On Friday, the Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra broke the news that Ocasio-Cortez had seemingly changed her accent while speaking to a predominantly black crowd at Al Sharpton’s National Action Network.

“This is what organizing looks like, this is what building power looks like, this is what changing the country looks like, it’s when we choose to show up and occupy the room and talk about the things that matter most,” Ocasio-Cortez said with a Southern drawl. . .

Indeed, Ocasio-Cortez later claimed she was engaged in code-switching by using an accent familiar to her Bronx origin. On Twitter, she defended herself saying that Saavedra’s reporting churred the “conspiracy mills,” claiming she has previously used the accent in public. . .

While Twitter blocking previously carried no legal implications, seven people sued President Donald Trump last year for blocking them from viewing his personal Twitter account, @realDonaldTrump.

In a shocking ruling, federal District Court Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald ruled last May that Trump’s actions were unconstitutional and violated the First Amendment. Bernie Wants People to Vote From Prison

Campaigning in Iowa on Saturday, 2020 Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders said he thinks that convicted felons should be allowed to vote from behind bars.

Sanders represents Vermont in the Senate, one of only two states that allow felons to vote from prison currently. At a town hall meeting on Saturday, he was asked whether it should be a nationwide law. . .

“In my state, what we do is separate. You’re paying a price, you committed a crime, you’re in jail,” said Sanders, according to the Des Moines Register. “But you’re still living in American society and you have a right to vote. I believe in that, yes, I do.”

Thirteen states and Washington, D.C. currently specifically prohibit felons from voting only while incarcerated. Thirty states restore voting rights to felons after all time, including probation, has been served. That thirty includes Florida, which only made the change after the 2018 midterms. Unplanned Movie Is Having a Shocking Impact

Abby Johnson’s story of transforming from a Planned Parenthood clinic director to one of the most well-known pro-life advocates in America is a captivating journey of faith, hope and redemption — one that is taking the box office by storm. Audiences have flocked to see Johnson’s story as told in the new feature film “Unplanned.”

Johnson told “The Pure Flix Podcast” this week that she’s been blown away by the response to the film, which was the fourth most popular movie in America last weekend.

“It’s just really exciting, and just hearing all the stories of people who are going into this film pro-choice … and are walking out pro-life,” she said. “Every day I’m waking up to stories of people who are like, ‘Your film changed my mind … I can’t believe I ever supported abortion.'” . . .

Johnson said it has been “really incredible” to see the impact that “Unplanned” is having on the masses, explaining that the movie is truly sparking a collective movement. . .

Johnson is no stranger to changing hearts and minds. Her nonprofit, And Then There Were None, helps workers who are in the abortion industry find a way out. She herself was once a director of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Texas, before being asked to assist on an abortion. Ocasio-Cortez Comes up With New Excuse for Racist Accent

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) came up with a new excuse for the accent she used while addressing a black audience on Friday, suggesting that she had to “code switch” it because there would be “costs” associated with not doing it.

Ocasio-Cortez, who was condemned by many African-Americans for using the accent, initially claimed that those who were calling her out for the accent were trying to “distort” and “deflect” and that it was all a conspiracy theory.

The 29-year-old congresswoman — who regularly refers to those on the political Right as racists, white supremacists, and xenophobes — added that it was “so hurtful” that people would criticize her for using an accent.

After initially claiming that the Right was trying to “distort” and “deflect,” Ocasio-Cortez did just that in adopting her new explanation for her behavior, as she tried to change the topic by presenting herself as a victim while talking about her hair.

“Next time you‘re told straight hair is ‘unprofessional’ & that speaking like your parents do is ‘uneducated,’ then you can complain about code-switching,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Code switching is a tool communities learn when they’re told their voice, appearance, & mannerisms are ‘unprofessional.'”

Actor Praises Trump for Supporting Black Agenda

Actor Isaiah Washington, who previously starred on “Grey’s Anatomy,” praised President Donald Trump for supporting the black agenda last week and slammed former President Barack Obama for not.

“Washington was at the White House to see the celebrate a prison reform bill, the First Step Act, which is focused on inmate rehabilitation,” The Daily Mail reported. “Congress passed legislation last year called the First Step Act that gives judges more discretion when sentencing some drug offenders and boosts prisoner rehabilitation efforts.”

“I voted for 44 twice. I even checked my emails in his Senate Office while lobbying for Salone to be given another chance to rebrand,” Washington tweeted. “Not once in 8 years was I given any support regarding Africa or the Black Agenda, but 45 invites me to the WH to celebrate the #FirstStepAct”

Ocasio-Cortez Is Wrong Again – the World Will NOT End in 12 Years

Only a few days after being sworn in as a member of Congress, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. summarized a 2018 U.N. report on climate change with a dire prediction. The frequently repeated line “we have only 12 years left” is now in the lexicon of almost every Democratic presidential candidate and environmental activist nationwide. . .

As The Associated Press reported last month: “There is no scientific consensus, much less unanimity, that the planet only has 12 years to fix the problem (of climate change). A report by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, drawn from the work of hundreds of scientists, uses 2030 as a prominent benchmark because signatories to the Paris agreement have pledged emission cuts by then. But it’s not a last chance, hard deadline for action, as it has been interpreted in some quarters.”

Nevertheless, Ocasio-Cortez won’t let facts stand in the way of outrage. Paraphrasing the young self-described socialist representative herself: it is more important to be morally right than factually correct. . .

The real climate change debate – the one radical environmentalists refuse to have – is twofold: to what extent does human activity contribute to climate change, and how much of our economy and freedoms need to be surrendered to government as a result? . . .

As Ocasio Cortez and the ever-growing number of Democratic presidential candidates crisscross the nation (using fossil fuels), let’s hope they stop using the “12 years left” unscientific hyperbole. The American people deserve a serious conversation about energy and environmental policy, not the repeated exaggerations of a political agenda. DHS Secretary Abruptly Resigns

President Trump announced Sunday afternoon that Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen “will be leaving her position” after 16 months in the job.

Trump also announced that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Kevin McAleenan will replace Nielsen as acting secretary, tweeting: “I have confidence that Kevin will do a great job!”

Nielsen tweeted Sunday evening that she had submitted her resignation and added: “Its [sic] been an honor of a lifetime to serve with the brave men and women of @DHSgov. I could not be prouder of and more humbled by their service, dedication, and commitment to keep our country safe from all threats and hazards.” She included an image of a resignation letter to Trump in which she wrote: “Despite our progress in reforming homeland security for a new age, I have determined that it is the right time for me to step aside.” . . .

Nielsen met with Trump at the White House Sunday amid an ongoing influx of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border that has been taxing America’s immigration system and sparking frustration within the administration. The Associated Press, citing two sources, reported that Nielsen had been frustrated with the difficulty of getting other departments to help deal with the growing number of families crossing the southwestern border. At the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Conference at the Washington Hilton, Biden brought up some kid, put his arms around him and said, “He gave me permission to touch him all right?…Everyone knows I like kids better than people.”

Biden Walks Into Trump’s Punchline

By The Hill. President Trump mocked Joe Biden on Friday, saying he didn’t see the former vice president as a threat because he’s “only a threat to himself.”

Hours later, Biden may have proved the president’s point.

Seeking to move on from the controversy over allegations of unwanted touching and kissing from women, Biden offered jokes and a non-apology in front of a union crowd in Washington, D.C.

The performance received mixed reviews at best, with some commentators questioning whether Biden, a politician with a long history of gaffes, was taking the criticism of his behavior seriously.

Muslim Asylum Seeker Kills Wife for Converting to Christianity

Iranian asylum seeker Dana Abdullah stabbed Avan Najmadiein, his estranged wife and 32-year-old mother of four, 50 times in October and left her to die after discovering that she refused to support his application to stay in the U.K., according to the BBC.

Abdullah, 35, returned illegally to the U.K. after being deported in 2013 for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl and he previously threatened to kill his wife because she “dishonored” him by converting to Christianity, authorities said.

“It does show that you are not someone of good character and, having been deported for that matter, you chose to come back into this country illegally and have committed this very serious crime,” Judge Michael Chambers said of Abdullah, according to Premier. . .

Detective Victoria Downing characterized Abdullah as “an arrogant and controlling man,” asserting that he killed Najmadiein because he resented her rejection, her refusal to support his application and her conversion to Christianity.

Abdullah murdered Najmadiein with a kitchen knife at her home on Oct. 1, 2018, tried to set her kitchen ablaze in an attempt to erase evidence, then fled, initially to Liverpool, England, and then to Glasgow, Scotland. Authorities discovered Najmadiein’s body at her home when she failed to pick her children up from school. All of her children were under the age of eight at the time. Family of 8 Died in Murder-Suicide After Lesbians Drove Their Children off a Cliff

By The Daily Caller. A California coroner’s jury decided late Thursday that a lesbian couple killed themselves and their six adopted children by driving off a cliff in March 2018.

After a Wednesday coroner’s inquest, the jury found Jennifer and Sarah Hart killed themselves and murdered their family March 26, 2018, when they drove off a cliff in Mendocino County, The Associated Press reported. . .

Authorities opened an investigation into the couple’s alleged mistreatment of their children just days before the fatal crash, sending social workers to the house March 23, according to the AP. The Harts left their home in Woodland, Washington, and drove to northern California, where they died.

Records recovered from Sarah Hart’s phone show deleted searches about suicide, Benadryl dosage methods, and whether drowning is painful, according to California Highway Patrol investigator Jake Slates.

After recovering the family’s bodies, authorities determined Sarah Hart had toxic levels of Benadryl in her body, according to Mendocino County Sheriff Deputy Robert Julian. Hart Family of 8 Died by Murder-Suicide in Cliff Crash, Jury Finds

By AP. The deaths drew national attention, partly because the women were alleged to have abused their children. The body of Devonte Hart, 15, who was black and had gained attention when he was photographed in tears while hugging a white police officer during a 2014 protest in Portland, Oregon, has not been recovered.

Jurors were instructed to choose from four manners of death for each of the eight people: natural causes, suicide, accident or an intentional act by another. They sat through nearly two full days of testimony.

“It is my belief that both Jennifer and Sarah succumbed to a lot of pressure,” sheriff’s Lt.
