Christian Businesswoman and Mother Sentenced to 15 Years in Kuwait Prison

A Kuwaiti court sentenced a Russian national and mother of a 5-year-old U.S. citizen to 15 years in prison Monday, her attorneys told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

This is the second time Marsha Lazareva has been sentenced since the Kuwait government arrested her in 2017 while doing business in the country under charges of embezzlement. The country sentenced her to 10 years of prison and hard labor in May 2018, though her attorneys told the DCNF she did nothing wrong.

A Kuwaiti appeals court recognized Lazareva, who held U.S. green-card status before her 2017 arrest, was unlawfully convicted on May 5. The country released her in June after she spent about 472 days in prison. Her legal team posted millions of dollars in bail and a judge overturned her conviction, according to her lawyers.

But Kuwaiti officials again convicted Lazareva on two more charges in a different case Monday despite a “complete absence of evidence,” her attorneys told the DCNF, though they could not disclose more details about the charges.

“In Defense of Christians is very disappointed by the conviction Monday of Marsha Lazareva, the Orthodox Christian woman being wrongfully held in Kuwait, and its impact on her five-year-old son who is with her,” Peter Burns, policy director of the nonprofit human rights organization In Defense of Christians, said in a statement to the DCNF. San Francisco’s New DA: Public Urination ‘Will Not Be Prosecuted’

. . .Chesa Boudin, the urine-and-feces-plagued city’s incoming district attorney, pledged during the campaign not to prosecute public urination and other quality-of-life crimes if he was elected. Boudin declared victory Saturday night after results showed him winning a plurality of votes in the DA race.

“We will not prosecute cases involving quality-of-life crimes. Crimes such as public camping, offering or soliciting sex, public urination, blocking a sidewalk, etc., should not and will not be prosecuted,” Boudin vowed in response to an American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) questionnaire during the campaign. . .

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders cheered Boudin’s victory in the election. “Now is the moment to fundamentally transform our racist and broken criminal justice system by ending mass incarceration, the failed war on drugs and the criminalization of poverty,” the Vermont Sen. wrote on Twitter Saturday, congratulating Boudin on his “historic victory!”

Report: Google Secretly Collecting Data on Millions of Americans

Tech giant Google is reportedly engaged in collecting the personal health information of tens of millions of Americans across 21 states — a project dubbed “Project Nightingale” — and has not notified patients or doctors about what they are doing.

“Google began Project Nightingale in secret last year with St. Louis-based Ascension, a Catholic chain of 2,600 hospitals, doctors’ offices and other facilities, with the data sharing accelerating since summer,” according to internal documents obtained exclusively by The Wall Street Journal. “The data involved in the initiative encompasses lab results, doctor diagnoses and hospitalization records, among other categories, and amounts to a complete health history, including patient names and dates of birth.”

“Neither patients nor doctors have been notified,” the Journal added. “At least 150 Google employees already have access to much of the data on tens of millions of patients, according to a person familiar with the matter and the documents.”

Google teamed up with Ascension, a Catholic chain of 2,600 hospitals spread out over 21 states and in the District of Columbia, and other doctors offices launch the project last year.

Forbes reports that the project “involves Ascension moving patient records onto Google’s cloud servers and includes a search product that allows Ascension healthcare providers to see an ‘overview page’ about their patients. . . .Over at Target, the world-famous Gingerbread Man has been given a makeover in the newly featured “Gender Inclusive Gingerbread” Christmas sweater, available now for the price of $29.99. Behold:

As the image shows, the new “Gender Inclusive Gingerbread” (fill in the blank) has no unique features distinguishing itself from the average Gingerbread Man, and yet, the Target online store literally bills it as the “Gender Inclusive Gingerbread Long Sleeve Sweater” with absolutely no accompanying description as to what classifies it as “gender-inclusive.” It’s as if the very utterance of Gingerbread Man (or even Gingerbread Woman) is in itself offensive. So what do we get? A sweatshirt with a character that looks exactly like the Gingerbread Man but is instead described as gender-inclusive.

Target is also not the only establishment catching wind of this new trend. Lawyer: Giuliani Associate Told Ukrainians to Investigate Bidens

An attorney for Lev Parnas, an associate of Rudy Giuliani, is claiming his client traveled to Kiev shortly before the inauguration of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this year to demand the new administration publicly announce an investigation into 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son.

Parnas’ lawyer confirmed to Fox News that his client told Ukrainian officials that Vice President Mike Pence would not attend the swearing-in of the new president and the United States would freeze aid to the Eastern European nation if the demands were not met.

The claim by Parnas, who has been preparing to testify in the House Intelligence Committee’s impeachment inquiry into President Trump, directly challenged the accounts by Trump and Ukrainian officials that have been at the heart of the congressional probe. Parnas’ claim also directly tied Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney, to threats of retribution if Ukrainian officials did not comply with the demands – something Giuliani steadfastly has denied.

Parnas’ story, however, has been contradicted by a number of people, including his business partner Igor Fruman, who also was present at a meeting with the Ukrainians and claimed neither the issue of foreign aid nor the vice president’s attendance at the inauguration was raised. Joe Biden Freaks Out After GOP Calls for Hunter to Testify

Former Vice President Joe Biden declared Monday there was “zero rationale” for Republican lawmakers to have his son Hunter testify before Congress as part of the ongoing impeachment inquiry.

Hunter Biden’s financial involvement in the Ukraine gas company Burisma — while his father was in office — has been under intense scrutiny in recent weeks since the House of Representatives formally launched the impeachment inquiry into President Trump over his conversation with the Ukrainian president about investigating the Bidens. With public impeachment hearings scheduled for this week, Republicans recently included Hunter Biden on a list of witnesses they wanted to hear under oath. . .

“Every single, solitary, serious investigator… looked at this and said there’s absolutely zero basis to the accusation that I acted inappropriately or that my son did,” Biden told the Iowa audience. “This is all about Trump trying to create a diversion… There’s not a scintilla of evidence pointing out that anything is wrong.” . . .

“There is zero rationale for that to happen,” Biden told CNN anchor Erin Burnett. “Nobody has suggested that anything was done that was inappropriate. This is all a diversion. This is classic Trump, classic Trump. Focus on the problems. Restaurant Owner Arrested for Keeping Mentally Handicapped ‘Slave’

The Department of Justice announced yet another criminal being sent to jail due to human trafficking and enslaving of another individual, this time in South Carolina. Bobby Paul Edward, 53, was sentenced last week to a decade in prison after being found guilty of forcing a mentally handicapped black man to work grueling hours for free under emotional and physical abuse.

“It is almost inconceivable that instances of forced labor endure in this country to this day – a century and a half after the Emancipation Proclamation,” Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband of the Civil Rights Division said in a press release. “The Department of Justice will continue to investigate, prosecute, and convict human traffickers involved in forced labor, seeking justice on behalf of their victims.”

“According to the defendant’s plea colloquy and admissions in court, between 2009 and 2014, the defendant used violence and other coercive means to compel the victim to work for more than 100 hours a week for no pay at a restaurant managed by the defendant in Conway, South Carolina,” a DOJ press release reads.

Edward used pots, pans, burning metal tongs, and more objects to beat and abuse the victim. He also hurled racial slurs and degrading language to psychologically enslave the victim and compel him to work for the establishment. Mark Meadows Tells Eric Swalwell to ‘Shut up’ During Vindman Testimony

Republican North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows had a tense exchange Friday with Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell during National Security Council member Alexander Vindman’s testimony in House Democrats’ impeachment probe.

The exchange came as Vindman’s lawyer suspected that Republicans were trying to out the whistleblower, according to Politico national security reporter Natasha Bertrand.

“Hey Mr. Meadows, he’s the chairman. He finishes,” Swalwell told Meadows, referencing House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff. . .

“He’s the chairman,” Swalwell said. “He finishes.”

“Shut up,” Meadows concluded.

President Trump: We No Longer Have Freedom of Press

President Trump again slammed the media on Sunday, declaring that “we no longer have Freedom of the Press!”

He made the comment in a Sunday morning tweet where he also said: “Journalistic standards are nonexistent today.”

Trump’s post was in response to a tweet blasting ABC News for not airing a report about Jeffrey Epstein while publicizing accusations of misconduct against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation process.

Pope Francis Leads Holy Mass in Rome a Day After Italian Friend Accused Him of ‘Denying the Physical Resurrection of Christ’

Pope Francis led prayers at Holy Mass in Rome today after an Italian journalist claimed the Pope told him he does not believe Jesus Christ was resurrected as a body, but in the ‘semblance of a spirit’.

Eugenio Scalfari, 95, a frequent papal interviewer, said his long-term friend Pope Francis does not believe a key Catholic doctrine that Jesus returned in the flesh after his crucifixion.

Though the claims were disputed by the Vatican and believers, they were not flat-out denied by the Holy See – leading some to criticise it for what has been deemed as an ineffectual response on a heretical matter. . .

According to Scalfari, Pope Francis said, ‘He [Jesus] was a man until he was put in the sepulchre by the women who restored his corpse.
