State House Passes Bill to Ban Abortions on Babies With Down Syndrome

Following the advancement of multiple pro-life proposals, the Kentucky House voted this week to pass legislation that would ban abortions driven by discrimination against certain characteristics of the preborn child.

Introduced by Republican state Rep. Melinda Gibbons Prunty, House Bill 5 would ban any abortion sought on the basis of the baby’s race, sex, color, national origin, or disability. Abortionists would be required to certify they were unaware of any such motive before aborting. Violators would be guilty of a Class D felony (punishable by 1-5 years in prison), see their medical licenses revoked or suspended, and be potentially liable for civil damages. . .

“There are 15 clauses that protect the sanctity of life and civil rights,” Prunty argued during a lengthy floor debate. “This bill would extend those exact same rights to the unborn, from the moment of conception. Demanding the right to extinguish or eliminate the life of an unborn child, specifically because of their gender, race or possible physical or mental disability, is reminiscent of the evil social philosophy of eugenics.”

“Once again, this legislative body is inserting itself into the physician’s office,” Democrat state Rep. Mary Lou Marzian shot back. “This legislation has also been passed in several states and found unconstitutional. So, I guess I should be thrilled for my ACLU friends, who will be the recipient of over $100,000, I’m sure, of taxpayer dollars.” (Read more from “State House Passes Bill to Ban Abortions on Babies With Down Syndrome” HERE)

Watch: Rep. Shatters Michael Cohen’s Credibility in Congressional Committee

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, tore into the credibility of former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, who was disbarred this week and will soon be entering federal prison, and the Democrats Wednesday morning during a public hearing before the House Oversight Committee.

“The first announced witnessed for the 116th Congress is a guy who is going to prison in two months for lying to Congress,” Rep. Jordan started.

The House Freedom Caucus member continued, pointing out that the hearing was arranged by infamous Clinton fixer Lanny Davis.

“This is the Michael Cohen hearing, presented by Lanny Davis … the Clintons’ best friend, loyalist, operative. Lanny Davis put this all together.”

In another series of questions, Jordan said that Michael Cohen is lashing out at the president because he wanted a job in the White House but failed to achieve employment inside the administration.

“You said all these bad things about the president there in that last 30 minutes, and yet you worked for him for 10 years? … If it’s that bad, I can see you working for him for 10 days, maybe 10 weeks, maybe even 10 months. But you worked for him for 10 years,” Jordan said.

“You didn’t get a job in the White House. And now you’re behaving just everyone else who’s got fired or didn’t get the job they wanted, like Andy McCabe and James Comey, same kind of selfish motivation …” Jordan added.

Cohen claimed he did not seek a job in the White House, but that claim was immediately struck down by several Trump insiders and media outlets. Donald Trump Jr. added on Twitter that Cohen “begged” to work in the White House:

Several news organizations confirmed that Cohen did indeed seek a White House gig:

Furthermore, in pointing out the hyper-political nature of the hearing, Rep. Jordan also pointed out that CNN published Michael Cohen’s opening statement even before the Oversight Committee received the transcript of his planned remarks.

Beto O’Rourke Reveals He’s ‘Made a Decision’ Ahead of Expected Presidential Run

Former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke said Wednesday that he has made up his mind about his political future, raising expectations that he will be the latest Democrat to jump into the crowded race for the party’s 2020 presidential nomination. . .

The statement was first obtained by The Dallas Morning News, which reported that O’Rourke would not pursue a potential challenge to Sen. John Cornyn, the No. 2 Republican in Congress’ upper chamber. Cornyn responded to the report by tweeting: “Looks like Schumer couldn’t close the deal”, a reference to a recent report that O’Rourke and Schumer had met earlier this month to discuss a potential Senate bid.

O’Rourke made national headlines last year with his strong electoral challenge to Sen. Ted Cruz. O’Rourke was defeated by 2.5 percentage points, a surprisingly close margin in Texas, which has not elected a Democrat to statewide office since 1994.

O’Rourke had said for a week that he planned to make up his mind by the end of February — though how he will announce what he’ll do remains unclear. In addition to challenging Cornyn, O’Rourke also has suggested he could seek the Democrats’ 2020 vice presidential nomination.

While O’Rourke has continued to delay his decision, Democratic activists in states holding early presidential voting contests, including Iowa, Nevada and South Carolina, have formed “Draft Beto” groups that have raised money and tried to line up would-be supporters.

Trump Conveys ‘Great Respect’ for Kim, as North Korean Leader Compares Scene to ‘Fantasy Movie’

Long-awaited nuclear negotiations between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un were underway in Vietnam on Thursday morning, after a whirlwind day on Capitol Hill that threatened to steal the spotlight from the second historic summit between the two leaders.

“I just want to say: I have great respect for Chairman Kim, and I have great respect for his country,” Trump told reporters as he sat at a table across from Kim in Hanoi. “And I believe it will be something — hard to compete with for other countries. It has such potential.” . . .

Kim, for his part, said the “whole world” was watching the talks and suggested that, for some, the image of the two “sitting side by side” must resemble “a fantasy movie.”

Trump added that while reaching a lasting agreement was critical, “speed is not important.” The two leaders then retired to begin their negotiations privately, but were photographed shortly afterwards walking on the Metropole hotel’s pool patio, where they were joined by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and North Korean official Kim Yong Chol.

Trump, Kim and their aides were in Hanoi after long journeys by plane, train and automobile — Trump on Air Force One, Kim in an armored railcar and limousine — for two days of talks addressing perhaps the world’s biggest security challenge: Kim’s nuclear program, which stands on the verge of realistically threatening targets around the planet. Army Recruiter Pursues Shoplifting Suspects While Pushing 10-Month-Old Daughter in Stroller

By The Blaze. Staff Sgt. Sean Olivia of the Minneapolis Recruiting Company was shopping with his 10-month-old daughter at Southdale Center in Edina on Sunday when he saw four men take merchandise from the Apple Store and leave without paying, an Army spokesperson told KMSP-TV.

Store employees did not intervene, the station said, so Olivia chased the suspects while pushing his daughter in a stroller.

And if these fellas thought they’d soon give the slip to this veteran of two deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, they were sadly mistaken. Olivia soon passed his daughter to a bystander and pursued the suspects into the parking ramp, KMSP said. . .

Olivia had the presence of mind to take photos of the culprits and their vehicle’s license plate, the station said, after which he flagged down an Edina cop who was patrolling the parking ramp and pointed the officer to the suspects. U.S. Army Recruiter Stops Shoplifters at Southdale Center While Pushing Stroller

By Fox 9. The suspects managed to get into their vehicle, but Olivia took photos of them and their vehicle license plate. He alerted an Edina Police Department officer who happened to be patrolling the parking ramp and directed them to the suspects.

The suspects fled police, but were stopped when a second officer cut off their escape route. The suspect were arrested.

Olivia joined the military in 2005 and has two deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, the U.S. Army said. (For more from the author of “U.S. Army Recruiter Stops Shoplifters at Southdale Center While Pushing Stroller” please click HERE)

Bernie Loves to Cite Sweden, but Their Former PM Just Smacked Him Down

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) loves to cite Sweden as an example of the socialism he advocates for, but he likely didn’t appreciate the slap down he received from former Swedish prime minister over his love of communist Russia.

Carl Bildt tweeted a scathing sarcastic remark with a video of the Socialist Democrat.

“Bernie Sanders was lucky to be able to get to the Soviet Union in 1988 and praise all its stunning socialist achievements before the entire system and empire collapsed under the weight of its own spectacular failures,” Bildt tweeted. . .

“I think it’s also fair to point out that when we were in Moscow for example,” he said in the video, “I think most of the people here also were extremely impressed by their public transportation system, the stations themselves were absolutely beautiful, including many works of art, chandeliers that were very very beautiful. It was a very very effective system.

“Also I was impressed by the youth programs that they have, their palaces of culture for the young people,” he continued. “A whole variety of programs for the young people, and cultural programs which go far beyond what we do in this country.

How the Asylum Invasion Allows the Cartels to Flood Us With Criminals

It’s not just five-year-old children coming to our border, as depicted in many media accounts. Every week, we see more examples of violent criminal aliens in this country who have often been deported multiple times but find their way back into the country while our border agents are drafted into babysitting services for Central American migrants. This point was brought to the forefront last week when the Yuma sector Border Patrol caught two individuals with guns at our border within 48 hours.

Last Tuesday, according to CBP, while “a group of 25 Guatemalans made up of family members and juveniles surrendered to agents several miles east of the port of entry” in San Luis, Arizona, three Mexican human smugglers were caught bringing in six other Mexicans. They were caught with several loaded 9mm pistols, and the Special Operations Division was sent out to interdict them.

This was a very significant development, according to retired Texas Department of Public Safety Captain Jaeson Jones. In an interview with CR, Jones said he believes these people who come in armed while Border Patrol is dealing with the family units are working for the cartels. The question is how many more we don’t catch. “Firearms carried by smugglers into the United States bring extreme risk to our law enforcement and citizens,” said Jones. “Smugglers carry firearms into the country to protect high-value commodities that usually belong to higher-ranking members of the Mexican cartels.” Jones explained that the concern of them reacting in “desperation” to protect goods for the cartels is “why you see more specialized law enforcement units like Special Operations Division being utilized to arrest when intelligence indicates firearms are being used by smugglers.”

Jones told me his concerns about cartel smuggling were further confirmed when less than 48 hours later, CBP recovered another firearm from a multinational group arrested in the same area. Here is a picture of the firearm posted by CBP:

Notice the aftermarket changes and personalized markings on the weapon, from the initials to the diamond shapes on the polymer grips. Jones believes they are very significant. “Given that Mexico has some of the most stringent gun laws in the world, the only people carrying weapons will be those in authority or members of the cartels.”

Jones observed that the aftermarket personalization of the firearm is a hallmark of cartel weapons. “This weapon has had multiple enhancements like an aftermarket trigger, the slide has been cut to reduce slippage during manipulation under stress by the shooter, and the grip has diamonds cut into it to indicate wealth. … These are classic signs of the cartels.”

Now, consider the fact that the Border Patrol chief just testified yesterday before the House Judiciary Committee that 68 large groups of 100 or more Central American families have come over the border so far this year compared to 13 during the entire fiscal year 2018. Can you imagine how many more cartel and criminal elements were able to slip in while our agents were tied up, just as bad as the guys caught in Arizona?

We need not imagine. We see this every day in interior crimes committed not only by those whom we fail to deport, but by those who are deported and make it back into the country.

Last week, in Napa County, California, a sheriff’s deputy was nearly killed when an illegal alien fired at her at point-blank range during a traffic stop. Javier Hernandez, an illegal alien from Mexico, had an extensive criminal record. He was arrested for DUI and battery on a peace officer and had four ICE detainers placed on him, but got away because California is a sanctuary state. This is the all-important story of sanctuary cities and interior enforcement on display. But it’s also about border security. Hernandez was previously deported three times! How was he able to get back in?

There are examples of this huge problem every week.

Bionel Cervin-Gomez, another Mexican illegal alien, was arrested over the weekend for a hit-and-run homicide of an eight-month-old unborn child in Florida after allegedly driving while drunk and without a license. These stories go untold every day, as was the story of one mother, Aileen Smith, who related on my podcast last year her tragedy of losing her unborn child in an illegal alien drunk driving wreck. In this case, he was already previously deported. My wife just had to spend five hours one day this week waiting in line to renew her driver’s license because of the need to prove identity, while illegal aliens are able to break all our laws and steal identity with our own government accommodating it.

In another example of criminal aliens getting back into the country, the Justice Department just successfully convicted a Honduran illegal alien for re-entering the country on top of state rape charges. Juan Ramon-Vasquez was deported to Honduras in 2009, but came back again. In 2014, ICE placed a detainer on him, but the city of Philadelphia let him go. He went on to repeatedly rape a child. Once again, the mix of sanctuary cities and the ability to re-enter the country undetected is creating the ultimate public safety problem.

How do people like that keep entering our country? They do so while our Border Patrol is used as a hospital, babysitting service, bed and breakfast, and transportation hub for the world’s migrant populations. Nobody truly knows how many criminals come in undetected, and nobody even knows all of the illegal aliens who commit crimes but whose identities are covered up by sanctuary cities and judges. But clearly, it’s easy for even those with prior criminal records here to continuously come back.

Over the weekend, Tucson sector Border Patrol encountered 10 small groups totaling 75 people who, “in stark contrast to the large groups of Central American family units surrendering in recent months,” were “wearing camouflage clothing to avoid apprehension” in more remote areas. Thanks to the National Guard serving as a force multiplier, they were apprehended, but again, how many more are not?

This is why we not only need more border fencing and beefed-up military presence, but an end to all cross-border migration, which Trump can shut down through use of his executive and delegated authority to shut off all immigration. Just remember, every time you see a new caravan of poor Central Americans, another murderer, rapist, drug trafficker, and armed robber is able to sneak in with the help of cartels and transnational gangs so they can harm more Americans. Republicans Stop House Climate Change Hearing… Because Only Two Democrats Showed Up

Republicans shut down a hearing about climate change in the House of Representatives with a procedural vote that drives home the importance of just showing up.

House Democrats scheduled a hearing for Tuesday titled “The Denial Playbook: How Industries Manipulate Science and Policy from Climate Change to Public Health” for the Oversight and Investigations subcommittee of the House Natural Resources Committee.

The problem? More Republicans than Democrats showed up for the start of the hearing. So when Republicans wanted to call the whole thing off, Democrats didn’t have the votes to stop them.

I captured the highlights of the vote below, but full video of the short-lived hearing can be found here. (Action starts at 35:44.)

Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, moved to adjourn the hearing, saying that the subject of the hearing was “not within our jurisdiction.” The committee voted, and the motion to adjourn succeeded by a vote of 4-2.

Following the vote, subcommittee Chairman TJ Cox, D-Calif., formally adjourned the hearing but allowed the witnesses to testify in a “Democratic forum” on the subject.

For a political party whose members consistently warn about the apocalyptic dangers of climate change, not bothering to show up for a hearing is a really bad look. (For more from the author of “Republicans Stop House Climate Change Hearing… Because Only Two Democrats Showed Up” please click HERE)

Likely Prez Candidate Wants to Win Without Electoral College

By WND. Although Eric Holder hasn’t officially announced a run for the presidency in 2020, the former attorney general under Barack Obama says it’s time to abolish the Electoral College as the way to elect presidents. . .

In a separate tweet, supporting Colorado’s move to do eliminate the current method of choosing presidents, Holder said: “Change the Electoral College by having a state’s electoral votes go to the national popular vote winner – not the person who won the state. The candidate who gets the most votes – nationally – is elected. Real democracy.”

Holder’s comments came under immediate fire from Nick Searcy, the actor and director of the recent film “Gosnell.” . . .

Holder has said his decision on seeking the Democratic nomination for the White House would come sometime in March. (Read more from “Likely Prez Candidate Wants to Win Without Electoral College” HERE)

Colorado Governor Will Sign Bill Aimed at Bypassing Electoral College

By The Hill. Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) will sign a measure to award his state’s electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote, moving a countrywide coalition one step closer to circumventing the Electoral College.

In an interview Sunday, Polis called the Electoral College an “undemocratic relic” of the nation’s past, one he wants to see relegated to the dustbin of history.

“I’ve long supported electing the president by who gets the most votes,” Polis told The Hill. “It’s a way to move towards direct election of the president.”

Colorado will become the 12th state to join the national popular vote interstate compact. Those 12 states and the District of Columbia, which has also passed a popular-vote bill, account for 181 electoral votes, just under 90 shy of the 270 votes a presidential candidate needs to win the White House.

The compact will not go into effect until the coalition includes states that add up to 270 electoral votes or more. Once it does go into effect, states that are part of the coalition would award their electoral votes en masse to the candidate who wins the national popular vote. Pro-Life Advocate Abby Johnson Responds to Rating for Film

Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinical director who is now a well-known pro-life activist, is reportedly “unconcerned” that the controversial new movie about her life, “Unplanned,” has received an R-rating from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA.)

“We are pushing the boundaries of what has never been before on such a wide scale by showing America exactly what abortion is — and abortion is disturbing. It’s violent,” 38-year-old Johnson told Fox News in a written statement.

“In my opinion, one of the most impactful films of our time is ‘The Passion of the Christ.’ It was rated R. So I feel like ‘Unplanned’ is in good company. An R rating from the MPAA isn’t going to slow this movie down. I believe people are ready for the truth.”

Pure Flix is the company responsible for the production and distribution of the anti-abortion film, which is scheduled to be released on March 29. Though the filmmakers admit to having been initially surprised by the MPAA’s rating of the film, they also told Fox News that they’re not too concerned about it. . .

“I feel the fix is in,” [Investor Mike] Lindell told Fox News. “Whoever rated this movie must not be watching TV or videos on social media! I have a cameo in this movie and do not appreciate the R-rating. I got involved to get a message out to everyone with this true story. What a shame that some might be blocked by an R-rating from getting the truth. I hope millions of Americans will ignore this attempt at moviegoer suppression and flood the box office on opening day.” (Read more from “Pro-Life Advocate Abby Johnson Responds to Rating for Film” HERE)
