Alaska Officials Warn of Common Animal Spreading Deadly Disease to People, Pets

. . .In a news release late last month, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game announced it had received calls about an “abundance” of hares — some of which were dead — in the Fairbanks area.

The dead hares could have possibly contracted an infectious disease known as tularemia. The disease, which is caused by the Francisella tularensis bacteria, “is most often diagnosed in hares and pets in the Interior between Memorial Day and Labor Day because it is spread by hare and vole ticks which are active during the summer. The tick species known to carry the bacteria prefer hares and rodents, but will occasionally bite dogs, cats, or people,” the wildlife agency said.

Additionally, the agency noted, two species of dog ticks “have become established around urban areas in Alaska and are capable of spreading the bacteria.”

Pets can also contract the disease from “mouthing or catching” hares that have tularemia. If a pet is infected, people, too, can contract tularemia via their pet’s saliva or by handling infected hares. And, according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, people can become infected “even before the pet exhibits signs of illness.”

There are multiple types of tularemia, per the Mayo Clinic. But in the most common form of the disease — ulceroglandular tularemia — signs in humans typically include fever, chills, exhaustion, a skin ulcer at the infection site and swollen and painful lymph glands. Infected pets, too, can show similar signs, such as lethargy, high fever and swollen lymph nodes, according to the wildlife department. Professor’s Stance on Illegal Immigration Prompts Call for Firing

By Fox News. A college professor in Georgia is drawing criticism for his online comments about illegal immigrants, including his contention that people in the U.S. illegally can be a drain on the nation’s economy.

“If you are going to reward illegal immigrants, there will be more illegal immigrants,” Fang Zhou, an associate professor of history at Georgia Gwinnett College near Atlanta, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Zhou says he welcomes the criticism, including from those who say he should lose his job, according to the report.

“I am against political correctness,” Zhou, a legal immigrant from China, told the newspaper. “I speak truth to power in class and my students learn about the financial drain of illegal immigration on the economy and the high crime rates of illegal immigrants.

“My students are ‘woke’ and are overwhelmingly against illegal immigration after taking my class,” he added.

Texas Teacher Fired for Asking Trump on Twitter to Remove Illegal-Alien Students

By National Review. A high-school teacher in Texas was fired this week after asking President Trump for his assistance in removing illegal-immigrant students from her school, in what she thought were private tweets.

Georgia Clark, who taught English at the Carter-Riverside High School for 20 years, was fired on Tuesday after eight members of the school board voted unanimously in favor of her termination. The vote came three weeks after Clark asked the president to deport students she believed to be in the country illegally.

“Mr. President, Fort Worth Independent School District is loaded with illegal students from Mexico,” Clark wrote May 17 on her now-deleted Twitter account, @Rebecca1939.

“Anything you can do to remove the illegals from Fort Worth would be greatly appreciated,” she wrote in another tweet.

A copy of the school board’s review of Clark’s conduct, obtained by the Washington Post, shows that she believed she was communicating privately with the president when she sent the public tweets. Woman Reportedly Decapitated While Trying to Free Headphones from Elevator

By The NY Post. . .The severed head of Sushila Vishwakarma was discovered on the ground floor of the plastics factory in Vadodara, while her body was in the elevator that traveled to the third floor.

Police believe the 48-year-old was trying to free her headphones from the elevator’s collapsible grill as she arrived at work at 8 a.m. Monday, according to the Indian Express. . .

“We are speculating that she was using her phone and absentmindedly she tried to stick her head outside the lift, which started going up, and the accident happened,” investigating officer MN Saporiya told the paper. “So her body was dragged ’til the last floor and her head got severed.”

Bapod police Inspector TR Bamaniya told the Express that they hope an autopsy will reveal more. (Read more from “Woman Reportedly Decapitated While Trying to Free Headphones from Elevator” HERE)

Medieval Diseases Spreading in Los Angeles Prove Twisted Democrat Priorities Endanger Public Health

Americans don’t have to look as far as Venezuela to see the massive failure of a government incapable of delivering the basics of what people need from their government. A brief look at California shows how the twisted priorities of Democrat political leadership are creating a dangerous environment for the residents of the Golden State.

While combatting climate change remains a top priority for Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democrat Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, the streets of California’s cities are filled with homeless camps, garbage, and disease-spreading rats.

In a throwback to medieval times, Los Angeles is facing an infectious disease epidemic caused by flea-borne disease linked to rat-infested streets. Last October, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued a health alert surrounding an outbreak of flea-borne typhus in the homeless population in downtown Los Angeles.

A month later, Deputy City Attorney Liz Greenwood was diagnosed with typhus, which she claims came from fleas carried by rats that are infesting City Hall and an adjacent building, City Hall East, where she worked.

Greenwood filed a $5 million lawsuit against the city, claiming she contracted typhus because the mayor and others in the city government did not clean up garbage on nearby streets, which allowed rats and fleas to flourish.

The type of typhus found in Los Angeles is called murine typhus, caused by a bacteria called Rickettsia typhi. The infection occurs when infected flea feces enters a person’s body through a cut or the eyes. Rats and other small animals carry the fleas into areas in close proximity to humans, where the exposure occurs. The symptoms include fever, headache, and joint and muscle pain, and it’s cured by antibiotics. If typhus is untreated, it can result in serious injury to organs.

Citing the California Department of Heath, NBC4 reported a new record of 124 cases of typhus in Los Angeles County in 2018.

In a related public health matter, the Central Division station of the Los Angeles Police Department had a rodent problem and other health-related issues and was fined for six violations by the California Department of Industrial Relations.

The department was faulted for “not having a program to exterminate and control rats, fleas, roaches, gnats, mosquitoes or grasshoppers in the building.”

One police officer from the Central Division recently contracted typhoid fever, which is caused by Salmonella Typhi, a different bacteria from that causing typhus. The source of the officer’s infection has not been determined yet.

Unlike typhus, typhoid fever can be a life-threatening disease and is not linked to fleas. Typhoid fever is a rare disease in the U.S. and can be spread by people or through contaminated water.

Solving the typhus problem is not rocket science and doesn’t require quantum physics. It’s basic epidemiology. The truth is you don’t need sophisticated equipment or a genius-level IQ to diagnose the problem. All you need is a pair of eyes and common sense. The rise in homelessness is leading to filth and garbage on the streets that attract rats and fleas.

The number of homeless in the city of Los Angeles has shot up 16 percent to over 36,000, reaching almost 59,000 in Los Angeles County in 2019. Remove the homeless from the streets and clean up the garbage, and the problem is solved.

A report on the source of the rat problem at City Hall was recently unearthed via a public records search. Predictably, the report blamed the homeless on the streets for the rat infestation, but for some reason, city elected officials did not publicized the study’s results. This correlates with the reluctance of city leaders to point to homeless camps as the root cause of the public health problem.

For some reason, the simplest possible solution is over the head of Mayor Garcetti. NBC4 News reported the city allows garbage to sit on the streets for months and has not implemented an aggressive program to eliminate the rat problem.

Unfortunately for Californians, their elected officials are worried about global issues such as climate change instead of basic sanitation and public health.

California is taking the lead on addressing climate change. The state has a cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and a goal of generating 100 percent carbon-free electricity by 2045.

Garcetti has Los Angeles joining the Green New Deal parade. The mayor’s plan targets transportation with a goal of having 80 percent of cars powered by electricity or zero-emission technology and to have city residents drive fewer miles each year.

Meanwhile, disease-carrying rats are running the streets and infesting city buildings.

Los Angeles should serve as a warning sign to Americans that twisted Democrat priorities can deliver third-world results. (For more from the author of “Medieval Diseases Spreading in Los Angeles Prove Twisted Democrat Priorities Endanger Public Health” please click HERE)

Hundreds of Illegals Get Away as Just 14 Agents Patrol Extensive, Highly Trafficked County

The shocking May border apprehension numbers are bad enough, but what is worse is what we are not seeing coming in, but is getting in nonetheless because of the catch-and-release of Central American families.

Sunday’s Border Patrol statistics from just one Texas county tell the story of a border crisis that is more of a national security issue than just an immigration problem.

On Tuesday, Jaeson Jones, a retired Texas Department of Public Safety captain who used to manage the daily operations of the Texas Rangers’ Border Security Operations Center (BSOC) tweeted out the following:

I reached out to Jones for an exclusive interview to distill these numbers. He tells me what the politicians are missing and what the president is not getting briefed on is that the Gulf Cartel in the Rio Grande Valley is strategically controlling the flow of migrants so that they can get in more “criminals, cartel members, drugs, weapons, and special interest aliens than anyone can imagine.”

His sources tell him that last Sunday, 1,232 illegals were apprehended in Starr County alone. But what happens when Border Patrol is pulled off the line transporting and processing bogus asylum claims?

When the surges of Central American families are happening, all Border Patrol agents are pulled off the line to support the humanitarian effort, meaning we are borderless. From what I’m hearing, they are averaging 14 agents remaining on patrol for the entire 68 miles of Starr County. That is when the cartels send in all the drugs, criminal aliens, and SIAs. Plus, they send money and weapons south from the cartel associates who are already residing in the Rio Grande Valley. All of those flows of migrants and transfer of drugs, weapons, and criminals are coordinated activities.

For months, Customs and Border Protection’s political brass has been warning how bad people and items are getting in while Border Patrol is tied down. CBP in Tucson warned yesterday, “Transnational criminal organizations are employing dangerous and unconventional methods to smuggle humans and drugs into the United States, hindering law enforcement and first responder capabilities.”

Now, Jones is putting a number on that. Just this Sunday, Jones said, there were 347 known “got aways.” Again, that is just in one county on one day. Given how generously we are offering status to anyone who comes here, “one has to fear that many of the got aways are the worst of the worst” who really don’t want to get apprehended, according to Jones.

I asked Jones how Border Patrol collates this daily data on got aways. As a former commander of Texas’s Border Security Operations Center, he helped collate for state law enforcement all the intel from CBP as well as from local law enforcement as part of Operation Secure Texas like no other border state government. “BSOC has 30+ analysts who pull all border data from all agencies and collates them and then shares it with local, state and federal officials.”

“It’s a multi-layered approach,” explained Jones. “First, we have thousands of sensors in the ground that notifies us about foot or vehicle traffic crossing the border. Next, there are thousands upon thousands of ‘Drawbridge cameras’ that spot the actual bodies coming over in addition to tall tower cameras that scan the broader area. Unlike other state governments, in Texas, we invested millions in this technology.”

Finally, Jones explained the feds have their Aerostat blimps equipped with sensors as well as their helicopters and drones. Border Patrol begins the data collation by counting footprints in the ground and adding them to the hits they get on all the cameras and sensors. Then they compare those suspected infiltrations against the apprehension numbers. “The difference between the two is the rough estimation of how many people got away that day in the given area of operation.” Hence, this is how Border Patrol estimates there were 347 got aways on Sunday in Starr County.

I reached out to CBP’s press office for comment confirming or denying Sunday’s got away numbers but have not received a statement as of publication.

I did, however, confirm with a line agent in the Rio Grande Valley Sector that there were indeed 347 “known got aways” on Sunday in Starr County. The agent, who must remain anonymous because he is not authorized to speak to the press, also confirmed, that “in recent days, Border Patrol has been forced to divert 70-75% of resources in parts of Texas to deal with the humanitarian care.” He told me that Starr is the second most trafficked area for both human smuggling (behind Hidalgo County, Texas) and drugs (behind Ajo Arizona station).

This veteran agent was certain that the number of got aways is likely an undercount. “Cutting sign,” which means counting the footprints of the got aways, “is often difficult.” “The guides will often brush out the sign, walk in hard-packed areas, or travel in thick brush, Caliche or on hard-paved roads.” Much of the traffic in those areas is unaccounted for.

The fact that our immigration policies are allowing cartels to tie down all but a handful of agents for 68 miles and smuggle in hundreds of dangerous people and goods should make this a national defense issue, not an immigration issue. Even if the president didn’t have immigration authority to shut down all asylum requests, which he does, his power as commander-in-chief should allow him to shut it down just on account of the national security problems it creates, as it is used as the prime strategic weapon of our enemies.

The veteran border agent has had it and said morale is very low. “So much of our Texas border is wide open many days. The cartel, just like any other insurgency, watches and records our every move… so they can gain the upper hand in ALL their OPERATIONS. They see how we responded to the traffic… They see how we are not prosecuting… They see how the government has left us behind,” Jones messaged. Green New Deal Rep. Makes Insane Climate Change Remarks

On Thursday, policy director at New Consensus and one of the minds behind the Green New Deal, Rhiana Gunn-Wright, appeared on MSNBC with host Ali Velshi.

During the segment, Gunn-Wright compared the cost of not acting on climate change to the number of deaths that came about as a result of the Holocaust, times 25 (emphasis added):

VELSHI: A CNN/SSRS poll indicates that 82 percent of Democrats say that aggressive action on climate change is necessary. How do you … make the argument that [climate change] needs a separate discussion? Why not health care?

GUNN-WRIGHT: So, in the issues that you just brought up, climate change is one of the main drivers of our public health. So, the difference between, say, 1.5 degrees of warming – which is the least that folks think that we can get – to two, you’re talking about 150 million deaths. That’s 25 Holocausts, right? So, how is that not a health issue? How is that not about health care, right?

You’re talking about immigration. Climate change is going to bring hundreds of millions of climate migrants, of climate refugees, both from outside the U.S. and inside the U.S. as you see people move. So, even the issues that you outline, all of them are affected by climate change – and how you decide to deal with climate is how you decide to deal with all of these other issues.

Democrat Rep: My ‘Lizard Brain’ Wants ‘Bad Things’ to Happen to Trump

Democrat Rep. Jim Himes (CT) said during a Thursday interview on CNN that his “lizard brain” wants to see “bad things” happen to President Donald Trump.

“Let me press you, Congressman,” CNN’s Wolf Blitzer said. “Do you want to see the president of the United States in jail?”

“More than anything else, Wolf, I don’t — this isn’t about my feelings or about retribution,” Himes responded. “The lizard brain that I have says I hope bad things happen to this man because he has been so destructive to our republic, to the concept of democracy, to the concept that, internationally, we are a light unto the nations.”

“So yes, I have my emotional reactions but, look, we’re a nation that is of a rule of — we are a nation of laws,” Himes continued. “So what I really hope — and this is me personally speaking — what I really hope is that if impeachment is not a mechanism of accountability — and I will tell you flat out that I can’t imagine anything happening, anything at all happening that would cause the Senate to convict and, therefore, remove this president — so impeachment stops in the House, in my opinion, my real hope is, that in 2020, the American voters look into their hearts, think about the generation that we’ve been celebrating today, who, as young men, decided that they would give their lives for this country.”

Google FIRES Conservative Employee for Revealing Company Bias

By The Daily Caller. The Republican Google engineer who penned an open letter about the company’s “outrage mobs” and “witch hunts” was fired on Friday, The Daily Caller has learned. . .

The day before his suspension, Wacker went on Fox Business to discuss the company’s anti-conservative bias, telling Trish Regan, “You don’t know what’s going to offend somebody next and a lot of time they are going to HR over these trivial things.” . . .

The firing came just before news broke over the weekend that the Department of Justice was preparing an antitrust probe into the search giant. The company filed an appeal yesterday against a $1.7 billion antitrust penalty imposed by the European Commission over AdSense, Google’s ad sales platform. Google’s Outrage Mobs and Witch Hunts

By Mike Wacker. Google has become a company where outrage mobs and witch hunts dominate its culture. These outrage mobs and witch hunts have become an existential threat not only to Google’s culture internally, but to Google’s trust and credibility externally.

Google has long claimed to be a nonpartisan company, yet like many other tech companies, they also maintain many policies against “hate speech”. How do we reconcile these two apparently conflicting goals? While this statement came from a spokesperson for Facebook, it could just as easily apply to Google, Twitter, and many other tech companies. . .

So what exactly is the definition of hate speech? Well, let’s just ask the outrage mobs at Google that succeeded. One outrage mob formed when Google sponsored CPAC, and they created an internal petition titled, “Google, Don’t Sponsor Hate.” Another outrage mob formed when Kay Coles James, President of the Heritage Foundation, was appointed to an AI ethics panel, and they created an external petition from a Medium account called “Googlers Against Transphobia and Hate.”

But don’t worry, these outrage mobs are not opposed to all conservatives. They are only opposed to the “hateful” conservatives. (Read more from “Google’s Outrage Mobs and Witch Hunts” HERE)

Will Trump Draw the Line at the May Border Numbers?

Just three months ago to the day, I posted an analysis of the February border numbers, which were referred to at the time as “bonkers” and surpassing a “breaking point.” Well, three months later, with no “1182(f) shutdown” of immigration requests at the border triggered by the president, those very uncharted numbers have now DOUBLED.

Yesterday, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that the number of illegal aliens apprehended at the border in May was roughly 144,000, a 32 percent increase from what we thought were unconscionable numbers in April. A whopping 132,887 were caught between points of entry and 11,391 at points of entry. The real shocker is that the total number of individuals coming in family units or as unaccompanied minors surged passed 100,000 for the first time, crushing April’s record by roughly 40 percent.

Now is the time for the president to either give a speech suspending all asylum requests and launching an operation against the cartels or cease calling this a sovereign nation.

The famous adage, “The Constitution is not a suicide pact,” came from Justice Robert Jackson, the great champion of individual rights and due process, the lead prosecutor at Nuremberg, and the lead dissenter in the Japanese internment case. He used this concept in his dissent in Terminiello v. Chicago (1949) after his fellow justices at the Supreme Court ruled that a Chicago ordinance leading to the conviction of a fascist speaker for speech that “stirs the public to anger, invites dispute, brings about a condition of unrest, or creates a disturbance” was unconstitutional.

Despite the fact that this disorderly conduct conviction, overturned by the majority of his colleagues, was a direct infringement upon the unambiguous and most foundational First Amendment rights of an individual citizen of the United States, Jackson famously wrote in his dissent that you reach a point when “the choice is not between order and liberty. It is between liberty with order and anarchy without either.” He warned in a dissent joined by three other justices, “There is danger that, if the Court does not temper its doctrinaire logic with a little practical wisdom, it will convert the constitutional Bill of Rights into a suicide pact.”

Despite the flagrant constitutional violation by Chicago of the rights of a U.S. citizen, Jackson felt that the majority had reached the point of “accepting the doctrine that civil liberty means the removal of all restraints to maintain order.” He believed that treating this one aspect of the Constitution as a suicide pact “in the long run” would make “maintenance of free speech … more endangered if the population can have no protection from the abuses which lead to violence.”

Jackson’s broad principle is pure common sense of human survival. It was just a question of whether, in this particular case, upholding a strict view of the First Amendment would indeed cross that line. Five of his colleagues disagreed.

But what would they say in this case, when the Constitution gives the president foreign affairs powers to block entry into the country? When the law itself says these people, if the president chooses to let them in, “shall be detained” and placed in expedited removal? And yet, a single California judge grants standing for foreign nationals to sue for a phantom right to immigrate and not be detained, thereby trampling the social compact and sovereignty of every American citizen, empowering the cartels to bring in drugs, gangs, criminals, and weapons, and saddling American communities with the bill.

The cascading effects of an open border are insane enough, but with cartels orchestrating that flow, it is downright suicidal. Uninterrupted case law gives the president full authority to shut off migration, and his foreign affairs and military powers give him the authority to shut this down to deal with the cartels without any judicial intervention. This principle “has become about as firmly embedded in the legislative and judicial tissues of our body politic as any aspect of our government,” not “merely” by “a page of history … but a whole volume” (Galvan v. Press). The concept is “inherent in sovereignty,” consistent with “ancient principles” of international law, and “to be exercised exclusively by the political branches of government” (Kleindienst v. Mandel).

Indeed, Justice Jackson is the one who famously said, “Due process does not invest any alien with a right to enter the United States, nor confer on those admitted the right to remain against the national will” (Shaughnessy v. Mezei, (1953)). An alien’s claim to enter, much less a mass population transfer spawned by criminal organizations, is as antithetical to a fundamental civil liberty as fire is to water. The law could never impede a government from protecting the ultimate public order of national borders.

In fact, even as it relates to the Bill of Rights and freedom of speech for Americans, the Supreme Court in Feiner v. New York (1951), just two years after the Chicago case, sided with police in Syracuse, New York, who arrested a man for inciting a mob. Irving Feiner caused a riot in Syracuse in March 1949 when he urged black people to “rise up in arms and fight for equal rights” and was arrested and charged with breaching the peace after police told him three times to stop. This time, a majority of the court joined Jackson and believed that the facts on the ground showed that allowing an individual right to inhibit governmental action would be a bridge too far.

The majority opinion noted that civil liberties cannot make governments “powerless to prevent a breach of the peace” or to use “considered judgement” when “faced with a crisis” to exercise “their power and duty to preserve peace and order” given, among other factors, “the existing situation and the imminence of greater disorder.”

Could you imagine how the breach of peace, the crisis, and the existing imminent disorder at our international border would have been regarded by any judge of previous generations, weighed against an illegal alien’s “claim” to enter and fuel the mayhem?

Even with regard to habeas corpus rights of Americans, Article 1, Section 9 of the Constitution states that “the Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.” While Chief Justice Roger Taney ruled that this emergency power only applied to Congress, President Lincoln disagreed and ordered the military to suspend habeas corpus rights in Maryland to prevent a rebellion.

During his July 4, 1861, address to Congress, Lincoln famously asked in defense of his action, “Are all the laws but one to go unexecuted, and the Government itself go to pieces lest that one be violated? Even in such a case, would not the official oath be broken if the Government should be overthrown when it was believed that disregarding the single law would tend to preserve it?”

Lincoln noted that the president must look to “the whole of the laws” and not let them collapse due to the fear of a “single law” being violated to “a limited extent.”

Again, even if the president didn’t have the power to deny entry into this country and even if we didn’t know that this is a prima facie fraud, there is no way someone could read asylum law so literally and stringently as to include a mass smuggling invasion that is so detrimental to this country when it violates the letter and spirit of every other area of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Nobody is asking President Trump to violate any law or constitutional right to prevent the global migration from dissolving this country. He merely needs to use delegated and inherent authority to shut off an orchestrated and criminal conspiracy of mass smuggling. Are we going to allow one judge’s interpretation of asylum law to shred every other immigration law for the benefit of millions of aliens and the cartels at the expense of all American citizens? Are we really prepared to allow all laws but the fake law of catch-and-release to go unexecuted so that our country go to pieces on behalf of people who have no right to be here? President Trump’s D-Day Speech Draws Praise from Unexpected Sources

President Donald Trump paid tribute to the thousands of men who sacrificed their lives for liberty in a speech commemorating the 75th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy on Thursday.

“These men ran through the fires of hell moved by a force no weapon could destroy: the fierce patriotism of a free, proud, and sovereign people, the president said in the widely praised speech. “They battled not for control and domination, but for liberty, democracy, and self-rule.” . . .

“This is perhaps the most on-message moment of Donald Trump’s presidency today,” said CNN’s Jim Acosta.

We were all wondering if he would veer from his remarks, go off of his script but he stayed on script, stayed on message and, I think, rose to the moment. As he was talking about the men gathered behind them, he described them as being among the greatest Americans who have ever lived. That could not be more of a fact-check true if we could have found one. It was really one of those moments that Donald Trump needed to rise to in order to, I think, walk away from the cemetery, walk away from this hallowed ground and have people back at home saying, you know what, no matter what I think about the current president of the United States, he said the right thing at Normandy. He did the right thing at Normandy. He really hit all of the right moments in that speech when he was paying respect to these heroes who were still with us.

Over on MSNBC, the frequently Trump-deranged Joe Scarborough was also uncharacteristically approving of Trump’s performance. (Read more from “President Trump’s D-Day Speech Draws Praise from Unexpected Sources” HERE)
