Sorry, Anti-Gunners, Your Base of Support for Gun Control Is Being Chipped Away Again

Wait—isn’t 60 percent a solid number showing support for stricter gun laws? Yes, but support is dropping and my guess, like what happened after Sandy Hook, is that support will continue to drop until it returns to pre-Newtown levels: 47 percent. And that was with a Democratic president at the helm.

Sandy Hook was a tragic shooting that shook the nation, as did the February shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, which launched a renewed wave of anti-gun activism. Former students David Hogg, Cameron Kasky, and Emma Gonzalez formed the face of their new movement. Support for gun control reached 25-year highs, but Stephen Gutowski of the Washington Free Beacon noted that support is dropping:

The Gallup poll of 1,019 adults, conducted between Oct. 1 and 10, found 61 percent of respondents support making gun laws stricter. That’s down 6 points from when Gallup asked the same question between March 1 and 8. At the same time support for the idea that gun laws should be kept the same increased from 28 percent to 30 percent and support for the idea they should be made less strict doubled from 4 percent to 8 percent.

Overall, opposition to stricter gun-control laws moved from 32 percent to 38 percent. Two percent of respondents said they had no opinion. (It’s unclear why Gallup’s raw numbers add up to more than 100 percent but the discrepancy is likely the result of rounding.)

Support for stricter gun control has wavered significantly over the last few decades. When Gallup first asked about it in 1990, support for stricter laws came in at an all-time-high of 78 percent. In 2012, support hit an all-time-low of 43 percent. Support for stricter laws has trended back up since 2012, but this month’s numbers may indicate it is receding once again.

Judicial Watch Files Bar Complaint Against Lawyers for Christine Blasey Ford

Government watchdog Judicial Watch has filed a complaint with the Board of Professional Responsibility in Washington D.C. against the Democrat operatives who legally represent Christine Blasey Ford. Ford is the woman who testified in front of Congress during Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination process.

The filing was made after it was revealed during testimony that Ford was never informed by her attorneys, Debra S. Katz, Lisa J. Banks and Michael R. Bromwich, that staffers for Senate Judiciary Committee Chuck Grassley were willing to fly to her home in California, or anywhere she chose, for a private interview instead of public questioning. The offer was made after Ford said she has a fear of flying, despite regularly taking flights across the country and the globe.

“By not informing their client Dr. Ford that Sen. Chuck Grassley, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee offered in a letter to ‘fly female staff investigators to meet Dr. Ford… in California, or anywhere else, to obtain (her) testimony, Katz, Banks, and Bromwich violated the following District of Columbia Rules of Professional Conduct,” Judicial Watch released Friday. “Rule l.4(a) – A lawyer shall keep a client reasonably informed about the status of a matter and promptly comply with reasonable requests for information [and] Rule 1.4(b) – A lawyer shall explain a matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation.”

During her testimony, Ford stated she did not know the offer was made by Grassley’s.

Abortionist Claims Gosnell Movie Is a ‘Safety Risk’ for Abortion Doctors

The independent true-crime drama about notorious abortionist Kermit Gosnell made it into the Top 10 movies at the box office this past weekend, in spite of its limited release and the mainstream media’s attempts to have it blacklisted.

Days later, Gosnell continues to perform well–according to Box Office Mojo, the movie climbed even higher, reaching number 9 this week. . .

But in spite of the crowd-funded film’s strong success with audiences around the country, a prominent abortionist is sounding the alarm about Gosnell, calling the movie a “safety risk” for abortion doctors like himself.

In a scathing Wednesday op-ed for the Huffington Post, titled “Anti-Choice Activists Want You to Hate Abortion Providers Like Me,” abortionist Willie J. Parker called the film “a ripe opportunity for anti-choicers to peddle a familiar conspiracy theory about abortion clinics.”

“The movie’s title,” Dr. Parker wrote, “and the inflammatory and dehumanizing rhetoric of its promotional materials are disturbing. The film is deeply offensive and exploits the pain and suffering of women. The project seems designed to arouse outrage against doctors who provide safe and legal abortion care, and I believe it creates a safety risk for physicians, clinicians, clinic staff, clinic escorts and my patients.” (Read more from “Abortionist Claims Gosnell Movie Is a ‘Safety Risk’ for Abortion Doctors” HERE)

This Might Be the Best Thing to Look Forward to in 2020

For those of us already weary from the 2018 midterms (and maybe with some leftover exhaustion from 2016), the thought of jumping back into a presidential election cycle early next year is, well, nothing short of absolutely dreadful.

But there will be at least one silver lining to look forward to during the primaries.

A story over at Roll Call details how potential 2020 Democratic primary contenders like former Vice President Joe Biden and Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Kamala Harris, D-Calif., and Cory Booker, D-N.J., are already planning some forays into critical battleground territories outside their home turfs in places like Nevada, Ohio, and South Carolina.

This primary race is going to make some great television, folks. Here’s why:

In case anyone forgot in the midterm fog, the 2020 Democratic primary will mean politicians who have so far built their political brands on things like far-left open borders policies (and twisting the history of the Founding to push them); attacking a member of the intelligence community for doing her job after 9/11; all-out socialized medicine; grandstandingly comparing oneself to Spartacus; calling oneself Native American; and insinuating that Christian beliefs disqualifiy someone from an executive branch appointment are going to have to at least try to make their case to folks outside their leftist/liberal strongholds.

Think about it: Kamala Harris trying to sell amnesty policies to voters in Iowa or South Carolina; Elizabeth Warren trying to get past her Native American DNA fail to actual Native Americans in Arizona; Cory Booker trying to get past the “Spartacus” routine in Iowa.

And some of them are going to have a very hard time when they realize just how far-left policies, anti-Trump resistance tactics, and brazen identity politics actually play outside their deep-blue stomping grounds.

It’s going to be like a political hybrid of MTV’s “Road Rules” and Billy Crystal’s 1991 comedy classic “City Slickers.” That is, it’s going to be spectacular. (For more from the author of “This Might Be the Best Thing to Look Forward to in 2020” please click HERE)

Rosie O’Donnell: Send Military to the White House to ‘Get’ Trump

Rosie O’Donnell said on MSNBC Thursday that she wants to send the U.S. military to the White House to “get” President Donald Trump.

O’Donnell made the comments while appearing in a wild segment of Nicolle Wallace’s MSNBC show called “Deadline: White House.” O’Donnell was describing how she was depressed for a year after Trump was elected when she proposed a coup of the presidency.

“What I wrote on Twitter was we should impose martial law until we make sure the Russians weren’t involved in the final tally of the votes. … And people were like, ‘Martial law? What’s wrong with you?’” Rosie opined.

“He wants to send the military to the border,” MSNBC host Wallace quipped about Trump weighing the option of sending the military to the border to deal with the Honduran caravan of illegal aliens traveling toward the border. . .

Rosie, who has professionally feuded with Trump for years, did call for martial law to be imposed soon after Trump’s victory in 2016.

Democratic Operative Arrested for Allegedly Attacking Female GOP Campaign Manager

A Democratic operative was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday night after he allegedly grabbed and shoved a female campaign manager for Republican gubernatorial nominee Adam Laxalt.

Witnesses say 50-year-old Wilfred Michael Stark III, of Falls Church, Virginia, grabbed Kristin Davison by the arm, pushing her into a room, and would not let go. He yelled and shoved a camera and his body at her and Laxalt, according to The Associated Press. The altercation left her with bruises on her arms and neck.

Davidson was arrested by The Las Vegas City Marshals and charged with misdemeanor battery. He was released Wednesday on $1,140 bail, the AP reported. Laxalt’s campaign said Stark works for American Bridge 21st Century, a political group founded by David Brock and funded by George Soros.

This is not the first time Stark has been arrested for his behavior as a political operative. In March, he was arrested for allegedly shoving an aide to Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke — an incident American Bridge said Stark “adamantly” denied, Fox News reports.

He also reportedly followed Rep. Devin Nunes around Capitol Hill in June, prompting the Republican congressman to tweet a photo of what appears to be Stark standing nearby holding up a cell phone. Court: Obama Admin Dodged State Laws to Get Illegal Minors Abortions

Last week, a federal judge in California dismissed a lawsuit the American Civil Liberties Union had filed in 2016 challenging the government’s award of grants to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to provide services to unaccompanied minor illegal aliens and trafficking victims. In the lawsuit, the ACLU argued the grants violated the Establishment Clause because the Department of Health and Human Services allowed the Catholic organization (and its sub-grantees) to deny girls and women in their care contraceptives and abortion.

The court rejected the ACLU’s Establishment Clause claim in a methodical 34-page opinion, explaining that the federal funds were not used to endorse or advance religion. Further, as the San Francisco-based federal judge stressed, the government would transfer minors to other facilities if there were a conflict between the services sought and the religious tenets of the organization running the shelter.

uried in the middle of the court’s analysis was a shocking revelation: Obama administration officials transported pregnant minors in federal custody to New Mexico to obtain abortions in order to circumvent parental consent laws in other states.

An email exchange between two Health and Human Services employees in April 2014 exposed this disturbing fact. In discussing Maria, a pregnant minor held at a temporary shelter, possibly in Texas or Florida—the workers noted that Maria stated she wanted an abortion and did not want her parents to know that she was pregnant. At the time, Maria’s parents, who were to be her sponsors, were located in Florida. Maria was in the custody of the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement.

After learning Maria had requested an abortion, according to government emails, “two ORR field specialists looked into the abortion laws in both Texas and Florida and reported that the general rule in both states was that minors could not have abortions without parental consent (absent exceptions, such as obtaining a waiver from a judge).” The Texas field specialist then emailed other ORR staff members, explaining: “This is why termination of pregnancies are done in New Mexico due to the fact that currently (by law) there is no parental consent requirement.” (Read more from “Court: Obama Admin Dodged State Laws to Get Illegal Minors Abortions” HERE)

Elizabeth Warren Tries Once Again to Explain Her Claim to Be Native American — and It’s Hilarious

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who claimed to be Native American when a DNA study showed she has as little as .09% Indian blood, is still trying to explain away her assertion.

Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat running for re-election who President Trump has dubbed “Pocahontas” for her claim, released the results of the DNA test on Sunday with about three weeks to go before Election Day in an attempt to “begin deflecting the constant taunting from the president and her Senate challengers,” The Boston Globe reported.

“I have an election,” Warren said. “Donald Trump goes in front of crowds multiple times a week to attack me. Both of my opponents have made the same attack. I got this analysis back, and I made it public.”

The move turned out to be a PR disaster. While the mainstream media happily went along with the notion that 1/1,024 heritage actually makes someone Native American, many mocked Warren for the bizarre claim. Trump himself joined in, writing on Twitter: “Now that her claims of being of Indian heritage have turned out to be a scam and a lie, Elizabeth Warren should apologize for perpetrating this fraud against the American Public. Harvard called her ‘a person of color’ (amazing con), and would not have taken her otherwise!”

. . .

“There’s a distinction between citizenship and ancestry. I wish I had been more mindful of that distinction,” she told the Globe. “The tribes and only the tribes determine citizenship. It’s their right as a matter of sovereignty, and they exercise that in the ways they choose to exercise it. I respect that distinction.” (Read more from “Elizabeth Warren Tries Once Again to Explain Her Claim to Be Native American — and It’s Hilarious” HERE)

Texas Dems Ask Noncitizens to Register to Vote, Send Applications With Citizenship Box Pre-Checked

The Texas Democratic Party asked non-citizens to register to vote, sending out applications to immigrants with the box citizenship already checked “Yes,” according to new complaints filed Thursday asking prosecutors to see what laws may have been broken.

The Public Interest Legal Foundation alerted district attorneys and the federal Justice Department to the pre-checked applications, and also included a signed affidavit from a man who said some of his relatives, who aren’t citizens, received the mailing.

“This is how the Texas Democratic Party is inviting foreign influence in an election in a federal election cycle,” said Logan Churchwell, spokesman for the PILF, a group that’s made its mark policing states’ voter registration practices.

The Texas secretary of state’s office said it, too, had gotten complaints both from immigrants and from relatives of dead people who said they got mailings asking them to register. . .

The PILF publicly released complaints it sent to Hidalgo and Starr counties asking for an investigation. The organization also provided copies of pre-marked voter applications and the affidavit from the man who said his non-citizen relatives received the mailing. SHOCK: Former USA Gymnastics Head Arrested by Fugitive Task Force

Steve Penny, the former head of USA Gymnastics who stepped down amid the horrific revelations about Dr. Larry Nassar, was arrested by a fugitive task force Wednesday while on a vacation with his family. Penny was secretly indicted three weeks ago for felony charges of tampering with evidence related to Nassar’s molestation case.

The U.S. Marshals Service said Penny was arrested in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Wednesday after being secretly indicted on September 28 by a Walker County, Texas, grand jury. NBC News reports:

According to a summary of the indictment released by Walker County prosecutors, Penny ordered the removal of documents from the Karolyi Ranch, where powerhouse Olympic teams were built and where some athletes say they were molested by Nassar, the longtime team doctor. Nassar was sentenced in February to as long as 125 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to molesting 10 girls.

The Texas prosecutors said some of the documents were delivered to Penny at USA Gymnastics’ headquarters in Indianapolis and that they remain missing. The indictment says Penny, knowing an investigation was in progress, intentionally destroyed or concealed the materials on or around Nov. 11, 2016.

. . .

Penny’s attorney, Edith Matthai, says her client was given no warning about the impending arrest, which occurred while he was on vacation with his wife and three kids. “If Mr. Penny had any idea he was sought in Texas this would have been appropriately handled through counsel without terrifying his family,” said Matthai in a statement reported by NBC. “Mr. Penny has not and would not have attempted to avoid the service of a summons and he cooperated fully with the (Marshals).” (Read more from “Shock: Former USA Gymnastics Head Arrested by Fugitive Task Force” HERE)
