Dispute Between Michelle Obama and Donald Trump Shows Our Need to Forgive

Former first lady Michelle Obama wrote in her new book that she will never forgive Donald Trump for questioning Obama’s birth certificate. . .

When told about Obama’s comments, Donald Trump hit back by saying that he’d never forgive President Obama for his handling of the U.S. military. . .

For all of his strong rhetoric, Trump seemed to understand why such language is of another kind when he took on Hillary Clinton for her claim that Trump supporters were “deplorable” and “irredeemable.” Many people focused on the “basket of deplorables” comment, but in the second presidential debate of 2016 Trump said he thought the “irredeemable” language was worse:

We have a divided nation, because people like her — and believe me, she has tremendous hate in her heart. And when she said deplorables, she meant it. And when she said irredeemable, they’re irredeemable, you didn’t mention that, but when she said they’re irredeemable, to me that might have been even worse.

. . .

When we forgive one another — including for their grievous sins against us — it shows us that we truly believe God has forgiven us. The Catechism says, “Inasmuch as we sin greatly against God every day and yet He forgives it all through grace, we must always forgive our neighbor who does us harm, violence, and injustice [and] bears malice toward us…. If you do not forgive, do not think that God forgives you.”

Planned Parenthood President Avoids the Word ‘Abortion’ in Debut Interview

This morning, Planned Parenthood’s new president, Dr. Leana Wen, started her first official day of work with a softball interview with “CBS This Morning.”

Despite running an organization notorious for providing abortions, Wen somehow — with the help of a cadre of perky CBS hosts — manages to avoid the word “abortion” and skirt around the topic for nearly the entire interview. I must give credit where it’s due: Planned Parenthood has managed to completely rebrand abortion into “reproductive rights” and “women’s healthcare,” with what seems like great success, given how many pro-choicers proudly profess their support nationwide, using these exact curated terms. Just because something is popular, though, does not make it right, and just because something sounds good does not mean it is true.

Wen does an excellent job of toeing the party line, as is to be expected from the leader of an intensely political-but-not-technically-political organization. The real issue, though, is that CBS’s journalists let Wen prattle on with anesthetized talking point after talking point. For example, Wen claimed early on, “We do more to prevent unintended pregnancies every year than any other organization,” and that the organization provides cancer screenings and birth control, in addition to life-saving care for millions of people annually. CBS accepted this claim totally uncritically. . .

Many objections center around wanting to protect the rights of the innocent unborn fetus that is indisputably developing, and will continue developing into a baby inside the woman’s uterus, if unhindered. Distrust of women, although a convenient way of framing it, is not the real issue. Lots of pro-lifers, conservatives, and libertarians are interested in protecting an individual’s right to make their own choices. The issue comes when those choices fundamentally harm other living beings, creating a more complex trade-off than most pro-choicers are comfortable admitting. Mueller Grand Jury Witness Says He Will Be Indicted for Perjury

A journalist who has testified twice before the Mueller grand jury said Monday that he expects to be charged in the coming days in the special counsel’s investigation.

“I fully anticipate that in the next few days I will be indicted by Mueller for some form or another for giving false information the special counsel or the grand jury,” Jerome Corsi, a former reporter with Infowars, announced on his daily web show. . .

Corsi has been linked to Roger Stone, a Trump confidant who has been a focus of the Mueller probe for months. . .

Corsi said Monday that he has attempted to cooperate with Mueller’s team, but that “the entire negotiations and discussions have just blown up.” . . .

“I had nothing to hide, I feel like I’ve committed no crimes,” he continued, claiming that he has fallen victim to a perjury trap. (Read more from “Mueller Grand Jury Witness Says He Will Be Indicted for Perjury” HERE)

Dropped the Ball? Thousand Oaks Gunman Reportedly Had PTSD, Was Cleared Despite CA’s ‘Red Flag’ Laws

New details have emerged about the gunman who killed 12 people at a bar before killing himself in Thousand Oaks, California on Wednesday night. Ian Long, 29, was a military veteran who suffered from PTSD after returning from a tour in Afghanistan that took place between 2010 and 2011, The Daily Mail reported.

Back in April, police had a run in with Long. They were called out to his Newbury Park home that he shared with his mom when neighbors heard loud crushing coming from inside.

Police were dispatched after Long shot a round from his handgun into one of the walls. He then barricaded himself inside. Police spent hours trying to get him to peacefully come outside, The Wall Street Journal reported. . .

Although California has strict “red flag” laws, which allows police or family members to temporarily remove firearms from a person they deem a threat to themselves or others, it’s unclear why Long’s firearms were not removed back in April. . .

Politicians and gun control advocates are quick to say we need these red flag laws. But here’s the problem. Instead of diagnosing and treating the cause of things like service-related PTSD, they’re waiting until someone like the Thousand Oak shooter kills a number of people before taking any kind of action. The answer isn’t taking away someone’s gun and then hoping they get better. The answer is providing treatment options and mental health resources to those who need it. Maybe This Is Why Hillary Clinton Thinks She Has Another Shot at the Democratic Nomination

When it comes down to any contest, you size up the competition. So, given all of the negatives Hillary Clinton has right now, why is she possibly thinking about running again? Yes, Democrats like her, but I think if you were to ask a follow-up question concerning her running for president…again, the poll numbers would not be stellar. The progressive base of the Democratic Party, which isn’t small, wants her gone. A lot of the big wigs want a fresh start as well.

Hillary comes off as inauthentic, not trustworthy, and someone who plays by their own rules. Worse, the Clintons come off as a couple that thinks the rules don’t apply to them. As many have noted during the 2016 election, all of these criticisms from their days in the White House, and on the campaign trail, were resurrected by the email fiasco Hillary failed miserably to downplay. Rural voters probably won’t listen to her either, and if she tries, the issue of trust comes into play. No one outside of the Acela Corridor seems to think she’s playing with a full deck. These are the same areas that voted against her and made Donald Trump our president. . .

Via The Hill [emphasis mine]:

With the 2018 midterms in the rearview mirror, several Democrats are gearing up for the 2020 presidential contest. But so far, no Democrat has attracted broad support from the party’s base, according to a new Hill.TV American Barometer poll.

The survey, conducted among 680 registered voters who identified themselves as Democrats or independents, found that “none of the above” was the most popular choice among potential 2020 challengers to President Trump.

LGBT Members of Migrant Caravan First to Reach U.S. Border, Received Anonymous Help

A group of LGBT migrants arrived in Tijuana this weekend after reportedly breaking off from the larger U.S.-bound caravan due to verbal harassment and poor living conditions.

About 76 LGBT members of the caravan, which has about 3,600 members, described inter-caravan persecution and poor planning interfering with the members’ ability to eat and bathe on a regular basis, according to Telemundo 20 in San Diego. . .

An anonymous group paid for the small group of LGBT migrants to take a bus to the border. They said just like in their native country, they endured verbal abuse while they traveled with the large migrant group, which is expected to reach the U.S. border in about 2-3 weeks. . .

Sunday night, the rest of the caravan spent the night in Guanajuato, with plans to head to Guadalajara on Monday. The caravan continues to be spread out, with young men 100 miles or so ahead and women, children and families following behind.

A second caravan of 1,800 people is in Puebla, three days behind the main caravan, according to Mexican media reports. A third caravan of 2,000 people is about four days behind the main caravan. Ocasio-Cortez Couldn’t Afford a Place in D.C. Now She Now Has a Generous Offer From…

Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democratic Socialist darling from the Bronx, couldn’t afford an apartment in Washington, D.C. until she begins making a salary in Congress.

Because members of Congress are required to live in both Washington, D.C. and their home district, that means Ocasio-Cortez would be spending a pretty penny in two of the most expensive cities, News Channel 5 reported. Rent in D.C. and Ocasio-Cortez’s district range between $1,500 and $1,800 a month. . .

Well, now she has nothing to worry about. Celebrity chef José Andrés has offered to let her stay Ocasio-Cortez stay with his family for as long as need be. Andres owns restaurants in Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles; Las Vegas; South Beach, Florida; Frisco, Texas; and Dorado, Puerto Rico.

Veterans Day 2018: Never Forget Our Common Bond

By The Blaze. Monday, November 12th, Veterans Day will be observed here in the United States, which happens when the actual date (the 11th) falls on a weekend. This year it marks the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One, and follows the 243rd Marine Corps birthday. That’s quite a weekend line-up.

Over the weekend and into Monday there are, of course, many memorials, ceremonies, and dedications. There’s a new museum in Ohio. There are discounts and special special deals for vets at establishments across the country. There was even a pretty great reconciliation on Saturday Night Live, which included advice from newly elected member of Congress Dan Crenshaw to tell a vet “Never Forget” — it’s good advice.

Veterans Day grew from Armistice Day, that aforementioned celebration of the end of the Great War, the War to End All Wars, which is now one hundred years, and many more wars in the past. Now it is the day to celebrate those who fought in all wars, in all actions and engagements, who served around the world and over the decades.

Distinct from Memorial Day, it’s a day to remember, honor, help, or just celebrate American military members and veterans who are here with us still, as well as those who are gone. . .

What the members of our military do every day, what they did at home and abroad, in war and in peace, hardly requires explaining here. You probably know a veteran. Many of you are related to one ore more. We know what a veteran is, and we know why to celebrate their day. The stories are all around us. Veterans Day: By the Time I Saw My VA Doctor, He Said It Was Too Late

By Fox News. I was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. Had I been seen by a doctor sooner, my cancer could have been detected before it had progressed so far. Now it was too late. My cancer was so advanced the VA wouldn’t even offer me a treatment option.

I had joined the U.S. Army in 1989 as a young, ambitious kid. I honorably served my country for 18 years in the infantry and military police. When I took off the uniform, I relied on the promise I would be cared for as one who “shall have borne the battle.” But that promise was broken.

I was let down by government, the country that I served and loved. That hurt worse than my diagnosis. . .

Today, my cancer is in remission, thanks to the willingness of my non-VA doctors to fight for me. I still struggle and endure regular physical pain, but I’ve overcome far more than I or the VA expected.

Unfortunately, I am not the only veteran who has been denied the care they earned. Thousands of others wait months and even years for medical care and have to endure the bureaucratic red tape of the VA’s health care system every day. They do this because, until recently, it was the only option. (Read more from “Veterans Day: By the Time I Saw My VA Doctor, He Said It Was Too Late” HERE)

According to WSJ, Hillary Will Run Again

Hillary Rodham Clinton will run for president again in 2020, and she has reinvented herself in order to do it.

At least, that is what is online Sunday afternoon at the Wall Street Journal. The headline reads “Hillary Will Run Again”, the subhead reads “Reinventing herself as a liberal firebrand, Mrs. Clinton will easily capture the 2020 nomination,” the authors are Mark Penn and Andrew Stein, and it runs in print on Monday.

“Get ready for Hillary Clinton 4.0. More than 30 years in the making, this new version of Mrs. Clinton, when she runs for president in 2020, will come full circle—back to the universal-health-care-promoting progressive firebrand of 1994,” it begins. “True to her name, Mrs. Clinton will fight this out until the last dog dies. She won’t let a little thing like two stunning defeats stand in the way of her claim to the White House.”

Warning their excited target audience — who are already dancing in the virtual streets on social media — not to “pay much attention to the ‘I won’t run’ declarations,” they argue that the generation of Democrats who have been salivating over a power vacuum after the reign of the Clintons have proved too incompetent to take the reins. . .

The piece runs through a brief history of slime, covering Hillary classics from “It Takes a Village” through the Hope and Change desert (with a brief layover in “she won more delegates than him” land), and on into the Bernie Sanders doldrums. (You know, doldrums in the oceanic sense, not the hum-drummery sense.) Eventually it moves into newer songs like losing the midwest. Then finally to the crescendo. French President Macron Fires Back at Trump

At an event to honor the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, French President Emanuel Macron lashed out at President Donald Trump, devoting his speech at a veterans’ memorial to fire back at Trump’s “America First” foreign policy.

Just weeks ago, Trump called himself an unabashed “nationalist,” praising both domestic and foreign policies that put America before its allies. The move drew swift condemnation at home, as Republicans and Democrats alike cautioned Trump over the connotations of openly “nationalist” rhetoric.

But Trump has maintained that he values American sovereignty in foreign entanglements, and that matters of trade — and even of defense — will be judged by an “America First” standard.

Sunday, at a multi-national war memorial event in Paris, Macron repudiated Trump by hearkening back to the “nationalist” policies that gave way to World War I, and brought about the slaughter of millions of young men. Macron pleaded with his audience to “never again” allow nationalism to supersede global unity. . .

“Patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism. Nationalism is a betrayal of patriotism,” he continued. “In saying ‘Our interests first, whatever happens to the others,’ you erase the most precious thing a nation can have, that which makes it live, that which causes it to be great and that which is most important: Its moral values.” (Read more from “French President Macron Fires Back at Trump” HERE)
