Airline Mechanic Charged with Sabotaging Plane That Had 150 People on Board

On Thursday, an American Airlines mechanic was arrested on a charge of sabotage after it was discovered he had allegedly purposely disabled a navigation system on a flight with 150 people in July.

The Miami Herald reports that Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani, 60, is accused of manipulating the air data module on a plane due to take off from Miami International Airport. The complaint affidavit stated:

Just prior to taking the departure runway, the flight crew increased power to the engines to pre-position the Target Aircraft for takeoff. The action of powering up the Target Aircraft’s engine resulted in an error related to the air data module (ADM) system which, in part, records aircraft speed, pitch, and other critical flight data. The takeoff was ordered aborted and the Target Aircraft was directed to return to MIA’s concourse D, gate 48, for maintenance.

The affidavit continued, “An AA mechanic discovered a loosely connected pitot tube, which connects directly to the ADM. Further inspection revealed the ADM appeared to have been deliberately obstructed with what appeared to be a dark Styrofoam-type material.” . . .

The affidavit also states that Alani claimed his actions were triggered by the dispute between the mechanics’ union and American Airlines, which “had affected him financially.” The affidavit noted Alani claimed he wanted to cause a delay or cancellation so he could gain overtime work. Unemployment Hits All-Time Low for Blacks

The number of people employed in the United States hit a record 157,878,000 in August, the 21st record set under President Donald Trump, according to the employment report released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. . .

The unemployment rate held steady at 3.7 percent. For blacks, the unemployment rate dropped to a record low of 5.5 percent last month. And for Hispanics, the unemployment rate was 4.2 percent in August, which ties the record low set earlier this year.

In August, the civilian noninstitutional population in the United States was 259,432,000. That included all people 16 and older who did not live in an institution (such as a prison, nursing home or long-term care hospital). Of that civilian noninstutional population, 163,922,000 were in the labor force, meaning that they either had a job or were actively seeking one during the last month.

That boosted the labor force participation rate to 63.2 percent, which matches the Trump-era high set this past January and February. That’s a 0.2 percent gain from the 63.0 percent in July. . .

Among the major worker groups, BLS said, the unemployment rates for adult men (3.4 percent), adult women (3.3 percent), teenagers (12.6 percent), Whites (3.4 percent), Blacks (5.5 percent), Asians (2.8 percent), and Hispanics (4.2 percent) showed little or no change in August, although — as noted above — it’s never been better for blacks and Hispanics. Over the Labor Day weekend, Seth Aaron Ator shot and killed seven people. He wounded more than 20 others in his senseless rampage. Police killed him during his attack. Ator was a man marked with mental illness. As they searched his home, police noted that this man was on a downward spiral, which apparently culminated when he was fired from his job the day he committed his heinous crime. As the anti-gun Left mobilized again, many questions remained.

How did Ator get a rifle? He failed a previous background check via mental health adjudication. Well, it seems Ator obtained his firearms from someone who might have been illegally manufacturing and selling guns without a license. Firearms reporter Stephen Gutowski of the Washington Free Beacon had a good thread about this development, notably that it’s legal for a law-abiding citizen to build his own firearms for personal use/protection, but not with the intention of selling it to others. He went into some of the ATF statutes concerning what “in the business” means to the government concerning firearms sales, but added that regardless of the gray area—what this individual did as reported by the Journal concerning his transfer to Ator was “blatantly illegal” . . .

Pete Buttigieg Attacks Pro-Life Christians

By Breitbart. Mayor Pete Buttigieg defended his belief that Christians should have a right to abortion, pointing to Scripture stating life begins when a baby breathes.

“You know, there’s a lot of parts of the Bible that talk about how life begins with breath,” he said when discussing abortion. “So even that is something we can interpret differently.”

Pro-life Christians frequently cite Jeremiah 1:5 to say that life begins in the womb: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Christians on the left argue that life begins at first breath, citing the account of God creating Adam in the book of Genesis: “Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”

Radio Host Tells Buttigieg He ‘Got Lost’ During Debates

By Fox News. Pete Buttigieg had an awkward moment on “The Breakfast Club” Friday when radio host Charlamagne tha God gave him a frank assessment of his performance in the Democratic primary debates.

“Do you think you sucked in the first couple of debates?” the host asked, prompting Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Ind., to say he thought he did well.

When Buttigieg asked what he thought, Charlamagne said the veteran didn’t show the same kind of charisma that he’d demonstrated before.

“You kind of got lost, Mayor Pete — like, I like you because your charismatic, I didn’t really get that from the first couple of debates,” he said.

Report: Gun Control Spells Political Loss for President Trump; Ted Cruz and Actress to Debate Gun Control After Twitter Fight

ABC News reports that the “data is comprised of campaign polling conducted before recent back-to-back mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas, that left 31 dead.”

The data suggests support for stricter background checks among a majority of Americans, but “gun control measures would be unpopular with Trump’s base.” . .

Ted Cruz to Debate Gun Control with Actress Alyssa Milano

By National Review. Following a lengthy Twitter confrontation over how best to respond to the scourge of mass shootings, Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas) and actress Alyssa Milano have agreed to meet in person to debate the issue.

Milano on Sunday challenged her Twitter followers to produce a Biblical passage that would support a God-given right to gun ownership. Cruz responded with a ten-tweet thread detailing how the right to self-defense, if not gun ownership specifically, is in fact enshrined in the Bible.

Federal Judge Sets Parameters for Unsealing Explosive Epstein Documents; At Least a Thousand People are Named in the Pedophile’s Docs

By Law and Crime. The judge overseeing a federal case related to deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein has issued a brief ruling determining the parameters for the eventual unsealing of remaining files.

U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska issued the following order on Thursday:

For the avoidance of doubt, counsel shall agree on the categories of documents (judicial documents, non-judicial documents, and something in between) within two weeks of September 4, 2019. No later than one week thereafter, the proponent of sealing shall submit papers no longer than 5 double-spaced pages, 12-point type, including footnotes, arguing for sealing; no later than one week thereafter, any opponents of sealing (including non-parties) may submit papers no longer than 5 double-spaced pages, 12-point type, including footnotes; and no later than one week thereafter, the proponent of sealing may reply in a letter no longer than 3 double-space pages, 12-point type, including footnotes.

Stylized as Virginia Giuffre v Ghislaine Maxwell, the case itself was brought in 2015 by one of Epstein’s victims, Giuffre, against the woman, Maxwell, who allegedly acted as “Epstein’s procurer of underage girls.”

Attorneys for Maxwell fought the defamation lawsuit for years before ultimately settling the case. But the fight to release the records became a crucial matter of public interest after a federal court ordered the release of a massive cache of documents in the wake of Epstein’s arrest on sex trafficking charges by New York authorities in July. Over a Thousand People are Named in Epstein-Related Documents: Lawyer

By The Daily Beast. “Hundreds of people” could be named in sealed documents in a lawsuit by one of Jeffrey Epstein’s accusers against the disgraced financier’s alleged madam, Ghislaine Maxwell, lawyers said in court Wednesday.

Maxwell’s lawyer, Jeffrey Paglica, revealed to U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska that “hundreds of other people” might be implicated if the new documents were unsealed without proper vetting. The filings pertaining to the 2015 federal defamation case between Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre and the British socialite.

In the suit, Giuffre accused Maxwell of procuring young girls for sexual abuse by Epstein and his powerful friends and says Maxwell recruited her when she was 16 years old and working at Mar-a-Lago. (The two sides settled in 2017 and Maxwell denied all allegations.)

Only 29% Believe Government’s “Suicide” Explanation for Epstein’s Death

Only 29 percent of Americans believe Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide in jail, according to a recent Rasmussen Reports poll.

A whopping 42% think Epstein was murdered to prevent him from testifying against the powerful elites he assoicated with.

A significant 29% are undecided, according to Zero Hedge.

Information Liberation reports: 67% of respondents said they have closely followed news reports about Epstein, while 25% have followed the news very closely.

Among Americans who have been following the story very closely, 56% believe Epstein was murdered. Men are also more likely than women to think that Epstein was murdered. (Read more from this story HERE)

Alleged ISIS Sniper Indicted, Came to U.S. on ‘Visa Lottery’

An alleged sniper for the Islamic State (ISIS) has been indicted, the Department of Justice announced on Thursday, years after he was able to obtain American citizenship by arriving in the United States on the “Diversity Visa Lottery.”

Ruslan Maratovich Asainov, 43-years-old, was indicted in federal court on five counts of conspiracy to provide material support to ISIS; providing personnel, training, expert advice, assistance, and weapons to ISIS and ISIS fighters; as well as receiving military training from ISIS fighters.

Asainov, according to federal prosecutors, traveled to Istanbul, Turkey in December 2013 with the intention of going on to Syria to fight for ISIS. After arriving in Syria, Asainov is accused of joining ISIS by becoming a sniper for the terrorist organization.

While sniping for ISIS, Asainov moved up the ranks within the terrorist organization and was put in charge of training newcomer ISIS fighters. Asainov is also accused of trying to recruit other terrorist sympathizers living in the U.S. to travel to Syria to fight for ISIS.

Asainov’s traveling to Syria to allegedly snipe for ISIS came 14 years after he was first allowed to legally immigrate to the U.S. through the Diversity Visa Lottery program — which randomly gives out about 55,000 visas every year to foreign nationals from a multitude of countries, including those with known terrorist problems such as Afghanistan, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, and Uzbekistan. Document Reveals the FBI Is Tracking Border Protest Groups as Extremist Organizations

The FBI is monitoring groups on the border that are protesting U.S. immigration policy, according to a document obtained by Yahoo News.

The FBI has gathered intelligence from people with “direct access” to the organizations and is monitoring their social media, according to the document, called an “external intelligence note,” that was obtained by Yahoo News. The note, which was produced by the FBI office in Phoenix and sent to other law enforcement and government agencies, said there are indications these groups are “increasingly arming themselves and using lethal force to further their goals.” However, almost all of the evidence cited in the report involved nonviolent protest activity.

The intelligence collected and cited in the FBI document, dated May 30, 2019, is worrisome to activists and civil rights advocates who say that the government is classifying legitimate government opposition and legally protected speech as violent extremism or domestic terrorism. . .

In a statement to Yahoo News, an FBI spokesperson described the external intelligence note about border protest groups as part of routine information sharing among law enforcement agencies, and emphasized that it contained the perspective of the Phoenix office.

“These products are intended to be informative in nature,” the FBI spokesperson said, “and as such, they contain appropriate caveats to describe the confidence in the sourcing of information and the likelihood of the assessment. 2,000 Human Bones Discovered at Luxury Apartment Dumping Ground in Mexico

Members of the State Brigade for the Search of Disappeared Persons were searching the landfill near a private residential complex in Culiacán, Sinaloa, on August 24 when they came across bags of bones and body fragments on the ground, some from hands and some from feet.

The foot and hand fragments belonged to more than 150 people – according to forensic experts, coming from both adults and children. . .

El Universal reported that several damaged bags – due to sun, water and animals ripping and rummaging through them – were placed in an area not accessible by car.

Over the last two decades, 57,861 people have disappeared in Mexico – family members of the missing formed the brigade in 2016 to be more organised in their search. . .

Sanders Under Fire for Remarks on Population Control

By The Hill. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has came under fire from conservatives on social media Thursday after he said he would be open to discussing population control as a means to combat climate change.

The presidential candidate made the comments on Wednesday at a climate town hall on CNN after he was asked by an attendee about rising populations and how the planet “can not sustain this growth.” . . .

The comments quickly sparked outrage from conservative media figures, including CNN host S.E. Cupp, who said Sanders was talking about eugenics when he made the comments.
