Top Dem Operative Accused of Illegally Profiting From His Political Empire by Conservative Group

A conservative group has filed complaints with the IRS accusing leading liberal activist David Brock of illegally profiting from the vast network of groups he has built within the Democratic Party’s infrastructure.

The complaints, which were filed by the Patriots Foundation, a right-leaning nonprofit, and reviewed by The Daily Beast, detail a series of transactions that, the group says, show the injection of money from a tax-exempt group Brock founded into a private, for-profit news business that he owns.

“These complaints we filed provide damning indictment of serious allegations about how his organizations have circumvented rules and exploited the tax-exempt status of the organizations for personal benefit and partisan political purposes, and potentially siphoning millions for improper purposes,” Patriots Foundation co-founder Craig Robinson told The Daily Beast in a statement.

The nonprofit at issue is the American Bridge 21st Century Foundation, and it’s part of a constellation of entities that Brock has seeded over the years and which he tasked in early 2017 to, in his words, “kick Donald Trump’s ass.” The foundation is the “dark money” affiliate of AB PAC, a super PAC that is pouring millions of dollars into an effort to defeat Trump in November. WATCH: Leftist Mayor Threatened to Close Churches, but Is Giving Muslims Half a Million Meals for Ramadan

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Thursday that the city will take steps to provide for its Muslim community amid the coronavirus by distributing “over half a million meals” during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The 500,000 Halal meals will be distributed at 32 Department of Education buildings and other community organizations during Ramadan, Bloomberg News reported. Ramadan began Thursday evening and will end the evening of May 23.

“One of Ramadan’s most noble callings is to feed the hungry,” de Blasio said Thursday during a press briefing. “To remember to be there for those in need. And that is now harder than ever now that people can’t go to their mosques.” . .

“We all wish that the celebrations of Easter and Passover could have been so different,” de Blasio said during the briefing.

However, many Christian and Jewish New Yorkers may find that statement unsettling, given the mayor’s harsh warning for the faithful from those religions at the start of the COVID-19 outbreak in the city.

Researchers: New UV Technology ‘Safe for Humans,’ Potentially Lethal for Coronavirus; Top Scientist Says Heat Slows Virus

By Breitbart. A Columbia University researcher this week said new ultraviolet technology he helped develop is a “game changer” that has shown promise for killing the novel coronavirus in indoor places without harming human skin.

The findings echo other studies that found UV technology could potentially sterilize the novel coronavirus on surfaces and the air. This week, the media and their Democrat allies lambasted U.S. President Donald Trump for suggesting that health officials could use UV light to treat coronavirus.

David Brenner, a professor of radiation biophysics and director of Columbia University’s Center for Radiological Research, helped develop technology that uses lamps to emit a wavelength of ultraviolet light known as far-UVC the could be lethal to the novel coronavirus. . .

“Far-UVC light has the potential to be a ‘game-changer,’” Brenner said, Columbia News reported on Tuesday. “It can be safely used in occupied public spaces, and it kills pathogens in the air before we can breathe them in.” (Read more from “Researchers: New UV Technology ‘Safe for Humans,’ Potentially Lethal for Coronavirus” HERE)

Top DHS Scientists Says Heat, Humidity Slow Coronavirus

By New York Post. A top scientist from the Department of Homeland Security said Thursday that preliminary research shows that the coronavirus dies out more quickly in hot, humid weather than in colder, drier conditions.

“Increasing the temperature and humidity … is generally less favorable to the virus,” said William Bryan, head of science and technology at DHS, said during the daily Coronavirus Task Force daily briefing at the White House.

Bryan said the preliminary study showed that the half life of the virus was lower at higher temperatures and humidity than in colder weather.

“If you look as the temperature increases, as the humidity increases, no sun involved, you can see how drastically the half-life goes down on the virus. So it’s dying in a much more rapid pace [with] just exposure to higher temperatures and to humidity,” Bryan continued. (Read more from “Top DHS Scientist Says Heat, Humidity Slow Coronavirus” HERE)

U.S. Considers Redirecting WHO Funds to Faith-Based, Independent Organizations

The United States is looking for alternate partners to carry out health programs previously supported through the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) in the wake of U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to freeze funding to the United Nations agency, American officials indicated this week.

Trump administration officials are conducting a 60-to-90 day review of the Beijing-influenced W.H.O.’s response to the novel coronavirus illness (COVID-19) ravaging the world.

Echoing other U.S. officials, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has repeatedly accused the W.H.O. of helping China hide the severity of the novel coronavirus illness during its early stages, a move that slowed the world’s response and allowed the disease to spiral out of control. . .

On Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who also briefed reporters, announced an additional $270 million in American taxpayer-funded aid for the international coronavirus response, bringing the total amount of U.S. assistance to $775 million spread over 100 countries worldwide.

“For more than half a century, the United States has been the largest contributor to global health security. We have built the foundations upon which the global health system is based,” Richardson noted. (Read more from “U.S. Considers Redirecting WHO Funds to Faith-Based, Independent Organizations” HERE)

Italy’s Daily Coronavirus Recoveries Surpass New Cases for the First Time Since the Outbreak Began

New cases of the novel coronavirus in Italy fell below the number of newly recovered patients for the first time since the outbreak began. Italy’s civil protection agency reported 3,033 recoveries on Thursday, nearly 400 more than the number of new patients.

Active cases (those currently being treated in hospital or recovering at home) also dropped over four successive days since April 20, when the measure fell for the first time. Hospitalized patients and those in intensive care have both been decreasing since early April, according to Italian authorities.

New cases also saw a significant decline on Thursday, dropping to 2,646, which was 724 less than Wednesday which recorded 3,370 new cases. The country also reported that more than a million people have been tested for the virus and 18 percent of them have tested positive. . .

“From May 4, the manufacturing, auto, fashion and design sectors—along with many others including construction—will reopen, but only if they guarantee social distancing and protection measures,” Italian Deputy Minister of Health Pierpaolo Sileri told Bloomberg. Sileri also tested positive for the virus last month but has since recovered. Christopher Steele Says Documents Regarding ‘Source’ for Dossier Gone

Christopher Steele told a British court last month that he no longer has documents and other information from his meetings with the main source for his Trump dossier, suggesting that the former British spy has no way of backing up his side in a dispute with the Justice Department’s inspector general (IG), according to a deposition transcript obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Steele also told the court that his communications regarding the dossier, including with Fusion GPS, were “wiped” in December 2016 and January 2017, the transcript shows.

The former MI6 officer made the disclosures during a March 17-18 deposition in a defamation case related to the dossier. The DCNF obtained a transcript of the deposition. . .

Steele’s statement was a response to an IG report released the day before that said that Steele’s source — dubbed the “Primary Sub-Source” — told the FBI in January 2017 that Steele misrepresented or embellished information in the dossier.

That bombshell severely undermined Steele’s report, which the FBI used as part of its investigation into the Trump campaign. (Read more from “Christopher Steele Says Documents Regarding ‘Source’ for Dossier Gone” HERE)

Are Struggling Americans Ready for Their Coronavirus Lockdown to End — or Terrified?; Alaska Begins to Open Back Up

By New York Post. America’s coronavirus lockdown is causing economic pain across the country like nothing this nation has seen since the Great Depression. . .

The Post has talked to a group of hard-hit people, here are their stories:

Rose English, 57, owner of a horse riding school and summer camp in Anchorage, Alaska

As U.S. Coronavirus Death Toll Tops 51,000, Handful of States Move Toward Reopening

By Reuters. With the U.S. coronavirus death toll topping 51,000 and nearly one in six workers out of a job, Georgia, Oklahoma and several other states took tentative steps at reopening businesses on Friday, despite disapproval from President Donald Trump and medical experts. . .

Georgia, one of several states in the Deep South that waited until early April to mandate restrictions imposed weeks before across much of the rest of the country to curb the outbreak, has become a flashpoint in the debate over how and when the nation should return to work. . .

While the COVID-19 illness is killing thousands of Americans daily, stay-at-home orders and business closures have thrown more than 26 million people out of work, a level of unemployment not seen since the Great Depression of the 1930s. . .

Oklahoma was permitting some retailers to resume business on Friday, Florida began reopening its beaches a week ago, South Carolina started easing restrictions on Monday, and other states will follow suit next week. These Are the States Opening Back up for Business

By New York Magazine. After a month with much of the country locked down, sheltered in place, and healthy at home, some states have begun lifting restrictions put in place to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Georgia has gotten the most attention, and for good reason. No governor has thrown open the doors to his state’s businesses as aggressively as Brian Kemp, whose decision to reopen the state first drew praise, and then criticism, from President Trump. . .

Alaska

Governor Mike Dunleavy announced phase one of the state’s reopening, which begins Friday, April 24. He is allowing restaurants to open for in-person dining and personal-services businesses (nail salons, barbers, etc.) to operate, though they are only allowed to take customers by reservation. Retail stores are also allowed to reopen with social distancing and masks worn by all employees and customers. (Read more from “These Are the States Opening Back up for Business” HERE)

Study: Nearly All NYC Coronavirus Patients Had Underlying Health Conditions; NYC Struggles With Growing Homeless Population Amid Crisis

By Disrn. Nearly all the patients hospitalized for the coronavirus in New York City had underlying health conditions, according to a new study.

Health records showed that 94% of the 5,700 patients in the Northwell Health system — which has had the most patients in the country during the pandemic — had at least one disease other than COVID-19, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association. 88% had more than one ailment on top of coronavirus. . .

Hypertension was the most common ailment, affecting 53% of coronavirus patients. Another 42% of patients who had a body mass index on file were obese and 32% of all patients had diabetes. (Read more from “Study: Nearly All NYC Coronavirus Patients Had Underlying Health Conditions” HERE)

NYC Struggles With Growing Homeless Population Amid Coronavirus Crisis

By Fox News. As the nation obeys orders to stay home amid the coronavirus crisis, it’s an impossible feat for the country’s homeless population. In New York City, more than 78,000 people, including children, are homeless.

“You have doctors and health professionals saying to stay home. You can’t do that. You can’t protect yourself,” said Giselle Routhier, the Coalition for the Homeless policy director. The New York City Department of Homeless Services is tracking more than 650 COVID-19 cases with 51 deaths so far.

To slow the spread, the city will move people into hotels starting with at-risk seniors and single adults to improve social distancing.

“We have had Bowery Mission Guests who have been in our setting, become ill, gone to the hospital and now gone into a hotel. Now we actually have direct access to the hotel rooms this week for the first time, which will help keep our space safe and healthy,” said James Winans, the Bowery Mission’s interim CEO.

The city is reportedly working to make 2,500 rooms available but organizations like #HomelessCantStayHome say it’s not enough. As many New Yorkers steer clear of the subway, the homeless are not. The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) says the city should handle the growing number of people living in the cars during the pandemic. China Could Soon Sink U.S. in South China Sea; U.S., Chinese Warships Enter South China Sea as Tensions Rise Over Oil Dispute

By Asia Time. . .The USS America, a new amphibious assault ship, is now patrolling in the South China Sea with another US cruiser, a US destroyer and an Australian destroyer.

They are operating near where a Chinese research vessel backed by Chinese Coast Guard ships is in a standoff with Malaysian ships. The Malaysians object to the Chinese being inside their Exclusive Economic Zone, which China claims as its own, along with most of the South China Sea.

Rear Admiral Fred Kacher, commander of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, stated: “To bring this much combat capability together here in the South China Sea truly signals to our allies and partners in the region that we are deeply committed to a free and open Indo-Pacific.”

One wonders how much backup they have? Perhaps a submarine or two nearby. But air support? The USS America has some F35s and helicopters, but it is no aircraft carrier. . .

The People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) simply has far more ships in the South China Sea and close by. Estimates for the region range from five to ten Chinese warships for each US Navy ship. And the oft-presumed superior American capability does not even things up. (Read more from “China Could Soon Sink U.S. in South China Sea” HERE)

U.S., Chinese warships enter South China Sea as tensions rise over oil dispute

By New York Post. A months-long standoff between Chinese and Malaysian vessels in disputed waters in the South China Sea over oil exploration has drawn US, Chinese and Australian warships, according to reports.

The high-stakes drama began in December when Malaysia’s state oil company Petronas contracted a ship to explore waters in the country’s extended continental shelf that are also claimed by China and Vietnam, according to Bloomberg News.

Those two countries dispatched ships to shadow the Malaysian vessel.

On April 16, the Chinese surveyor Haiyang Dizhi 8 entered the fray while accompanied by a coast guard ship sent by Beijing, prompting the US and Australia to deploy warships to the area, Reuters reported. REVEALED: FBI Used Left-Wing Conspiracy Theory to Spy on Trump Campaign Adviser; Russia Investigation – Declassify Records, Public Has a Right to the Whole Truth; Trump Calls FBI Investigators in Russia Probe ‘Human Scum’ (VIDEO)

By Breitbart. Newly declassified documents show that in order to build its dubious case of Russian collusion to a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court, James Comey’s FBI utilized the misleading Democratic Party talking point that Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign had the Republican Party platform gutted so as to “not provide defensive weapons to Ukraine.”

Last Thursday, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham released a trove of documents from the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation into Trump’s campaign, including a less redacted version of Comey’s FISA warrant applications to spy on Page, who served as a tangential adviser to Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

The declassified sections underscore that in order to obtain four successive warrants to spy on Page, the FBI relied heavily on the Christopher Steele dossier alleging debunked Russian collision charges. The dossier was produced by Fusion GPS, which was paid for its anti-Trump work by Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

One section shows just how thin the FBI’s arguments to the FISA court were in a bid to build a background narrative alleging Russian collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. This narrative was successfully utilized by the FBI to obtain four successive warrants to spy on Page. Comey personally signed three of the four warrant applications.

The disclosure reveals that the FISA warrant cites a “July 2016 article in an identified news organization” claiming that Trump’s campaign “worked behind the scenes to make sure” the GOP “platform would not call for giving weapons to Ukraine to fight Russian and rebel forces, contradicting the view of almost all [the Republican Party’s] foreign policy leaders.” (Read more from “Revealed: FBI Used Left-Wing Conspiracy Theory to Spy on Trump Campaign Adviser” HERE)

David Bossie: Russia Investigation – Declassify Records, Public Has a Right to the Whole Truth

By Fox News. Newly declassified footnotes from the Department of Justice Inspector General’s inflammatory report shed new light on the FBI’s disturbing handling of the Steele dossier, the campaign opposition research file against then-candidate Donald Trump.

The footnotes show the FBI was warned that some of the information compiled by ex-British spy Christopher Steele could have been part of a Russian disinformation campaign.

The report issued in December by Inspector General Michael Horowitz details how Steele put together his thoroughly debunked Russian dossier in the summer of 2016 and weaponized it for political gain. That dossier became the basis for surveillance against the Trump campaign. Horowitz ultimately found 17 “errors or omissions” in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance applications against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

The significant disclosure about the footnotes goes straight to one of the central questions of this four-year-long disgrace. Since the FBI was aware of the Russian disinformation campaign as it pertained to Steele’s work and knew Steele was working on behalf of the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee, why did they plow forward with the Crossfire Hurricane investigation and the abusive FISA warrants targeting Page? Trump Calls FBI Investigators in Russia Probe ‘Human Scum’

By The Hill. President Trump on Sunday lashed out at FBI leadership over the origins of the investigation into Russia’s election interference, calling investigators who led the probe “human scum.”

Trump made the remarks during a White House briefing after being asked about a pair of his former associates who were sentenced to prison following charges stemming from former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

Asked whether he’d pardon Paul Manafort and Roger Stone so they wouldn’t be exposed to the coronavirus while in prison, Trump said, “You’ll find out.”

Manafort, Trump’s former campaign chairman, was sentenced to prison last year following crimes uncovered by Mueller’s investigation. Stone, a longtime adviser to Trump, was sentenced to three years in prison in February for lying to Congress and witness tampering.
