Elon Musk ‘Pedo Guy’ Defamation Trial Begins

The Defamation lawsuit against Tesla CEO Elon Musk begins today in Los Angeles. The case is based on Musk’s social media posts calling British cave rescuer Vern Unsworth, who was instrumental in the rescue of a trapped Thai youth soccer team, a ‘Pedo Guy.’

Yahoo News reports that Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder Elon Musk is set to go to trial on Tuesday after he accused British cave rescuer Vernon Unsworth of being a pedophile. Unsworth played a major role in the rescue of 12 boys and their soccer coach from Tham Luang Nang Non cave in Thailand in July 2018, during the incident Unsworth criticized Musk’s plan to use a miniature submarine to save the boys labeling it a publicity stunt. In response, Musk called him a “pedo guy” on Twitter.

Now, Unsworth claims that Musk should pay punitive and other damages for harming his reputation. The trial will be before U.S. District Judge Stephen Wilson in Los Angeles and is scheduled to take place over five days. Musk is expected to testify in his own defense.

Musk boasts 29.8 million Twitter followers and his account has become a major source of publicity for his companies including Tesla, which prides itself on not spending money excessively on marketing campaigns. Now Musk’s Twitter habits have once again landed him in hot water, after a tweet in 2018 about taking Tesla private cost him and the company millions in SEC fines. . .

In the defamation case, Unsworth must prove that Musk did not use reasonable care to determine if the claims made in his tweets were true and that members of the public understood them to mean that he was accusing Unsworth of being a pedophile. It was ruled last month that Unsworth’s sudden fame due to the rescue did not make him a “public figure” which meant that he did not need to demonstrate the higher standard of proof that Musk acted with “actual malice” when posting the tweets. Adam Schiff Has Submitted His Recommendation on Whether to Impeach President Trump

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has released a report summarizing two weeks of impeachment inquiry hearings and months of investigation into President Trump’s July phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“This report reflects the evidence gathered thus far by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, in coordination with the Committee on Oversight and Reform and the Committee on Foreign Affairs, as part of the House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry into Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States,” Schiff released in a statement attached to the report.

“The decision to move forward with an impeachment inquiry is not one we took lightly. Under the best of circumstances, impeachment is a wrenching process for the nation. I resisted calls to undertake an impeachment investigation for many months on that basis, notwithstanding the existence of presidential misconduct that I believed to be deeply unethical and damaging to our democracy. The alarming events and actions detailed in this report, however, left us with no choice but to proceed,” he said.

Schiff calls the report “evidence,” but hours of testimony about “presumed,” “I heard,” “I felt,” etc. don’t hold up to that claim. The report is essentially 72 hours of testimony repackaged by Schiff and his staff to justify impeachment.

“As this report details, the impeachment inquiry has found that President Trump, personally and acting through agents within and outside of the U.S. government, solicited the interference of a foreign government, Ukraine, to benefit his reelection. In furtherance of this scheme, President Trump conditioned official acts on a public announcement by the new Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, of politically-motivated investigations, including one into President Trump’s domestic political opponent,” Schiff continued. “In pressuring President Zelensky to carry out his demand, President Trump withheld a White House meeting desperately sought by the Ukrainian President, and critical U.S. military assistance to fight Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine.” (Read more from “Adam Schiff Has Submitted His Recommendation on Whether to Impeach President Trump” HERE)

Biden Accuses Buttigieg of Stealing His Healthcare Plan

Joe Biden accused South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg of copying his healthcare proposal.

Biden leveled the accusation while speaking to reporters on his campaign bus in Iowa on Monday evening, according to Reuters. Biden has pushed for a revamped version of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, the landmark healthcare legislation backed by former President Barack Obama.

Biden has said he would add a “public option” to the plan that would allow people to opt into the government healthcare system, but only if they wanted to. Otherwise, Americans would keep their private insurance plans.

Buttigieg’s healthcare proposal would allow for private and government insurance plans. He has billed the proposal as “Medicare for all who want it.”

“He stole it,” Biden said while accusing the media of holding a double standard. “What would you have done to me? You’d have torn my ears off.” (Read more from “Biden Accuses Buttigieg of Stealing His Healthcare Plan” HERE)

Trump Says He May Need Pompeo to Run for Senate to Retain Kansas Seat

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been coy when asked, as he frequently is, whether he might be considering running for Senate in his home state of Kansas, but President Trump said Tuesday that he might need Pompeo to give up his current job to make sure the seat stays in Republican hands.

The Kansas Senate seat is up for grabs in 2020 because Republican Sen. Pat Roberts is not seeking a fifth term, and some GOP leaders are worried Kris Kobach, the former Kansas secretary of state whose hard-line positions have alienated some in the party, may not be a strong enough candidate to defeat the Democrats.

Kobach lost last year’s governor’s race to Democrat Laura Kelly, and Republicans fear his nomination could give the Democrats their best chance to win their first Kansas Senate seat since 1932.

Speaking to reporters at the NATO summit in London, Trump said if it looks as though the seat might flip, he would have a heart-to-heart with Pompeo about running.

“He’s a tremendous guy doing a tremendous job,” Trump said. “You can never find anybody that can do a better job as secretary of state, but if we thought we were going to lose that, I would have a talk with Mike.” (Read more from “Trump Says He May Need Pompeo to Run for Senate to Retain Kansas Seat” HERE)

GOP Rep. Hits CNN with Massive Lawsuit over ‘Demonstrably False’ Ukraine Report

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) slapped CNN with a massive lawsuit seeking nearly half a billion dollars on Tuesday over a report last month that he says was “demonstrably false” which claimed that an indicted associate of Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani was willing to testify that Nunes met with a Ukrainian prosecutor last year in Vienna to dig up dirt on former Vice President and current Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.

Fox News reported that the 47-page lawsuit, filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, seeks “at least $435,350,000 in compensatory and punitive damages.”

“CNN is the mother of fake news. It is the least trusted name. CNN is eroding the fabric of America, proselytizing, sowing distrust and disharmony. It must be held accountable,” the lawsuit, obtained by Fox News, states. “The ulterior purpose of the CNN Article is to advance the impeachment inquiry, to seed doubt in the minds of Americans, and to influence the outcome of the 2020 election.”

The lawsuit came in response to a CNN report last month that stated: “The attorney, Joseph A. Bondy, represents Lev Parnas, the recently indicted Soviet-born American who worked with Giuliani to push claims of Democratic corruption in Ukraine. Bondy said that Parnas was told directly by the former Ukrainian official that he met last year in Vienna with Rep. Devin Nunes.”

“Mr. Parnas learned from former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Victor Shokin that Nunes had met with Shokin in Vienna last December,” Bondy told CNN. “Nunes had told Shokin of the urgent need to launch investigations into Burisma, Joe and Hunter Biden, and any purported Ukrainian interference in the 2016 election.” (Read more from “GOP Rep. WATCH: Child Asks 2020 Dem If She’ll End Global Warming. Her Answer Is Both Arrogant and a Child’s Worst Nightmare.

On Monday night, speaking at a rally at the University of Iowa, Senator Elizabeth Warren was asked by a child during the Q&A if she would end global warming if she were elected president. Without a shred of humility, Warren answered, “Yes.”

Warren’s arrogance could easily remind someone of another candidate who once promised that his presidency would change the climate of the planet Earth:

Warren continued by feeding the child’s worst nightmare: “You know, Eleanor, that is a big commitment because we’re in real trouble. You know this, right? That climate change threatens every living thing on this planet. And for me, the scariest thing that happens now is that every time scientists go back and recalculate the data, put in more information, it’s worse than we thought. The problem’s bigger; it’s moving faster and we have less time to respond.”

Swalwell Changes Tune on Impeachment

California Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell on Tuesday said he has not made a decision yet about whether President Donald Trump should be impeached, after previously calling for his impeachment.

Swalwell’s comments come after House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff declined to say whether or not he supports impeaching Trump and his removal from office by the Senate. In November, Swalwell said on Twitter “I am one of them. I called for impeachment the day @realDonaldTrump told @GStephanopoulos he would again take help from a foreign government to win an election. That was June. Little did any of us know he was already trying to do that with Ukraine.”

Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee released their report on Tuesday regarding the impeachment inquiry into President Trump.

The 123-page report, which was written by Republican staffers of the House Intelligence, Oversight, and Foreign Affairs panels, says that the evidence provided by Democrats is not enough to impeach the president and called the Democrats’ continued efforts to impeach Trump “an orchestrated campaign to upend our political system,” Roll Call reported.

The White House told House Democrats on Sunday that they will not take part in the House Judiciary Committee’s first impeachment hearing, after being invited by House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler. (Read more from “Swalwell Changes Tune on Impeachment” HERE)

Justice Department Asks Supreme Court to Allow Execution of Four Child Murderers

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court Monday night to clear the way for four federal executions, after a judge in Washington, D.C., put them on hold.

The first of the executions is set for Dec. 9. The condemned inmate is Daniel Lewis Lee, who belonged to a white supremacist organization. A jury sentenced him to death for the 1999 murders of three people, among them an 8-year-old girl. Juries also convicted the other convicts — Alfred Bourgeois, Dustin Lee Honken and Wesley Ira Purkey — for the murders of children.

Attorney General William Barr revived the federal death penalty after a 17-year hiatus in July. The attorney general directed the Bureau of Prisons to use a single-drug pentobarbital lethal injection protocol for capital punishment, clearing the way for long-stalled executions to proceed.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan said that “uniform procedure” violates a provision of the Federal Death Penalty Act (FDPA). That provision says federal executions must be carried out “in the manner prescribed by the law of the state” in which the death sentence issued.

Though all the relevant states allow lethal injection, Chutkan said the word “manner” encompasses both the means used and the procedural particulars. The judge found there are technical differences between the Barr protocol and relevant state practices, such as how the catheter should be inserted. Trump Admin Proposes Using Facial Recognition on All Airport Travelers – Including Americans

The Department of Homeland Security is proposing a rule that would allow the government to use facial recognition data to identify everyone traveling to and from the country, including U.S. citizens.

Non-citizens traveling through U.S. airports have been required to get their fingerprints scanned and have their picture taken since the mid-noughties. American citizens have enjoyed the choice of opting out of this requirement. However, in a recent regulatory filing, DHS is pushing to require all international travelers — including U.S. citizens — have their photograph taken. . .

“To facilitate the implementation of a seamless biometric entry-exit system that uses facial recognition and to help prevent persons attempting to fraudulently use U.S. travel documents and identify criminals and known or suspected terrorists, DHS is proposing to amend the regulations to provide that all travelers, including U.S. citizens, may be required to be photographed upon entry and/or departure,” the filing continues.

Facial recognition technology, which has become increasingly popular at airports across the country, matches an image taken of a traveler to a still image of them stored in a database.

Not only is the tech able to catch criminals and prevent fraudulent activity, it also can dramatically speed up processing times for travelers. The verification process can take less than two seconds and touts a 99% match rate, according to Customs and Border Protection. Watch: Christian University Speaker Tells Students to Hide Illegal Aliens in Churches

A guest speaker at Andrews University, a Seventh-day Adventist school in Michigan, urged students to harbor illegal aliens in their churches because U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement does not usually raid churches, Campus Reform reported.

“People are being hurt right now across this country,” James Standish, the event’s speaker, said. “Many of them are our brothers and they’re our sisters. And we stand by with our churches empty when they could be sanctuary sanctuaries.” . . .

Standish was speaking at a semi-required “University Forum” event that is part of the co-curricular requirements for students at the school. While the specific event was not mandatory, it was part of a series of events that count towards fulfilling the requirement. . .

During the speech, Standish claimed that a church entity asked him to research ICE policy after some of their members were deported, and in his research, he discovered that that “except in unusual circumstances, ICE will not raid a church.”

The policy he is referring to was a created in 2011 under the Obama administration — and still remains under the Trump administration — that classifies certain areas, such as schools and churches, as “sensitive locations.” In these locations, barring exigent circumstances, ICE will not conduct “arrests, interviews, searches, or surveillance.” (Read more from “Watch: Christian University Speaker Tells Students to Hide Illegal Aliens in Churches” HERE)
