‘Cancel Culture’ Gets Hilariously Mocked Over University’s Connection to Infamous Slave Trader

Cancel culture, the practice of publicly shaming people and organizations — often resulting in an individual losing their job or a business losing customers — for saying or doing something objectionable, has been amplified in recent weeks as racial unrest took over the country in the wake of George Floyd’s tragic death. . .

Conservative pundit Jesse Kelly triggered a wave of “#CancelYale” momentum over the weekend after observing that Elihu Yale, the man for whom Yale University is named, was a notorious slave trader.

“Yale University was named for Elihu Yale. Not just a man who had slaves. An actual slave trader. I call on @Yale to change it’s name immediately and strip the name of Yale from every building, piece of paper, and merchandise. Otherwise, they hate black people,” Kelly tweeted, along with the hashtag “#CancelYale.”

In another tweet, Kelly mocked, “I’m ok with arresting Yale faculty and alumni, but I think they all should be allowed to buy their way out of prison with reparation payments. Let’s end Yale’s vicious cycle of keeping other human beings in captivity. #CancelYale.”

Surveillance Video Dispels ‘Lynching’ Claims in Death of Black Man Found Hung From a Tree

Suspicions of a possible racist lynching in the death of a black man found hung from a tree in Victorville, California, have been dispelled by a surveillance video proving he committed suicide.

38-year-old Malcolm Harsch was found dead on March 31 hanging from a tree near the Victorville library.

Owing to recent “Black Lives Matter” protests around the country, rumors of a racially motivated lynching began circulating in the community. Another black man was found hanging by a tree in nearby Palmdale.

On Friday, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department played video for reporters proving that Harsch killed himself. In the video, according to the Press Enterprise, Harsch is seen wrapping a blue electronics cable around his neck and then tying it to a tree limb before killing himself.

Officials added that Harsch had been placed under suicide watch twice during bookings at San Bernardino County jails.

88-Year-Old Store Owner Shoots Alleged Shoplifter

Nashville liquor store owner May Boyce, an 88-year-old widow who stands 5-foot-3 and weighs 115 pounds, according to reports, got “fed up” of her store being robbed so she shot an alleged shoplifter.

She told police she grabbed her late mother Mary’s .38 Smith & Wesson snub-nose revolver and shot a suspect who was trying to steal alcohol last Tuesday, according to an affidavit obtained by McClatchy News Service.

“I did what I had to do, and I hope word gets out on the street that I’m fed up and I’m not taking it anymore,” she told The New York Post Saturday. “You’ve got to stick up for yourself sometimes.” . . .

Authorities said it might be two years before they give her back her confiscated gun.

“I told ’em, s–t, I might be dead by then,” Boyce said. “But the law’s the law.” (Read more from “88-Year-Old Store Owner Shoots Alleged Shoplifter” HERE)

John Bolton Attacks President Trump

In a Sunday interview which aired on ABC News, former National Security Advisor John Bolton said his “hope” is that history remembers President Donald Trump as a “one-term president who didn’t plunge the country irretrievably into a downward spiral” from which it cannot recover.

As he discussed his forthcoming tell-all book, “The Room Where It Happened,” Bolton emphasized he does not believe Trump to be a conservative Republican nor “competent to serve” as commander in chief. . .

Raddatz asked, “How do you think history will remember Donald Trump?”

Bolton replied, “I hope it will remember him as a one-term president who didn’t plunge the country irretrievably into a downward spiral we can’t recall from. We can get over one term. Two terms, I’m more troubled about. Decisions are made in a very scattershot fashion, especially in national security policy. It’s a danger for the republic.” (Read more from “John Bolton Attacks President Trump” HERE)

Key Details in Draft of China’s Hong Kong Security Law

China on Saturday announced details of draft national security legislation for Hong Kong, which is expected to be finalised in coming weeks. . .

— The draft law aims to tackle separatism, subversion, terrorism and collusion with foreign forces. It is unclear yet what activities would constitute such crimes and what the punishments would be.

— Power of interpretation for the security law belongs to the Chinese parliament’s top decision-making body, the National People’s Congress Standing Committee. This means Beijing will have the final say over how the law should be interpreted.

— Provisions in the security law would supersede existing Hong Kong legislation should the two conflict.

— The central government in Beijing will set up a national security office in Hong Kong to “supervise, guide and support” the local government in maintaining national security. The office will collect intelligence and handle crimes.

Shootings Surge in NYC Amid Disbanding of NYPD’s Plainclothes Anti-Crime Unit; REPORT: Seattle’s Breakaway CHOP Is Now a Murder Scene

By New York Post. Shootings are surging this week in New York City, with 28 incidents and 38 victims reported since Monday — the day the NYPD disbanded its plainclothes anti-crime unit, The Post learned on Friday.

By comparison, the same week last year there were only 12 shootings for the entire week.

In the most recent reported shooting, at 4 p.m. Friday in East New York, Brooklyn, a 27-year-old man died of multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, face and leg in front of 640 Stanley Avenue.

A 17-year-old boy who was also shot there was in stable condition, police said.

“This is what the politicians wanted — no bail, nobody in Rikers, cops not arresting anyone,” one angry law enforcement source said Friday. (Read more from “Shootings Surge in NYC Amid Disbanding of NYPD’s Plainclothes Anti-Crime Unit” HERE)

Report: Seattle’s Breakaway CHOP Is Now a Murder Scene

By PJ Media. If you listen to much of the media, Seattle’s anarchist-occupied section is part street party, part SJW indoctrination center. It’s certainly the latter, but it’s perhaps less of a carnival despite Police Chief Carmen Best’s insistence that it’s not a “cop-free zone.”

Last week an unwilling resident found himself and his business subjected to crime after a CHOP speaker urged the crowd to attack, and neither the police nor the fire department showed up to help him. . .

No additional detail is available yet. Journalist Omari Salisbury tweets that he may have an update later today.

Black Preacher to CHAZ: ‘Planned Parenthood #1 Killer of Black Population’; Washington Mayor Now Says BLM Movement is Domestic Terrorism

By Breitbart. A black preacher confronted Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters inside the so-called Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) in Seattle Wednesday, shouting that it is not police but Planned Parenthood that is the number one killer of the black community.

Video emerged of Edmee Chavannes shouting to the BLM demonstrators in the area that has been overtaken by rioters in the city.

Benny Johnson, chief creative officer of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), and Colton Duncan, a producer at the conservative organization, tweeted the video of Chavannes:

“Why don’t I see my brothers and my sisters outside Planned Parenthood?” Chavannes shouted at the BLM protesters. “The number one killer of the black population is Planned Parenthood!” (Read more from “Black Preacher to CHAZ: ‘Planned Parenthood #1 Killer of Black Population’” HERE)

Washington State Mayor Says Black Lives Matter Movement Is ‘Domestic Terrorism’ After Her Home Was Vandalized

By Fox News. A Washington state mayor was fine with the Black Lives Matter protests that followed George Floyd’s death in police custody.

But that was until vandals damaged her home, according to reports.

Now, Mayor Cheryl Selby of Olympia refers to the protests as “domestic terrorism,” according to The Olympian.

“I’m really trying to process this,” Selby told the newspaper Saturday, after the rioters’ Friday night spree left her front door and porch covered with spray-painted messages. “It’s like domestic terrorism. It’s unfair. (Read more from “Washington State Mayor Says Black Lives Matter Movement Is ‘Domestic Terrorism’ After Her Home Was Vandalized” HERE)

WATCH: George Washington Statue Destroyed by Rioters; General Grant, Francis Scott Key, Others Torn Down Across U.S., Too

By New York Post. Protesters in Portland, Oregon, wrapped a statue of George Washington in an American flag, lit it on fire — then pulled it down Thursday night, according to a report.

The demonstrators toppled the towering bronze sculpture of the first US president — who owned slaves in the 1700s — during a protest on the eve of Juneteeth, a holiday celebrating the abolition of slavery, over the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, according to CBS affiliate KOIN-TV.

After the founding father’s statue came crashing down, vandals defaced it with graffiti, then left it face-down in Rose City Park before fleeing around 11 p.m., the station reported.

They spray-painted the words “F–K COPS” and “BIG FLOYD” on the statue’s base, according to footage posted on Twitter.

Portland police arrived later but it wasn’t immediately clear if any arrests were made, according to the station. (Read more from “George Washington Statue Destroyed by Rioters” HERE)

WATCH: Chick-Fil-A CEO Suggests White People Shine the Shoes of Black People to Express ‘Shame’ Over Racism

Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy suggested during a church service that one way for white people to atone for racism in the United States is to shine the shoes of black people, to express their “shame.”

. . .Cathy sat down for a televised discussion at Atlanta’s Passion City Church on Sunday with Pastor Louie Giglio and rapper Lecrae to engage in what the church described as “an open and honest conversation around how racism has plagued our city for generations, and the steps we can all take to confront it head-on in our church, our neighborhoods, and our hearts.”

The CEO shared a story told to him about a revival that happened in Texas, where a young man at the service who was “gripped with conviction about the racism that was happening” in the small town expressed his conviction by kneeling down before an elderly African American man and shining the gentleman’s shoes.

. . .”So I invite folks to just put some words to action here,” Cathy said, standing up and walking over to Lecrae with a shoe brush in hand. As he knelt down before the rapper, the CEO continued, “If we need to find somebody that needs to have their shoes shined, we just need to go right on over and shine their shoes and whether they got tennis shoes on or not, maybe they got sandals on, it really doesn’t matter. But there’s a time at which we need to have, you know, some personal action here. Maybe we need to give them a hug, too.”

Trump Initiative Aims to Reduce High Suicide Rate Among Veterans

After fighting alongside his fellow Marines in the war in Iraq, Chad Hiser survived a battle that killed 18 other troops. Just three days days later, a friendly-fire incident injured others. But 15 years ago, Hiser almost didn’t survive his own battle that came after he was honorably discharged.

“I returned home feeling guilty for surviving. Shame for feeling like I hadn’t done enough. The war was still in my mind. I was detached physically, emotionally, and spiritually,” Hiser, who is now involved with the Wounded Warrior Project, said Wednesday at a White House event. “I was angry and isolated from the world, including my family.”

In 2005, Hiser attempted suicide, and was later diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. He spoke at the White House as part of the PREVENTS task force’s plan the Trump administration described as a comprehensive approach to reversing the trend of an average of 20 veterans per day committing suicide.

Veterans die by suicide at higher rates than that of the general population. In 2017, about 6,000 veterans took their lives.

The task force has made 10 recommendations to ensure effective, coordinated action among federal agencies and public organizations and establishes a new public health campaign to improve veterans’ awareness of mental health resources available around the country.

“In 2009, by God’s grace and mercy, I was saved by Jesus Christ,” said Hiser, of Ohio. “After carrying these burdens I had carried so long, the newfound hope I had was my foundation now.”

He quoted Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, the plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Now working to help other veterans through their struggles, Hiser said, “It’s important to let everyone know, let the country know, that they can be strong and ask for help if you are struggling.”

At the Wednesday event, President Donald Trump announced the completion of the work of the PREVENTS commission he appointed through a March 2019 executive order.

PREVENTS is an acronym for President’s Roadmap to Empower Veterans and End a National Tragedy of Suicide.

Trump, speaking at the East Room event, noted that veterans’ trust in the Department of Veterans Affairs now stands at 91% after major reforms he enacted following VA scandals in the Obama administration.

Still, the president said, ending the tragedy of veterans’ suicides demands bold action.

“The loss of our heroes breaks our hearts and pains our souls,” Trump said.

“They come home from these active battlefields and active places, and all of a sudden, sometimes, they’re left somewhere alone, and they have a hard time with it,” the president said. “They fought our battle overseas, and now we must join them in winning this new battle at home. There is no single solution to this issue. Every resource must be brought to bear.”

Karen Pence, the wife of Vice President Mike Pence, and Surgeon General Jerome Adams will launch a major public awareness campaign.

“This historic campaign will mobilize every sector of American society to encourage heroes in need, empower them with the best prevention practices, and help every veteran thrive in their lives after service,” Trump said.

The administration is expanding its partnership with military and veterans organizations, universities, faith-based leaders, businesses, and nonprofits, he said, adding that 30 large corporations will help prioritize the mental health of their employees.

“The PREVENTS office is currently reviewing the $1.5 billion of federal funding committed to suicide prevention to make sure research goes where it is most needed in order to save lives and to make lives better,” the president said.
