient the mission of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, and it would not be surprising to see more action taken against other institutions. When asked if we should expect more investigations against other institutions, a spokeswoman for the department said, “As a matter of policy, DOJ does not confirm or deny the existence or nonexistence of investigations.” (For more from the author of “The DOJ Goes After Harvard for Discriminating Against Asian Applicants” please click HERE)

Democrats Blast Trump’s Federal Worker Pay Freeze as ‘Cutting Pay’ Because This Is the Swamp

President Donald Trump is frustrated with Congress’ absolute refusal to entertain any notion of fiscal responsibility, so he’s taking action himself. On Thursday, the president announced he would cancel a scheduled 2.1 percent across-the-board pay raise for federal workers.

“In light of our Nation’s fiscal situation, Federal employee pay must be performance-based, and aligned strategically toward recruiting, retaining, and rewarding high-performing Federal employees and those with critical skill sets,” Trump wrote in a letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wisc.

Democrats like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., are attacking Trump for “cutting pay,” because only in Washington D.C. is not giving the government a raise a pay cut.

Trump says he has the authority to cancel raises for federal workers when there is “national emergency or serious economic conditions affecting the general welfare.” Congress, however, can override the decision in spending legislation, if it so chooses. And it’s likely Congress will override Trump. Lawmakers have already demonstrated a commitment to wildly increasing federal spending, ignoring the $21 trillion national debt.

Why stop now? (For more from the author of “Democrats Blast Trump’s Federal Worker Pay Freeze as ‘Cutting Pay’ Because This Is the Swamp” please click HERE)

Judge Halts the First Grizzly Bear Hunt in Decades Just Mere Hours Before the Season Was Set to Open

By Townhall. . .A lawsuit, however, was brought about by animal rights activists and Native American tribes to prohibit the hunting of grizzly bears. The lawsuit was backed by 30 groups, which included the Humane Society, Center for Biological Diversity, National Parks Conservation Association, Northern Cheyenne Tribe, and Sierra Club.

The hunt was backed by pro-gun groups such as Safari Club International, the National Rifle Association, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation. According to these groups, utilizing hunting to manage grizzly bears is vital.

“These bears have recovered and are thriving. The time has come for them to be managed according to each state’s individual management plan in accordance with the North American model,” Evan Heusinkveld, Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation president and CEO, told Guns.com. “Unfortunately, animal rights extremists cannot accept that hunting is a foundational pillar of our system of wildlife management, and has been a driving force for recovering wildlife species all across the country.”

In the judge’s order, he said the plaintiffs, those who wish to keep grizzlies on the ESA, had to establish irreparable harm would take place if the grizzly hunt took place. He ruled that proofing that the bears’ deaths would be sufficient enough evidence. Could the Catholic Church Face Federal Investigation Over Sex Abuse Cover-Up?

By Townhall. According to a Pennyslvania attorney general, and if a national victims’ rights group gets their way, the federal government might soon be launching an investigation into the Catholic Church.

In a New York Times interview published Monday, Attorney General Josh Shapiro answered questions about Pennsylvania’s recently released grand jury report. The bombshell report, years in the making, implicated over 300 Catholic priests in the sexual abuse of over 1,000 children, over the course of decades.

The secret investigation began in 2016, before Shapiro was even sworn into office. He recalled being given the choice of whether or not to move forward with the case, saying “I made it clear I wanted the investigation to continue. I put the full force of our office into this investigation.”

During the course of the interview, the attorney general spoke out about Pope Francis, the Pennsylvania dioceses that attempted to shut down the investigation, and the attorneys general now following Pennsylvania’s lead, and potentially initiating their own respective investigations. . .

Passed by Congress in 1970, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) allows prosecutors to go after not just individuals for an alleged crime, but organized groups as well. Prior to the passage of the law, there was little that could be done to address the unique problem of organized crime. Is the Catholic Church Beyond Redemption?

By The New York Times. . .Reform must happen from within

You can’t possibly ask that every ordained member of the church resign. Catholicism is as much a culture as it is a religion. As hard and as terrible as it is, the only thing we can do is try to make it better and make sure it never happens again. When I say “we” I mean me, and you, and your priest, and the pope and everyone in between. Whether you’re going to be there to see it happen or not, it’s your choice. But this easy (and impossible) way out you’re asking for is unreasonable. — Ana Carolina, Brazil

. . .

We should all stand up in the pews and speak. Letters to the nuncio are wasted paper. Prayers are misplaced energy as well. I sincerely hope there is a national commission, as there has been in Australia. If the civil authorities leave lay people to change this themselves, nothing will happen. We already know nothing will happen if we leave the church to reform itself. — Jennifer, Bronxville, N.Y.

Good Trump: President Lends Air Force Two to McCain Family to Bring Body of Senator to D.C.

While President Trump was bad-mouthed left and right over the course of Sen. John McCain’s five-day funeral and remembrance ceremonies, he actually did the former senator and war hero a solid.

McCain’s body was flown to Washington, D.C., on an aircraft that was approved by Trump. “The late Arizona senator’s casket was loaded onto one of the jets known as Air Force 2 — which is often designated for the VP or First Lady’s travel,” TMZ reported. . .

“The 89th Airlift Wing, based out of Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, is responsible for the aircraft as well as Air Force One. McCain’s body will be flown to the base, according to a representative of the airlift wing,” Arizona Central reported.

“This specific plane has carried the body of a significant figure at least once before, according to the Air Force. In 2001, this plane transported the body of United States Marine and Central Intelligence Agency Operations Officer Johnny Michael Spann. He was the first American killed in combat during the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan.” . . .

But Meghan McCain didn’t appear to appreciate Trump’s benevolence. At a Saturday memorial service for her father at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Arizona Republican took to the podium and ripped Trump. The classic children’s series, “Thomas the Tank Engine,” is relaunching next week with an updated set of characters and a commitment to being more “inclusive, gender-balanced,” and “multicultural.” . . .

According to The Independent, Thomas’s “Stem Team” — the core group of anthropomorphic railroad cars that make up the show’s cast — will now be “gender balanced,” with three “male” trains and three “female” trains taking center stage, rather than the male-heavy team that held down Sir Toppem Hat’s rail yard in the original series. . .

“The new female characters include Isla, an Australian flying doctor; Hong-mei, a number 1 blue tank engine from China; and Churubala, a female railway controller from India,” The Independent reports. “The Steam Team is now gender-balanced, with three male and three female characters: Percy, James, Gordon, Emily and new members Nia and Rebecca, as well as Thomas.”

The team behind “Thomas” hopes that’ll boost the show among female viewers, and satisfy viewers across the world.
