Why Liberals Need to Shut Their Faces About Tanks Appearing During Trump’s Independence Day Event

Right now, we have a near Chernobyl-level style blow up over tanks and armored vehicles being part of the Fourth of July festivities this week. President Trump ordered it. It was a great decision. And the fact that the Left is triggered by this means that he should have ordered more tanks for the event. Tanks have been present for victory parades before. The optics is fine. No one cares about that. Americans are patriotic and they like seeing tanks. The only people who have problems with all of this are the Democratic Party and their allies in the media because Trump has taken over the event. He can do that. He should do that. And the Left just needs to shut their face over this.

If a Democrat took over this event and put tanks on display, there would be no criticism. After the Democratic debates, I don’t want to hear lectures from Democrats about patriotism. They care more about illegal aliens than citizens. That was made explicitly clear.

Tlaib Had a Sudden Awakening and Now Understands What Border Patrol Agents Have Said for Years

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) on Wednesday spoke with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer about the Democratic caucus’ trip to the southern border, where they toured multiple facilities in Texas. What’s interesting though, is Tlaib said exactly what Border Patrol agents have been saying for years.

“I can tell you that the couple of agents that have taken me aside were imploring me to please, report back what’s happening here because they don’t want any part of it anymore,” Tlaib explained. “And they do actually feel like it’s making us less safe because they’re not at the border. You know, in their eyes, they’re not social workers. They’re not supposed to be watching over 4-year-olds, you know, some nine and 10 year olds. These are not agents that are equipped to taking care of them and throwing money at it is not going to fix it.”

She then used the opportunity to hammer on the Trump administration for not “fixing” the problem. . .

For years Border Patrol agents have repeatedly asked for additional resources. We saw it happen in 2014, when a surge of illegal aliens flocked to our southern border. Detainees were being bused from Texas to other parts of the country for processing because the system was so overwhelmed. Agents were physically pulled from the southern border to process detainees, leaving our nation wide open to anyone and everyone wanting in. But, as always, nothing changed. The Obama administration rode out the public relation crisis, which essentially put a band aid on a major wound. Thomas Jefferson 50 Years After the Declaration: Never Forget What Independence Really Means

Every American should be aware of the famous words that Thomas Jefferson wrote for the Declaration of Independence in 1776. However, the lesser-known words that the elderly former president wrote for the document’s semicentennial celebration 50 years later still ring just as true for our grand experiment in human liberty today.

Jefferson had been invited to a special 50th anniversary celebration of the Declaration of Independence, but due to his poor health and age (he had just turned 83 a few months before), the document’s author wasn’t able to make the journey.

In his stead, he sent a meticulously written letter (his last public one) of thanks for the invitation to Washington, D.C., Mayor Roger Chew Weightman. In the now-famous letter, Jefferson says that being unable to attend makes his ailments even worse to bear, but also expresses his lasting hope that the American experiment will continue to be a beacon of liberty to people throughout the world, inspiring them “to assume the blessings & security of self government.”

“All eyes are opened, or opening, to the rights of man,” Jefferson continues. “For ourselves, let the annual return of this day for ever refresh our recollections of these rights, and an undiminished devotion to them.”

And that’s exactly what Independence Day should really be about, folks.

Here’s the text of the letter in full:

Respected Sir,

The kind invitation I receive from you on the part of the citizens of the city of Washington, to be present with them at their celebration of the 50th. anniversary of American independance; as one of the surviving signers of an instrument pregnant with our own, and the fate of the world, is most flattering to myself, and heightened by the honorable accompaniment proposed for the comfort of such a journey. it adds sensibly to the sufferings of sickness, to be deprived by it of a personal participation in the rejoicings of that day. but acquiescence is a duty, under circumstances not placed among those we are permitted to controul. I should, indeed, with peculiar delight, have met and exchanged there congratulations personally with the small band, the remnant of that host of worthies, who joined with us on that day, in the bold and doubtful election we were to make for our country, between submission or the sword; and to have enjoyed with them the consolatory fact, that our fellow citizens, after half a century of experience and prosperity, continue to approve the choice we made. may it be to the world, what I believe it will be, (to some parts sooner, to others later, but finally to all,) the Signal of arousing men to burst the chains, under which monkish ignorance and superstition had persuaded them to bind themselves, and to assume the blessings & security of self-government. that form which we have substituted, restores the free right to the unbounded exercise of reason and freedom of opinion. all eyes are opened, or opening, to the rights of man. the general spread of the light of science has already laid open to every view. the palpable truth, that the mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them legitimately, by the grace of god. these are grounds of hope for others. for ourselves, let the annual return of this day forever refresh our recollections of these rights, and an undiminished devotion to them.

I will ask permission here to express the pleasure with which I should have met my ancient neighbors of the City of Washington and of it’s vicinities, with whom I passed so many years of a pleasing social intercourse; an intercourse which so much relieved the anxieties of the public cares, and left impressions so deeply engraved in my affections, as never to be forgotten. with my regret that ill health forbids me the gratification of an acceptance, be pleased to receive for yourself, and those for whom you write, the assurance of my highest respect and friendly attachments.

What?! Poll Finds 40 Percent of Americans Want to Foot the Bill for Illegal Aliens’ Health Care

Most Americans don’t believe that their tax dollars should go to fund health care benefits for those who have entered the country illegally, but a surprisingly high minority does, according to a new CNN poll.

The CNN survey of 1,613 American adults — conducted by independent research company SSRS — found that while 58 percent of Americans are opposed to the idea of taxpayer-funded health insurance for illegal aliens, 38 percent of respondents were on board with the idea; 3 percent were undecided.

Unsurprisingly, two-thirds (66 percent) of Democrats surveyed said they supported taxpayer-backed health insurance for illegal immigrants, while only a scant 10 percent of self-described Republicans supported it. And 63 percent of independents said they opposed the idea, as opposed to the 34 percent in favor of it.

The poll also found similar enthusiasm levels between Republicans and Democrats on voting in next year’s presidential election. 75 percent of Democrats answered that they were “extremely/very enthusiastic” compared to 73 percent of Republicans.

The CNN/SSRS poll has a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.

Not so long ago, a debate about whether or not to open up publicly funded health insurance benefits to illegal aliens would have sounded like the satire of past election cycles, but that’s just where things are right now in the 2020 Democratic primary.

At one of last week’s two Democratic debates, every single Democratic candidate raised their hands on stage in favor of giving health care to illegal aliens.

Out on the campaign trail, former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., have both spoken in favor of public health care benefits for illegal immigrants.

At an event in June, Democratic candidate and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said that he would “absolutely” include coverage for an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in his trademark “Medicare for All proposal.”

Meanwhile, the state of California has gone out ahead of the 2020 Democratic field and has begun offering state medical benefits to illegal alien adults. President Donald Trump criticized the move yesterday, telling reporters that California’s elected officials “don’t treat their people as well as they treat illegal immigrants.”

Estimates put the current cost of illegal immigration to the U.S. somewhere between $75 billion and $150 billion every year; however, those estimates don’t account for the record-breaking border numbers the U.S. has seen over the last few months or what will happen if the U.S. incentivizes even more illegal immigration with new health care entitlements. 9th Circuit Refuses Trump Request to Block Judge’s Ruling to Stop Military Funds for Border Wall

An appeals court denied the Trump administration’s emergency request to block a federal judge’s ruling that prevents President Trump from using $2.5 billion in military funds to build a wall along the southern border.

In a 2-1 ruling, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit said in an opinion that “a stay of the district court’s order granting Plaintiffs an injunction is not warranted.”

The Justice Department appealed after U.S. District Court Judge Haywood Gilliam, who is an appointee of former President Barack Obama, ruled to permanently block the $2.5 billion after issuing a temporary injunction in May to stop the administration’s use of the funds. The ruling stymied several construction projects in California, Arizona, and New Mexico.

Gilliam ruled in two lawsuits on Friday. The first, brought by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of the Sierra Club and the Southern Border Communities Coalition, came in response to Trump’s national emergency declaration transferring $6.7 billion in military funds to border wall construction. Gilliam’s decision halted the use of funds meant for Defense Department counter-drug activities.

In May, upon issuing the temporary injunction on border wall funding, Gilliam noted that the partial government shutdown earlier in the year represented an improper balance of power between lawmakers and the president. He stated, “The position that when Congress declines the Executive’s request to appropriate funds, the Executive nonetheless may simply find a way to spend those funds ‘without Congress’ does not square with fundamental separation of powers principles dating back to the earliest days of our Republic.” (Read more from “9th Circuit Refuses Trump Request to Block Judge’s Ruling to Stop Military Funds for Border Wall” HERE)

‘The U.S. Has No Obligation’: Biden Fought to Keep Refugees Out

Joe Biden, the 2020 Democratic presidential front-runner and advocate of large-scale immigration, once tried to block the evacuation of tens of thousands of South Vietnamese refugees who had helped the United States during the Vietnam War.

As a senator, the future vice president, now 76, was adamant that the U.S. had “no obligation, moral or otherwise, to evacuate foreign nationals,” dismissing concerns for their safety as the North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong swept south toward Saigon in 1975.

His position was in stark contrast to the one he took nearly 30 years later over Iraqi and Afghan interpreters who had worked with U.S. forces. “We owe these people,” his then top foreign policy adviser Tony Blinken said in 2012. “We have a debt to these people. They put their lives on the line for the United States.” . . .

As South Vietnam collapsed at the end of the Vietnam War in the spring of 1975, President Gerald Ford and the U.S. government undertook to evacuate thousands of South Vietnamese families who had assisted the U.S. throughout the war. The leading voice in the Senate opposing this rescue effort was then-Sen. Joe Biden.

Booker ‘Personally Accompanied’ Asylum Seekers Across the Border

By Washington Examiner. Presidential hopeful Cory Booker was in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, on Wednesday and traveled with asylum seekers as they crossed the U.S. southern border.

The New Jersey senator’s trip to Mexico comes as the situation at the border has gained notoriety for the conditions at migrant detention centers. . .

Booker helped five women make it to a U.S. shelter and not a detention center, according to Andrew Kimmel. Those women were originally sent back to Mexico under the Migrant Protection Protocols, and Booker told reporters Wednesday that his office intends on keeping in touch with them. . .

“I disagree with this idea that our asylum system is too broad,” Booker told reporters Wednesday, adding that President Trump has created “a human rights crisis and an American values crisis” with his execution of immigration policies and executive actions.

On Tuesday, Booker unveiled his immigration plan, which seeks in part to “virtually eliminate” immigration detention centers. It would also undo the Trump administration’s removal of protection for Dreamers, undo the “Muslim ban,” and limit the amount of time a migrant could be detained. Surprise, Surprise: Beto Thinks the American Flag Is Hurtful

Two Democratic hopefuls have expressed their support for Nike after the sportswear company pulled sneakers featuring the Betsy Ross-designed American flag ahead of the Fourth of July holiday. The company did so after former NFL quarterback and Nike endorser Colin Kaepernick raised concerns about the shoes.

Former HUD Secretary Julián Castro told CBS News on Wednesday that he was “glad to see” Nike remove the shoes from the shelves, comparing the “painful” symbol to the Confederate flag.

Former Texas congressman Beto O’Rourke also approved of Nike’s decision, noting that “white nationalist groups” have “appropriated” the Betsy Ross flag.

Here’s What Happened to the Vegas Police Officer Who ‘Froze’ During 2017 Massacre

An armed, veteran police officer who stood idle for several minutes as the Las Vegas gunman slaughtered dozens of concertgoers in 2017 was fired by the department months ago, officials revealed Tuesday.

Cordell Hendrex was fired March 20 from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, spokesman Larry Hadfield told the Associated Press.

While officials did not reveal additional details on what led to Hendrex’s termination, police union president Steve Grammas said the officer was fired because of his actions during the Oct. 1, 2017 mass shooting. . .

In video footage released by police, Hendrex could be seen leading a police trainee and three Mandalay Bay security guards to the sounds of gunfire coming from the hotel’s 32nd floor, where Paddock set up his sniper post, but not confronting the shooter. In body cam videos, Hendrex is seen directing the group, with their handguns drawn, on the 31st floor. . .

The actions of Hendrex — which drew comparisons to those of Scot Peterson, a former school resource officer who failed to act during the 2018 Parkland high school shooting — came into the spotlight following records releases. Islamic Teacher Who Sent Porn to Student Gets 10 Years

An Islamic teacher who taught at a mosque in Washington, DC, has been sentenced to ten years in prison for sending pornographic videos and committing a sex act with a 15-year-old over FaceTime.

The federal judge, in accordance with mandatory minimum sentencing laws in Virginia, sentenced Seitu Sulayman Kokayi, 30, to ten years in prison for exposing himself and persuading the 15-year-old girl to meet him for sex in a hotel room, the Washington Post reported last Friday. . .

Prosecutors say Kokayi also showed interest in supporting Islamic State extremism. . .

Attorneys for Kokayi argued that his interest in extremism and relationship with the girl were overblown, saying that he never exposed himself to the girl. The attorneys also argued that he shared propaganda to promote a discussion and had no intention of joining the Islamic State.

Prosecutors pushed for a 25-year sentence, given that Kokayi tried to sway girls as young as 16 years towards extremism and send them sexually explicit content.
